Why should get constitute a new cabinet when he was happy with the one he had?
Because it is unconstitutional (Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended).

It means doing things differently. The whole point is that PMB should be allowed to establish and run his government without petty and baseless issues thrown about to discredit his administration. However any genuine criticisms are good for our national development.

Jonathan already has an existing goverment. And what he did was a shake up.

Even COS and SGF we never have. Its bad!
Were the ministers in office for those 6 weeks?

NO.

Were there any FEC meetings for those 6 weeks?

NO.

Stop comparing apples to oranges. GEJ was already president and had a cabinet in place. Can't you see Dron your topic that while some were newly appointed, others were reassigned.

Nice try but try harder next time.
No, he was acting President and inherited Yar'aduas cabinet in 2010 which he reshuffled. He had all the time when he was acting to constitute a new cabinet ready for his inauguration in 2011.

Second of all, he dissolved his cabinet before May 29th.

Third of all, it is unconstitutional for ministers to function without being sworn in, so they could not have continued after dissolution.

Finally, while you were reading, did you not see where he promised to announce his cabinet after 2 weeks & failed?

Goodluck Jonathan did not have his own cabinet till 6 weeks after his inauguration.

An opposition that lacks the capacity to address issues will only be left with lies, deceit and hypocrisy.
PoliticsJonathan Announced Cabinet 6 Weeks After Inauguration (Throwback) by Rawani(op):
No man has a good enough memory to be a successful liar.

- Abraham Lincoln

This a reminder to the detractors of our dear President Buhari. Even after the Presidency has explained that the delay in announcing the Presidents cabinet is attributed to the late handover over of transition documents (on the 28th of May) which meant the Joda committee tasked with studying the briefs and making recommendations could only submit their report yesterday, he has been inundated with criticism from forgetful TANoids. Let us also note that if President Buhari announces his cabinet next week, it would be the earliest ever done in Nigeria's democratic history.

Goodluck Jonathan announced his cabinet 6 weeks after inauguration despite promising to announce after 2 weeks. This was even after serving for more than a year as acting President following Former President Yar'adua's death.

Jonathan Assigns Portfolio To 31 Ministers, Creates New Ministries, Redeploys Minister Of Transport

Posted: July 11, 2011 - 21:16

By SaharaReporters, New York

Exactly six weeks after he took office, President Goodluck Jonathan today updated his cabinet to 31 Ministers.  He had vowed he would have the full cabinet, which is expected to be made up of 42 persons, in place in two weeks.

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Anyim Pius Anyim, also announced changes in the cabinet today, as approved by the president. Among them:

Yusuf Suleman has been moved from the Ministry of Transport to the Sports Commission as Chairman and Minister after he reportedly demanded huge bribes from NIMASA last week. Mr. Suleiman was slated to be dropped from the cabinet but the Sultan of Sokoto reportedly intervened; Idris Umar is now the Minister of Transport;  Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade moves to the Ministry of Police Affairs; Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide becomes Hononorable Minister of State, FCT; and A new Ministry of Communication Technology.

The government said the new Ministry would be headed by a Minister "who is very versatile in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to give it the desired focus in view of the critical importance of ICT in driving a modern economy.". Mr. Jonathan also made Olusegun Aganga, the former finance minister,  the  "Trade and Investment" minister. The new ministry is expected to bring investments into Nigeria.

Jonathan's cabinet is mostly his old cabinet from the previous administration.  His critics question his snail pace as well as lack of courage to bring in a healthy dose of technocrats to generate new ideas and momentum.

While he has preached a so-called "transformational agenda," Jonathan has so far failed the first test of transparency by failing to declare his assets or generate an offensive against corruption, Nigeria's perennial enemy.  Indeed, cracks may already have begun to appear in the fabric of his government, as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed B. Adoke, declared during his screening at the Senate that the anti-corruption agencies do not properly understand their their statutory mandates, and that they lack the capacity to investigate and prosecute economic crimes.  But it is to those agencies that Jonathan pledged to hand his war against corruption.

