People are given a paper stating their reason for rejection.
Unfortunately most of the people that post here do not seem to read it!
The V.O. does not have the time to explain every detail to every rejected person, that is what the paper is for.
Obviously, the US Embassy does not give specific reason on visa rejection. Because if they do so, the information might have become public and there are drawbacks with regard to visa examination in which some applicants would manoeuvre to get visas and enter America for illegal purposes. This is why the VOs on here cannot answer questions based on visa rejection or try to put you through in order to get your visa.

Notwithstanding though, if you are attentive during your interview, you will definitely know why you're being denied a visa, for some nice and kind-hearted COs unwillingly give clues on why your application was turned down.

This is also why I asked Chiezzh to relax a little bit before re-applying in order to beat the VO's pre-assumption of abandoning his studies when he gets to the States, even if he really wants to study.

Getting a Ph.D. from an American university has always been dream. But like many HND graduates, I always wondered if I would be able to continue with my studies in the US with a Nigerian HND. Would the HND be recognized as the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree? I had no clue until I came across and blog.

Hmm. Very helpful.

You will be denied again... it is pointless applying right away. Would be better if you waited another year then tried again. This time prepare as thoroughly as you can. A pattern of applications in quick succession and subsequent denials will simply show you as desperate.

Please, if you have any person bearing AYO, try and tell him/her to hide...Because AYO lama fi sodun!!! Ehn, I have read this thread well and I didn't see anyone apply to Havard, John Hopkins, MIT, Stanford and to mention a few. Where those people with high GRE scores now? make una apply there jawe and make una come gist us about the school jawe

Those people typically know what they need to do or where to get the necessary information. They are less likely to be here asking silly questions like "how can i search for schools?", "who can give me a template for a TA application?", what schools do not require SAT/TOEFL?".

My advice: strike out TAMU, that's if it's College station, your GRE doesn't quite cut and also you will need a potential advisor willing to take you in. Also UL Lafayette doesn't give uncoming students funding from my findings. Although you can get GA after your first semester. Don't know about the others.
