My thoughts are as follows: i want to encourge all southerners to recognise that the problem here is Hausa/Fulani and not the north. I have never heard of indigenes of Benue,Kogi,Kwara,Southern kaduna,Plateau or Taraba ever killing southerners. So 'the north' is not the enemy,hausa/fulanis are. We in the south should not derail from obasanjo's master plan which sees the south being in constant alliance with the more progressive middle belt. |
My anger with 'some' Nigerians is that they fail to understand their own worth. Nigeria is the giant of Africa not because she is the best nation on the continent but because of her size and versatility. Military,we are there. Football/Sports,we are there. Resources,we are there. Entertainment,we are there.Business,we are there. Nigeria's influence stretches very, very far beyond her borders, thats also what makes her a giant (country wise). In Kenya for example,Nigerian music, movies, fashion and even our unique pidgin English is becoming a trend, same happens in Ghana,Zambia,Liberia and believe it or not even in South Africa. A recent survey shows that of all the African countries,Nigeria appears to be the only one whose economic and business environment is controlled mainly by Nigerians themselves. But if this wealth is evenly spread amongst all Nigerians, that is another argument. 'Stupid' Nigerians who compare us with South Africa fail to realize that most of the economic structures in SA were already in existence since the 1700s. SA participated in the industrial revolution,i.e when Nigeria was still a bush, were slavery and colonialism reigned,SA already had modern cities. South Africa already had modern banks when all the 'Niger area' had was the Royal Niger Company but today,After SA,Nigeria has the most dynamic banking sector on the continent. The whites, used slave labour to develope SA as their own home in Africa. During the Aparthied era,SAs economy still grew by leaps and bounds while other African countries beg for foreign investors,South Africans did not have to because their 'foreign investors' LIVED THERE. Nigeria is the ONLY black African country that built its own modern capital city (Abuja) from scratch. Ivory coast, proposed a new capital Yammosoukro even before Abuja, same as Benin republic for Porto-novo,yet these cities have never really taken off. Nigerian leaders may have failed us in the past, but we must not fail ourselves,a distinction must be made between 'NIGERIA-the Country' and 'NIGERIAN LEADERS'. We should be proud of the former and perhaps LYNCH the latter. Finally,i really HATE that South African tourism ad, i switch channels whenever the ad is running,i would have expected our NBC to use 'style style' and ban it, lol !!! Just because my village in Mbaitoli is backward, obsolete & dirty,i still cannot come here and say LAGOS is truly my own home. No matter how much them pay me. |
i just saw (on tv) buhari/bakare's rally in port harcourt, less than 600 people in attendance!!! |
GEJ /SAMBO From May 29 2011,Nigeria will definitely begin to see President Goodluck Jonathan's true colours. But by and large,It is going to be business as usual,on going power projects may be completed, electricity may improve significantly. The amnesty programme will be sustained,Oil production will remain high. We could see more private sector involvement in the Nigerian economy, more jobs will be created but it may not affect the masses significantly cos job vacancies will be largely specialized ones, especially in its energy sectors. Calabar xmas carnival for 2011,will be the biggest ever and finally attract world class recognition. GEJ,will decide to go for a single term and aggressively support his loyal vice Sambo for president, after which the ruling party will begin a heated debate on ammending the constitution to have just one single term of 5 yeears for the president.Boko Haram will sill exist but they'll continue to function as paid assassins in that region. Nigeria's growth rate will continue to impress IMF and the world bank, but the common man will still not notice much. BUHARI/BAKARE From May 29 2011,Nigerians will be awaken to a new dawn in the polity. Buhari will commence sweeping changes in the polity and reinvigourate the anti-corruption war,but the national assembly will foot drag on several issues, there by agitating General Buhari. A CPC manifesto implementation committee headed by vice-president Bakare will be established, this is going to be the VP's main function. An implementation time-table will be set-up,however,the time table will not be met,the VP will protest these delays but worst still. The chief of army staff, and top offices in the Nigerian army will be reshuffled, there'll be lots of repostings, at the end,a particular region will regain its dominance of the Nigerian armed forces. The VP will protest further but will be largely ignored, pro democracy groups will rise and begin to question some recent arrests but the centre will still hold. President Buhari now in his seventies will develop some health complications, and a letter of resignation of the VP will be announcedon