nwanneni:And I'm not a girl, boy. I'm a woman ![]() |
nwanneni:Turbo chargers do increase fuel consumption. Again, to get better fuel consumption with a turbo charger, you'd have to reduce engine size. That's why instead of v6, manufacturers will put a turbo 4 which brings us back to smaller engine=smaller fuel consumption. Just like the mistake your buddy made in willful misinterpretation of my previous answer, a turbo charged 4 is not going to be more fuel efficient than a regular 4. I'll make it easy for you. Go look up two versions of the same car and look at the manufacturer mpgs then come back and apologize. If you're more cerebral, then read https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/globe-drive/adventure/red-line/the-trouble-with-turbos-why-fuel-economy-can-be-worse-not-better/article29705614/ I've attached one to help you get started. NEXT!

HeavenlyBang:1. Seriously, your beef is that I didn't say super instead of turbo? Do you really think that distinction was necessary for a lay person? Semantics over whether it's external air versus the exhaust providing the extra power? Does that negate the point I was making that it has nothing to do with comparison to the 4matic as they are two completely different systems in a car? Interesting how the use of turbo didn't get your panties in a bunch earlier when a guy said it ![]() 2. Again, your argument has nothing to do with the comparison I was making. A turbo charged 4cyl is less fuel efficient than a regular 4 cyl. What in my statement made you think I was comparing 4s to 6s? I clearly said compared to the boost you get from the turbo charger, the additional consumption is not worth it. Does a turbo charged 4 give you more power than a 6? No. It gives you more power than a regular four. Thanks for the mansplain but next time, make sure your assumption is what was being talked about first. *Oh, and since we are nitpicking, work-arounds |
Kewtt:Thanks. I really want to hear how I'm wrong though ![]() |
HeavenlyBang:Okay. So educate me. What part is wrong? |
I APOLOGIZE I WILL BE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REST OF TODAY WEDNESDAY AUGUST 1ST AS I HAVE DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS AND FAMILY COMING INTO TOWN. Please call the shop with one of the numbers on the first page if you need help. I will be available again tomorrow. |
rozayx5:Drain all oil and redo oil change. Too much oil when you changed the oil was what we said. |
mexxy1:Not in stock but may be available with 6-10 day delivery. I can't verify today for you because I have doctor's appointment and family arriving. You can call the shop if it's time sensitive and they can see which of our DC's have it. ivoryhouse:Hello, we don't use WhatsApp. Please call either of the company numbers on the first page to talk to and/or schedule an appointment with my husband. |
rozayx5:Did you do what we suggested with your oil? |
J0hnTrevolt:A lot of things could cause this. Start with checking your engine oil (though if your mechanic is any good I'm assuming he did this already). Each time you do one of the next things (in order), clear the code and see if it comes back. Worst case scenario is a new ECM so check these other things first: Timing, oil control valve, vvt assembly. Blinking check engine light suggests bad coil or misfire. I really can't diagnose your car and can only make suggestions sight unseen but get a good mechanic to check the above. No, it does not sound like you need a new engine. |
Hi, Did you get the email we sent with commercial pricing examples? |
rozayx5:Yes, I wanted to see if you resolved your smoking problem |
Yale9:Right after second toll gate on the right side. |
DabFrankNG:Hello, all that information is in the very first post of the thread https://www.nairaland.com/4501821/carquest-2nd-largest-usa-parts It is also in Google maps if you search Milex, Mr transmission or Rad Auto Works |
GentleChocho:Short version, generally the smaller the engine the less the fuel consumption. With Mercedes you are always going to get power for the engine size. I've owned many Mercedes in my lifetime and when you are in the same class, it's not a huge difference in power unless it's an AMG. As far as 4matic vs kompressor, you are comparing apples to oranges. 4matic is Mercedes 4 wheel drive system whereas kompressor means it's a turbo charged engine. Turbo=more fuel consumption which IMHO is not worth the power boost in this class. Also, harder to maintain should something go wrong. Get the c230 and be done with it. If you think you need 4wd because of where you live, get the 4matic. Ignore the kompressor as it's the opposite of your stated concern. |
PAQ:Unfortunately Carquest does not carry body parts. We apologise for the inconvenience. |
tensazangetsu20:umm.. yes, that's the great post people really don't know part... |
9icetoo:I pulled that from the highway code. I guess they're wrong then... |
sleekpro:Give way to any vehicle approaching from your right including an oncoming vehicle that has turned right at the intersection. Only at roundabouts do you give way to the left. |
lillyontop:Exactly. The law is the law |
A little self-promotion here, most of these don't apply to us ![]() Maybe they will when Nigerians start showing us fire lol It's a great post though because people really don't know. |
pappy2000:First, read this https://www.nairaland.com/post/69784777 Then, answer what we are all asking you. What is the car doing? Not what your mechanic is telling you, what are you seeing or hearing with your own korokoro? |
thebigkendo:ROFL!!!! I think na the single pepeyes this one go work for. SIMPLE SOLUTION: You guys will start putting it out here how sexy it is when a woman knows a bit about a cars. Classes will be FLOODED. ![]() |

Lexusgs430:You know you have to go sit in the corner for a while and think about what you just said right? lol |
thebigkendo:Chim oooooo!!! That's exactly what the mini-course are to avoid. So they at least know the difference between oil, coolant etc. You think it catch on? The teenager class is something my husband really wants to do. That's how he started out in Jamaica. Same challenges then. Mechanics had no respect and it was looked down on. Noone considered it a viable option. People don't know how technical it actually is. Not everyone can be a lawyer, doctor or engineer. This is a good career path for a lot of people. If a child shows interest, it will be a good foundation for them to go on from. In Houston, we actually took on a pair of brothers for a year. Today, one of them is a tech at a Nissan dealership and doing excellent for himself at age 17. The other helps out every once in a while with his nephew's repair shop but chose a different career path. |
SMH. |
thebigkendo:Wetin I wan teach baba? Me I be small girl o! Suspensions on the women or the cars? ![]() |
In the new year, we are considering the following programs and would like your thoughts: 1) routine maintenance and basic car care class for women only. Will most likely be one hour mini-courses on Saturdays for women to learn basic things to take care of on their cars to avoid problems. 2) youth program. These will be most likely be semester long programs for children ages 10-17 to come and learn about cars. All classes will be free. |
obekediamondfuto:It depends on the engine and what's wrong with it. Different engines have different labor hours to dismantle, then we find which part is bad and replace. Payment for teardown is applied to rebuild or replacement once we determine which is needed. Yes on diesel but only small ones right now. |
jodeci:You don't do it yourself. Take it to a radiator guy to do it for you. I don't think our equipment for that came in yet. |
