Car TalkRe: Help! My Honda 1998 Keeps Revving Up Amd Down When Running Idle by promise72(m): 12:06pm On Oct 06, 2008
ive had similar problems wt my civic. There's a thing called idle regulator by the intake manifold area. Where the PGMI (programmed fuel injection is written) behind it is where its located.

Taking it out and flushing it out may help but you might need to get a new one.

Good luck

I think we should be patient and wait to hear from Inspired.

@Siena, is there a way we can get Seun to clean up this forum and set some standards here? See where this is heading - loss of confidence on nairaland dealers. Seun cannot afford to have this "hands-off" approach when the house he built is on fire! It's only a matter of time before buyers start leaving this forum in droves and you and I know how bad news spread. This policy of "buyer beware and everybody do whatever you like" is not going to help anybody.

I don't think we should hang anybody yet but just having this kind of conversation is very unhealthy to the forum.
@ Ziontrain,

To clarify your position why don't you start all your comments on Inspire with a disclaimer that you have a vested intered in Inspired selling some of your cars for you. It will really make it fair.

How do you discount a fact that someone left from P.H only on empty promises. It will be far fetched to make this type of thing up. I am willing to see how it plays out but don't try to sound Neutral. The innocent bystander pose. I pray you don't find out about this guy the hard way. don't come back here crying like a baby. cry

@ poster,

U need to specify correctly. Accord? Civic? Element? For Accord i know in the US theres no 2.0litre engine. I think its 2.4L

civic i think is 2.2L engines.

Good luck

Ol boy, the picture you posted is for a Toyota not a Lexus.

As I understand it the LX470 is the Lexus equivalent to the Toyota Prado. And the pix does not look to me like that. I don't know sha but perhaps you can throw some more light.
A point of correction. thats actually a Lexus LX 470/Toyota Landcruiser. The prado equivalent is GX 470. same engine for both but different body. The GX looks just like Prado in Nigeria but with a V8 engine. Yikes! However this pic seems to be the car at a car show. Real pics of car needed.

@ idapaul and Fhemmy,

Ok. will stop here. But why does this guy keep posting cars with wrong vin? Odometer rollback. Even after all that happened? does he even learn? Posting 2 cars with vins that belongs to other vehicles but coicidentally they are the same type of cars he was selling huh .Wonders shall never end.

Here i rest.
AutosRe: Toyota Camry: What Distinguishing Features? by promise72(m): 10:25am On Oct 01, 2008
V6 generally consume more petrol than 4cyl. However they are smoother engine and of course faster. It still better on petrol than lets say maxima.
Enjoy. Do regular service tho.

AutosRe: 2003 Toyota Matrix ( Red, Sterling, Slinky ) by promise72(m): 9:36am On Oct 01, 2008
As a rejoinder, for the most part, you do a emission inspection on a car that you plan to renew the registration. You dont go thru emission test and renew reg only to turn around and leave the vehicle sitting expecially a vehicle thats used to acquire 20,000 miles/ year!

Thats about 1666 miles per month. 315 miles will be about 1 week worth of driving! After paying emission and registration. Hmmmmmmm huh
AutosRe: Toyota Camry: What Distinguishing Features? by promise72(m): 9:28am On Oct 01, 2008
One thing on the SE model i forgot to say is that i believe that the suspension is a little bit different. A bit more taut hence a little more aggressive handling. Its the sports edition. If its my $$$. will go for SE. Its looks more bulgly. Kinda cool. However you gotta worry about the uneven roads in nigeria. cos its more extending down with the additional trim pieces. Might scrape the ground. Otherwise i think its the coolest. Get a 4cyl. Increase your fun grin
AutosRe: 2003 Toyota Matrix ( Red, Sterling, Slinky ) by promise72(m): 9:24am On Oct 01, 2008
i am not doing any type of investigation at all. Dont have the time nor resources. Just an observation. Its kinda odd to me. Even if all thats done is move it around. his/her house, auction, port etc. etc. 315 miles kinda seems low. Is it possible?. Sure. Likely? Dont think so. Just my 2 cents
AutosRe: Toyota Camry: What Distinguishing Features? by promise72(m): 8:33am On Oct 01, 2008
This is for the current models. The CE is the "bottom model" i.e cheapest one. Its has no v6 engine. The LE is next, followed by XLE. SE is the"sport edition. The main distinguising feature is a type of "side skirt" Like a type of extra attachment on the bottom area all around.

