Car Talk › Re: Car Brake Pads: How Often Should They Be Replaced? by radautoworks: 1:40am On Sep 01, 2018
sammily:
Which brand of breakpad is the best one can get in Nigeria?

Is Du-Craft breakpad a good brand for people that have used it because I thinking of changing mine very soon.
Carquest brake pads have lifetime warranties in the USA but we are starting with one year here to see how it goes.

Nigerians are sometimes there own nightmares not there boss. Nobody heard the guy speaking in terms of his contracts. He said the agreement was six months before probation and confirmation.

What is wrong with asking people to honor there agreement. If he has not perform as expected under the six months probation period. Why not drop him. If he has why not proceed to the next stage as stated in the agreement.

Nigerians please learn to know your rights. And try not to always negotiate from positions of weakness. You give yourself away too cheaply with unessary fear.
Sometimes the employee's performance is borderline so rather than terminate, we continue to watch before deciding. In my case though, we would have given him a performance review and let him know that was the case.

Bro, let me just add to what has been said.
1. The first thing you need to do is compile results you've achieved for the company. Saying you're productive is subjective - results on the other hand do not lie.
2. Formally asked to be confirmed. write to your immediate superior, copy his/her Boss and HR. Highlight the results you've achieved for the firm, and politely asked for a review or meeting to discuss your career growth within the firm (of course to enable you add more value to them).
3. Update your CV with results stated in 1 above. and start passively applying for other positions.
4. If called for a meeting or review, make sure you have handy the list you compiled in 1 above, don't assume they'll remember. it's your bargaining chip no one can fault.

All the best.
As a Nigerian employer in multiple companies, I was just about to type pretty much this to you .

One of my employees just asked for the same thing yesterday. My answer was simple. "Why do you think you deserve a raise?" I'm waiting for his answer. Unbeknownst to him, he was already on the books to be given one wink hopefully his response doesn't change that.

Do not attempt this unless you have solid data to back why you deserve one and "I've been here 6 months and been productive" is not a solid reason. You're SUPPOSED to be productive. Have you accomplished more than you're supposed to and set yourself apart in any way? Simply doing your job is not enough.

Also, six months just coming off probation is a little early to be asking unless it was one of the terms of your hire that pay would be reviewed in six months when you got off probation. In my employee's case, it was one of the terms otherwise I would not entertain his request for a year.

Toyota craze is real.

I remember when around 40 cars were vandalized at a bank's car-park in Marina some years back.

Just 4nights ago, one Hilux was vandalized even with 2 private security guards were on duty. The guards didn't even notice until the company drivers resumed and saw it.

Remedial action were done by insurance for both theft.
Actually, that happened in my other office building a few months ago before we opened. A client parked their Hilux in my compound and the "brainbox" was stolen. Crazy part was they had time to dismantle and fix everything back like nothing happened. It was when Glen has time to check out and tried to start it we discovered the theft like WTF. Made security company party for it though because WTF.

Exactly why I said I'm waiting one month for update. That "fix" was just butter for mechanics bread.

Can this prevented by regular maintenance or its a sure failure regardless of any measure taken to mitigate it.
It's really not a concern as long as you keep up your maintenance

This thread is useful and rich in information.kudos to the owner of the thread. My own submission is this, with the recent clamp down on assylum seekers migrating from US to Canada, and visas being recalled and cancelled and several being denied. One needs to be cautious as a Nigerian entering the US now.It is still possible but ensure it's done the right way.Present valid documents and be 100% honest.
This should always be the case but alas

Looks like it might have frame damage and some more engine components than you think. The left side looks skewed when you look at rear vs front view. You don't buy a car like this sight unseen.

Update

Dear All,

Thanks for the contributions.

wink

The ride is back and is working but still has its ugly sound.

Half is berra than...... cheesy

Also, i wanna talk about the relays..picture below..

According to the pix below,

The following relays are missing:

1. Air Con
2. Fog Lamps
3. Audio
4. BCM
5. Eng MGT
6. Wiper Deicer.

You can also refer to the picture.

What are their uses please and could there be any situation to warrant their removal?
By working, how many of the 7 issues in your original post have been fixed? grin

Waiting response anxiously. Especially one month update.

I actually think switching should not be a problem, as long its same oil weight/grade and motor does not have any pending sludge issue it.
If any switch will bring up any issue, it should be the other way round (ie going from conventional to synthetic) like in Uncle Yusuf's corolla engine wink
In our experience, it's the downgrade that causes problems. It's not guaranteed to but when there have been issues, it was caused by going from syn to conventional.

Your car can be raised even without changing the tires contact radautoworks
Yes, you can use spacers/lift kits but car will never ride the same and it's expensive for what you get IMO. You have to lift in 12mm increments. So, if the lift kit exists, yes. But again the cost for a Corolla.
