Sports › Do You Think Fifa Should Adopt A Goal Tending Rule? by Princek12(op): 6:11am On Jul 03, 2010 |
Everyone saw what happened in the Ghana v. Uruguay game. Do you think FIFA should adopt a goal tending rule, which will award a goal when a player (who is obviously not a goalie) from the opposing team intentionally stops the ball from scoring with his hands; in other words, should a goal be awarded against a team whose non goalie player turns himself into a de facto goalie. Take a look at the video again to see how Suarez got away with "murder." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwq_y1yQZ_s&feature=player_embedded |

It appears Jonathan is more concerned about preserving his ego than furthering the interests of football. Once FIFA gives Nigeria a 25-yr ban, then all these folks will wake up and reality will set in. What will the point in restructuring your football if you can't participate in the competitions. At that point, you might as well obliterate the NFF. |

soloqy: Which facts are you asking him to get straight. People who know what is going on have explained to you several times what happened but you keep ranting around the whole place.I also highlighted to you what the Minister went through with FIFA but you totally ignored that and continued calling people who have divergent views names. For the benefit of doubt lets recount it to you again. After we lost at SA(this was widely reported), the Minister met with FIFA officials and told them about wide spread corruption and how we need to sanitize the FA and as such, probes and account audits have to be made. FIFA, instead of giving support for the laudable cause, warned Nigeria of interference.
That means that any probe, arrest, or intimidation of the NFF officials, would mean interference and would result to the same ban. What was the government to do in this situation? Simply withdraw from FIFA competitions and sort the NFF out. Yes everyone was aware of the consequences so there was no going back.
You think if it was just easy to probe them without FIFA banning us that they wouldnt do that? Do you think the target of all this is our National teams? The target is and has always been the NFF. You are the one to get facts straight. I am aware of the preceding events. So now, can you explain how the NFF officials are elected? |

soloqy: You still dont get it do you?
After the people abroad and wherever cheers the super eagles while playing, then what? After Adidas sells super Eagles jersey(which no amount comes into Nigeria's accts.) then what? The foreigners calling you and expressing their frustrations to you, do they have FA's that still millions of dollars from accounts and tell them they must never probe them or FIFA will ban them? Ok, the foreigners that are so frustrated with the decision, do they have the huge number of unemployed citizens that cant boast of earning 5k per month on salary while their government wastes millions of dollars on some arrogant, spoilt footballers and a band of criminals in the NFF? I bet the foreigners who love our football so much, have other stuff that are working for them in the country and thats why they have all the time to be so engaged in our football yeah?
Why are you too not seeing beyond your nose? Why is your inordinate desire for entertainment that comes in the name of football stopping you from also thinking it through and seeing other sides to this?
Some of you people think its only when you call others names in your post that you will appear sensible or learned. The reverse is the case man. You won't get it, for you have the typical Nigerian mentality. That is the same thing a 419 says, that he does not care about Nigeria's image because he wants to make a dime. My point is that we need to think about the far reaching consequences of what we do before we do it. |

The problem with a lot of unexposed people here supporting the ban is that they don't realize that the Super Eagles play not only for Nigerian fans at home and abroad but also to other foreign nationals and non African black people, all of whom cheer for the success of black and African teams, particularly Nigeria. They have all been calling me and expressing their frustration about the ban. The Super Eagles jersey is sold by Adidas worldwide; these idiots do not realize the impact of the ban on jersey sales and the brand of the Super Eagles. All these near sighted people. Many of the black folks were all cheering for the African teams and today were cheering for Ghana. |

soloqy: The last time , you called those that support the president's move fools but are you so dimwitted not to understand that all you highlighted above will be tantamount to "interference"(according to fifa) and would attract the same ban? In case you dont have an inkling, the Minister met with FIFA officials after our ouster and intimated them of the massive waste and fraud in the NFF and how they need to probe the activities. What did the monster FIFA say? They chose to cover the criminals at NFF and warned the goverment of interference. What was the Government to do after that? Jonathan didnt just wake up and take the decision. Government had reached out to FIFA about our peculiar case.
You all should go siddon for corner jare . Arresting and prosecuting NFF officials who break the law is not interference; get your facts straight. Jonathan just woke up and took the decision. So anytime anyone in the NFF embezzles money, the next thing to do is to suspend the national team from competitions? At least the prudent thing to do is to start the rebuilding process b first of all going after those thieves in the glass house, not just abruptly suspending the national team from competitions. It shows that a lot of Nigerians supporting the ban reason like Jonathan, and they will make similar decisions in matters that affect their daily lives as well as their families; for example, they will be making swift, ill-informed decisions without giving due regard to the ominous consequences that will flow from those decisions. My biggest suprise is how Nigerians are heavily supporting this, dont people understand that if FIFA bans us, they will ban our womens and all Junior teams from competing, i repeat, ALLL teams, from the u-17 to olympic u-23 and womens thereoff. Ah well i guess ill support Canada in the next worldcup since Nigeria wont be there I agree with you. It will set us back for a long, long time. People allow emotions to cloud their reasoning, which is clearly evident with all these supporters of the ban. They won't realize it until when they don't see Nigeria competing in the next African Cup of Nations and all the other tournaments. How will our young footballers showcase their talent? sholademi1: @Princek12, Dt restructuring u r talking abt still amount to government interference under Fifa rule. R u aware dt not even ex-footballers r allowed 2contest in d glass house? dey'v perfected dia constitution in a manner dt such restructuring u r talking abt is not supported. So d best solution is wot GJ has done. What are you talking about? So if Lulu has embezzled funds from the govt. (which we all know he has), are you saying according to FIFA rule, EFCC cannot arrest and prosecute him for embezzlement? Jonathan should dispatch the EFCC to arrest them for embezzling all the money that was allocated to them. At least FIFA cannot call that interference, because in that instance, any country is within its power to arrest and prosecute anyone who embezzles govt, money. THat is the kind of restructuring I am talking about. We have elections coming up in, I believe, August, so why can't we have other candidates run for office. And does anyone know the procedures used in electing the NFF board> |