The Le, XLE, and SE all have a V6 option. you can also get leather as an option. The main distinguishing feature of a 4cyl and a 6cyl is the double exhaust. V6 have double exhaust and 4cyl dont. All the 4cyl and 6cyl in all models are same regardless

hope it helps.

cool cool
I have a question with this car here. If last odometer reading is 102,677 in 2007! How did the car only do 315 miles in over 1year! huh

Being a 2003 and at a reported 102,677 in 2007, that makes it a 5year old car. Avg will be 20,535 per year. So judging by that pattern how did it do only 315 miles from the last reported odometer in 2007 till date? shocked

Owner just stopped driving?

Sorry to break this to you. Canada has always been little step brother to the US. Around here in the US as far as i know. VIN has to be listed by dealer. Someday im sure Canada will grow up and be just like the big brother. Someday it will come.

Whatever a car history is, it is paramount that VIN be provided for the customer to make a decision.

For the past 4-5 days everyone knows what has happened in this Section of the forum (There's no need to go though it all over again). I specifically chose not to wade in. Lots of emotion. Tensions running at a boiling point i can feel it all the way from here.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, the general concesus has be overwhelmingly in proving VIN for listed vehicles on sale here. YOU LOCK THE DOOR OF YOUR HOUSE NOT NECESSARILY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE INTENTION OF BREAKING IN BUT ALSO FOR THOSE WHO WILL TAKE YOUR THINGS EVEN WITHOUT ANY PREFORMED INTENTION. In other words, keep the honest people honest.

I think every participant to this issue here (The Accuser and the Accused) all have (in my opinion) at one time or the other misuse the trust and priviledge bestowed upon them. The rest of us only got to find out when the going got rough.

This is in a way NIGERIA in a small context. The question we will have is that: Will business be as usual? I think the people have spoken. That is DEMOCRACY in a small way.

As much noise that was made in the last few days, SEUN has matched it with a deafning silence. I am truly dumbfounded. I am not sure whether he's doing some fact finding or so but at the moment he should require all new posting henceforth to be listed with VIN regardless of the year.

I am very saddened that this is a typical Nigerian factor/attitude. Even after we all agree on the problem and overwhelmingly on the solution. Theres still a lot of foot dragging going on. At least as i write now.

Kinda unfair. undecided of that comment. Cars already on the streets are junk anyway. Not many ppl can still afford a 10-yr old car. Even here in the good ol U.S.A
Car TalkRe: New Cars Vs Tokunbo Cars In Nigeria by promise72(m): 5:50pm On Sep 26, 2008
Ivvie:
I hope you are aware that cars are built tropicalised and non tropicalised. You aren't saving any money cross-buying. Buying an american specified vehicle to be used in nigeria is simply a money-pit waiting to happen. If you decide to carry out modifications on the engine, it won't stop the interior and roof linings to bubble away and eventually seperate.
@ Ivvie,

I will like to think you are joking. Ive read your posts before and I'm guessing you live the the US. From the cold weather of Conneticut or Alaska to the heat in Texas, Arizona and my home state of California. What else do you want in "tropicalisation"? The cars comes to withstand it all. Snow, heat, rain etc. Radiator is 3-4 rows already. Heater, A/C, Climate control all fully loaded. Ready to go.

The only problem you will have in Naija is if you use adultrated petrol. Petrol tankers will load diesel, kerosene, petrol, engine oil etc with same tanker within few hours/days without washing them etc. Theres bound to be contamination.

European cars, i don't know. They may overheat in naija when they get there. Their radiator is small. US cars no problem.

Thousands (if not millions) drive US specs in naija everyday. No issues. All fully loaded.

If i understand your question well. i will say get a corrola (as per withstanding hard driving condition). Honda however gets better miles per petrol tank. Withstanding hard driving condition? im not sure
