jeblerem:
So sorry about the loss. I will advise you dig and bury the body securely.
I must as well commend you on the dog. 14years is such a long time for the dog and the dog must have died naturally due to old age. Move on and get another dog, before you know it, you will get attached to that one too.
Thank you very much. Although I expected this as he was not eating for 2 days and I thought I had prepared my mind to accept losing him, I still can't hold back tears this morning. Even as it was time for him to go. He has really tried. I'll miss him very much.
I and my nephew are thinking of burning the body.
This might be better option since I live in rented flat. I am open to suggestions though.

Hi all. My beloved dog Adolf just passed away few minutes ago. He just stopped breathing.
I am just devastated. I can't hold back tears.
He passed away peacefully. But he was in pains for some days now.
He was such an intelligent dog and very gentle. I will miss him greatly.
Next step for me now is how to take care of his body. I would have loved cremation if it is offered in Nigeria. Please I need advice from those that have been through this situation.
Thank you all for your support.

Boil Titus fish (due to aroma) and add with half boiled egg... appetite loss and do stop any form of antibiotic and b complex for a few days(2 days). then force omega 3 fish oil down his throat with Pet tabs and watch for 1 day.

Remember to put water close by and use blanket to cover him up at night.

Give me an update by this time tomorrow. Old age crippling in but doesn't have to react this way...too much drug down his system!.
Thanks a lot. I will try that right now. Just came back from work and happy he is still breathing.

Hi, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. But I think the best thing you can do for your dog is to put him to sleep. I had to make the same decision when my previous dog got old. He eventually became blind and even had a stroke. He became paralysed and I had to make that painful decision but I know it was the best rather than for him to live his remaining days in pain and as an invalid.
Thanks. I guess I will take that step eventually. I want to hold out a little to see if there is anything I can do to change the situation.
How hard was it making the decision?

Did you say 14yrs old?
If so its ageing,he has really tried to live that long, just continue giving him water and probably indocid tabs.
He has really tried. I just feel sad that he can't get up and walk around. I want to see him go without much pain. He has been a great friend.
I gave him tramadol today. The nsaids (which includes indocid) is causing him GI irritation.

Pls experienced dog owners and vet docs in the house, I need your advice.
My dog Adolf is alsatian, 14 yrs old (but looks much younger). It just suddenly became lame on Friday. Could only get up with my assistance. It got worse by Saturday with almost complete loss of appetite (he only ate some chicken I boiled for him). Saturday he refused the chicken. So I tried beef and he ate it. But since Sunday to date it's complete loss of appetite. He won't eat anything even boiled fresh fish. He has only been drinking water. I tried adding glucose to the water but he won't touch it. He wants only plain water.
And he can't get up at all, even with my assistance.
I got a vet coming daily to treat but no improvement. I suspected hip dysplasia. Vet feels there is an infection in addition. He has been giving daily gentamicin injection and b-complex inj since Sunday, but no improvement.
When it started Friday, he was urinating very frequently and indiscriminately probably from drinking a lot of water. I gave aspirin oral Saturday to ease pain and added omega 3 fish oil sunday. Vet started treatment Sunday and gave diclofenac inj in addition to antibiotic and b complex.
Since monday urination reduced drastically. And he did not urinate Monday. I suspect the diclofenac has adversely affected his kidney. Vet has stopped it. He got only one dose of 75mg. Dog weighs about 40kg.
Now he vomits (not frequently) after drinking water; probably because he can't urinate easily.
My dog has been a great companion. He has lived a good life. Has hardly been sick. I would be very happy if there is anything I can do to help him. It really pains me to see him suffer.
I miss walking him every morning. He always came to wake me up for early morning walk. He always looked forward to it.