NTA news, the VP will deny ever resigning but it will not hold water. He may end up being charged for a conspiracy to poison or murder the president. An igbo man will be appointed as the new VP,the south west will go haywire on Buhari and on the longrun when the centre begins to crumble,Buhari alongside some northern elders will sign a pact with the military and allow them to take over the reins of government, and a reconciliation commitee will be set up to look at the desireability of a sovereign national conference. Its recommendation will never see the light of day. RIBADU/ADEOLA On May 29 2011,the dawn of a new era will set in the Nigerian polity. A young and dynamic leader will become president and exciting times will await Nigerians, but, corporate Nigeria will witness a hostile takeover like non-other. Any major business outlet in Nigeria that does not have a direct or indirect affiliation with Godfather BAT will begin to count its days of existence. Such is going to be their predicament that out of anger many will close shop in protest and layoff staff, those who still decide to exist and play along will 'odua'lize' their staff strength. The backlash on the Yoruba race will be horrible similar to that experienced by Ibos before the civil war. President Ribadu will be accused of being weak and unable to protect all Nigerians. Godfather BAT will relocate to Toronto or Chicago, and continue giving instructions from there. A group of 'patriotic' Nigerians mainly from the northern and eastern extraction will call for an end to Ribadu's government, he will refuse but Nigerians will wake up one morning to hear that president Ribadu had fled to, again 'Canada or Toronto',and asking the international community to help him reclaim his mandate which has been hijacked by a group of criminal soldiers. Its back to square one again. Soooo, how do you like my prediction ![]() |
BB2011 is just a flash in the pan,i can now understand why Pastor Bakare attempted to frame GEJ for offering $50,000 bribe to his so-called SNG. Please, has Buhari explained to PASTOR Bakare on why he executed Bernard Ogedengbe, Bartholomew Owoh and Lawal Ojulope for an offence committed by them as alleged by the regime after a national debate in spite of public pleas? The execution of these gentlemen were made possible by a retroactive decree courtesy of Buhari/Idiagbon regime. Where mainly southerners who were caught with 'Vitamin C' at Lagos and PH Airports were labelled as drug barons and summarily executed. Yet HEAVY drugs found their way into Nigeria through Kano Airports with several military (northern) officers as King pins. Buhari will win in a maximun of 5 core northern states, and that's were it ends. GEJ will take the rest. As for Ribadu,PDP is on the verge of releasing videos of when Ribadu as EFCC chairman openly declared Tinubu as corrupt, and they are going to ask him if he was 'mis quoted'. PDP will always form the national govt. cos they have no ethnic affiliation, they manage their crisis very well, and each core member on PDP understands the true meaning of POLITICS, no permament friends,no permanent enemies, just permanent interests. |
SORRY ALL, But this so-called manifesto has Bakare written all over it,i can bet my last kobo that 90% of this document was proposed by Pastor Bakare and they are very lofty ideas indeed. But lets be realistic ok? Buhari is a conservative lad in his 70s,he involved Bakare in his team just to add some bite to his campaign, if he does win, certainly he will NOT pursue these 'wonderful' ideas. Did someone mention PTF's success? Go to the South East,South South and North Central, mention PTF and you'll be cursed cos 'e no reach dem at all' but the core North and parts of the Southwest (Oyo to be precise) did benefit immensely from PTF. Buhari still belongs to those class of Northerners who dont really like the Southern Nigeria, and he does have a history of religious fanatism. Trust Bakare,a very stubborn hardliner, will never allow these ideas go to waste if Buhari foot drags. Definitely this so-called BB ticket will set Aso rock on fire if it wins, and the government WILL crumble. Their combination will make Obasanjo's and Atiku's rivalry look like child's play. GEJ may not be the brightest, and he knows it,that i think is his best quality, he's policies are a continuation of Obasanjos' which is what Nigeria needs. Continuiation of 'good' policies is what makes a nation great, not the involvement of radical 'sharp sharp' approach, due process must be f0llowed. Our electricity problems will surely be tackled soon, truly new power plants are being built, the private sector is gearing up to participate and Nigerians will soon notice changes in that area. Also i see Namadi Sambo as a very level headed and loyal VP,i see him also being President after GEJ. |
