werepeLeri:my point is that we have a government of misplaced priorities. All these structures they are building will be run by generators, which is foolish. Only in Nigeria will you have leaders who build all these gargantuan buildings and power them with generators. Only in Nigeria will people buy half a million dollar cars and drive them on pot holes. The list goes on and on. But I can tell you have a typical Nigerian mentality, just like our politicians, so the above explanation will probably make no sense to you. I drove from Ibadan to Abuja once and I feared for my life all through the journey. It was shameful that roads leading to the FCT were "face me I face you" roads. The side of the roads were replete with remnants of cars that were obviously in head-on collision accidents. Upon arriving at Abuja, because of inadequate electricity, I had a choice of sleeping in either darkness and heat or with light and A/C but accompanied with background noise of the generators, not to mention the incessant fumes released into the atmosphere by these generators. Yet they are building all these useless projects. |
Krucifax:What about fixing the electricity sector first before investing in all these non-sustainable projects. Stable electricity is the engine that drives a country. They are trying to create a first-world brick and mortar infrastructure without providing the corresponding first-world amenities that are needed to support these infrastructure: electricity, good interstate and intrastate roads, solid rail network, good internet infrastructure, security, education, and so on. What our government is doing is putting the cart in front of the horse, which is how fools act. |
Mrs, Chima:You are right. Marriage is a business arrangement memorialized by a contract. Not signing a prenup does not prevent a marriage from being a contract, as both parties contract to spend their lives together for better or for worse. Signing a prenup protects the assets of the parties in case it does not work out, which happens frequently. |
Naija girls will not give up their Blackberry for Android-based phones. Even here in Yankee where Blackberry phones are struggling to keep their heads above water because of the dominance of the Android system and Iphones, majority of Naija girls still have Blackberries. The BBM allows them to gossip with their friends in Yankee and Naija, which to them is more beneficial than any technology that Android and Iphone has to offer. |
Mrs, Chima:so, in the same vein, are you saying lady who asks for a prenup does not trust him? |
werepeLeri:You think Nigerians are fools? All these projects, marked as private developments, are avenues through which government money is funneled. Often times, stolen funds are actually used to construct this projects, and our politicians are stakeholders in many of these projects. It is tantamount to money laundering in the underground world, where mafia lords look for entrepreneurs who are willing to help transform dirty money into clean money through their respective enterprises. Let's use Lagos as a case study. All those Lekki projects developed by Asiwaju Tinubu are on it face called private projects, but we all know where Tinubu got the money from. Why hasn't any private sector project in the power industry taken off? |
pendo89:hopefully |
In light of the drama connected with Kobe Bryant's wife filing for divorce, I decided to ask Nairaland women whether they would still go ahead and marry their boyfriends if he requested that they sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage. Except you are living under a rock, we all know that Kobe Bryant's filed for divorce and that Kobe did not have her sign a prenuptial agreement. Now, reportedly worth around $360 million dollars, Kobe Bryant, under California law, stands to loose one half of his net worth to a woman who did nothing other than look pretty and have his kids. I am not reckoning that she deserves nothing, but that rich and successful men need to protect their assets from predators who are thirsty and marry rich men ONLY for the purpose of collecting one half of these men's assets upon divorce. Now, my wonderful ladies of Nairaland, if your honey tells you that he will not marry you unless you agree to a prenuptial agreement, wetin una go do ooooooooooooo? |
Sagamite:you get winch? I was thinking the same thing. He married at en early age knowing he was not ready to settle down and that women will throw themselves at him. Obviously, he had not gotten out of his system f-ucking lots of punny. Worse yet, he married (what I consider to be a gold digger) without having the girl sign a prenup. Them sey maga still dey pay, so I guess they are right. |
no stable electricity that could help develop our manufacturing sector just about all our interstate roads, and many intrastate roads, are death traps no drinking water from a public source comes out of the tap/faucet extrajudicial killings by the police and military, along with bribery collections, all under broad day light, is still the order of the day our educational system, at all levels, is on a verge of collapse. our graduates, for example architects, cannot draw a line to connect two dots; our electrical engineers cannot build a simple circuit board. yet, these bastards are constructing all these patch patch projects when the projects that actually transforms a country from developing to emerging to advanced are ignored. and you say we don't have "fools" in power. |
I welcome the building of these malls and its impact on changing the way products, especially foodstuff, are being retailed. People shopping in malls rather than on the streets will reduce the transmission of food-borne diseases and the amount of foot traffic on our roads. Less foot traffic on our roads will facilitate the flow of traffic and reduce traffic congestion. |
Mrs, Chima:Blackberry phones fit dey out of style for Yankee, but e no dey out of style for Naija oooo. Last time I checked the Nigerian stock market, those girls for Naija are still trading punny for Blackberries. |
deor03:probably to make it look diverse and international |
nakedall:I hope you are joking. It means that our population are not evenly distributed over our land mass. Too many citizens are disproportionately aggregated in cities, leaving our remote towns underpopulated. |
ola_pluto:links now. abeg |
@OP: Abi you wan change career make you become preacher? Na wa oooo. This your sermon fear me ooo. |
any links? Africa, Nigeria are so third world |
@OP: The guy has gone to spend his money on other women who will give him a bountiful harvest for the seeds he will sow. You were being stingy with the punny, so he decided that spending money on you for xmas was a high risk investment, for the prospect of yielding dividends were slim. Next time stop being stingy: give, and it shall be given unto you. He who has ears, the elders say, let him hear. |
Mrs, Chima:You are right. There are also men who are desperate to get married but won't admit it. But I find that naturally the issue of biological clock more likely makes women more desperate than men to get married, especially when they are approaching the age of, say, 40. Nevertheless, desperation makes people to make imprudent decisions. |
It is normal to desire to be married, but it is worrisome to be desperate to do so. Desperation often causes people to make unsound decisions, so I caution you not to be desperate but to be open and to prepare yourself to receive your future husband when you meet him. Overall, I commend your openly admitting that you are desperate to find a husband, as not many women are brazen enough to admit such. |
