^^^ Sir - what is your point?
my point is that we have a government of misplaced priorities. All these structures they are building will be run by generators, which is foolish. Only in Nigeria will you have leaders who build all these gargantuan buildings and power them with generators.

Only in Nigeria will people buy half a million dollar cars and drive them on pot holes. The list goes on and on. But I can tell you have a typical Nigerian mentality, just like our politicians, so the above explanation will probably make no sense to you.

I drove from Ibadan to Abuja once and I feared for my life all through the journey. It was shameful that roads leading to the FCT were "face me I face you" roads. The side of the roads were replete with remnants of cars that were obviously in head-on collision accidents. Upon arriving at Abuja, because of inadequate electricity, I had a choice of sleeping in either darkness and heat or with light and A/C but accompanied with background noise of the generators, not to mention the incessant fumes released into the atmosphere by these generators. Yet they are building all these useless projects.

Anyone on this forum criticising these projects is a bit misguided. Some posters here even laughably describe it as a waste of money??!!
You only need a basic understanding of Economics to know that these projects do the following:

1. A form of Urban regeneration that will boost the local economy and incentivise investment(local and international).

2. Massive structural projects like these stimulate job creation (construction workers, employees to staff newly rented commercial space, ancillary work opportunities for individual and companies that will service the future companies)

3. Tax revenues from the companies that take up the commercial spaces.

4.Serves as local economic stimulus in the form of increased consumer spending in the commercial spaces.

In summary the Projects are a very good thing and for all the nay sayers here i challenge you to point out one nation in the history of human civilization that has successfully eradicated poverty regardless of how wealthy they are (GDP considered).

You should at least applaud a good thing when you see it and stop all the cretinous remarks!!!
What about fixing the electricity sector first before investing in all these non-sustainable projects. Stable electricity is the engine that drives a country. They are trying to create a first-world brick and mortar infrastructure without providing the corresponding first-world amenities that are needed to support these infrastructure: electricity, good interstate and intrastate roads, solid rail network, good internet infrastructure, security, education, and so on. What our government is doing is putting the cart in front of the horse, which is how fools act.
RomanceRe: Would You Still Go Ahead With The Marriage If He Asks You To Sign A Prenup? by Princek12(op): 3:33pm On Dec 19, 2011
Mrs, Chima:
We are not talking about YOUR MOTIVE TO GET MARRIED, we are talking about the overall arrangement of marriage.  Anytime money/fund/collateral/bonds is exchanged between a customer and an organization, it is a business transaction/arrangement.

Again, marriage IN TODAY'S society is a business arrangement when governments INTERFERE with God's natural orders.

Forefathers and mothers back in the ancient times weren't paying court fees and licenses fees to get married.  Prenuptial agreements are contracts therefore it is a business transaction and if you get a divorce in developing countries divorce IS LUCRATIVE.

That smells like business arrangement to me.
You are right. Marriage is a business arrangement memorialized by a contract. Not signing a prenup does not prevent a marriage from being a contract, as both parties contract to spend their lives together for better or for worse. Signing a prenup protects the assets of the parties in case it does not work out, which happens frequently.
PhonesRe: Blackberries To Get Android Phones? by Princek12(m): 3:28pm On Dec 19, 2011
Naija girls will not give up their Blackberry for Android-based phones. Even here in Yankee where Blackberry phones are struggling to keep their heads above water because of the dominance of the Android system and Iphones, majority of Naija girls still have Blackberries.

The BBM allows them to gossip with their friends in Yankee and Naija, which to them is more beneficial than any technology that Android and Iphone has to offer.
RomanceRe: Would You Still Go Ahead With The Marriage If He Asks You To Sign A Prenup? by Princek12(op): 8:50am On Dec 19, 2011
Mrs, Chima:
If the prenup is fair and sensible for both parties then I don't see an issue.  Just know by law a person can contest the prenup as unfair and unjust so many people doesn't know that prenup agreements aren't always withstanding.

Ladies, prenup agreements in some cases can protect you and if you have a good lawyer the prenup agreement can be written so that both parties are given fair share of everything earned after the marriage because who knows what can happen.  You may end up being the bread winner and without a prenup, your assets are divided or dissolved.

So if a man feels comfortable enough to ask you for a prenup then he doesn't trust you.
so, in the same vein, are you saying lady who asks for a prenup does not trust him?

Do people in here understand what the meaning of private developments? Who told you all the projects are government funded? Why not think instead of just working yourself up un necessarily?
You think Nigerians are fools? All these projects, marked as private developments, are avenues through which government money is funneled. Often times, stolen funds are actually used to construct this projects, and our politicians are stakeholders in many of these projects.  It is tantamount to money laundering in the underground world, where mafia lords look for entrepreneurs who are willing to help transform dirty money into clean money through their respective enterprises.

