Which edition would you advise. I want a 2010 model and above. Is it really better than 2008. which one and edition would u specifically advise. I really do appreciate ur response.
Not much changed until 2014. I would get the newer one or if there is a significant difference, the one with fewer miles.

Good afternoon sir.
In furtherance to this, mechanic opened up the engine and reported that there is nothing wrong with the valves but that there is an issue with the ring. He said he can replace or work it but cannot guarantee the performance after a while because its an aluminium engine. Hence he is suggesting that I buy a new engine for a permanent solution. Diagnostic report are as attached. I am very confused.
Was this engine previously worked on? Was the car smoking?

Also, did he do a compression test because a lot of times, multiple misfire can be caused by the fuel pump on Corollas. MOST IMPORTANT, ask him what the reading of the compression test was. Those codes should not lead you straight to engine work. He should have checked compression first. Ignition secondary circuit codes are typically electrical and not an engine problem. You could replace the engine and still have those codes.

Good morning, I drive hyundai elantra 2010 which I purchased last yr.After using for three month it stopped cooling.I changed the condenser and refilled the gas. Recently it stopped cooling and gas smell comes out from the 'Glover Box". Was told I need to change the Evapourator by removing the dashboard, how true is this and is it compulsory to remove the dashboard before it can be fixed.
Unfortunately, yes if it's the evaporator core however get a second opinion because it could be the expansion valve. The videos below show some evaporator core replacements we've done and before you let that happen, make sure it IS the evaporator core.

I want a volvo but peeps keeps discouraging me. I like the xc90 but friends are shouting about fuel maintenence and affordability and availability of its spare parts. I want to be educated about the car and I hope to buy one before end of September, God willing.
Buy it. They're safe, reliable and comfortable. Parts are not an issue because unless you buy one that was abused you won't need them. Just routine maintenance grin

1. It is more than likely too late to change to the manufacture reccomnadation.. Continue using the palm oil until the engine starts bring out smoke, or better yet sell the car before it gets to that point.....

2. For recommded interval, always read the owners manual. For some cars oil change interval is always every 3k miles if using conventional oil . And every 7k5k miles to 10k miles if using full synethtic... also put into account that Nigerian factor or Lagos traffic with constant stop and go ,idling, dust etc will put more stress on the engine.. So it might better to change earlier than the recommended interval....

Generally speaking, in Nigeria, crowd mentality is a very big thing. If you do something for me and I’m very satisfied, I sing your praises to my friend or circle, even when you’ve not had any dealings with them you’ve been liked by them already and vice versa. That’s why you’ll see in some instances where someone may come at you for no reason on here even if it’s just the first time you’re ever being quoted by that individual. An average nigerian values “My friend/ whoever says she’s............” without their own personal experience. If I see you as a threat maybe to my business or anything, then you’re automatically considered a threat to my circle also.
A man is almost somewhat threatened by a woman with a higher knowledge in a particular field too. It’s a human something. That’s how we’ve been coded.
Then, you being a woman at times do behave like one in some instances I’ve come across where you’ve seen that there was no way and you’ll downplay some issues by either playing victim or being a little pushy/ final in your tune(this is just my opinion anyways). We all process thought differently, you might say something that’s perfectly fine with me and the next available user might make you an e-enemy for live just because of the way he interpreted you grin
A nigerian setting is way different from an American setting so our wiring is different too. grin grin grin
Then always know that you can’t please everybody as you will always make enemies and friends in all walks of life. There are times you should always resist the urge to shalaye too grin grin grin
grin noted

LOL...I know no better, apologies. Thanks for responding @radautoworks

So, I can come to the island no problem. Since, no one on the mainland is responding.

I'd like to do some repairs (after scanning, if any), service and replace all necessary fluids and perform a few upgrades to some 2012 parts and if my bank account never red, I want to get give the ride an ovenbaked makeover.

Are these something we can get done at your workshop?
Everything except the baking. We don't do that yet.

If I didnt know the OP, I would have been worried about this post. But being someone I have worked with both Professionally and otherwise I will resist the urge to Shalaye....

You give 90 days warranties, I give 1year warranties on engine rebuilds that where fully paid for with no discounts.....

TSBs and Recalls do not happen for us here in Nigeria because we majorly do not buy brand new cars and even when the cars are bought brand new, the dealerships find a way of wiggling out from fulfilling their duties....

90 day warranties on labor on any job. One year on rebuilds. Agree with you on TSBs. Before you judge, back up to see how we got here o. I think I was actually pretty restrained in my response grin

If budget were a constraint then why not, else I'll go for the second generation, they're cuter and more loaded.

As for the other questions of consumer complaints and reliability, you'll have to understand that most Nigerians buy these cars when they're at the last lap of their lifetime anyways, we mostly don't care about all those things that bothers the westerners (eg plastic interior build quality etc).

We just want something that looks good and can take us from point A to B and we'll find a way to keep it that way till the car finally gives up. The first generation Ford Edge still does that quite well over here in naija.

Also note that most of those complaints that are on the screenshot you provided must have been handled already(via the recalls mentioned and by the owners abroad) before the car even gets to naija(we buy mainly used or salvage cars) , you'll mostly have to worry about those stuffs if you're buying brand new.
Based on consideration of the bolded paragraph, I cede the argument to you smiley