They no nothing about political calculation. Any one thinking tinubu will lose lagos for pdp is just wasting his or her time. They started the blame again. The voting pattern will worse than what Jonathan got last 2 weeks.
Why are they even complaining? Since it worked in rivers state, why won't it work in lagos? No one has monopoly to rigging. It will do jk like film trick. Go and ask segun adewale and ade dosunmu, PDP continuous failure candidates. Segun adewale failed under pdp for the fifth time upon his intimidation and his battalion of rogues.
But I believe apc will still beat pdp in lagos without even rigging. Jk we know in ajegunle and alaba. Not in lagos entirely. He was using those marauders without pvcs to get sympathy votes not forgetting that the northerners are as much as the south Easterners dem in lagos, talk of apapa, agege, yaba, ijora and the likes, they are more than enough with pvcs and they are not beating their chests .

Their best results in lagos will be the last presidential one. No more dollars again.
And you know for sure the northerners will be voting Ambode, right?

PoliticsRe: Alleged Anti-Igbo Comment: What Oba Akiolu Really Said — Palace by poseidon12: 5:42pm On Apr 06, 2015
Now that the palace is denying, the federal government needs to investigate to find out if the Oba really said what is reported. If he did, the law should take its course. The Oba is not above the law. For someone in his position, if he said what is alleged, and violence breaks out after the election, then the Oba would likely be a candidate for the ICC (international criminal court).

On Saturday I will vote Jimi Agbaje and this fool can do nothing about it with his empty threat.
It's hard to believe that this character rose to the level of a police commissioner. In a sane environment he would be facing prosecution.
PoliticsRe: Buhari May Find It Hard To Change Nigeria by poseidon12: 2:57pm On Apr 05, 2015
Flets:
No single individual is capable of changing Nigeria.

We all must join hands to change Nigeria and the trigger can only be structural changes. One clear option is implementation of true federalism in this country to promote ingenuity in value creation and healthy competition across the regions.

Until then, am still laughing at the change agents and ignorant Nigerians.
Exactly. Anything short of a true federal system for Nigeria would be a waste of time. They need to, as a matter of urgency, implement the recommendations of the national conference.
If Buhari makes that happen, then he would set this country on the path of real progress and unity. It would then become easier to tackle corruption.
CelebritiesRe: Nobody Should Celebrate Buhari- Etcetera Writes In New Article by poseidon12: 10:14am On Apr 04, 2015
Great and sensible article. Nigerians always jubilate whenever a new government comes in. And within a year, reality sets in and criticism and frustration start.
As long as we do not deal with the root cause of our problem as a nation, I don't see much progress being made by the new government. There must be devolution of power away from the center to the states- true federalism.

And Jonathan was there for 6 years and could not effect thesame true federalism. How long did it take him to convene the national conference after so much clamour. To even implement the recommendation was another tussle, not until he started sensing a loss at the poll did he quickly promised to implement the recommendation as campaign strategy to get support from the SW. But it was too late for him.
I agree with you. I expected that Gej, coming from the SS region would have considered devolution of power from the center a top priority. But we still need to have the recommendations of that confab implemented. That would provide permanent solution to our problems. Otherwise, I am not optimistic about the future of Nigeria.

Fool.
How is he a fool for asking for true federalism?
Are you against federal system for Nigeria? Most of Nigeria's problems will be solved if we can implement the recommendations of the national conference.
Our problem is not really the person occupying the post of president but the dysfunctional system (over centralised) that we are operating.

but to me, i think we really need this soldiers to compliment the efforts of other various security operatives during the election
Of course we need the soldiers and they would be there on election day. As INEC chairman Jega has explained, the soldiers are never at the polling stations. They stay a few kilometers away. It is the police that stay at polling stations; usually three of them and unarmed. So those going to court are just wasting their time and money.
PoliticsRe: Insight: Why Nigeria's Restive Oil Region Will Only Accept Jonathan - YAHOO NEWS by poseidon12: 1:15am On Mar 23, 2015
egift:
There are many reasons why Buhari will lead Nigeria with a very peaceful Niger Delta, but here are few:
1. Buhari has good intentions for the region and they too will be watching him closely on how he makes decisions that affect them.
2. Buhari is a man of action and not into jesting. If he says AAA, go to the end of the world, it will remain AAA.
3. People of the region are already an integral part of Buhari's administration. Every State in the region is well represented in APC inner circles.
4. The trouble makers and their foot-lets are well known. We will not have problem picking them up if need be.
5. Finally, the Niger Delta region have 2 simple choices - To become a war zone OR the Developmental Hub of Nigeria.