Nigerian women are eager to get married before they turn 30. Women in their 20s are still regarded as desirable in our society, they have options and can be justified in their 'shakara' toward suitors. But once they cross the 30 mark, desperation sets in and more often than not,she becomes any man's game. Here's a look at four types of men Nigerian women readily settle for: 1.Tall,Dark and Handsome: Believe it or not. Most Nigerian women dont like light skinned men, especially the 'pretty boys'. Why? Well,Nigerian women share same pattern with their male folks which considers light skinned people to be very attractive. But while Nigerian men rush to marry light skinned girls,Nigerian women get intimidated by them cos they feel that once married, other women will not allow their husbands rest. However, the tall, dark ,handsome male is relatively a safer haven for Nigerian women,i still dont know why though, another irony is that most of these women still prefer having light skinned children. 2. Heavily Built: We are not talking about fat boyz here, but well built ,strong looking Nigerian men. Most Nigerian women like men they can be proud of in public, hugely built men are a must have any day. It gives the Nigerian woman a sense of protection and security. 3. VERY RICH UGLY MEN: Some Nigerian women believe that marrrying a not so goodlooking man who happens to be very rich is the best thing that can happen to them. They erroneously believe that since their hubbys are not so good looking, other women will not disturb them ( Boy,are they sooooo wrong). And even if her hubby is becomes wayward, she still has his money to enjoy. The only sad part is that Nigerian women who have opted for this option prefer attending social functions alone,in their work place computers or BBs,you'll never see their hubbys' picture as screen savers. And if they happen to give birth to children who look like their husbands, well, thats a very sad mother! 4. Men of God. The 'chistian' Nigerian woman will do anything to be the wife of a born again christian or pastor, especially the successful ones. The main reason while this pattern is gaining popularity is due to the ease at which such a relationship is consummated. All they need to do is 'hear from the lord' and every other thing follows. And if these men of God end up becoming 'really' successful, that's heaven on earth for the Nigerian women. Also, many Nigerian women believe that men of God are less likely to cheat. |

This piece is not meant to ignite any tribal or ethnic slurs, but i have indeed noticed that most (NOT ALL) Yoruba men perfer to marry 'ugly' Yoruba women especially the 'short, round, fatish spec'. I also noticed that Yoruba men who marry beautiful women are either married to Igbos,Deltans,Efiks or foreigners essentially to non-Yorubas. I grew up watching NTA Newsline, and whenever a wedding was being showcased,if its an Igbo, hausa or Efik wedding, the brides tend to be very pretty but if its an 'Odua' wedding,,,Nnaaaaa, most times the groom look better that the bride. So,people is there any particular reason for this pattern or have i just focused on the wrong Yoruba couples? PS: I still believe that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and God made us all in his image, but you know Naaaaaaaaaaaa!!! |
DAMM, are there not enough gays in Adamawa? How could Atiku loose in his own state? LWKMD!!!!!! |
GHANA: Nigeria, you are big for nothing and daft. NIGERIA: Ghana, you are too small for me and too dumb. GHANA: If you are that smart Nigeria, tell me what is 1 + 1 ? NIGERIA: Foolish Ghana,is the answer not 11? GHANA: You are lucky,i though you were going to miss it. , these are my exact my thoughts on this thread!!! |
I have observed GEJ since he became Nigeria's bona fide president,i've also monitored his critics. I have come to the conclusion that Nigerians are NOT used to having interactive and intellectual leaders, people who talk less and do more. Most Nigerians are used to leaders who have the capacity to make bold statements, use executive bravados, destroy opposition and keep Nigerian voices at arms length. Such leaders end up achieving little, and once they are out of office, become objects of endless criticisms. GEJ has forced himself to reach out to ordinary Nigerians,he is a very interactive president and is of sound mind. I watched his recent town hall meeting in JOs were he coordinated an interview session with ordinary Nigerians, and he handled it well. Obasanjo never handled an interactive session without insulting someone, though i respect Obj as one of Nigerians finnest, not because he was a saint but Obasanjo balanced Nigeria's power portfolio, gone are the days when a typical Southerner will hear 'North' or 'Hausa/Fulani' and shiver,Obasanjo's policies and postings during his 8 years gave every region some type of voice, a voice that favoured the South economically (Banking consolidation) and socially. I can honestly vouch that for the last 5 months, electricity has improved by almost 50% in my area, and those of us in major cities have not queued for fuel, thus far. I recall IBBs era and though young,i saw Nigeria almost on the verge of crumbling, iced with the June 12 anullment. I cant stomach IBB's return, its ridiculous, but if he does succeed, then it becomes a fact that he may be the kind of leader that a typical shallow minded Nigeria deserves. And surely IBBs main agenda will be returning the country back to the status quo where a history graduate from the north becomes CBN governor and employs all his relations. Yes ,i am a Goodluck Jonathan fan, i will campaign for him and i will vote for him, |