The updated cabinet is as follows:

He said Buhari could not make any
pronouncement on appointments or any other
issue until he received the report of his
transition committee.
Shehu recalled that Jonathan submitted its
handover note to Buhari on the eve of his
(Jonathan) exit from office.

He said the President thereafter handed over
the note to a committee led by Ahmed Joda to
study and make recommendations.
He added, “The Joda committee was given two
weeks to study Jonathan’s handover note and
make recommendations.

“This committee just finished its assignment on
Wednesday evening and may present its
recommendations to the President on Friday.”

It is not unexpected. Buhari has never for once supported Military action against BH under GEJ's administration. Instead of him to concern himself with the victims of BH bastards, he's more concerned with probing the military for fighting BH.
That is not true.

“There is no justification for this wanton disregard for the sanctity and dignity of human life. Any ideology that trafficks in terror and violence is a devilish ideology that has no place in a civilized society.

“This is the time for our security agencies and those responsible for the security and well-being of our citizens to intensify vigilance in order to mitigate future occurrences.

“Because, it is inconceivable that despite heavy militarization, terrorists and other criminal elements are still able to terrify the defenceless populations of those areas.

“May God grant us the strength and unity to overcome this.”

The AG should leave no stone unturned in this investigation, as more information about the sponsors of the blood sucking animals could be gathered in the process. Those that argue that this investigation with possible prosecution and incarceration might negatively affect the morale of the officers should note that as at today, a total of 509 officers and soldiers are facing separate courts martial for offences relating to conspiracy, disobedience to lawful orders, neglect and mutiny as a result of the corruption and impunity that reigned under Goodluck Jonathan's tenure as Commander-in-chief, mostly due to the lack of effective leadership which would have put the service chiefs to task and ensured they were accountable for their actions and inactions. Why should they face the courts while their superiors enjoy their looted billions?

There is no fallen morale worse that that which led frustrated soldiers to shoot at their senior officer some months ago. Apart from the lack of equipment and welfare which could trigger such an extreme action, being asked to round up 200+ civilians to slaughter because ONE person was identified as a neighbour to the rest, definitely leaves mental and psychological scars on these human soldiers.

The period of accountability is here. It should be noted that PMB did not order this investigation (to warrant witch-hunting claims), and his pursuance of this indictment is an indication of his commitment, and is critical to his domestic and international success in eliminating Boko Haram.

While it would more satisfying to handcuff these criminals and stream their prosecution on YouTube, this strategy is more effective than a plea bargain which would have been the other reasonable option considering the enormity of the looted funds.

PoliticsRe: Hear What The Constitution Says On Elections Of Nass Leaders by Rawani:
Another point worthy of note is that only the Senators that were present were actually inaugurated, effectively disenfranchising the rest of the senator-elects, as such there was actually no quorum in the first place.

Assuming they were all inaugurated, then the 1/3 rule would hold, but as only a handful were inaugurated, the remaining disenfranchised senator-elects have a strong case as there was no quorum. You cannot form a quorum with legislators that have not been sworn in, the definition of a 'member' in that clause is subject to interpretation as to who constitutes a member, keeping in mind that PMB only issued a proclamation for the holding of the first session of the National Assembly.

Chapter 5. Part 1. Section 54 (1)
1) The quorum of the Senate or of the House of Representatives shall be one-third of all the members on of the Legislative House concerned.

Chapter 5. Part 1. Section 64 (3)
3) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the person elected as the President shall have power to issue a proclamation for the holding of the first session of the National Assembly immediately after his being sworn in, or for its dissolution as provided in this section.