But one thing I must make clear, Nigerians will not remain an appendage of Failure just for fear we may hurt the ego and greed of Jonathan and his wife. The region needs to be developed and empowered, that is what Buhari is offering.

God bless Nigeria.
As for your #5: If they choose to become a war zone, will you join the army to go fight them?
Nigeria has been struggling to clear Bokoharam and you think we can add a second war front?

This shows that we really need state police. Nigerians need to start thinking of solving our problems by dealing with the root cause instead of symptoms. Serious violent crime takes place at Lekki and response comes from far away Ikeja. There is something wrong here.
The national conference recommendations need to be implemented asap.

I watched a Documentary on the "Terror at the mall" shooting incident that happened in Kenya..

One part of the documentary that stayed with me was that the first set of people to go in and rescue many trapped civilians from the Mall were not the Police nor the Army, but 3 Armed Civilians that had their Pistols with them. They entered the mall and actually engaged some of the Terrorists before the Police and the Army even found the guts to enter.

I wonder what the scenario today at Lekki would have looked like if about 5 random Civilians had a Gun in their cars.. undecided

The robbers would not even know where to focus on. Imagine that the Police were over powered and had to run, leaving the civilians to fend for themselves without arms.

If the Army is under equipped, I wonder what the Police would say.

We need some serious changes in our Laws.. The robbers who robbed us back the. Only gained entry because we were unarmed.. When they tried a second time and met fierce resistance, they never bothered coming to our house ever again.

I am with you on legalizing arms. It's about time. We feel really helpless. And we need a real reform of the police which should include decentralization.
I don't support legalization of weed though.

ratchetwrench:
Being a very diplomatic country they are, America will never come out to tell you that they can't deploy troops against boko haram because they don't like the present nigerian government. The handwriting on the wall is legible enough. Since GEJ has gotten to power Nigeria relationship with other foreign countries has been soiled tremendously. His relationship with Obama is bad likewise with David Cameron. Nobody wants to associate with this man. But they are all watching keenly nigeria election. If Jonathan wins genuinely they are going to leave nigerians to their fate for another 4 years. But if Buhari wins, they will observe him for months and see if he's someone they can associate with. And if GEJ rigs the election he should be expected to be ousted out like Gbagbo by the world power
What really would Obama or Cameron do for Nigeria. You really think they give a damn about you and me? They are primarily after their national interests; not Nigeria's.

You may consider setting up a small eating joint in an office environment. Get a good chef to run it and pay you a fixed sum of money every month.

Or you can just invest the money in blue chip stocks like Nestle, Guinness, Nigerian Breweries, Nigerian Bottling Company, Flour Mills of Nigeria.

So in your mind, anybody that doesn't support Ambode should leave Lagos? I didn't know that Lagos is the personal property of Tinubu and Ambode. And you think you can win votes for Ambode with your posture? Some of you still don't understand what citizenship is all about.
Nigerians are free to vote their choice. And hopefully the new technology being introduced by INEC will make it difficult to rig so that everyone's vote will count.
PoliticsRe: Between Buhari And Shagari- Daily Trust by poseidon12: 4:43pm On Mar 09, 2015

Interesting read!

The weakness of Shagari was his inability to prevent looting that was prevalent under him despite himself not guilty of that offence.

A Buhari president will not allow this to happen given what we know of him.
Are you sure? He was in charge of PTDF. The report of the probe of the agency said that different actors:from the consultant to the contractors were to refund 25 Billion Naira. I believe he was not personally involved. But there was massive corruption going on at the PTDF under him.
If he wins, I expect the same thing to happen.

We need change in this country. But, like Gov. Mimiko said at the meeting with Afenifere, we need a change of structure not personality. I am not interested in any outcome that will ensure the continuation of the dysfunctional political structure we have now.
