ZIMDRILL:
do you really know what is a CHASSIS ? or you just take any rubbish you are told by aka kazeems?

back to what he said, someone already mentioned it,its sounds like the trasnmission is failing to download smoothly

with automatics, if you are on a crusing speed lets say 45mph and above your would be likely in 3rd gear and above and when you press on the brakes to slow down the car downshift to a lower gear this should happen smoothly without jerking

hence we suspect that something is not right with your gearbox 1st get the transmission scanned and see if anything comes up

when was the last time you did oil change on the gearbox ?
I posted it verbatim because I know they call things by different names here or did you miss the quotation marks? I said I think it's the transmission but hope I'm wrong for his sake. Let him check. Best case scenario, we are wrong and it's a cheap fix. Worst case scenario for him we are right.

One thing is just certain : you don't like Ford cars. Maybe you just let go and stopped typing now sha, it's someone's workshop.

It's more like someone comes to your thread and starts giving a ton of reasons and scenarios why it's not ideal to use your workshop and tries to justify it more and more.

The Ford Edge you're busy slacking, they full naija roads taking their owners from point A to B, if it were that bad like you paint it, it would've stopped selling here by now. Note it's been years it entered our market and it's still selling, cars like Freelander, Nissan Quest etc have fizzled out, Ford Edge is still here
I hear you. I'm not against his workshop o. He's the one that started doing personal attacks. Ford edge full America too and there is a reason that I already gave. There are pros to the car and also cons but somehow na only the cons dem dey fixate on. Na simple comment about one particular iteration of one car bring us reach here. You noticed I first said I won't even engage when he called me a liar and was talking to sultaan when he continued calling someone incompetent.

I hate BMW but cannot argue that they are not excellent driver's cars. Just like people hate Volvo but I've stood up for Volvo in the past because you cannot deny their reliability and safety. So my dear valarinz, when it comes to cars, it's never personal for me. I'm always objective. The problem comes when people use emotion to argue facts.

I hope everyone understands that I do not doubt the opinions of aunty Radu, I just feel if she had owned a Ford vehicle, her first hand opinion will not be as negative as it is now.
I owned 3 grand cherokee(5 years for two each), a 300(5 years now) and a ford fusion(11 years)
They are not 100% but I can live with their minor problems.
If you buy car because you like it, it will be taken care of.
I agree with you 100% if you want to get a lot of features for cheap, ford is your brand. That being said, I have driven many and have friends that owned. They constantly were in the shop for one thing or another. I have owned only ford excursion, expedition and many E350s that we even exported to Nigeria because I know them from experience to be durable even if gas mileage SUCKS. The expedition for me is borderline but the excursion and the E350s are the best Fords. The Ford edge specifically you cannot give me for free as I have seen way to many issues compared to mileage on them disproportionate to other cars.

When I worked in sales for Toyota and Chrysler, there were certain cars reserved for people with bad credit who couldn't get approved for anything else. Ford edge, ford fusion, mitsubishi diamante, Mazda tribute, pontiac anything, etc. Those were the last resort for people who couldn't get approved on other vehicles because they looked pretty and you could convince people to settle for them and they were dirt cheap because of lousy resale value.

That being said, I sense you maintain your cars well. Most cars you will be mostly okay if you do routine maintainance. Ford edge though na so so recall and TSB everyday. It was ridiculous!

Funny that you mentioned the Grand Cherokee as I have a soft spot for it too but would never buy one after working at Chrysler and seeing them parading in and out all day long. I would rent one to go off-road thoughgrin

Yea, sucks.. but I've had the improvised thermostat removed & ac operation is back to normal. It stopped cooling after 3months though, there's no sign of leakages under the bonnet so our conclusion is to have the evaporator checked.. dashboard will have to be removed and i haven't really have the time to have it checked.
Whenever you are ready you can always bring it to the shop to find for you. You might be lucky and it takes only a can of stop-leak to fix. If it isn't you can always fix it wherever you choose.

A single jerk ma. I don’t feel it in the pedal only the car just jerks. Once then comes to a halt.
One of my techs has a different opinion that will be cheaper if he is right. He says "This fault is from the chassis, a part is shifting when the brake is stepped on. from the front chassis. i.e any of the arm". I disagree but worth having someone take a look because transmission is more expensive. I hope he is right.

