U obviously haven't ran a manufacturering business in Nigeria ..I have and believe u me it's as if all policy are out to make u fail

Getting dollar as an igbo man is hard
Clearing your machines from port is war
Transportation to east is battle
Electricity in the east is poor n no gas pipeline like u have in OTA so companies can produce their own power easily
To be honest with you, this your comment is very unfortunate to say the least.

Who told you there is no gas pipeline to Aba? Shell built gas pipelines that is currently supplying gas to both industries and power generating companies like Geometric!

Geometric in Aba is also supplying electricity to industries in Aba! I don't think Ota has it any better than Aba in terms of gas or electricity supply!!

What has getting dollar as an Igbo man got to do with where you site your industry? Would they start supplying you dollars if you build in Lagos instead of Onitsha?

Did you say transportation? But I gave you an example of a company that is based in Lagos but gets its products from a factory that is based in Enugu, so how do they transport their own goods??

I hate when people only complain and give excuses instead of being bold and confronting challenges. If Innoson has your type of mindset, he would have built his vehicle plants in Ogun state too.

Gosh, Igbos don't need people with your type of mindset!!

Aba as a whole is an eyesore. The whole town should be demolished and rebuilt from scratch.
Aba is actually far better planned with good houses than over 90% of SW towns/cities, if you doubt me pick any random SW town and let's compare with Aba instead of coming here to lie without shame.

That I'm constructively criticizing the government in Abia State doesn't mean you guys that are having it worse will come here and misbehave.

For me I won't blame the government, I will rather blame the shop owners, truth be told the government has tried to rebuild that market but the shop owners never wanted that to happen, because they don't trust the government and many other reasons.

I'm saying this because my uncle and my cousin have a shop in ariaria.
No, don't put the blame on shop owners please. The state government is absolutely to blame here.

When Oshodi was demolished, do you know how much the traders tried to resist?

When Eke Onuwa Owerri was demolished, do you know how much the traders tried to resist?

It's only a passionate governor or government that knows its onions will look at the bigger picture and do what is right regardless of the challenges it may face. Those that condemn him at that point will later praise him, and posterity will judge him well.

People naturally resist change!

The simple truth have been revealed, the best brain in West made it possible for igbos to express their innate ability to be successful in commerce. The same can't be found in the east, their leaders don't have much brain power to cater for the needs of millions of people, blame it on not having a centralized culture. Those who'd have helped are mass immigrating to the west and north as they don't see their future at home.
Stop deluding yourself, Igbos are no longer mass migrating to the North, it only happened in the past but not anymore. I have seen more Igbo people relocating from North than moving to the North. Igbos are only mass migrating to Lagos and Abuja for obvious reasons just like Yorubas, Hausas and other Nigerians!

There are now probably more Igbos migrating to other African countries than anywhere else in Nigeria outside Abuja and Lagos.

This thread is for sane people and not Yabaleft excapees. If you're not a bigot and a hypocrite, then you won't be saying rubbish here when many places in Lagos and Ogun state are far worse! Unlike you guys that like suffering in silence we Igbos are not like that. All the areas around Iyana Ipaja, Iyana oba, Okokomaiko, Mushin and down to Sango Ota and its environ in Ogun state are worse than Aba! Even your Lekki that is supposed to be a highbrow areas is a mess whenever it rains! Between Igbos and Yorubas, almost everyone knows the group that are naturally dirty.

So stop making a fool of yourself here and borrow some sense! You can help offer ideas on how those terrible places in your zone can be made livable for humans instead of constituting nuisance here.

PoliticsHow Igbos Can Make Igboland The Most Industrialized Region Of Africa by proeast(op): 10:22am On Aug 25, 2021
*Example Goldworth manufacturing partnership with Solstan Nig. Ltd

It is no longer a secret that Igbos are not just a uniquely enterprising people but also highly gifted. Many reports have clearly stated the prowess of Igbos and even the staunchest critics would agree to that. However, Igbos are yet to fully leverage their potentials to turn our region into Africa's foremost industrial and production zone.

Truth be told, Igbos haven't done badly for their region. A place that was devastated and made desolate when the civil war ended in 1970 has transformed itself since then and is now faring better, pound for pound against other zones in Nigeria despite several impediments and stumbling block in their way. Unlike SW that is leveraging Lagos and core North that is leveraging federal government biased investments, SE has only themselves to build their region. Luckily for us, we have the capacity to even get far ahead of others in not just Nigeria but Africa.

