The masses that don't know that a coup is a treasonable offence? What do the masses know? The masses that have been used and dumped by politicians for eons? The nigerian masses don't know their right from their left, that's why Buhari is even in the picture. Mean but true. If you had read the economist newspaper article on Nigeria election then you would have understand why some Nigerians are supporting Buhari. Noone is saying Buhari is a saint or Nigerian messiah. The problem is with GEJ/PDP that have ruled Nigeria for over 15 yrs with nothing to show for it. Some people are just tired of PDP and the next available option is APC. This is why Nigerians are supporting a coup plotters over a democrat. GEJ enjoyed the goodwill of all Nigerians in 2011 but failed to capitalized on his popularity in 2011 to improve the state of the country. I voted for GEJ in 2011 but I am not going to vote for him again because I didn't personally gain anything from his government. |

I personaly think Buhari is going to be disqualified by the court next month and there might be more violence and killing if buhari is disqualify. |

hedonistic: Every hungry fool who collects daily stipends from Tinubu in Bourdillon would come online to claim 'political strategist'. Yimu.
All your so-called reasons are baseless and unfounded. The elections were postponed mainly because INEC is not ready at this time, and the security agencies are not ready too.
A significant number of registered voters have not collected their PVCs in the Southern part of the country. Ad-hoc INEC staff have not been trained on how to operate the card readers and other devices associated with the elections. INEC has not mapped out a plan on how to deploy men and materials to all designated polling centres in the country.
These are legitimate reasons to postpone the election. . . . . more so when you consider the fact that previous elections had been held between March and April. Nobody in the PDP or presidency has talked about postponing the May 29 handover date, so why are you APC rascals unduly worked up? What sinister plans did you have in mind for February 14th? where did you get all this your information from? The PVC collection rate would still not be above 70% in most states if you considered the number of people that die since 2011, people that have relocated for various reason and people that don't want to vote. Jega claimed that they are ready for the election and the problem is that the federal government has refused to provide security for INEC even tho the army has had over a yr to make the necessary security arragement for inec |

TechRev: And why should INEC determine who falls under your "most"? Every registered Nigerian should vote. Lucky you, you have collected yours. I know people that are tired of going to their LGA repeatedly and still cant get theirs. JEGA had 4yrs to do this. Its a pity he is still talking 70% please what is 30% of 63million?? Every registered Nigerian should get his PVC and be able to use it. INEC failed! Even if the election is move to 2019, every Nigerians will still not be able to collect their PVC. You should also consider that millions of people have died since 2011, Many people have also move from the place they register and some people just don't want to collect their PVC. Also previous elections in Nigeria was less than 50% in turn out. In fact it was 32% turn out in lagos in 2011. |
Politics › Re: propaganda by Raiders: 10:04pm On Feb 07, 2015 |
TechRev: Its easy to say what you are saying when you are not among the about 30million that will be disenfranchised. Spin all the story you want but those 30million voters need to be heard(by their votes). Ask JEGA why. 30 millions are not disenfranchised like you stated. Most of the PVCs are ready to collect but some people don't want to collect their PVC. Today INEC stated they have distributed over 70% of the PVC and people can still collect till Feb 13th. The problem with Nigerians is we always wait till the last mins to do stuffs. |

babestella: The presidency is taking into consideration the issue of security in north east and the fact that many have not gotten their PVC yet. I don't know why APC wants the elections despite the fact that most people don't have PVC yet. Do you know that the election could be cancelled based on the fact that many did not vote? Who accounts for the loss? There had been serious exodus of people from the north to the south, the IDPs are not yet all accounted for and the mode of voting for them not yet determined, concrete steps need to be taken towards making it possible for those who migrated from North to south for fear of post election violence to vote.
Please let us be realistic and objective in our criticism. Why are people migrating from north to south?, obviously as a result of careless statements from an APC contestant in 2011 and also for 2015 elections (regards blood of Monkeys and baboons) already laying a foundation for another electoral violence. I should say sometimes the words we voice out comes back to hunt us. Insecurity has been created in the North East and we now have to pay the price. No one conducts elections in an insecure environment. Period. even if the election is move to 2019 there would still not be above 80% pvc collection rate in all states. Some people just don't want to collect their pvc and vote and you cant force people to vote. Also there is no guarantee that the security situation will improve in 6 weeks time. Infact there will be more political violence and killing if the election is postpone because there will be tension in the country. Nigeria is already divided now because of the election and the election should hold as soon as possible so the country can unite back together and focus on more important issues affecting Nigerians. Louislewis: Jega, if you have been advised by Security Chiefs of this nation to postpone the election without it having any effect on the handover date, you better do so. I believe life of the electorates are more important than any individual selfish interest. For any person, group of persons, or party, going against the postponement, because he or she, they or their party felt that it will be of their advantage of winning the election, without putting into consideration of what the post-election violence that will erupt due to INEC inability of distributing uniformly the PVC to all State of the federation, without putting the life of the electorates in the North - East of this country, which our security agents had made it known to Jega that their life will not be guaranteed except ample time of 6weeks is given, does or do not wish this country well. what if the security situation don't improve in 6 weeks time? A lot of anomalies & irregularities have been unearthed so time is required for corrections and clarifications, and above all Jega's integrity as an unbiased umpire has been called to question. Finally, no law will be broken if the date is extended since the constitution stipulates that election would hold anytime before 30 days to handover date. The law has not been broken either if the election is conducted on Feb 14th. INEC claimed they are ready for the election. Why don't we all Nigerians come together to support INEC in conducting a free and fair elections so the country can move forward and focus on more important issues. |

owobokiri: Jega needs to be put on the spot! He has to explain to Nigerians how Borno state with all the jumpy security situation in that state, recorded far more INEC PVC delivery exercise than MOST southern states!!! This is a pure heineous crime only surpassed by his weird attempt to increase northernm polling booths by over 30,000. This must be why they got rid of Azazi and co. . These hyper active fulani oligarchs together with their crumb eating Yoruba "bom boys" have been running rings arround an utterly bemused jonathan for months. The reason Borno has a higher PVC than most southern state is because they want change and the only way they can do it is through the ballot box. I feel sorry for them because GEJ has failed them in protecting them. Most of our southern brothers don't really give a sh1t about the election. Go the streets in the southern states and ask how many plan on voting, most will tell you they don't want to vote because they don't trust the system and government. Even my parents have not collected their pvc in Warri and don't plan on voting. The election should not be postpone but should hold so the country can move on based on who ever win. |

GEJ must postpone the election & put the armed forces on alert to forestall any break down of law & order especially in the north were they would attempt to use the illiterate almajiris to cause riot. Going to the polls based on the status quo is nothing but wilfully walking into a trap set by your enemy with predetermined fatal consequences. I am ashamed with leaders like South South leaders E.K Clark. Rather than support and encourage Prof Jega . they are busy tarnishing his image n the pages of newspaper. I don't think there is any grand conspiracy to victimize GEJ. The reason there is low PVC collection in the south is because there is very low voters apathy in the south compare to the north. In fact, I predict that there will be more voters turn out in the south than in the north. Most people I know in the south, including me, don't even plan on voting. Whats the point going to vote for the same corrupt leaders who don't really care about the people.
Also, I don't see any reason why the north should not have more polling center because they have more LGA, States and population than the south. Prof. Jega is trying his best to conduct election in Nigeria and I think all Nigerians should support him. |
