anonimi: Jonathan simply ENHANCED our democracy in so many diverse ways that will ultimately accelerate development of a two-party system featuring PDP as it rebrands so more entrepreneurs and intellectials can identify with it unlike the soldiers & coupists who hijacked it from Ekwueme's G34 to provide a platform for Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo's second coming.
The realignment of indiduals will continue to sort out the two parties along ideological principles that is currently NOT the case!!! Good point. What is happening is actually good for our democracy. Eventually there will be realignment along 2 ideological lines. And we will have 2 strong political parties emerging. |

The EFCC needs to do a thorough job of probing this case so we can know all the Nigerians involved. They should be prosecuted and jailed. It's really shameful that Nigeria had swept this case under the carpet all this while. The article says that 3 ex-presidents were involved. We now know about 2 of them (Abdulsalam and Obasanjo). Who is the 3rd one? |

We may have succeeded in shaming Buhari to keep to his agreed public declaration of assets. PEOPLE POWER, POWER TO THE PEOPLE Don't mind Mr. Garba Shehu, and some fools here who were defending the non-public declaration. It's a campaign promise that should be kept, especially as it will give credibility to his promise to fight corruption. Mr. Shehu thinks we were born yesterday. |
Politics › Re: Meet The Only Two Nigeria Leaders That Publicly Declared Their Assets by poseidon12: 9:31am On Jun 06, 2015 |
That's public declaration of assets right there, no ambiguity there, no gimmicks. I hope Buhari's spokesman that was trying to redefine the meaning of public declaration takes note and advices the president to please declare his assets publicly in the true spirit of total transparency in governance and true fight against corruption. Otherwise I would not take him serious on his promise to fight corruption. I don't have any regard or respect for any leader that is hiding his assets. It's interesting to note that Tinubu and Fashola didn't take Jonathan's challenge to declare their assets. Bunch of thieves. Public assets declaration should be made mandatory if Nigerians are serious about fighting corruption (but I know we are not serious). We're just hypocrites. |

This story really needs to be verified. Because if it is true, then that would be terrible for Buhari's integrity. So far what we heard was that he does not own any property in Abuja; that he only owns a bungalow in Kaduna. And that he lives in Abuja on the charity of friends. And then he declares his assets secretly, after promising to do it publicly. Well, if this story is true, then I will stop taking him serious on his promise to fight corruption. If the story is false, then the author needs to be sued. |

ogb5: It is really depressing that some Nigerians are saying Buhari should not declare his assets publicly. What happened to the promise he made during campaign to declare it publicly?
Are we saying it is ok to break campaign promises? We know some of the campaign promises were stupid and will be impossible to fulfil like making 1 naira to be equal to 1 dollar and like stabilising global oil price, but declaring his assets is a easy promise to keep.
Those ones supporting secret declaration of assets are silly; especially when the president promised us a public declaration. As Professor Itse Sagay said, it is a credibility issue. If he doesn't make the declaration public, he will lose credibility just like President Jonathan. And he may not be taken seriously as far as tackling corruption is concerned. |

I wish him success. He has all the material and human resources to turn things around in Lagos. With the amount of revenue potentially available to Lagos, there should be no pot holed roads anywhere in Lagos; the state should be able to generate enough power, some of which can even be sold to neighbouring states (they should enable a true federal system to allow this). With adequate power, businesses will thrive which will translate to more revenue for the state. |

- bought blackout with $16 billion plus. - the brutal murder of his Attorney General, Bola Ige never resolved as with many other political assassinations. - the rigging of Ngige and subsequent kidnap by the brother of his Man Friday. - decorating Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, the TERRORIST of Ibadan as his own personal Garrison Commander. - capture of elections, with flip flopping Christian conscience women even disobeying court rulings anyhow. - etc, etc.
Yet the man not only was voted in for a second term, he almost got a third term and has been installing presidents since he left office- in 2007, 2011 and 2015! Na so even the new megida on the block dey receive direct advice on how to operate his administration from his party's navigator. We must be really clueless people- all 170 million of us!
You got it right. We really are clueless. Also, Gen. Danbazzau was the then Chief of Army Staff who secretly brought in dying Yaradua without the knowledge of then Vice President Jonathan. He took over security at the airport and had lights switched off. And then, they started playing hide and seek with Nigerians about Yaradua. Now he is being considered for NSA or Minister of Defense. We are one of a kind.

Very good plans for Nigeria by Buhari. I am especially glad to see that he supports true federalism for Nigeria because the lack of it is the foundation of Nigeria 's problem. I hope he implements the recommendations of the national conference then. I am also happy to see that he supports the PIB (petroleum industry bill). I am also glad to see that he plans to allow local policing (city, state, local govt). I wonder why I didn't get to hear of these during his campaign; he would have got my vote. I hope he's sincere about these promises; because if he implements them, Nigeria would become great. |
