world1:My dear such are our bane here, imagine earlier this year government released 14 billion naira for dry season farming yet a water project in Ogun state which has facility for irrigation, cannot not provide water for farmers. For the green house, @pavore is right we can actually provide it here locally. I will search for one of those video on green house and send it to you. |
Wow! I believe Nothing is impossible, since temperature in Nigeria is always the problem. What if we green house the tree and give the required temperature. Just thinking! |
jasper7:More reason why I need to get to closer, there are a lot to learn from you sir. Infact I left the place for now had move to poultry in the meantime. Though planning for year season |
jasper7:Am forced to comment at this juncture, I have been following this threaD since yesterday as if my life depended on it. I don't even know weather to start crying or weep for myself. Sure farm work requires patient and due diligence, its not a get rich quick avenue but sure gives riches if you know your game. Earlier this year I did 3 hectares of cucumber but couldn't make much due to glut then. But with your system here am gearing up for a rematch. Thank you very much. If I have a way of reaching you I won't mind spending my christmas holiday with you. Am from anambra though base in lagos my farm is sited at ogun state. Chukwuduifeanyi@gmail.com that's my email I don't know how best to reach you as I couldn't access your contact. Thanks for the VALUE you are sharing! |
One good thing about this list is that majority of them started small, and on non-oil field. Its interesting especially now that we have craze for oil and the oil is disappointing us. Imagine the man who started manufacturing edible oil is among biggest employer of labour. @OP Thanks for this thread! |
world1:True talk my brother, wetin we de take see for farm mouth no fit talkam finish. If this vietman guys are skilled it will go long way. Somehow it will boost our local skill here too. |

Can you imagine this two, what's happening here, someone asked relevant question that is capable of helping their career, all they could do is asking some stupid questions. Can't you guys locate romance section? @Femtech please don't allow this distract you. From my experience I think maize is cheaper but it dependent on the season. Please is it possible I hook up with you by november 7th at nkpor to check out your poultry farm? |

jethro2: Nomination and election for new executives will be holding tomorrow in Abeokuta. Time is 10am. Please lets be punctualPlease why is this limited to only those in Abeokuta? Any plan for Lagos? |
Simple economic will suffice here "the higher the demand for PONMO either for consumption or for leather the higher the value added both in dollars and naira" both can still go hand in hand, that will also encourage more farmers to go into cattle rearing |
FarmTech: Anambra farmers, where are you peopleThinking of coming to Nkpor next week @farmtech will be able to see you? I need to see your poultry farm, I want to learn from the masters |
Mhhhm this is deep! But Nigerian politicians can be sensible when they are out of power. I experiment on castor seed, heard they have a union that controls it here in Nigeria. Its a poisonous crop yet life saving. We only hope for the best |
@pavore9 please how can one get that pump that is attached to the okada. Thank u |
I will want to stand on the side of food processing: but truely one need to look at both w holistically, you cannot isolate one and leave the other. From experience here in nigeria, I realise that farmers go through a lot of stress to sell their farm produce. There is no system in place here to help a farmer produce then hands off sales. So you see a farmer produce here, plan his logistic then beg market women to buy at reasonable price. Processing earns more for a farmer, and for economic development it encourages serious entrepreneurship, more people are employed to cater for farm produce. My 2 cent though Hope it made sense |

boluwajokosegun: For those who want to dry any farm porduce,There is one commercial dryer manufactured in Ibadan it dry cassava chips, fish, moringa, fruits & meat by using heat generated from chacoal, not using direct fire from chacoal for drying so it maintain the original colour of the produce that you place in it. call 08136650972 ...Cost is N360k , it drys 5 tons with N200 chacoalPlease can it dry plantain and Banana and maintain its original colour? |
Pavore9: Noted.@Pavore I understand what you mean by processing it, infact I have seen one packaged and branded in a nylon bag, the person was complaining of NAFDAC wahala but I don't know the process I mean how they preserve it for freshness for a long time |
UchihaMadara: I don't agree with the example you cited in no. 6, though I agree with the overall idea. You don't need to use your money to build the road. You can organise your neighbourhood to pressure government to fix the road. I give you an example of community joining forces together "sometime 2 years ago I was getting crazy estimated bills from PHCN, I tried writing them on several occasion that the bills are heavy that I don't use that much of electricity in 1 month (14 to 16k monthly) they came to my house did findings yet the bills persist, on one of my numerous trip to their office I mett some guys writing down names of those offended by the bills I quickly put down my name and number. To cut long story shot we wrote to PHCN office Alausa wrote NERC and to Police station, infact this jolted their ogas at Alausa that they had to call us for series of meeting at the end of the day PHCN had to come to my house to install prepaid meter without paying them a dime" imagine what we were able to achieve with a group within a shot period despite the fact that some community heads wanted to fight us. |
@ OP thanks for this info, but please clarify on the number of goat per acre, how you say 10 goat for 1 acre not even plot, are you sure of that. Considering high cost land, I have seen someone rear 8 cattle inside an office building. |