ELECTRICITY HAS IMPROVED IN MY AREA BY ABOUT 55%, i think GEJ is doing something right. |
The statistics makes sense but most doubters on Nairaland dont know how to use common economic sense. CHINA is the worlds fastest growing economy but majority of its population still live below the poverty line, why? Its because of her huge population and cheap labour. For instance there are two Nigerian families; Family A consists of 8 children with a monthly income of N50,000.000. Family B has 3 children with same N50,000.00 monthly income. if Family A suddenly starts earning N55,000.00 and Family B earns N51,000.00. Which family has surpassed the other in terms of earning? Family A,i guess, but will that impact meaningfully to the lives of its 8 children? NO. , thats the Nigerian story as far as IMF is concerned. |
The problem in Southern Nigeria is 'too much' education with every Ade,Chike and Ochuko claiming intellectual superiority in their analysis. GEJs down fall will not be due to Northerners but by his fellow Southern compatriots. From an objective point of view GEJ never goofed in any way as it relates to MEND's involvement. Most people on this fora have ignored the fact that Henry Okah is described as an EX-leader of MEND. The bulk of what used to be known as MEND negotiated with the late Yaradua and accepted the amnesty offer. Henry Okah fell out with his former comrades in arms and proceeded on a self exile in South Africa. So when the bomb blast occured,GEJ was right to acknowledge that the MEND he knows could not have carried out the act because they had accepted the amnesty programme. Unfortunately,IBB apologists on Nairaland,Sahara reporters and 234Next highjacked this statement and worked very hard to use it to sway public opinion online, they've succeeded. IBB failed woefully on facebook but has done quite well in other websites. Henry Okah's allegation on GEJs involvement and the prompt resort by so-called Northern leaders asking GEJ to resign is clearly a planned strategy. As a legal practitioner,i would say that Okah has indirectly confessed to knowing about the crime, but lets see how it goes. However,Okah and most Nairalanders seem to have forgotten that the Nigerian government prompted Okah's arrest days before the bombing and were equally appalled when they got to know that SA authorities released him. How then will the same government want to co-opt the same Henry Okah into such a conspiracy days after the bombing In any case, this is Nigerian politics, lets see how it all plays out. |

You want them to 'erase' or 'eliminate' my sources? My nairaland ID is 'Publisher' and believe me that's who i am. But trust me,u'll hear more details as the weeks go by,not from me this time! |
Make no mistake about it,Nigeria's great 'Evil Genius' IBB has already commenced a media war against GEJ. A section of the Nigerian media/press has been secretly bought over by Babangida. AIT and Sahara reporters seem to have been thoroughly enlisted in this scheme. The IBB group also instructed the media outlets not to openly engage in any self cleansing campaign for IBB but rather they should simply concentrate on GEJ's flaws. Before the Abuja bomb blast, two points of flaws were being magnified by IBBs media co-horts,these are the first ladies' supposed 'unpolished' nature and also the eastern politicians meeting lockout. Now with the Abuja bomb blast, they've added a third sour point. IBB's camp reached a deal with Henry Okah's faction of MEND,Okah is not satisfied with the Niger-Delta amnesty deal,he wants some form of power within that region, unlike other repentant militants who just want a good life and a brighter future. IBB's camp has promised Henry Okah's group a front line role in Niger delta issues if he's elected. Anyone reading MENDs reasons for attempting to disrupt the independence celebrations would notice that these reasons were actually an after thought and quite baseless. Now,anyone who read MENDs threat would see that the main intention was to set up a bomb around and inside the Eagle square premises, thereby causing chaos and a stampede. The government did a relatively good job by safe guarding the Eagle square and its environs, the closest the terrorist could get was about 1 km away. In as much as one does not support the huge resources spent on the 50th anniversary celebrations,President Jonathan Goodluck scored a major point, in the sense that the independence celebrations took place inspite of the Bomb threat. If the celebrations had been hurriedly called off due to MENDs threat (as hoped for by IBB's camp),that would have been the biggest embarrassment to Goodluck Jonathan's administration and his political opponents would have used it to portray GEJ as a weak leader unable to tackle Nigeria's problems due to inexperience. IBB would have then be touted as a stronger and more experienced leader. |
