AutosRe: Are Nigerian Car Dealers In The Usa Fraustrated Already ? by promise72(m): 6:16pm On Feb 05, 2009
Cosjo:
no need for insult promise72 except you feel you are part of the fraustrated so call nigerian car dealers in usa, so with your own explanation then no dealer in the usa should send cars to nigeria because of the small profit ok ok, i get you. wait promise you have a delaer license huh shocked
i just told you yes. What im tryn to point out is that from your idea of a dealer, i have to be selling on Nairaland. I got my license for a different reason. If i decide to inclede Nairaland, then fine. If not, fine.

Selling to Nigeria still takes longer. Shipping, clearing etc. So i cant speak for anyone else. And if you dont have ppl that will handle things the way you want why do it?

Or you just want me to prove to yuu that im a dealer, hence i have to sell on Nairaland or sell in nigeria?
AutosRe: Are Nigerian Car Dealers In The Usa Fraustrated Already ? by promise72(m): 6:00pm On Feb 05, 2009
Cosjo:
honeslty it is not a laughing matter now, i see many people boasting they are car dealers in the usa, no office address, no phone number, no car advert, no website nothing, what is going on huh i need this for a research THYE EFFECT OF ECONOMIC CRISIS ON NIGERIAN CAR DEALERS IN THE USA i will begin to name names. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
For the fact that u are a car dealer doesnt say you have to sell to Nigeria. Does it. Is there any law that you have to post on Nairaland to prove that you are a dealer?

If you are a journalist, do you have to be employed by a Newspaper or Media house to prove that you are a juornalist? Cant you be an independent journalist and sell your story or research results?

Quit talking like you are a baby. Grow some brains. It will definately benefit you!

Selling to Nigeria is still a risk. If you dont have ppl you can trust to handle things you send a car you wont see your investment and profit. Story go come up on the car or why they cant pay you.

Doesnt it make sense for me to sell and make small profit here than be hoping for a windfall in Naija. I will do things as i see the most sensible!

AutosRe: 1994-96 Toyota Camry For Sale ( Nigerian Used ) by promise72(m): 5:05pm On Feb 05, 2009

From my price survey in autos.yahoo.com (used car section) 94 Camry cost from 700USD in US. So N600k should still be profitable
Good for your research. Let me tell you. Reality and research are different. I live here. I can guarantee you that a $700 Camry will be on its last breath of life. Will definately be more than 200,000 miles and will require a lot of repairs.

It cant be in sharp condition. I live here and i have a dealers license. I will like to think i know what im talking about.

You said it all "price survey". Lets see actual posting for that price. When petrol went up few months ago, a lot of fuel efficient reliable cars went waaaayyyyy up. Petrol came down little and its been goin back up now gradually. People know that. Nobody is stupid here. "Price survey" doesnt take thaty into conisderation.

Its like saying a drive between Lagos and Ibadan "shouldnt be mor than 1hr or so. But what if theres an accident or theres a revival at Redeem, or Police checkpoint and you were delayed for 2hrs. Dont even start on Car truobles.

REALITY AND HYPOTHESIS ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS. I LIVE THE REALITY EVERY DAY!

Its OK to disagree with me but if by any chance you have a used car listing for that price you mentioned please let me know. Or better, send me the link.

I think one can get direct tokunbo of that 94 Camry in neighbourhood of N600K
For where? when you ship for $1200 and clear for about 140k. Thats about N284k at the old rate. How much you buy?

The new rate will be about N320k. Remember this is just shipping and clearing. No cost of vehicle or profit at this point.

So you need to get real cos its only about N300k left to buy and make profit. And a typical Nigerian wants a Clean Car, Leather, Low Mileage, Factory A/C, CD player etc etc. All for chump change like una steal the car here. Just my 2 cents.

It seems you are not ready to sell this car,BRAND NEW TOYOTA YARIS WAS ADVERTISED FOR N1.99M. Accidented car for 1.95, Bros be more realistic
You need to be realistic yourself. Nigerian Yaris is much different than US. And we are not sure if we are talking of the same trim level. By the way the car is 18k miles.

