After this huge debt, one can still not find a decent road to drive around on in most parts of Lagos. No transparency at all in the government of Lagos State. We needed a change to expose the massive corruption and cronyism in Lagos. |

The soldiers actions are shameful and reflects the unprofessionalism of our armed forces that Buhari has been complaining about.
3 more days. Professionalizing our military should be one of the major tasks for Buhari. Right now, they are not really much different from a bunch of thugs; both the senior officers and the junior ones. |

Trailblazer1: i've been watching with keen interest the way some gullible Nigerians insult this woman. I begin to ponder and ask myself "what was her crime".
With all the propagandas flying during the electioneering process, never was any accusation of financial embezzlement or recklessness levied against her.
Even the eagle-eyed media and social media crew never had any corrupt case against her except the state of the economy which in reality has many players and influencers that are more powerful than NOI.
I laugh when I see under-aged dullards who didn't even pass Economics in WASSC turn economic experts to insult this woman on Nairaland. Ensure your mother can spell economics before you quote me Don't mind the fools. I am also yet to see any serious allegation of personal enrichment against her. We seem to be a nation of ignoramuses. She has done well in bringing transparency to governance at the federal level. I wish the situation is same at the state level. |

She is one of only few Nigerians to have resigned from their ministerial jobs. President Jonathan had to beg her to come back, leaving her job at the World Bank. Let Yale understand that they may be refunding most of that donated money very soon if they do not want to destroy their reputation by being embroiled in collecting donations from a government official. Politics › Re: Lower Niger Congress Presenting Their Case At Us Congress W.dc by poseidon12: 4:11pm On May 22, 2015 |
Hakagure: Our twin bogeymen of Tribalism and corruption rear heads again, Hydras that multiply and become more and more. Some proposals more "chop I chop" rather than clear direction, confusion from nation states that never existed previously trying to create themselves in a new image.
How can tribes that operated on the clan level want to break up to the Tribal level? The only united entity immediately before British Colonialism was the Caliphate which had very little of the middle belt and basically co opted the Hausa City states which before them had Kano as the most important, What we know now as the South East was a loose confederacy at best, the Delta was even more piecemeal, Yoruba land was in the depths of a desperate civil war over autonomy, slavery and trade, Lagos was sacked by the British backed by the Egbas.
Yet now we speak of breaking Nigeria up. Aude Sapere, break it up till when? Who will lead the Igbo? Will an Ekiti man follow an Egba man? WIll an Ibadan man live in peace with an Ijebu man? Who will preside over an Ijaw council? A nomadic tribe that never had a major city? Will Kanem Borno who till this day do not have an Emir in Maiduguri follow the Sultanate? and spit on their freedom and history, Or will Kano decide they want a "fresh start" outside the influence of the current Sultan. Where does Nassarawa, Taraba, Gombe go? Nupe and Borgu form a bendel kingdom and will Bini rule over Ishan again?
Best thing for us is a federal system, non centralized with a figurehead president. Let every LGA (not state) every LGA should administer itself, and let the states provide some Guidance, states should not be split by Tribe (just encourages the the worse of the bogeymen, at least corruption never led to genocide)
Think for yourself and do not fall for what the narrative says. Yes, a true federal system is what an ethnically diverse country like Nigeria needs. That is what the National Confab tried to achieve. I hope Buhari implements the recommendations from that confab if he really means well for this country. Otherwise I foresee a disintegration of Nigeria. |

@anonimi thanks very much for posting those articles on the massive fraud Fashola is carrying out in Lagos. A major part of that 160b dollars loan has obviously ended up in private pockets. And that's why they have not been able to deliver the rail project. And to think they are going to be providing us with very outdated and unsafe railcars. It would be interesting to see how APC will fight corruption. In any case, Lagosians are getting the leadership we deserve. We had the opportunity to make a positive change. |

Politics › Re: Ezekwesili Defends Stance, Says No Empirical Evidence Obasanjo Is Corrupt by poseidon12: 6:00pm On May 06, 2015 |
oduastates: Obasanjo is definitely corrupt when universal standards are used. He did not directly dipped his hands in the treasury like jonathan ,Abacha,Babangida( the reason why he accumulated a $60 billion reserve) Obasanjo's corruption was more of conflict of interest like giving patronage and collecting donations from people who want patronage from the government. But based on what came before him and the record which Yaradua and jonathan have set , It is safe to say that obj is not corrupt. Oga I assume you are not aware of Obasanjo's involvement in the Halliburton bribery scandal. Also, the US authorities had to levy fine on Andy Uba because he smuggled into the US 175,000 dollars cash without declaration. The cash was in the same presidential jet used by Obj for a trip to the UN. He was accompanied by Andy Uba. In addition to using part of the money to buy a Mercedes car, some farm equipment were also bought for Obasanjo Farms Ltd. Don't expect me to believe Obj did not know about these deals. As president, I don't expect he will personally handle such deals. By any standard, Obasanjo was definitely corrupt. Same with GEJ and Abacha. Lets call a spade a spade. |

If this incoming government can channel all that money into fixing our refineries and building more, we will be just fine. Well, the finance minister wanted to remove the subsidy completely but the all-knowing masses and labor groups refused and demonized her. And here we are still with long fuel queues and 200plus naira per liter. |

I see you have a deep passion for dogs!
Reach me via mail...i will give you a Rottweiler Pup...i tend to want to trust you with a pup.
Sorry again. Thank you very much maxtum. You are right; I have a deep passion for dogs (and cats too). I have realised however, how difficult it can be to keep pet in Nigeria if you live in a block of flats in the city. At a point I even got a quit notice from my landlord because his wife doesn't like dogs although I informed him that I have a dog before moving in. It took the intervention of his son who also loves dogs (he owns 2 dogs in his house) to rescind the quit notice. So for now, I would take a breather until I move to a more convenient residence. Your trust in me is not misplaced though. I will do my best for any pet I own. It pains me when I see people keeping pets they can't take good care of. I really appreciate your support and offer. I will stay in touch. |
