Dear members of our great profession.
We have received complaints from our members who tried to register for the renewal of their annual practicing licence of the introduction of indemnity insurance and NMA building levy on the remita page.
We want to categorically inform our members that none of these levies were to the best of our knowledge approved by the NEC and as such can not be imposed on our doctors.
While trying to get clarification from the NOC, we urge our members to temporise payment for now until after Uyo NEC coming up in two weeks time.

My dear Elders, Teachers and Colleagues, at the last NMA NEC meeting in Osogbo, the NOC proposed a building levy payable by all members of the Association.
Although the mode of payment was not clearly spelt out, at the leadership retreat in Lagos (the President was absent) we were informed that the NOC will organize meeting with the different NMA zones where members will be sensitized before the commencement of payment.
I wish to inform you that the NMA President has confirmed the commencement of the payment on another forum today (painful as the decision may be) there is definitely a communication gap between the President and the Secretary General for the wrong information passed during the leadership retreat.
As it stands now, it seems the building levy payment is inevitable. If there is any other information to the contrary we will duly inform you.

As a doctor I can tell you there are alot of God factors in IVF.Even in the best IVF centres, the success rate is less than 70%.Couples have had IVF done up 3-4 times and still failed at the best centres.Thank God for IVF,thank God for his mercies

Good afternoon nairalanders, I want to make a genuine enquiry.
I am in charge of a team of medical students from a meical school that qualified to represent Nigeria at the international contest of medical knowledge(CICOM) 2018 coming up in Mexico by November.
However, getting funds has been a big problem, the school definitely cannot afford to sponsor us, we have contacted many organizations, Telecom companies, Ministries to sponsor just our flight tickets.Most didn't even reply.
I have read several news on nairaland of students representing Nigeria at international contests.
Please can someone help us on how we can get sponsors?

The truth is all professions come with it's unique pressure. If you're the son a teacher,especially if you are the child of the principal,everyone expects you to be the best in your class,if you should not meet up,you will be hearing"and his dad is a teacher o".And if you are too excellent,they will say it's favoritism. If the son if a doctor should come down with diarrhea, everyone will be saying "and he is the son if a doctor o,how can he come down with diarrhea?If your mum/dad is a celebrity and you achieve something extraordinary,they will say " he is riding on his parent's fame. So everyone had their peculiar challenges and parents should help their children cope with the peculiarities

How do people access funds to go to competitions like this?
I know a team of medical students that have been struggling to get funds to participate in an international competition,no one is willing to sponsor.
