quentin06: yeah huge deposits of limestone, why are cement companies located in the middle belt, south and west?
Goto deal with the banditry problem in the north, insecurity devalues an area, doesn't matter what natural resource they claim to have.
the limestones and minerals in the north as of now are blood resources. Did you not hear that the cement company in Sokoto has been producing cement from our limestone for over half a century? Is Sokoto State in the East? Your ignorance is clearly irredeemable. Of course insecurity makes a place less investor friendly, afterall all the major oil companies have relocated from the Niger Delta due to militancy and cultism as a result of illiteracy in the region and moved to safer Lagos, and investors like Dangote are building mega refineries in Lagos instead of the Niger Delta where the bulk of oil is deposited. Why else do you think the SE is lacking in FDI if not for her constant bloodletting through cultism, kidnappings especially of foreign workers, cannibalism, armed robbery, bloody drug wars (Ozubulu etc.) and IPOB violent agitations? Unfriendly investment climate is the answer. So why do you think an intelligent Igbo man from Anambra state, Emeka Okwuosa, is now investing and risking Billions of $ into a PRIVATE pipeline project from Ajaokuta to Kaduna to Kano in the "insecure bloody North" if you're not just myopic, ignorant, unexposed, quasi-educated and hollow in thought?I'm sure you know for sure, that you're not a quarter as smart as the successful Anambra investor sinking billions in the North so you have no point. The joke is on you . Our land is blessed. Abdulsamad is a Forbes multi billionaire and he tripled his billions of $ from his SOKOTO operation alone in the core North, within one year. Choke on that.

Did I tell you that north had no resources?
I told you that all northerners depend on south to get wealthy & so far you haven't shown anything to negate my informed observation..
You appear like one of those half educated northern ethnic jingoists positioning to be among the next generation of parasitic northerners.
Don't quote me again Mr Aboki!! My goodness, you're a living, walking indictment of the failed Nigerian educational system Did you not hear me tell you we have been producing cement in Sokoto for the last 50 years? Who do you think have been minting the millions before Abdulsamad bought the Cement Factory? Aliens? I'm asserting to you that we have several Cement multi-millionaires & billionaires in the North that made their fortune from the limestone under our blessed northern soil, across the spectrum of the value chain. Not to mention the hundreds of agro-millionaires in the North. As for my education, without tooting my horn and sounding immodest, I've been privileged to have the best money can buy. Literally. Continue to stew in your stark ignorance and severe delusion. It's your right.

kikero: Reading through the comments on the thread, the thing I see here is bitterness, bitterness, and bitterness.
Honestly, I really don't want to say anything, because if one calls people out on their bitterness, one would be accused of things that he or she is not supporting.
All I'll say is this. All those condemning the project, don't cut your nose to spite your face. This is a good project by an otherwise incomeptent government, and as such, let's hail them for it. I did not like GEJ much, but when he was doing things like almajiri school, railways, and even privatising power, I made sure I hailed him.
Likewise for Buhari.
The problem this thread shows is one of the side effects of democracy, and no it is not isolated to Nigeria. Check out UK and US political threads, and if you see the bitterness towards Johnson and Trump, you will wonder if the commentors are aware they are in a democracy.
For the last time. Buhari won twice. I don't like it, infact, since democracy came to Nigeria, none of the governments have been to my taste. Infact, I have refused to vote for PDP or APC out of priniciple, and inasmuch as in 2015 I wanted PDP out, was dissapointed somewhat that APC chose a former ruler as its candidate...as if there weren't any intelligent others, even from the North. But if I allowed my anger to dominate me, I honestly won't sleep, and I would get very sick.
And to be honest as a Southerner, I am tired of Southerners blaming the North for our underdevelopment. Nothing is stopping us from putting fire on the legs of our leaders at all stages to get us developed. Nothing is stopping us from making sure our region is investor friendly (and yes, we shout at North for Boko...whereas in the SOuth, a guy who came home from abroad with money to invest was kidnapped and nearly killed by his own kinsmen, not by fulani herdsmen, his own people)...but we won't do that. Instead, we vote for leaders who give us ourdaily bread, and then go home and forget about development. Then we cry that Dangote is not building refinery in our area.
I've seen many people yarn about 'we don't have power'. When in the SOuth (and North for that matter) most of us don't pay our power bills. Which investor is going to come and invest in a region where he or she is not sure of getting money.
Besides, this pipeline project , was actually an initative of GEJ. And as someone has said upthread, if the thing works, we get direct access to European Markets, we earn billions more for the exchequer, the gas producing areas get more money as per derivaiton, and we get more jobs, and hopefully more power to power our economy. Maybe every part of Nigeria becomes productive, and then we can safely talk about dismembering the country, since no one would be 'reliant on oil'
The sad thing about Nigerians is that we are so bitter. Yes, we have a right to be bitter, but there is a time when bitterness becomes counterproductive. Kudos. |

The trait of most igbos when they're younger & inexperienced, is to first resist and fight the northerner due to a clash between our perceived dominant nature and their misplaced superiority complex, until they get older and wiser to realise real superiority is quiet, humble, yet vicious.
That's why the naive younger ones act like paper tigers in online political discourse, but their more experienced older ones act like like kittens when dealing with Northerners politically in real life.
Unfortunately Ojukwu as a young, egoistic and impulsive igbo man, had to waste 3 million of his people before he learnt the hard way, and fell in line. |

Why north, what happened to the other geo political zones in the country, I can confirm that 90% of Investment in Nigeria since buhari took over are residing in the north..this is bad for Nigeria Outlook There is no hidden agenda. The FG had been clear on its policy on economic diversification especially through agriculture, but you people were too busy insulting the President to reason accordingly. Furthermore, this is a PRIVATE initiative so don't blame anyone for your inability to innovate and take advantage of opportunities when they emerge. Moustache1: Who the Bleep would be willing to put his money in a region which is politically destabilized, Insecurity is at the forefront...
Building a refinery in a region that has no business with oil extraction while oil producing state are languishing in xxxxxx
We are in trouble The North is not politically destabilised as we remain the most united bloc in the country (NW, NE & NC), that title is for the internally displaced people of Biafra. In addition, we are not sitting on our arms waiting for "oyel money" because of the insecurity challenges we are faced with. We are striving to be self sufficient while dealing with our societal challenges and by God's grace we are surging forward. The North is marching on strong and rising educationally (enrolment is at an all time high and the almajiri system is gradually being phased out), economically, and infrastructurally, so you should face front and demand accountability from your failed leaders while you use your brains to develop ways to exploit any opportunities that emerge, instead of looking for the North to blame for your woes. Let the other tribes in SS agitate for their own country and we will support them too. Nigeria has degenerated to become even worse than countries facing open wars. Asari can't be a distraction to us. We are moving on and set on getting a country we can be proud of. In your Nigeria, only fulanis are rightfully proud to identify with it because they can commit any crime and go Scot free. No one can prosecute them. Biafrans don't want such a country.
