Crownhouxe: Simply, self PROMOTION! Thank GOD that He has blessed you with your opportunities and privileges. Most Americans would not be impressed with the fact that that you have two European vehicles and a bike - big deal. You are are trying to impress upon members of this forum shamelessly and arrogantly because most don't know about Autozones, Pep Boys or even Walmart. We hear others on this forum tell us their products are from the USA, but you have to let us know it's from a Walmart close to where you live in Duarte, California. Who cares? Perhaps you are trying to impress those who wish they had your opportunity to travel back and forth to the US. Some on the forum actually do. Next time post on your local online forum for the benefit of residents of Duarte, California. What got your panties in a bunch !!?!!? |

EgunMogaji: The last major work I did was on my MR2.
It developed a water leak in the cylinder head near a spark plug hole. It was completely drivable but when water had an opportunity to pool in their then it will cause a misfire which will go away as soon as the water evaporated.
Anyways, instead of swapping the engine, I simply removed the head and exchanged it at a machine shop or online (I forgot) and reinstalled it.
So guys, if the same thing happened in Nigeria, would you swap engines or just change the head?
PS: The engine had 285,000 miles on it and was sold at over 300,000 miles. Heads. You win |

AutoElectNG: I have spent a fortune on brand new fuel pumps until I discovered fuel pump must go with fuel filter or a complete pump assembly
Next stage for any car with a metallic tank I have adopted the suggestion put across by the ijebu high chief
Will drop the tank and turn it into a brand new tank using the method he posted on Gazzuzz ford thread
With plastic fuel tanks that may not be necessary That's exactly why we recommend changing filter and full clean when we do fuel pumps or sending units. |

LeJeun3:
Goalpost changed or not....
The size of engine and ultimate cost of such an engine, would be the main factor considered in either a rebuild or replacement.
If a Toyota Yaris is towed into my workshop, I would give an invoice for a replacement engine immediately. Fiddling with that size of engine when I am not going to increase the bores, fit in sport pistons and a turbo isn't worth it to. Secondly, clients with the desire for a rebuild in this case are trying to cut costs and essentially would not afford the cost of genuine new parts for said engine....
The cost of a V8 engine of same cleaness will buy a used car of same model most times.....
So a rebuild is preferred.
Agreed. That's why I said Corolla, no. Lx470, hell yeah after teardown and inspection. |

oblo: If you have time and mony for a complete teardown then by all means go ahead... But I seriously doubt if you can remove the gunk from all nooks, crevices and passageways. Abi u wan use laser? Actually, previously mentioned machine will de-gunk it in 45 mins Inception: sludge buildup. Best solution is a complete dissaambly of top cylinder and possibly soak top block ( for hours) in a dissolving agent(solvent). There are are proven solvents in the market that can achieve this( can't remember any for now). Very important to take note of oil passages. Valve shims to be inspected, cam lobes to be inspected, journal bearings to be inspected. Camshaft to be inspected.
This can be repairable to factory specs with the right tools and expertise, religiously following repair manual for tolerances. Exactly what I'm talking about. We use it for trannies too. It takes solvent detergent and steam and in 45 minutes, it looks like a rapper's brand new grill. Stuff like this: https://www.transtar1.com/products/parts-cleaningYes, we have one in the shop We came strapped for war with Naija problems o |

Agree with taking it in for actual diagnostic. Best guess from what I heard is the pump but needs verification. If it is the pump, do not pay more than: Cardone reman power steering pump N72,635 1 year warranty http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=PSC&partNumber=21-5498Labor 1.8 hours= N9,000 Remember to also change the inline filter and use OE fluid to flush the system. |

olaade21: I think I need to help you out with respect to the guy saying your Oils are expensive. He his simply a troll. Never pay much attention to such people.
With regards to how they can get their Oil so cheaply. He should understand that this is Nigeria. Some of those Oils or Auto Parts are bought with stolen ccs, they end up paying no custom charges and can eaily flip it for half price.
Even in the US and Uk. Shit like that happen.
What the guy should actually be checking is the Usd price of your products on your US website or manufacturers website before making baseless accusations.
Anyway, keep doing what you do. You will gain your own loyal and dedicated customers with time. Never compromise on good quality and service. I yield to the words of the wise. I completely forgot about the 'free' ones too. |

GAZZUZZ: ask Glen, some things are that easy He agrees for him as the mechanic replacing is easier.. but no warranty! Man, we have stories of replacements that were hell because the engines had to go back two or three times and the seller (big used engine distributor too) didn't want to refund. 3 months to get money back o! In the meantime we had to deal with frustrated customer. At least there you can send engine back within a certain number of days under certain conditions. I think it was 10? |