Good luck.
AutosRe: Hyundai Centennial. Car That Demands Attention And Respect. Only 1.2million! by promise72(m): 3:54am On Jan 29, 2009
You need to clarify something. The car has a TEXAS plate. But theres no CENTENNIAL here in the US. I dont know if you just slap the plate there for fun.
Looks like a XG300 to me.
The red license plate marker and the side fender pointer is telling me that this is "probably" european vehicle
I might be wrong.  undecided
AutosRe: Does Anybody Have A Very Clean Toyota Corolla Of The 90s Model? by promise72(m): 4:03pm On Jan 28, 2009
its getting rather costly to bring those types of vehicles across. They are not really cost effective anymore. Good luck in your search though.

BusinessRe: Frustrations Of A Business Owner In Nigeria by promise72(m): 7:16am On Jan 27, 2009
Lets all face the fact. Its the CULTURE. Most ppl in Nigeria are short sighted. The cant see the big picture. A prosperous business is a thriving employee. But not in Nigeria. With the culture that embraces the adage of "oga ta, oga o ta, Owo alaru ape" What do you expect?

For non-Yoruba speakers, The adage literarily mean, The slave/worker will get paid irrespective of the master's business success. Go figure.
AutosRe: Are those Old Land Rover Series still in Naija? by promise72(m): 1:11pm On Jan 25, 2009
Im pretty sure u can. The question is that waht shape? As far as i know, most ppl who use the in naija now (especially the 60's models) use the for towing. They are usually in pretty bad shape and worst still they probably will have a converted engine to something like a nissan patrol or so engine.

My suggestion is that u might have a better luck with something like a defender 90 or 110. Some clean ones are still running around. Some ppl actually use the for private use. As opposed to the older ones u are looking for.

Good luck.
Car TalkRe: Which Brand Of Car Has The Best Fuel Economy? by promise72(m): 10:39pm On Jan 15, 2009
Kongi:
@promise72, I have used a brand new VW golf for about 10 months now and as of today have an average of 49 miles to the gallon
I believe it. You must be talking of the TDI diesel engines. The CRX "HF" are rated at 50 miles to the gallon (petrol) but you know the efficiency goes down as the car ages and i drive avg of 80miles/hr in that little HF thing. But i love it tho.  grin
Car TalkRe: Which Brand Of Car Has The Best Fuel Economy? by promise72(m): 9:22pm On Jan 15, 2009
Honda Civic CRX/City. got one. Average 40 miles to 1 gallon (Thats about 16.91km to liter)

Been driving one everyday for about 2yrs now here in California. I drive about 150km daily roundtrip. So may be i know.

The CRX model is called the "HF" model. Very hard to find but worth it

AutosRe: Please Advice Me On This Car Palava by promise72(m): 5:37am On Jan 14, 2009
The last 2 ideas are really improbable. Once the initial deal is illegal, it doesnt matter how much tape recording or evidence against the guy. You lost this one. Live and learn.
Car TalkRe: Export/import Used Car Engines To West Africa by promise72(m): 9:37pm On Jan 13, 2009
@ RMI,

Get the whole thing. The whole engine as it comes out of the car. Better if gear is attached though but not compulsory.
AutosRe: Please Advice Me On This Car Palava by promise72(m): 9:34pm On Jan 13, 2009
Left to me. I will say this money is gone. Unless hes a full fledge dealer, how do you expect to pay him in pieces and still get the car. The money is long spent. Like the say around here:

Money gone!

Sorry to break it to you. Or may be Miracle do happen. Good luck.
BusinessRe: NSE Market Downturn: How Have You Been Affected? by promise72(m): 3:16am On Jan 12, 2009
eooduyebo:
Yes, the downturn in the stockmarket has affected me seriously. I had stock worth about N7.8Million as at Dec 2007. I gave this stock as collateral and obtained a loan of N5 million from Diamondbank PLC. From Jan 2008 till date I have paid interest worth over 1million to Diamond bank. And the stock I bought with the 5 million naira is worth just about N 2million while the stock I gave as collateral is now worth about 3.8million. The Diamondbank is on my neck to pay up the money, I am confuse I do not know what to do. Meanwhile Diamondbank charge is really weighing me down and very unreasonable. This month they will charge me N78,0000 the next month they ask me to pay N103,000.00. I am really disturbed
Whats ur interest rate wt diamondbank?

Any particular make/model. What about year etc?. I have to tell you now that the year really makes a difference.

Those trucks brand new can run upwards from $150,000 - $200,000.

I am talking brand new tho. So you must be specific on the choice(s) of vehicle.

Cant promise you anything but you dont know whose reading. Good luck
