Politics / Re: Bauchi To Spend N7.9billion On Airport by PupetMasta(m): 6:07pm On Jan 27, 2013
Is he talking about a new airport cos there is a functional airport/airfield in Bauchi already, very underutilized. Traffic in and out of Bauchi through the airport is only once a workday and many times the flight is cancelled because of very few passengers. Let him use the cash on something else
Family / Re: Husbands With Security Locks On Their Phones by PupetMasta(m): 8:08am On Oct 31, 2012
Am not married but I don't think for some people there is an elaborate reason for that.

In my office the reason why phones are always locked at intervals is because of the security measures the IT office pushes down to anybody that uses his mobile phone (personal or official) to access his/her official email. You are also advised not to share the password of your phone with anybody, if you do and it is found out, you could be disciplined (depending on your position and how critical your work is), at least that is what the IT policy says
Career / Re: Is It Wrong To Help Your Boss With His Or Her Bag? by PupetMasta(m): 5:00pm On Sep 13, 2012
My policy is that your luggage/non official business is not my business. Even if you are President/CEO of the Organization, if we meet by the entrance to the building, I will just greet you and go my way. The top boss of the organization in Nigeria (a white woman) actually complained and told another officer that I don't offer to help carry her luggage, it took a high will power not to tell her my mind. My supervisor who is an Indian also noticed it but never said anything, he only took it out on his relationship with me.

Left to me everybody should mind his/her business. Do your job and go home, but unfortunately in Nigeria much is expected from a subordinate, especially those out of your job description.

I don't even like having happy hours with work colleagues.

To answer your question, don't do it, if you are going to help make sure you are helping someone that will appreciate it and not someone that will see it as a means to look down on you.

Politics / Re: Can Our Leaders Do This In Nigeria (pix Attached) by PupetMasta(m): 2:23pm On Mar 09, 2012
I was just thinking of this yesterday because my boss who is a Caucasian complained that I don't offer to carry her bags anytime we are in transit together. I was almost telling her to employ a maid if she wants a carrier. I don't blame her anyway, she has been in the system too long and she has seen that in Nigeria the bosses do not carry their luggage. Carry the maximum u can carry or get bags with wheels, that is my belief. The funniest thing is that the top dogs in HQ (located in the US), (be it African origin or pure American) carry their bags and will not allow you to carry it even when you offer to help anytime they come around, they have also warned that subordinates are not employed to carry bags for the bosses (Nigerian, American and others).

Nairaland / General / Re: How Was Your 2011? (rate It) by PupetMasta(m): 11:44am On Dec 30, 2011
I will give 2011 a 7/10 because:

1. Lost my Car, laptop and phones to armed robbers. Could have been shot but God stopped them. Meanwhile I almost had an accident with that same car some few weeks before it was stolen
2. Failed a very important exam, so I have to start from scratch. Hopefully, I will have the courage, means and time to start all over in 2012
3. Can't really place a finger on what I used my salaries for as regards my own comfort but I know I used it for the good of my family, hopefully God will bless me better in 2012
4. Wanted a change of job but did not get it, but I still thank God for my present job.
5. Went on an all-paid-expense trip to South Africa for a course that will open new doors for me, although I have not started to benefit from it but 2012 will surely be a year I will start to reap the rewards.
6. Invested in businesses that went dud.
7. As regards my health, I think my health was 8/10 this year.
8. Love life was 2/10, too many distractions.
9. Became a Brother-in-Law and an Uncle

I made a mistake on my choice of Course at Masters Level, this has propelled me to a career path I don't like, trying to get back on course but it is not easy. This choice has really messed up a lot of things for me, still trying to see if any good can come out of it.

He could not remember the name of the website he saw the video so he googled it and we ended up in Nairaland. Religion / Re: Evangelism In Public Buses Is Madness by PupetMasta(m): 4:20pm On Nov 19, 2011
I am of the opinion that religion should be banned from public/government setting, that is, Religion should be banned from public schools except in religious subjects like CRK and IRK which should be optional. Religion should also be banned from government TV stations and radio stations, it should only be gotten on paid TV like adult channels. Laws should be made to stop people from preaching in the bus; a preacher can talk to someone, one-on-one but not in a form of public announcement. Laws should also be made such that Churches and Mosque should have limits in residential and business districts, they should also be forced to have sound proof walls and should be stopped from having loud speakers that will cause noise pollution.

I am a Christian, at least by birth but it is annoying when I hear every prayer point tabled by a church 500m away from my house.
Nairaland / General / Re: What Was Your Childhood Fantasy? by PupetMasta(m): 10:38am On Oct 13, 2011
My fantasies were:

1. To become the first black American President even though I am not a citizen. I remember my Mom telling me that she woke me up one day to ask a question and I told her to ask the Secretary of State.

2. To own Manchester United Football Club

3. To become an inventor with a big research institute that will invent a lot of things that will make Nigerians well recognized all over the world.

