I see many senior programmers telling we junior programmers to not use chatgpt, that it doesn't make someone know programming very well and it always makes someone lazy... I will love your input on this

No hard rule, you can also learn from it's code, but i use ChatGPT for my work. it's not a 100% silver bullet, i still disable it because it writes wrong code,it's good for boilerplate code

Bootcamp is good for community and networking, but self learning is still what you do, regardless of doing bootcamp.

What I'm telling you is... No matter how you twist it I know part of or most of the reasons that keeps you going even when you haven't gotten a Job or anything is that fact that one day you wish to gain SUCCESS/MONEY in what you're doing or Love doing.

That's my point... The fact that you wish to earn more or gain a lot of money with what you love doing is motivation on its own.



I don't know where you currently work, but if a Job opportunity comes with Twice as much pay as what you're getting now I bet you'd jump on it irrespective of whatever fun project you're currently working on in your current work place.

Mehn at a certain point it's about the cash, I used to go the purist route, till bills had to be paid. Enterprise pays the bills not open source, unless it's consultation fee for the open source. It's tough out there.

The only alternative is starting a business tied to a platform and offer consultancy or freelance, as for full-time jobs, location is a problem, I lost out on 2 massive jobs because of location.

That's what I noticed boss. I'm finding it hard to accept this reality. Most companies are adopting Hybrid roles.

But, one needs a job to be able to save for Japa. Isn't it?

Thanks for replying. Please what kind of niche skills would you advice someone to go for..I am through with my Bsc, and I have lots of free time.. I even had to pay a frontend guy to mentor me. At least to accelerate my learning pace and someone I can ask questions when I'm Stuck.. He keeps assuring me their are a lots of job in Tech esp for a female Somehow, few days ago while going through programming groups on Facebook, Saw my mentor complaining about how it has been hard to get jobs from Nigeria

If you can learn tools like Monday.com, Virtual assistance, because coding is clogged, but I will advise following tiktok and searching for 2023 freelance skills, it will give some ideas about how to move.

Hi. Please what advice would you give someone just starting out? I Just started with CSS. But there seems to be complain of getting lay off or not getting job after applying for 100s of jobs. Keep seeing stuff like this on Twitter, Reddit even Youtube. And I was even thinking the front end route, apparently that one is even more Saturated.

Jobs are hard, even much harder when applying from Nigeria. I'd advise to pick a niche skills that's not programming related, it's tough out here, it's when you're outside the country that you might find hope.

Imagine this scenario.......

You are married to a beautiful woman, and you have like three kids. It is a beautiful family, really.

You have a nice house, a good ride, beautiful children, always selfie-ready wife, and salary alerts keep coming. Then life happens, and you start losing things until nothing is left. No salary, no more savings, and you're officially wiped out by poverty.

Naturally, you expect her to provide support while you work harder to regain your footing. But what you are getting from her is something you never knew she was capable of: insults upon insults, disrespect, and all. This lasts for a year or two.

Then, fortune smiles on you again and you get back on your feet. As usual, there is money now, and your wife is the woman you married at first. She is loving again, respectful, and caring.

I want to know, will you still go back to loving her like before, as if the past two years' experience never happened, or are you going to quit?

It's everywhere but it's harder in Nigeria, outside the country like US is easier, especially for contract jobs, US policies forbid companies now outsourcing to EMEA, unless some South american country and others. Upwork is still a good avenue to earn. I can earn more than my salary on Upwork if not for the country's reputation.

Ai helped me alot. I only turn it off when it comes to Algorithm, but it helps with code and content generation, I've accepted defeat, the content the AI generates is so good, that I now test my thoughts against the AI and work off that and improve.

AI hasn't stolen any job, it has just eliminated the redundant ones, AI still can't generate efficient code, Copilot is not even 100% accurate , it sometimes generate code that fail, it makes alot of heavy assumption, but it's good for devs who don't want to write boilerplate code.

So a friend running a small business asked me to develop a website for him. Looking for a light-weight php framework, I decided to do it in codeigniter. But going through the documentation, I noticed it doesn’t come with a DI container out of the box but rather provides a service class for creating your objects . Although the service class resolves and provides all the dependencies the class will need, I still don’t like fact that you will manually call the service class from inside the controller. Do DI containers affect application performance? If not, why is codeigniter doing it differently.

DI is more of a design pattern.
