sassiemyk:
Good morning N/Landers. I really came here for ideas on how to handle this issue so I'll get straight to it.

I live in a house with 3 flats. The first flat supposed to be my landlord's but he is not living in the house so it is empty. I live in the middle flat and I have my neighbors in the third flat. When my previous neighbors were quitted out of the house my landlord asked me to get new tenants to move in.

I allowed these new tenants into the house simply because they were already occupying one of the stores at the front of the building so I just felt moving into the house would help make things easy for them. But that has turned out to be my greatest mistake. Even when landlord asked me if I'm sure I said yes and he now blames me for everything.

From the first day they moved in, they started fighting. I mean "FIGHT" that would have the entire street gathering at our once quiet house to separate fights. Many times the woman would faint and be resuscitated. On more than one occasion I have had to administer CPR so she could breath.

And it's continued since then. 2years now they still fighting. As I type this they are fighting. Since the past 3 days they wake up to start a new fight. I have long stopped talking or even separating them, but is has become mentally draining.

I am a very private person, and I love to live a quiet life but these have made my life miserable. I cannot pack out for them.

My fear is if any of them should kill the other how would if affect me. I have reported them to the landlord several times but because he doesn't live with us he doesn't take action.

On the aspect of taking care of the house, they live like pigs. Imagine this young man opening a poultry inside the compound. If I post the picture of this beautiful house here you would begin to question the sanity anyone trying to open a poultry in the house. The house is upside down and I just don't know what to do as the caretaker.

It Hurts me to watch another man's property be destroyed by someone that cannot even afford one back of cement and I just have to mind my business to avoid making it look like I'm a wicked person. Please how do I handle this issue because my landlord has told me I should handle it. He never comes to house buts calls me often...
The landlord should give quit them from the house.
To maintain your own sanity...look for alternative apartment and move out.

There things your siblings can start doing to make the process easy and save some time by taking the following steps while waiting for the convenient time to visit home.

1. Any of your siblings can help to get the Death Certificate of your parents from National Population Commission......each should cost between 2k to 5k.
2. Any of your siblings can help to the High Court in your state of origin and ask for the Probate Section and collect the a form....between 2k and 5k
3. They can send you a copy of the Probate Form for you to study and know the information required...(they are basic information you are familiar with).

When you have the opportunity to visit home
4. (a) Fill the Probate Forms. And submit the Probate Form to the court.
4. (b) Get a Bank Confirmation Letter for all the banks they used from the court...go to any major branch of the banks.
4. (c.) For shares go to the their Stock Brokers office and ask for the procedure of claiming their shares.

5. Don't involve in any struggle or agitation to claim any ancestral land.

I understand.

You need to weigh the options.
Depending on what the assets are, if the are landed properties....... secure the documents and get a trusted solicitor (get one by referral) to manage the assets.

If they are shares and money in bank, start the process of getting a letter of administration next time you are opportune to come back home. It takes between 3 to 12 months. Just submit the documents to the court and get someone to help you follow-up.

Although it takes time, you don't have to be present through-out the process....you can file/submit the required documents to the court and allow your siblings to follow-up.

However if you feel relocating will offer you more income, then you need to come back....but consider the risk and current hash operating current environment for investments.

In all don't be in haste to relocate now.

Tallesty1:
You're right.

Had a friend like that. We dated, broke up and stayed friends. Like very tight friends.

She got married and I stopped seeing her but the communication continued. Sometimes I would spend a week or so in the area where she lives but I won’t let her know because I just don't want to be hanging out again with a married ex but my mumu head no carry am say even the phone calls no make sense.

The husband know about us. She told him everything before they got married, whether or not he was okay with it is what I can't tell because all I know is what the lady said. I got to know that because I actually ended every thing when she got married but she explained and pleaded until I said okay.

The phone calls continued until I got home one day and after giving her update on my movements, mom was like "who is this lady that you don't want us to know"?

Told her she is the one she already knows.

She frowned and said "But I thought she's married"

"Yes"

"And you people still talk this much?"