Car Talk / Re: Ever Had Your Vehicle Stolen, Or Broken Into? by PupetMasta(m): 10:42am On Jul 19, 2011
This thread just gave me a flash back on my ordeal on February 2011. I just acquired a 2004 EOD Honda, it was just about 2 months old when I was disposed of it in front of my house. Usually my unofficial closing time at work is around 9 pm but on this unlucky friday I closed 7:30 pm, did the whole journey home and was just blaring the horn for the gateman to open the gate. He opened the first gate and then ran off, I looked into my rear view mirror and noticed some guys coming towards me, I thought about driving into the compound but I also thought it was a bad idea since there are other cars inside the compound, it will be sad if they stole all the cars and other valuables, by that time the assholes were already by my door knocking on it, I opened the door, they dragged me out told me to lie down. They got into car tried to start the car but it did not start, they came back for me, dragged me into the car and told me to start the car while also punching me. I started the car, they dragged me out searched me, took my phones. They also took away my laptop which is usually at the back seat when I am driving.

The funniest thing is that I saw the sign that I will likely be robbed cos before my incident, 2 colleagues from a partner organization living in my area were robbed a month before my incident, my neighbor was also robbed in the house a month before my incident. Thinking of it now I think I should propose the gateman be sacked because my neighbor's car that was stolen was suppose to be my car, she was just unfortunate her daughter ran into them. According to report when the robbers came in they asked the gateman to take them to the owner of the car (pointing to my car) but the woman's daughter ran into them so they have to divert. The asshole of a gateman did not tell anybody this till I was finally robbed.
Politics / Re: Ahmadinejad Invites Jonathan To Visit Iran by PupetMasta(m): 1:50pm On Jul 15, 2011
haka_nai:

It doesn't matter.if we are neutral then we could benefit from alot of countries.Presently Iran is far more advanced than us and prefer to build there indigenous technology, even if it means reverse engineering. So if that is true then let them help us with the technology required to start,Since the west won't give us.About if we would piss the west?We won't it will make us more appealing and important to them if they realize we could have a choice.Which they so hate.
Whether Iran is evil or not i don't know.Simply because the west say so doesn't make it true.It will be silly to hurriedly crest them so.since they pose no immediate treats to us.Also they could be used as a means to an end if we know better.Considering even countries in Europe still deal with them and still visit them and host them.Wetin concern us.We sometimes like to play into the interest of western powers who never like us except when it suits them.
In the global arena number and power matters. The saying no permanent enemy or foe is a good way to start. They need relevance and we could also find something worth while in them.Last i checked if you most know the west refuse to give us space technology along with its knowledge. That was why we opted for the likes of china. You should know that the west will never give us anything good.It is also know fact that they give aid, which is not what Africa needs.the last i checked our meeting AU and EU.They tried to rip us off.So what matters to the west is there interest and i bet you if tomorrow Iran sucks there balls.you would see and change of attitude and it would still not change there imperialistic attitude.
Internationally we must learn to open our eyes and get everything from everyone that could make it better for our citizenry.Nigeria first and others next regardless. That includes even the west.
If you don't believe lets say today out of your willingness you say we don't want to export our oil to the west we want to sell it to African nations strictly.out of love for our own. Before you know it,una image go begin spiral internationally and next trouble go start. The government will be targeted next. The same way saddem did there dirty deals in the gulf and later said no.The same way the ayatollahs said no to imported technology and external influence/interference.
We can't fight the west and we can go against her but we sure can make her like us more.A visit to iran will not change our policy and will not change how the west think about. So let him go if he wish.Chechnya rebels are not getting any military hardware form Iran, how?Simple the Russians said we support you and you give us your word that no body from our Islamic militant groups gets support from you nation. So if today Iran poses security treats in terms of arms shipment then we could sit on a table and say you want a friend then you must be on same page with us about our security period. Not crest  them evil and refuse dialogue.Even Israel will not reject meaningful visit or dialogue with them.Because Israel would want a divided middle east and it will serve her even more if she could get more allies amongst the Persians/Arabs.She also has an agenda for that.Talkless of u,being neutral to both interest.
Simply mind our business will do and exploit what is good to us in everyone.

Nice analysis, No need to create a monster out of Iran because Clinton and Obama said so. Being neutral in all these world tussle makes us more important. What is good for Nigeria should be our target and not what is good for the US and her allies
Fashion / Re: Should People Spend Much Money And Time On Fashion? by PupetMasta(m): 5:30pm On Jul 07, 2011
I believe everybody has a vice, be it fashion, food or gadget. I personally don't like fashion, I just can't be bothered with it. To put together a wardrobe of office wears is hard work for me, but I will change my gadgets in a blink of an eye. I have this urge to change my gadgets (phones, laptop, tv etc) every year. Fashion also has the same feeling on some people, and they will spend a lot of money and time to acquire it. Things like this make the world more fun and balance.

My boss (an Indian) have this habit of saying "don't be stupid" when both of you are arguing over the best way to get a job done, but from observing him, it does not look like he means it, he is just use to using those words, so I don't take it personal anymore
