90% of nigerian girls will happily conscent to marrying one sls the emir of kano even as 4th wife! He is highly educated, a royal, international connection, tremendous wealth! No lady will want to get married to a permanently struggling husband. Getting married to a sanusi means your future and the future of ur kids is stamped and sealed. Kano emirate is not just an ordinary emirate! So all you e- critics of sanusi better get a job and blance your lives and leave sanusi alone. He lives in a different world! |
RIP to the dead. |
SmartMugu:I am also worried about the trend of the appointments so far made. Buhari should not take his southern supporters for granted. SGF and chief of staff going to the north is understandable after all yaradua and Jonathan did the same thing but custom or immigration boss one at least should have gone to the south east. For me it's too early to condemn buhari l'll wait for his ministers. |
Adebowale89:God bless you my brother. but the reality is that nigerians are naturally tribalistic therefore PMB has to be careful so that he doesn't lose his support base in the south, especially the south west. We didn't vote for buhari to b appointing northerners all over the place . I am from the north and am totally against this one sided appointments. Buhari owes northerners nothing but good governance and I think that should also be the case with other regions of the country. For national unity buhari should identify people of impeccable character from the south and appoint them to head key ministries. For now this is the way to go at least till we start to see ourselves as nigerians first before being a yoruba or haussa or igbo. But honestly all this noise about appointments is not worth it because even if everybody in this government is your tribesman you may not necessarily benefit with anything unless you know one of them personally and he's willing to help you. I know Namadi Sambo's nephews that are still jobless despite their uncle being the VP for five years. |
doctokwus:Exactly my thoughts. How can buhari own such a house without PDP exposing him and using it against him during the electioneering. Funny enough a PDP chieftain was even a tenant there. I thought fct ministry has d records of all the properties in abuja and their owners. |
ShowYourCertificate:Garba Shehu may soon lose his job because I'm sure Baba never authorised this statement. |
PhockPhockMan:The forms were submitted on the 28 of may. |
danny301:Be rest assured buhari will do that |
datbay:Check ur records again elrufai was the best minister of fct |
idupaul: What a lie .. Infact a big lieMy brother Elrufai was a millionaire at the age of 25! go check. |
GEJ has committed so many impeachable offences and i see him going down bofore the end of 2014. imagine 49 billion dollars missing and nnpc is telling us sanusi doesnt know how to add up oil revenues bunch of thieves! |
software man: If the crisis is ethnic in nature, then what is shema from katsina state doing on Jonathan's side. Why is namadi sambo and tukur etc on Jonathan's side.God bless u! not only shema, why is Isa yuguda one of the jonathan's die hard supporters? Why is Ramalan Yero of kaduna on jonathan's side? the governor of Kogi too. even the governor of kebbi is yet to switch allegience! we're tired of this their ethno-religious politics. This is purely PDP affair and has nothing to do with the rest of us believe me, come what may we're voting PDP out of office 2015! |
omenka: I think the US is on point on this call. The consequences of the US standing down after what Asad did to his own people would be more dire. It would give other rogue and beligerent regimes around the world the impetus to deploy such weapons against percieved enemies. And how are u so sure that it's Assad that released the chemical weapons? why should he in the first place after caging the rebels and pushing them to the wall? Even if he had to use chemical weopons wouldnt he have used them on the rebels rather than women and children as shown in the video clip? Curiously all the rebel fighters were evacuated from that area a day before the attack! Assad knew fully well that even Russia could not save him if he dare cross that red line of using chemical weapon. Notice the timing of the chemical attack, a couple of days after the syrian government had agreed to receive UN investigators. American version of the story makes no sense at all! Even before UN investigators concluded their assignment, Americans were already jumping all over the place that Syrian regime is responsible and that they have proof to that. Russia has challenged them to present the proof to the UN and they're sayin no they'll show it to their congress bunch of shameless liars! |