@DatNiggaAk My brother,YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Aba is a reflection of what a sovereign Igbo nation would have looked like. Had Biafra succeeded, the oil producing minorities would have started their own guerrilla warfare in order to control their oil wells. And even amongst the Igbos, there would have been horrible divisions and marginalization. The Anambra /Onitsha axis who dont value education much would have dominated Biafran politics while the Imo / Owerri axis that value western education would have been permanent opposition. My folks lived in Biafra during the the war ,and they vowed that should there be another war in Nigeria, instead of returning to the East, they would rather seek assylum or refugee status in benin republic or Togo. I was told that most of the ibos killed during the war were not killed by Nigerian soldiers but by hunger ,dieases, family feuds and wait for it, biafran soldiers! Most of these victims were ibos who made their forfunes outside the East and were forced to abandon their wealth as the war progressed. They were constantly been mocked by their 'true Biafran' relations (who had, before the war, benefitted from remittances from these erstwhile wealthy kins based in other parts of Nigeria). Life in Biafra would have been short, nasty and brutish. Unfortunately, today in many parts of South Eastern Nigera life is already short, nasty, brutish, and 'Kidnapish' !!! |

@ Onlytruth: You are a confirmed low self-esteemed igbo goat. Do u think the north will hand over power to igbos in 2015? Even if they do,will Nigeria's capital relocate to Enugu? Or will igbos automatically acquire all government positions? Why are igbos like you so dumb? What stops an igbo man from contesting NOW? You said the north are king makers, Nna,that na old school story, The political power of the so-called North had always been vested in manipulating the middle belt. Obasanjo discovered this and upgraded middle beltans both in the army and generally, this impacted alot of confidence in them. This is why many middle beltans are openly campaigning for Jonathan. In anger and furstration, many core northerners continue fermenting trouble in places like Jos cos thats the capital of the middle belt. The presidency should be open to all,if any igbo man is bold enough let him step out now, in the absence of none,we may have to stick with Jonathan. Atleast his middle name is 'Azikiwe',if thats any consolation. |
Yo Momma is so short, she can sit on a match box and swing her legs. |
@ Missy B No offense taken. i tried to be objective and blunt about my observations. Surely all the traits highlighted in my earlier post can also be found amongst women from any part of the world,in varying degrees. Its just a little bit more prevelant within the Edo feminine axis, no harm intended!!! |
@ ALL Thousands of people are murdered in Mexico due to drug related crimes, the Mexican police is known to be extremely corrupt, yet MILLIONS of Americans travel to Mexico annually to enjoy their beaches, cuisine amongst other things. If such was Nigeria's fate, many Nigerians will open their mouths and tell the world how cocaine crimes have destroyed the country. When a Nigerian bad mouths his own country in front of a foreigner,he/she does so foolishly. Cos let's face facts;as far as that white man asking u about your country is concerned,Nigeria is NOT a living organism,Nigeria is NOT IBB,Yaradua or Goodluck,Nigeria is NOT Niger-delta or Jos. In that white man's eyes,at the point in time (as he watches you down grade your own country), YOU ARE NIGERIA!!! |
@ Poster: Most (not all) Edo girls prefer to marry two types of men, a. A very strong, intimidating, successful, dangerous man OR b. An extremely weak, less than average,laid-back man. Edo girls who prefer category A men belong to the school of thought which believes that if a man doesnt beat you that means he doesnt love you. They prefer weaker men most times cos they've not had much luck with 'hard guys'. These brand of Edo girls make very good wives to non-ambitious men, they takecare of their husbands and will even sleep with category A men in order to gain money or some kind of favours to be used for her hubby's well being. Problems only start when their 'mumu' husbands begins to 'soji' and starts to behave like category A men,the relationship crumbles almost immediately. Having said that you could still locate a 'between the line' Edo girl, they are very rare though and i sincerely hope your present girlfriend is one of them. Good luck son, |

ABEG, Dont mind some of these silly yoruba guys, all they know how to do is marry ugly ,short fat women, carry cocaine, relocate to london or dublin. Flaunt their borrowed wealth on Ovation magazine and sing fuji music. Other intellectuals amongst them just waste their lives blowing grammer on BBC or killing themselves for one political trash or 'stool' or whatever. Igbos maybe useless politically but their ingenuity and economic prowness is second to none amongst any black race here on earth. Deal with it ooo, enyin omo egbe oduduwa! |