"Well, we're still friends mom, it's harmless. Her husband is aware and okay with it"

"And you? If you're the husband would you be okay with it? Knowing that while you're in far away land hustling, your wife is always on phone with her ex boyfriend, giving her every detail of her life?"

"Common mom, it is just phone calls, we don't even see each other any more."

"If you're the husband and your wife tells you that it's just calls and no meeting, would you believe that?

Omoh, nah so I weak. Took some knocking from her for me to understand how silly the whole thing is.

I am dam sure that this your guy won't tolerate his wife keeping such a close male friend.
Your mum is a wise woman!

RomanceRe: My Girlfriend Doesn't Know I Have Mental Issues by portplus: 8:30am On Nov 08, 2021
Dude397:
Good evening everyone. To cut the long story short my mental health issues started in 2012 when I tried weed in the university. It's not genetic. I've also been in and out of psychiatric hospitals a good number of times. However I'm currently on medication and I've been able to manage the condition. I was also able to graduate and I've also done my nysc and my family is planning on opening a small business for me since job has not been forthcoming.

However my health condition has been kept secret by me and family and I'm currently dating a nice girl. Please should I tell her my secret. What caused most of my episodes was refusal to take my medication and all that but right now I'm very okay and for some few years now I've been going about my daily affairs without any issue. If I let the cat out of the bag I don't think she may stay cos the stigma of mental health issues is not a joke. Please I need your advice on how to handle this delicate issue. Thanks
You don't need to tell her.
Except she demands to know why you are always on medication.
Please don't stop your medication.

I don't think this is the right section to post this but permit me admin.

I pretty much want to talk about the menace of mental health problems in our African homes, schools, and culture so you can just leave this page if it's not something of your interest. But I am sure you want regret reading through it.

Am going to be sharing my experiences with mental health problems since I was a kid and how you as someone who is struggling can help yourself or help those around you in the best possible way you can.

I was diagnosed with two very common mental health problems but I didn't know I had the second one until recently when I was close to taking my own life.

First was severe social anxiety disorder back in my first to last year in the university. In the university where one is supposed to be very social I was the type that would skip class and miss marks just to avoid social interactions.

Long story short It was so bad that my grades went from average to really bad. My mates could easily pick on me because they knew I could hardly retaliate. Suicidal thoughts and depression became the order of the day in my life.

I dropped out during my third year and my parents were pissed, I could explain anything to anyone so I just told my parents it was bad grades and I don't want to keep wasting their money.

I thought I dropped out because of the social anxiety struggles affecting my studies but the dots connected themselves only recently when I was diagnosed with ADD.

For those who don't know, it's attention deficit disorder. There is also the hyperactive type but am not really much hyperactive.

I got rid of my social anxiety struggles after much therapy ( but no drugs, because I couldn't afford them). The withdrawal effects are also bad so I just had to skip the drugs part.

I decided to go into business, and then into freelancing, and then back to into business too many interests in my brain. Yeah really confused!

I was struggling with everything I placed my hands on after school because i couldn't focus on something for long. Once I loose interest on something It's a no go area for me again.

I remember back then in school I would only study for an exam a night before the exam. Not because I was unserious but because I could only get myself to focus because of the pressure of taking the exams the next day.

There is no way you can read for an exam in a day and ace it, even if you are a genius.

I don't want to bore you with my long epistle, but where am heading to is that the issue of mental health issues in our African homes is something of great concern.

When a child has some form of mental health issue in Africa, they either cover it up with spirituality or say the child is immature. What if it's an adult?

I managed to get rid of my social anxiety struggles without drugs but by constant therapy. ADD is a whole new diagnosis and it has changed the course of my life. but you know what they say "we are never given anything we can't handle".

Am leaving room for people to also share their mental health struggles and how well they were able to or are still managing it.

Am also planning on organizing a group on Watsapp or telegram where we can share tips on how to help one another and those around us with our experiences and how we overcame.

Story was a bit long so I had to cut it short. Am not an English professor so make una no mind my possible mistakes.

P.S: I'll open a group once I see interested persons drop their contacts (at least 10).

We all have a duty to help one another.