How low can Nigerian politicians go in their persuit of money and power? See how they are embarrassing this man and subjecting him to public redicule because of their selfish interest. Pratically Danbaba has less than two years in office, but these people cant imagine the possibility of power changing hands for God know how many years. I am sure plans were being perfected on who will succeed Suntai before the unfortunate accident and its the likely beneficiaries that are jittery and hell bent on creating chaos in Taraba in order to stop any constitutional action against their God father. Their nightmare is that if the deputy governor is finally sworn in he will complete suntai's term and may go on to seek reelection twice and that means they'll have to wait for at least ten years!!! I heard that its one senator with gubernatorial ambition that is behind all this palava! m not sure though. |
From onset, I suspected the rebels to have used the chemical weapons and here we are with early indications suggesting same. There are unconfirmed reports now that Turkey actually provided these Stone Age terrorists with chemical weapons to use and blame it on the government in order to hasten western intervention. But trust the west, this investigation too will be dismissed if it does anything short of indicting Assad’s regime. America’s already preempted the result of the investigation by blaming the regime. The game plan is even if the investigation turns out in favour of the Syrian government, the west will still blame Syria for its inability to protect its deposits of chemical weapons, hence the necessity of foreign intervention! We are all witnesses to how other investigations ended up there. The war in Syria is no longer a revolution even if it started as such. Majority of the fighters are not Syrians. These are islamist jihadist groups recruited from all over the world by Turkey and some Gulf States; Saudi Arabia is fighting Assad’s regime mostly for ideological and political reasons. The Saudi royal family arrogates to themselves the custodianship of the Sunni Salafist form of Islam. They don’t hide their passionate hatred for anything Shiite. Iran on the other hand represents the Shiite ideology in the region and its growing influence worries the Saudi royal family. Already Iraq is lost to the Shiites, which by the way has the second largest oil reserve in the region. Bahrain is the next. Syria has sunni majourity but governed by minority alawite, a branch of Shiite sect, although the leaders themselves are secular or non practicing muslims. Qatar and Turkey have strong economic interests in getting rid of Assad. Qatar wants to be supplying Europe with gas but the pipes must pass through Syria to reach turkey, substituting Russia as the major supplier of Gas to the old continent. A step that will adversely affect Russian economy and tilt the balance in favor of Europe. And Syria has consistently refused to allow the project go through due to its strategic and historic alliance with Russia. America on the other hand would like to see Assad out of the way at any cost. To the extent that America is now allying with terrorist groups to fight a common enemy. The US feels it is a payback time now for the role Assad played after the invasion of Iraq by allowing militants to cross freely into Iraq and fight American soldiers there. They would also want to weaken the influence of Iran in the region by decimating its strongest ally. Hizboullah is also a factor. Syrian government is a major supplier of arms and logistic support to the Lebanese militia who have proven to be more than a thorn in Israeli flesh. We can now see clearly how it’s a proxy war waged on behalf of some international powers period. |
.NET

I voted GEJ in 2011 - a decision which I now regret; especially with the spate of Insecurity in Nigeria and Government's obvious inability to curb the menace. However, I 'll NOT vote Buhari in 2015. His silence over the recent violence, that's threatening to engulf the whole country is a big worry to me. If he needs my vote, then let him talk to his northern brothers to stop the violence. Also, because (in 1983) he championed the cause of the OIC, I'm not comfortable with him. I'm thinking one day, they might just force everyone of us to either become muslims or be damned. The way out: We need another person who can lead the country back into Economic Prosperity. We need someone who has a good record of accountability with Public funds, de-tribalized. Wherever this person comes from, no wahala! But I'd have neither GEJ nor Buhari. .NET
Please in what capacity do you want Buhari to talk to boko haram to stop their attacks, my friend dont make me laugh. Buhari is not the CIC, jonathan is and he should better live up to his responsibilty. You were all shouting into our ears that jonathan was a God sent and that a niger deltan must rule inrespective of his glaring lack of any leadership quality and now you want someone else to do the job for him. Presidency is not for the clueless and lilly livered like jona.If he cant stand the heat let him get out of the kitchen. And for the record, Buhari did not take nigeria to OIC, Babangida did. |
Is it a do or die? Must he be the one? He has ample time to groom somebody now. He'd better do that or get the mother of all rejection come 2015. Believe me folks, and I will say this at the risk of sounding tribalistic - a fulani man cannot fix Nigeria because they are always beclouded by ethnic and religious sentiments. All of them without exception.
