Sabotage is obviously a factor. But there is glaring incompetence too. Someone mentioned the mercenary group from South Africa Executive Outcomes, that were hired by the GEJ regime in the run up to the 2015 election. They decimated Boko Haram inspite of the sabotage factor. Not to single out the Army, Nigeria is generally incompetent in every sector.

As for the topic, if Nigeria was a normal country, there should be no problem with anyone wearing camouflage. The reason is that in normal societies, eg USA, the law is enforced by the Police. The Army is only involved in fighting wars, mostly outside the country. The soldiers don't have any right to arrest or mistreat anyone. So wearing a camo in the US does not give you any right above anyone. But in Nigeria, it's a different story. Soldiers are involved in Police duties, even with traffic control. So, yes wearing camo by civilians should not be allowed in Nigeria.

Yep. NNPC should be sold ASAP. Government has no business running a business. Government should only play regulatory role. The privatization should make NNPC operations more transparent and should reduce corruption in Nigeria. What we should watch out for is how the privatization is done. The most competent hands should take over, unlike what happened with the power sector.

The casualty figure was over 80. BOKO swept metele waited for Army reinforcements and swept them again. The few surviving combatants had to go MIA. The attack even cost the CO a lieutenant Colonel his life.