In Nigeria, apart from ours the only other decent one is Johnsen. It's common and easy to find. Just make sure to buy from a reputable person.

Thank u ma but would this lead to increase in fuel consumption?
not compared to the current state of your car. Much better for your car than what is happening now.

Hello ma! My Toyota avalon 03. It was having loss of power when I was driving then all of a sudden the car started to jerk, then sound of exhaust changed when I fire.
I took it to a panel beater he said the problem is not from the muffler. He loosened my catalytic converter exhaust manifold and the one right under it to check if something blocked the cats luckily the cats were free and the catalysts intact. He coupled the exhaust back and tolde to start the engine and I did. The exhaust was still blowing. He went under and checked and came out to say the exhaust were turning red. That they are blocked that he has to take it to a welder to cut open and remove things inside. I became afraid that this might lead to my car to start consuming fuel so i told him to fix everything back and drove away with my car. When I start my car the heat that comes out of the manifold is too much.
Please Ma what should I do? I'm not so buoyant to buy a new cat at the moment.
Only thing is to hollow it out and put it back undecided he was right.

I understand your point, but remember I have asked if from your first hand experience if the issues you have seen were as a result of a Nigerian fixing the vehicle first or a maintenance item, or bad factory part.
The only bad factory part I know for the edge was internal water pump and improperly machines axle shaft that leaks trans fluid, the part has been updated.
I don't think you have personally owned a ford recently, but they offer great value with higher level of technology
Also, we've had a similar conversation. This is not a Nigerian issue. Even in the USA, mechanic shops' bread and butter is the Ford edge.

Hey, you I can talk to. You're right. I haven't personally owned a Ford recently because of the number that used to come both into the Houston shop and the Nigeria one. No doubt they load them with features on the cheap but fit and finish and quality is just not there. Even over time, the gaps, paint compared to other brands are not there for me. The first generation ford edge had a myriad of recalls. Even if he buys an edge, that is NOT the one to get.

Our competition begins here, appropriate for the whole viewers to judge, this so nice, its been years that I had such challenge. what do you say about ford tech, bring up any lapses, let me antagonize it and prove you wrong. the stage is open now.
Nah, the true test is we are going to do this in person. We are going to line up some Fords with issues and go head to head. And "antagonize"?? Relax bro lol.

And the fact that Ford keeps falling in American car rankings and sales should tell you something. They make some NICE looking cars but when it comes to reliability they get crushed. Again, I said for the MODEL he asked for, a resounding NO. it's a money pit.

And if you say"Ford vehicles are my only and sole area of specialization" you should learn more about other brands so you can compare properly. That's like declaring italian food better than any other without having lots of experience with French, Nigerian, Jamaican, mexican, etc huh

Everyone's father's compound is the best till they visit someone else's. You are not ready for this contest.

EDIT: I should add that when it comes to the big engines (V8 and up) and DIESEL, ford is ahead of the game. Their F350 trucks and E series vans are workhorses and will last forever as long as you do routine maintenance.

It's extremely wrong of you to say nooo blatantly without any cogent explanation. I furiously get mad when anyone tries to degenerate ford in any perspectives. the person you replied NO has already become a member of my WhatsApp ford group. I have given him all the details of ford he required to the slightest bits I always tell my group members and all ford lover that those mechanics, technicians, technologists and engineers that normally say negatives about ford are incompetent ones.

Ford vehicles are my only and sole area of specialization and I won't stay idle if anyone tries to ridicule it, I can raise my head high and no one can say otherwise to me, if anyone is competent enough, he should boldly come here and compete with me in Ford vehicles technologies.
Na wa o. Did you read what I highlighted at all? Challenge accepted. When and where do you want to do this once I get into town. This is going to be fun! grin

What if I change my filter ‘every other oil change’ (average of 9,000 - 10,000 miles), would you warranty your filter for such a duration of use?
If you buy a filter rated for 10,000 miles, yes. You do realize doing that with a regular filter is killing your engine right?

Carfax is always recommended for Canada cars but autocheck does the magic for USA cars like this one.

I talked about that on my thread Learn For FREE How You Can Easily Get AUTOCHECK VIN Report Of Any Car For FREE > https://www.nairaland.com/5529840/learn-free-how-easily-get
I ran Carfax already. It's an American car and all the service records are American and it's what all the American dealers use except Florida where they play fast and lose with titles. Most of the records are from Florida but Isorite. No need to post
