The 2007 camry should use TIV for the i4, and ws for the v6.

I dont think the dex III will be compatible with that transmission. He should confirm from his manual
It's compatible with Dex 3. Used all the time in the States. Go to any parts site, enter the vehicle and search for compatible ATF.

Here are the big three (well two. I already showed our results) grin

It is an established fact, not only in Nigeria. I dont even use any German car for your info.

The average German car has more electronics and wiring than an average Japanese car. More electronics mean more electronics problems.

Yes, just like more old people means more deaths. The question is are they a disproportionate number compared to Japanese cars? The answer is no.

I understand now. Thanks for the clarification especially on the replacement part. Next question:

Assuming price of regular pad is X, what's the price of this ceramic brakes in terms of X?
Usually, ceramic pads are pretty cost prohibitive and about twice or more Semi-metallics.

Our ceramics range between approximately 15-20k per set (front or rear). By contrast, our semi-metallics range about 9-13k

Thank you ma. I saw Dextron 111 for Automatic transmission. My question is, can I use any Dextron 111? I have been using only Toyota type IV since I bought the car and did a complete ATF, only once since then. Any time it gets low, I just top it off with 1 lite of Toyota type IV.
Yes. You can use Dexron 3. To help, these are some of the options you have. These are not your only options, just the ones in my database.

Do you mean to say that the gold ceramic brake does not wear?
How about the brake drum disc? Does the offer come with that too? This is because if the brake does not wear, the disc will do.
Good question. They do wear but when they do we will give you new ones for free for the life of the car.

Ceramic brakes are the best quality of brakes by any manufacturer. Less brake dust, quieter, perform better and last much longer. More information about ceramic brakes below.

Most Nigerians don't take care of thier vehicles, they only wait till it doesn't move anymore.

I sent my driver to change oil and he looked at it and said "Oga, it doesn't need to be changed, it's not too black yet" shocked

The car avalon 2000 is at the mechanic now, going through change of top gasket, what coolant will you recommend?
He recommends prestone because that's all he has to sell. Just like he recommends Mobil extended oil and Fram filters for all cars because that's what he has to sell.

While prestone can be used, Asian cars are different and the coolant best suited to them is Zerex http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=ANT&partNumber=675130

I've also included all your other fluids recommendations for your car below.

I look at the stuff, I said you know what I can buy most of these items on eBay spark plugs ,shocks, linkage, etc my total cost $300.00 ..which am about to ship soon
...my point is to help people save money.. So it is win win situation for everybody. But what you don't understand by you derailing my thread you are bringing more traffic to my thread.. So far my coolant thread has over 900 views .... Partly thanks to you

Not to bust your bubble... a good customer service, will go way and above.. You could have easily taken the order of this young man.. Call down to the store have them get his order ready.. And give him one of the contact person at the store ,for easy communication.....in winning over new customers, first impressions means a lot.. Smh ......your attitude at times ,seems like I have enough customers, if you don't buy ,another person will ...so you want him to call the store directly ,when he communicated directly to you ...I am just saying...

And am sure you didn't call back to see if the order went smoothly. Please try and work more on those skills.. We both know that customer service is the key to any business.. You are an American train business person.. Let us pass down those skills to our own personal dealing and people... I am just saying

To buttress her point, if you want to use Extended Performance engine oil, ensure you get a complimentary oil filter that can do 10,000 or 15,000 miles.

Don't use Extended Performance on a 3,000 miles oil filter, if you use a 3,000 miles oil filter to run Extended Performance 15,000 miles you are setting your car engine up for sludge.

The oil filter is as important as the engine oil.

If you get it right with the engine oil, also get it right with the OIL FILTER. If you get engine oil right and get oil filter wrong, you haven't done any good to your car. wink
What he said. Also, what thebigkendo said. If anything, I put synthetic in car for 5,000 miles. I wouldn't do the longer ones but they are available.