Let's use Lagos as a case study. All those Lekki projects developed by Asiwaju Tinubu are on it face called private projects, but we all know where Tinubu got the money from. Why hasn't any private sector project in the power industry taken off?

RomanceWould You Still Go Ahead With The Marriage If He Asks You To Sign A Prenup? by Princek12(op): 8:18am On Dec 19, 2011
In light of the drama connected with Kobe Bryant's wife filing for divorce, I decided to ask Nairaland women whether they would still go ahead and marry their boyfriends if he requested that they sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage. Except you are living under a rock, we all know that Kobe Bryant's filed for divorce and that Kobe did not have her sign a prenuptial agreement.

Now, reportedly worth around $360 million dollars, Kobe Bryant, under California law, stands to loose one half of his net worth to a woman who did nothing other than look pretty and have his kids. I am not reckoning that she deserves nothing, but that rich and successful men need to protect their assets from predators who are thirsty and marry rich men ONLY for the purpose of collecting one half of these men's assets upon divorce.

Now, my wonderful ladies of Nairaland, if your honey tells you that he will not marry you unless you agree to a prenuptial agreement, wetin una go do ooooooooooooo?

I don't know what kind of ediots these guys like Kobe are. Guys like Rooney, Beckham, Tiger etc.

These foools are stars that already know how rich they would be, know women will throw themselves at them and yet still went to marry early. This foool that was obviously going to be a Basketball star married at 23. What kind of foool is this ffs?

Then they marry withou prenup and then cheat.

Morons! They are so daft to the brain. What the FCK are they gaining from the early marriage? WHAT?

Fooools! Enjoy your life till you are old (strap up) and if you still want to marry after that, then marry.
you get winch? I was thinking the same thing. He married at en early age knowing he was not ready to settle down and that women will throw themselves at him. Obviously, he had not gotten out of his system f-ucking lots of punny. Worse yet, he married (what I consider to be a gold digger) without having the girl sign a prenup. Them sey maga still dey pay, so I guess they are right.

no stable electricity that could help develop our manufacturing sector

just about all our interstate roads, and many intrastate roads, are death traps

no drinking water from a public source comes out of the tap/faucet

extrajudicial killings by the police and military, along with bribery collections, all under broad day light, is still the order of the day

our educational system, at all levels, is on a verge of collapse. our graduates, for example architects, cannot draw a line to connect two dots; our electrical engineers cannot build a simple circuit board.

yet, these bastards are constructing all these patch patch projects when the projects that actually transforms a country from developing to emerging to advanced are ignored.

and you say we don't have "fools" in power.
BusinessRe: Ikeja City Mall At Alausa by Princek12(m): 4:16am On Dec 19, 2011
I welcome the building of these malls and its impact on changing the way products, especially foodstuff, are being retailed. People shopping in malls rather than on the streets will reduce the transmission of food-borne diseases and the amount of foot traffic on our roads. Less foot traffic on our roads will facilitate the flow of traffic and reduce traffic congestion.

Blackberry phones fit dey out of style for Yankee, but e no dey out of style for Naija oooo. Last time I checked the Nigerian stock market, those girls for Naija are still trading punny for Blackberries.

This is to show that we are suffering of lack of population to occupy other town, lets continue to make more babies to get more cities.
I hope you are joking. It means that our population are not evenly distributed over our land mass. Too many citizens are disproportionately aggregated in cities, leaving our remote towns underpopulated.

@OP:

The guy has gone to spend his money on other women who will give him a bountiful harvest for the seeds he will sow. You were being stingy with the punny, so he decided that spending money on you for xmas was a high risk investment, for the prospect of yielding dividends were slim. Next time stop being stingy: give, and it shall be given unto you. He who has ears, the elders say, let him hear.
RomanceRe: Desperate To Find A Husband,is It Normal To Feel This Way? by Princek12(m): 10:04pm On Dec 17, 2011
Mrs, Chima:
I know it would be hard for you to believe, but NOT ALL WOMEN ARE DESPERATE.   The same thing for men who are desperate for wives and AREN'T WILLING to admit it.
You are right. There are also men who are desperate to get married but won't admit it. But I find that naturally the issue of biological clock more likely makes women more desperate than men to get married, especially when they are approaching the age of, say, 40. Nevertheless, desperation makes people to make imprudent decisions.
RomanceRe: Desperate To Find A Husband,is It Normal To Feel This Way? by Princek12(m): 3:31pm On Dec 17, 2011
It is normal to desire to be married, but it is worrisome to be desperate to do so. Desperation often causes people to make unsound decisions, so I caution you not to be desperate but to be open and to prepare yourself to receive your future husband when you meet him. Overall, I commend your openly admitting that you are desperate to find a husband, as not many women are brazen enough to admit such.
