Health › Re: NHIS - What Has Been Your Experience? by portplus: 8:10am On Sep 01, 2021 |
Enskynelson: Alright. But the testimonies so far doesn't mean the hospitals are not good. The testimonies is that, once you are on NHIS, they don't give you quality service especially as regards treatment. The reason I made the suggestion is because I have come across hospitals who do not compromise standards and don't discriminant against HMO users. |
Health › Re: NHIS - What Has Been Your Experience? by portplus: 2:28pm On Aug 27, 2021 |
Enskynelson: Na wa o. It's not long I registered and hence, I didn't have much experience but the little experience has not been good at all. It seems a scheme just for survival, for those that cannot meet basic healthcare challenges. The good thing is that you can change hospitals. You can look around try for another hospital. You may be lucky to find a good hospital. |
Health › Re: NHIS - What Has Been Your Experience? by portplus: 10:20am On Aug 27, 2021 |
Enskynelson: Early this year, I registered myself and my wife in NHIS. We chose our hospitals based on recommendations and the place looks good, clean and fine, with many doctors. However, for the times we have visited the hospital, I have noticed that they don't give good drugs. For Malaria and Typhoid treatment, the test was done and they gave my wife a drug that I asked at the Pharmacy outside costs around 400NGN and 600 NGN respectively. And the rest is paracetamol tablets. After less than two weeks, she fell ill again with same symptoms and we went back there. The doctors still said she should do MP and Widal tests. She did and it was the same tyhpoid and Malaria and we were given the same 'cheap' drugs. We had to go to a paharmacy outside and got coartem and Ciprotab and she has been fine since then. That was about four months ago. Just some weeks ago, my colleague took ill (Malaria symptoms) and he went to his NHIS chosen hospital (not the same as mine). The conducted a test and it was confirmed Malaria and Typhoid. He was still given those class of 400-600NGN drugs and they were not effective as the symptoms continued. He went back to complain and they told him they don't have other drugs! Meanwhile, before he joined NHIS, they used to give him better drugs at that same hospital. Lastly, my inlaw in another State called and said she was ill. She has been under NHIS for more than 7years. She said she had no money for treatment. I reminded her of NHIS and she laughed. She said they don't always have drugs. They only give paracetamol there as they don't have drugs there. These made me to write this post.
NLanders under NHIS, what has been your experience under the Health Insurance Scheme? For me, the only thing I benefit is the tests examination. I am not confident about the drugs they administer for treatments. Same experience o. In most hospitals, once you are on HMO, you get cheap/less effective drugs. |

Family › Re: Married Men In The House Please Advice Me by portplus: 10:26am On Jul 22, 2021 |
Golden147: Good afternoon everyone.. Please I'm kindly in need of advice... ignore my typing ERROR.. There's this girl I love and I want to settle down with her. She's still in school while I'm still in school too. She's 22 while I'm 24 nd also in final YR and we both love each other..my mum has supported me to marry her. I proposed to her and she said yes...I plan going her house next month next to start official martial rites but I'm afraid. Here is my reasons
She's the only girl and the last daughter in a family of 5boys. Ever since we started dating, she's in 100l then, all her school burdens are on me..I take care of her and mine own...with this people around who knows about our RELATIONSHIP ask me to marry her to avoid story that touches the heart..which he has accepted , her mum nd dad have accepted it too. My major concern about this girl is that those his brothers are not willing to do anything, istead the came asking me for small small money when I'm back, knowing fully I'm just dating thier sis....most times the my girl always feel ashamed of her brothers nd keep cursing them. The can't even call her on phone unless she calls them...nd the will keep asking why she didn't call them all this while knowing fully thier sister is in school nd not working.
I have thought about this over and over again, how do I marry from a family that can't even assist in anything...I know marriage is not always Rosy, what if something happens tomorrow nd I needed thier financial support..the can't render to me. I discussed with my mum nd she told me I'm marrying thier sister who is well trained nd not the brother..that I can decide not to give them money again... But I'm very sad over this. It's only the father and mum that acknowledge I hay been trying to see their sister through school expenses, including food and wears. I discussed with my woman, she started crying, saying she knows her brothers are such a disgrace, telling me how she may commite sucide if I didn't marry her... She cried that she can't visits her house again... that her only hope will be to start prostitution which she can't see herself do that nd that's why she is going to commite sucide if I eventually leave her, all her social media handle is full with my picture, including her profile pictures.
Please what advice do you have for me.... should I let go of this girl, I don't mind letting go all I have already spent...I just want to make sure I won't regret the marriage tomorrow...I have already discussed with my mom nd we plan on going her house officially by August ending..but I'm still very worried.
Matured advice please 1. Stop giving her brothers money....you are owing them! 2. Marry he before she graduates from school. |

Your observations is correct. This is a very dangerous trend in Port Harcourt and other major cities across Nigeria. Those scavengers are very heartless and seem to be bent on removing all metal manhole covers along major roads in Port Harcourt. I think Civil Engineers should adopt method of making manhole covers with less attractive alternative materials (eg: concrete) . |