Igbos are in control of a very important sector in Subsaharan Africa i.e trade and commerce. We have launched our tentacles all over Nigeria and beyond, and we keep moving!

Personally, I often look at the manufacturing address of any product before buying it and I give more priority to any product manufactured in the East before others in Nigeria or abroad. So, I looked at baby wipes my wife bought for our baby and was impressed at what I saw:

"Produced by Goldworth manufacturing company Ltd Enugu for Solstan Nig. Ltd trade Fair complex Lagos"

Solstan Nig. Ltd did not give this contract to any other company in Lagos but he came down to East, and gave it to a factory based in Enugu, Igboland! There are so many other "Solstans" based in Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Accra, Doula, P.H, or Bamako etc but they end up using companies that are not based in the East. This is not good for us in the long run, whether we remain in Nigeria or we are to get Biafra. If Innoson can build his plants in Nnewi, if Solstan can come all the way from Lagos to give this contract to an Enugu based factory, then nobody has excuse not to establish or partner with companies/industries based in the East.

If only 70% of our importers, manufacturers and distributers can follow the example of Solstan and Innoson, it will only take a short while before Igboland will overtake the Lagos region as the foremost industrial hub in Nigeria. When I'm talking about Igboland, I mean all SE and parts of Igbo speaking SS like Asaba BUT EXCLUDING P.H. I frown at Igbo investments in P.H same way I frown at Igbo investments in the North or elsewhere.

If the Jews and Chinese can achieve it then we Igbos can achieve it too!

Hmmm.....

Have you been to Ariaria market of recent?..
What has being from Abia State has to do with this issue? I always visit Ariaria and I was a resident of Abia State for donkey years.

Has anything changed in Ariaria? Pls tell me, I'm all ears.
PoliticsEnough Is Enough: Why Ariaria Market Must Be Demolished Now by proeast(op):
Anyone who visits Ariaria market will weep at the opportunities wasting away. This market is unarguably one of Africa's largest markets with tens of thousands of shops and production clusters. This market that used to be a pride to not just Aba or Abia State but indeed all Igbos has been reduced to a source of shame and embarrassment.

That Ariaria was allowed to decay is an indictment on all the governors that have ruled Abia State since 1999. It shows they're all a bunch of mediocres who are not fit to govern a state. I was going through my Twitter page a couple of pages ago only to be embarrassed at gory pictures that were trending and they called it Ariaria! The worst is that some of the handles displaying it has hundreds of thousands to millions of followers cut across the globe! In a modern world where information travels at the speed of light, this was nothing but gross demarketing of Aba, Abia State and to an extent SE region. It was indeed a huge shame!! Then I wondered why Ariaria would be like that, a market hub and production centre?!

Ariaria is not just a marketing hub but also a massive production cluster where goods like shoes, bags, cloths, belts are mass produced. However, it makes one to cringe when you look at how irresponsible governance has allowed a goldmine to be wasting away when it requires just policy making and passion to turn the tide and make Ariaria the money spinner it ought to be for Abia State.

It has become critical for Ariaria to be demolished in phases and be replaced with either a massive mall or several mid sized malls and plazas clustered together. There is nothing modern or international about Ariaria in its present state. I don't know if Okezie Ikpeazu is just plain wicked, bereft of ideas or an ogboni man to have left Ariaria in that state. Can't he look at what is going on in Ebonyi State and the revolutionary works of Umahi. Ebonyi is supposed to be a far poorer state than Abia but the sort of projects Umahi builds is something all the idiotic governors of Abia State combined can't achieve since 1999!

I had written severally in the past on the need to replace the archaic lock up shops in Ariaria with massive malls or plazas but nothing seems to change. Instead of having 30,000 derelict shops that get flooded and has leaky roofs whenever it rains, build modern malls and plazas. Construct a dual carriage way and connect it to the Osisioma end of the Enugu/P.H expressway.

What makes it more ironical is that the state government does not even need to spend its own money to achieve this because private investors and banks will be falling over themselves to invest on an extremely viable project such as Ariaria. Again, Ariaria already has a small power plant and Shell recently constructed a gas pipeline to Aba that will be supplying cheap and reliable gas for power generation. In addition, Geometric power is also in Aba, generating huge megawatts of electricity. What this means is that massive malls can be built and they will still be affordable, safe, and conducive since traders won't have need to be wasting money on fueling or repairing their noisy generators and suffering losses from flood or leaking roof.