sholademi1: Peeps shld realize dt dissolving NFF alone will also amount to 2yrs ban frm Fifa. Fifa will at d end of d 2yrs ban ask Nigeria to restore power to d present NFF members. Therefore, our withdrawal frm Int'l competition for 2yrs isn't bad as we stand a chance 2cleanse d rot in d football house n come back strong after d ban. I'm happy GJ has constituted d caretaker committee to handle d FA affairs 4d nxt 2yrs. You don't know what you are talking about; show proof of how dissolving the NFF alone will result to 2yrs ban from FIFA. You can restructure the administration of the NFF without dissolving it. There has to a process by which members get elected, right? All you have to do is change the process. Have each state vote for its preferred candidate. Remember the last time we were suspended, it was because Abacha withdrew us from an int. competition. Also Togo was suspended for withdrawing its team from ACN. Give an instance where dissolving or restructuring NFF admin amounts to ban |

Do you know how many people that died in this world cup because of poor performance of supper eagles. Is super eagles bigger that Nigeria? Super eagles exit because Nigeria exist. You are right that Nigeria is a sovereign country, so Nigeria has voluntarily exercised the power of her sovereign by withdrawing itself from international football. FIFA is also a sovereign organization, and it has exercised the power of its own sovereign by saying you have to play by our rules to participate in our competitions. I hope you realize that FIFA is not the United Nations, and the same rule applies to all countries. So why should Nigeria exempt itself from abiding by FIFA rules? |

To all the people supporting Jonathan Badluck's ban, let's see if you will be happy if FIFA suspends Nigeria from international competition! I still can't believe that many Nigerians are supporting this ban; it shows that the supporters of this ban have limited vision. No one is not saying that he should not dissolve the NFF, but to go as far as to suspend the National team, he has clearly crossed the line.
He has shown that he is the kind of president who is quick to act without closely evaluating the impact of his proposed actions, and that is a repugnant trait that he has shown to have. He has lost my support. |
Politics › Does Jonathan's Recent Ban Show That He Has Bad Judgment As A Leader? by Princek12(op): 11:34am On Jul 02, 2010 |
It is common knowledge that Government has no business in meddling with football affairs, especially to the extent of suspending its National team from international competition for two years. With this move, Jonathan acted as though the Super Eagles belongs to him rather than to millions of soccer-loving Nigerians. He has also shown that he has bad judgment, for he could have easily dissolved NFF administration without withdrawing the National team from international competitions. Furthermore, if his purpose is to improve the standing of Super Eagles in international competitions, does he not realize that going two years without competitive football--or possibly four years or more, if FIFA suspends Nigeria because of Govt. interference- will damage the Super Eagles's brand globally, and the players will be understandably rusty for a while because of such prolonged absence from international competitions.
What makes Jonathan different from Abacha, with respect to the harm he caused the Eagles when he withdrew them from the ACN? There are also other more pressing issues other than football that are more deserving of presidential attention, but no, instead of focusing on how to fix the dilapidated and embarrassing state of Nigeria's infrastructure, Jonathan is diverting way too much energy to football. Abeg, Mr. Jonathan, is this a sign that you will bring "badluck" to Nigeria? I think it's time to take a second look at the man whom many Nigerians had prematurely bestowed the title as Nigeria's savior. After all, his judgment on this football issue may show why he is not the right man to transition Nigeria from her current state to the place where she deserves to be. |
Sports › Re: Jonathan Bans Nigeria From International Football For Two Years by Princek12(m): 11:03am On Jul 02, 2010 |
soloqy: My guy, this is what some of us have been trying to let them understand. I highlighted some reasons why this was done on page 6 of this thread. They don't think through but just jump in and start cursing all around the place.
Dont you guys get it? If he goes first to ban NFF, its the same interference and that would immediately provoke the FIFA ban. He wisely withdrew our teams from football(purportedly for 2years ). This has suddenly given us options. The thieves at NFF can then be probed and dealt with while FIFA is left scratching its head on what to do. What stops Jonathan from going back after 1 month and requesting to be admitted back(with a brand new NFF).
Please we ask again, with the billions of naira expended on the NFF and our National team, what have we gained? Is football the only thing that engages the youth? What about millions that are unemployed? If we cant provide them jobs, dont they at least deserve to know what we do with the Nation's money?
A cancerous part of the body most often than not, needs to be totally cut off for the whole body to Live. The NFF is a cancer that needs to be taken away at the roots. Thats why this was done.
Please for those who are screaming that Jonathan doesnt know anything at that he doesnt know FIFA rules, I assure you that he does know the rules and the consequences. So if NFF is the cancer, just as you have stated, why doesn't Jonathan eliminate the cancer (NFF) without withdrawing the SE from international competitions. According to your reasoning, you cannot eliminate the cancer without killing the patient. In that case, it defeats the purpose of eliminating the cancer. Here, it defeats the purpose of rebuilding the Eagles if they can't compete in international competitions for two years or more, assuming FIFA suspends us because of govt. interference in football affairs. At the end of the suspension, the SE would have suffered a serious setback. It is shocking that so many Nigerians who are supporting this ban cannot foresee the seemingly inevitable ominous consequences of this ban. |