Car Talk › Re: Useful Car Information at Mr. Transmission/Milex, Carquest BLOG by radautoworks(op):
Have your ever been driving and had to step on the brakes with all your might? How about when you step on the brake the car vibrates or veers to one side?

Well, that is the focus of this useful blog topic. Brakes.

As important as they are, its amazing how many Nigerians bring in vehicles with brake pads that look like the ones below.

BRAKES
What is it?
The brake system is one of the most important safety systems in your vehicle. The brake system is comprised of many components including brake pads, cylinders, drums, rotors, fluid, shoes, and hydraulic lines and hoses.

What does it do?
Friction is needed to create the stopping motion of your vehicle’s wheels. The brake system creates this friction starting with your force on the brake pedal. That force creates hydraulic pressure that flows through the hydraulic lines and hoses into the wheel cylinders and calipers. Those components are what press the pads against the rotors. That pressing action slows the vehicle based on how firmly the brakes are applied.

Preventative Maintenance
Each component within the brake system needs service at some time. It is likely the brake pads will need replacing when they become too thin. If pads are not replaced and wear away too much they can damage the rotors or drums. Damaged rotors or drums can warp or crack and cause complete
brake failure. Keeping up with brake pad maintenance can help keep you safe and prevent more costly repairs.

Brake fluid maintenance is also important. Over time, brake fluid becomes less effective as water and contamination builds up. This can lead to corrosion, brake damage and brake failure. Your system could also have a leak and without enough brake fluid your vehicle will not brake properly. Annual inspections of your entire brake system can detect leaks and damage and help keep you Road Ready.

Typical Wear and Tear
Wear and tear on your brakes is unavoidable but the key is to stay consistent with your preventive maintenance to avoid costly repairs. Normal wear and tear involves thinning of the brake pads and rotors/drums and contamination of brake fluid.

Several factors that affect wear include:
•Driving habits
•Operating conditions
•Vehicle type
•The quality of brake lining material

Symptoms
•Squeaking, squealing, or grinding noise
when applying the brake
•Brake pedal feels soft or spongy
•Vibration when applying the brake
•Vehicle veers to one side when braking
•Frequent need to replenish brake fluid
•Strong odor after a short drive

SERVICE OPTIONS
Good
•Replace brake pads with standard/organic pads
• Lifetime warranty

Better
• Replace brake pads with metallic/semi
metallic pads
• Lifetime warranty
• Brake system fluid wash

Best
• Replace brake pads with Ceramic" pads
• Lifetime warranty
• Brake system fluid flush

*Some vehicles are factory equipped with Ceramic pads and manufacturers recommend Ceramic plates

When to Service
If you notice poor braking performance, you should bring your vehicle in for a brake system inspection. If the brake pedal is low, soft or spongy when braking, you may need to replace fluid or brake pads. Your owner's manual may also specify when to perform brake system services. At every oil change, your brake linings, drums, rotors and fluid should be inspected as well as the parking brake.

Benefits of Service
•Prolonged rotor and drum life
•Reduces internal fluid temperature
•Improves safety
•Prolongs life of hydraulic system

. Thanks for your response, I mean how many miles should one go b4 considering an oil and filter change? Or how many months with the SAE 5w30 Oil
If you have a car that tracks these things, it will tell you when it's ready for a change. Otherwise, the norm is 3 months/ 3,000 miles. Synthetics are usually 5,000 miles and then you have some extended that will allow you to go as long as 15,000 miles. Those seem to be popular here but really are not intended for your typical entry level cars.

Thanks for this detailed info. It's 4 plug with over 170k mileage, bought 3 months ago (toks). Oil cap says 5w30 and that's what I've been using but it keeps drying up so gazzuzz recommended 5w40. As 0w20 is thinner than 5w30, don't you think it'll dry up faster?
Is oil cap connected to car? If it's not, it may not be it's oil cap.
Gazzuzz and I always disagree about this. Bring it in to shop for them to take a look at it. Don't treat the symptom. Treat the disease.