The multiplier effect on Aba would be massive because international brands like LG and Samsung will start coming in to open branches in Aba. Employment will increase, revenue will increase, quality of life will improve and people will start rushing back to Aba like it used to be in the past.

I can't believe that a military that has at least 70% Muslims and Northerners yet most victims are always Southerners or Christians. If Southern politicians continue acting selfishly and irresponsibly in the face of all these conspiracy and attacks then it will eventually get to them. Northern Nigeria is unarguably the worst region of the world today. Worse than Afghanistan, South Sudan, Yemen or Syria. They thought they were doing Southerners when their leaders tactically encouraged all the madness going on there. Instead of nipping it in the bud when all these crimes and attrocities started, they rather supported it both overtly and covertly in the name of dirty politics. Now it has metastated and turned into a monster threatening to consume them.

The governor of Kaduna state El Rufai that once claimed he paid bandits to stop killing Kaduna people.

Governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari was busy taking selfie with fully armed bandits and was grinning from ear to ear.

Buhari claimed an attack on Boko Haram was an attack on the North. Most of their leaders one way or another encouraged the madness, but now it is threatening to totally destroy North.

Well, that's their business provided they keep the madness to themselves and never bring it down South.

bilms:
[s]2023; THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION MUST NOT STOP!
By Gbenga Olawepo Hashim

When I was growing up, it was the practise then, that women laid their wares by the roadside and indicated the price of the product by the numbers of stones they kept on the ground. No one took the products without dropping the correct sums of money, and no one who passed-by took the money and/or the wares away.

I so much long for a return to the country of simple and honest people that Nigeria was, and that is why it was easy for me to connect with the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) message of General Buhari and Idiagbon in 1983.

In Ilorin, Kwara State where I schooled, we were the disciples of Idiagbon's campaign against corruption as President of the Dramatic Society in Cherubim and Seraphim College. I was the lead actor in a drama skit against corruption on NTA Ilorin Youth scene. Also, I busted a pattern of stealing in the College Kiosk perpetrated by students appointed to supervise the kiosk, that is a story for another day, that readers would find in my coming autobiography “Sunrise at Midnight” by the of Grace of God. The first volume will be released soon.

Incidentally, the fight against corruption is a major plank of the Buhari Administration. Corruption is one of the major reason Nigeria is backward and the underbelly of some of the security problems of the country such as banditry.

Nigeria loses a lot to corruption. According to Price Water Cooper (PWC), a global Consulting outfit, if not arrested by 2030, corruption will be costing Nigeria 37% of her GDP; i.e. 200 billion USD, a whooping N100 trillion (Naira), about 10 times our national budget. It will translate to 1,000 USD per capital; five hundred thousand by each Nigerian. The significance of this on our lives, in terms of avoidable death is staggering.

Corruption in Nigeria is in various dimension in high places caused by indisciplined life styles, weak regulatory regimes and institutions, eroding ethics and values and a triumphant feeling of impunity that believes there will be no consequence for wrong doing!

At the lower levels, corruption is rationalized as a result of poor earnings. “Man go survive”, or as that everybody is doing it, “It is our way” But it is not our way.

The corruption situation is compounded by an increasingly expanding population of people with ethics and values system that have come to embrace corruption as an acceptable standard and become increasingly audacious that they attack men and women of integrity as “failures”, even though most of attackers come from the ranks of the poorest, they are choristers of those “nouveau-riche”, who have helped themselves from the public purse. They have a sizable presence online venerating corrupt lifestyle.

The fight against corruption is a serious business, law enforcement will not be enough to win it; regulatory reforms are important but just as well as ethical reform on a mass scale; the role of technology is also central in this fight as we aim to reduce the scope of human manipulation of the system.

The fight against corruption is winnable, before some agents of the corrupt start spreading their fatalistic slogan that no one is a saint. There are some inspiring examples in the system even right now; Professor Oloyede as head of JAMB has been returning billions of Naira to Federal Government coffers in an agency that has not returned millions before.

He is also fighting examination scams that have seen even parents of candidates as culprits. Oloyede is not a pastor or a Bishop.

He is a patriotic Nigerian, standing for good values. As a matter of fact, most religious houses have become more or less centres of corruption, where the teachings of obedience of God’s commandments and fear of God have long disappeared.