My brother you are very very tribalistic in this one! |
I think we are giving these terrorists more than their fair share of publicity, can't we just ignore them for a while why must every rubbish they utter become a news. As for killing jonathan i think that's way beyond them looking at the tight security aound the president. If they coudnt reach their no 1 enemy ali madu sharif while he was the governor, living right in the center of their strong hold i dont see how they could get to jona now in aso rock. bunch of useless fanatics!!! |
manchy7531: can't you read the religious divide?I dont see any religious devide, Nasarawa and Niger both have muslim majority. Taraba is predominantly christian so your religion card has failed try again. |
I understand that the post is just a joke to spice up one's day. But for those who take it serious, they should calm down because its just a doctored tape meant to redicule syrian government's consipiracy theory. there's no correlation whatsoever between what the broadcaster is saying and what is being shown on the screen. The first pictures shown are about weather forcast in some arabian cities followed by syrian map showing level of temperature in some of its major cities. |
Ayoobscom:We use Gregorian (Christian) calender as against the Hijra(Islamic) calender, yet they're not satisfied always being the alarmist they are that northerners want to islamise the country. Muslims have no special arrangement during the month of ramadan when they fast from down to dusk and need to reach home early for 'Iftar'. Abacha (a muslim) even promoted the French (christian) language to be the second language in Nigeria to the detriment of the Arabic(Muslim) language which, apart from being an important African language, is also a medium of worshipping for the millions of Muslims in the country. A christian Obasanjo established Hajj commission and generously subsidised pilgrimage to mecca, While Buhari a' fanatic muslim' removed the subsidy arguing that performing hajj is a personal business and government would not use public funds to finance personal religious affairs. |
abt:Only in the smaller denominations, from 50# down and they are still the way they are. Sanusi has not reversed that as some bigots would want us to believe. Check your facts. I dont care for a second what language is used to denominate our currency so long as its a nigerian language. We shoud be able to move on from this "my tribe' nonesense and start to appreciate and cherish our cultural and linguistic diversity. |
gregg2:Please can you give us the address of that house? |
nagoma:Right on point! Sometimes I wonder what Nigerians actually want. Here is somebody with a legendary fame of honesty and integrity but people are busy casting aspersions on him and guess what his sin is; not utilizing his influence to enrich himself after having held so many high profile positions including that of the head of state. It’s a shame that we can’t celebrate our honest public officials! Are we not tacitly supporting the corruption? Are public figures supposed to be living such a very wealthy lifestyle even ten years after retirement? Buhari is the cleanest public figure I’ve ever seen in my life and It still baffles me how he was able to resist the temptation to join the horde all these years! |
I think the percentage is slightly exaggerated, but frankly speaking Nigerians are extremely poor, especially when considering the very low purchasing value of our national currency. Take a country like Saudi Arabia, with better infrastructure and GDP per capita five times higher than ours yet cost of living there is by far cheaper than Nigeria. With ten riyals, about 400 naira, you can have a good meal in a standard restaurant in Jeddah. You can have a good air-conditioned hotel room in the heart of Riyadh with just 70 riyals, about 3000 naira. So even the so called middle class are just throwing around thousands of naira without getting any commensurate value for their money and therefore their lifestyle is not any better. Some northern Nigerian cities look as if they’ve just been dug out of the ground. You enter a house and the most valuable furniture is an old tattered mat which cannot sell for fifty naira! Actually the rate of poverty I’ve seen there is the worst I’ve seen any where even in Africa. |
Yeah they do. Our problem is we like to bundle facts in Nigeria. Rather than fighting the problem, you are fighting the messenger. This is a thread where comptroller of prisons say Nigeria prisoners feed on 200 Naira a day nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-794618.0.html Now compare it with what is obtainable elsewhere. Do you know the amount spent on prisoners in UK or US. And then the so called almajiri's and other wretched Nigerians in rural and urban centers-those who sleep under the bridge. Do you know how many people and families feed from hand to mouth in Nigeria? Its just illiteracy that is killing the country, thats why people are suffering and smiling.
Spot on, I believe that figure is not far from the truth. Believe u me when u visit some remote towns and villages especially in northern part of the country you’ll be shocked by the level of poverty there. People look as if they have just been exhumed from beneath the ground, they live in mud houses roofed with thatch with mats as the only furniture inside. Even in our big cities I see people living in abject poverty. Squalor and slums everywhere, the so called middle class are helplessly suffering too. We also shshouldn't forget that the cost of living in Nigeria is so high that 2$ means absolutely nothing. While one can have a reasonably comfortable life with 200$ per month in countries like Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, in Nigeria you are a non starter. And those are countries whose citizens are by far richer than Nigerians. In essence what I’m saying is that 30000 naira in Nigeria actually has the value of only ten thousand in countries where there is a functional system. |
Tom Ford:Unfortunately my brother, rent is illogically that expensive in Abuja especially in wuse 2, i think its the most expensive area of abuja. our office in Maitama was rented at the rate of 38 million, agency fee included for just two years! |
I never for once expected anything different. justice is for the highest bidder in Nigeria! This is exactly why they fired Salami or else how is PDP winning all the electoral tribunal cases? I wish Jonathan the best of luck in the herculean task of turning Nigeria around. |
Muhammadu Buhari, Donald Duke, Fashola. |
God bless Nigeria and may all it's peoples love each other and live in peace like one indivisible entity with common destiny! amen |
