I once put forward a suggestion on how the admission problem in Nigeria. would be solved n somebody criticised it for not promoting national unity n coherence now I want to modify it,let the States be group by picking a state from each zone to form the group e.g Lagos,bayelsa,ebonyi,Benue,Gombe,zamfara.let all polytechnic be converted to colleges of technology with the right to award up to a maximum of 1st degree only,same thing to colleges of agric,education n the rest,while the universities should be sanitized n continue as they are now.let the students from states within each group apply directly to any school of their choice in the group n undergo a mandatory preliminary course of 6months undergo exams n then continue if successful, let the admission requirements be uniform nationwide, let the NUC be converted to national universities n colleges commission(NUCC),let JAMB be purely administrative n supervisory.any other modifications can be incorporated for improvement. all this processes of jamb,cut of scores,catchment area,educational backward States n so on are just too cumbersome n retrogressive.

The problem with the present provision in the constitution is that it is the members of the FEC appointed by the sitting president are expected to take the very critical step which is almost an impossibility, no specific time frame is even given when the step should be activated n so there is a lacuna,a provision stating clearly n specifically how long the president should be away from his sit after which his state of capacity should be determined, n also any of the vice president,Senate president, house speaker or leader of the opposition should be empowered to request for such determination when the time is due will just do justice to this Kind of situation,yes there is no perfect constitution anywhere n that's y the constitution should be a continuous work in progress in view if unforseen situations,the process of our constitutional amendments should also not be too burdensome as it is now, a 70% vote by the actual members of the national assembly should be enough to effect an amendment, 70% is wide spread n a tough task enough for national acceptance,the present process is just too complicated,burdensome,counter productive,n retrogressive. what do you think?.