A good footstep in winning the battle to reduce corruption if not kill it totally, is to ensure that corrupt people with unexplainable wealth do not get elected at any level. Those who have explanation to make to anti-graft agencies and are aspiring for public offices must be put to task about their integrity question. If we are ever going to birth a new Nigeria. It cannot be with the corrupt as midwives![/s]
Afonja fool, when did it get started talk more of being stopped?!

It is good you know all these about the Ikwerres. It therefore put to rest the argument that Ikwerres are Igbos. From your analysis there is no way they could have been Igbos. Like I told you we don't mind anything you can describe us with as far as Ikwerres are Igbos is not part of it. We welcome it. Thanks.
Ikwerres are not Igbos, your forefathers were already sold as slaves, so you're just like others who found themselves in Haiti, USA, Jamaica, Fernando po etc but fortunately or unfortunately for ikwerres, they were stuck en route.

It is ikwerre that forces themselves on Igbos and our trade mark identities so they could amount to anything. The few notable people from ikwerre had to attach themselves to Igbos so they could be noticed, people like Mercy Chinwo, Tonto Dike, and Dunkan mighty would have remained local players running around from isiokpo to p.h but they had to attach to us Igbos to be recognized. So, if anyone is forcing themselves on another, it is actually ikwerre.

I understand the anger and frustrations ikwerre and ika people always exhibit, it is not unexpected considering their unflattering history. Being the descendants of slaves en route to the coast (ikwerre) or descendants of slaves sold to Benin (ika) is enough to make anyone bitter. I understand your plights and indeed feel pity for you guys. We Igbos have nothing against you and wish you good luck as you guys return or would I say, maintain your traditional roles to ijaws and binis. Other freeborn Igbos who have no such baggages like the Asaba Igbos and others wear their heritage with pride and when you look at the Asaba Igbos and other freeborn both in the SE and SS, you will see same similarities in terms of being high achievers and industrious.

Once again, I'm sorry for the fate that befell your forefathers.

Bros I am Ikwerre. The sentiment among us is that we prefer being a slave in an Ijaw man country to being a prince in Biafra. We have never been Igbos. We never identified with Igbos when we had everything to gain before the war let alone now we have everything to lose.
You Igbo people are making a huge mistake. Ikwerre man feels very superior to anything Igbo. It has been that way right from time. He views anything Igbos as slave related. You may not blame Jim since through his doorpost most Igbos were dragged to the Atlantic and across for slavery. He still has that mentality that anything associated with Igbo has to do with slaves. Forgive me but that is the thinking of a typical Ikwerre man. If you call him Igbo what runs to his mind is that you are calling him a slave.
As a prove if you have link to Amaechi or Wike or any Ikwerre man of substance just address him as an Isuoma person. If he doesn't scatter that place with you let me know what happened.
Isuoma is what the Ikwerres call the Igbos. It is as disdainful as the nyamiri the Hàusa Fulanis call the Igbos.
In all an Ikwerre man will never in his life accept to be Igbos.
It is only in recent time the Ikwerre daughters started to get married to the Igbo men. Previously it was resented. The men can marry them but not as first wife but as an aid to the first wife
You need to leave with the Ikwerres to understand this feeling.
Lol, this is the worst delusional drivel I have ever heard. Which ikwerre is this empty coconut head talking about? The same ikwerre that has always had a subservient relationship to Igbos or which one again? Ikwere has no direct link to the ocean so never played any role intermediary role between Igbo heartland and the white men, that delusions only happened in your head. Some school of thought even believe that ikwerres are descendants of Igbo slaves on transit to the coast.

Ikwerre people right from ages have always been known as naturally lazy, unenterprising, low achievers, unindustrious and has only being partly indigenous to P.H as bragging rights, which on its own shows how backward thinking they are.

Ikwere is an unrecognizable minority group no one knows in the North of Nigeria talk more of outside the country. The level and global fame Igbos have achieved is something ikwerre people can only dream of but will never achieve till the end of time.

Goodluck to you guys in your slavery and servitude to Ijaws, it's not a new development anyway. Ijaws have always been your masters since the time of old Rivers State. You ikwerres have nothing, I mean absolutely nothing to add to Igbos. So why would anyone care about your slavery to ijaws?

About intermarriage between Igbos and you guys, it's actually the other way round. We look down on you guys and most people frown at such intermarriage with people traditionally known for their lazy and wayward outlook to life.