I believe the PDP needed a reprieve from the seemingly endless reminders of the disaster that was Jonathan, through PMB's every move, decisons and photos. This victory was actually for democracy and the CPC elements within the APC who succeeded in weakening Jagaban's hold on the party. Saraki proved he was a politician, at the same time he reminded the world he lacked honour and principles. President Buhari is also a winner as he re-inforced his independence, shaming those that asserted he would be a Tinubu puppet, and proving he is a man of his word.

Tomorrow however, TANoid's hatred for President Buhari will overpower their love for Saraki once another glossy photo of PMB surfaces, and their lamentations will continue, let us enjoy this reprieve while it lasts.

These are relevant issues REASONABLE people will ponder about as you DON'T need oil revenues to build a 'mega city' of stark ILLITERATES who can produce NOTHING on their own but depend on the exercised brains of our longer nosed fellow homo sapiens like eternal underdogs and BEGGARS!

Was London, New York, Geneva, Stockholm, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing etc built on oil money or rather the CREATIVE power of brains that are constantly put to work by all citizens huh
At the University of Coventry, England, over 50% of the module tutors and academic staff of the department of Oil & Gas Management are Nigerians, so much so that there are whispers of complaints about our accent from the foreign students. The same applies in the University of Aberdeen, one of the best schools for Oil and Gas Engineering in the World. PoliticsRe: What The Buharis Are Not Telling Nigerians by Rawani:
1. "Expensive Store"

The author was clearly trying to be cunny by admitting that "the picture was taken in a supposedly expensive store". What is the rationale for determining an expensive store from a photo? I have been to many and I will tell you even the cheapest stores like Primark invest heavily in decor due to its significant impact on consumer behaviour. Take a look at the store below, that is one of the cheapest stores you can shop for clothes in the UK (Primark: average £8/item) and some Nigerians can't be caught dead shopping there, not an exaggeration. The author has no justification for that 'expensive store' claim, and is null and void.

https://www.hjmartin.co.uk/i/l/Picture23.jpg

2. Overseas Education

Again, the author displays his ignorance as to funding in UK Universities. First of all the University of Surrey charges £16,500 (N4.9m) for the entire masters programme, and accomodation is typically between £4k and £6k (N1.2m) so I wonder where he pulled out his £30,000 from? The way they ascribed 10 million to Aisha's watch? Furthermore, these costs are not one-time, the fees can be spread in 3 installments (N2.5m, N1.2m, N1.2m), and the living expenses are as accrued, so it is wicked and misleading to assume a lump sum of Ten Million Naira is required to send Zara to school.

3. Aisha's Wealth

Aisha Buhari CLEARLY has more access to disposable income than her husband, which goes further to explain the funding of other expenditure such as overseas education. Lets disregard the fact that Aisha Buhari is a internationally qualified aesthetician from the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy, Windsor, UK and Esthetique Academie Dubai and runs a successful bespoke beauty business for a second and examine her family background.

Aisha Buhari was born in Adamawa state in the family of the first Minister of defense, Mohammadu Ribadu. She was schooled in the best of Fulani traditions and cultures . She speaks English and Arabic fluently.

Mrs Buhari is currently a graduate student of International Affairs and strategic planning. She is also an alumnus of the famous Carlton Institute of London and the ACADEMY Esthetique Beauty Institute of FRANCE, Dubai, where she earned post graduate diploma in cosmetology and beauty theraphy. Following her certification in beauty and PERMANENT MAKE UP , Mrs Buhari was encouraged and supported by her husband to engage in private enterprise where she has since become an employer of labour, a mentor to all aspiring cosmetologists and a consultant to the KRCP/NNPC on skills acquisition. Mrs Buhari is a member of the United Kingdom Vocational Training and Charitable Trust (VTCT), THE International Health and Beauty Council (HBC).

Only a mischievous person with an agenda will question the financial capacity of a blue-blooded consultant, entrepreneur, and professional born into a wealthy family background with connections and a wide network, and her ability to raise critical funds (like she did again for the campaign) for a pressing humanitarian need, in the face of the irresponsibility of the presiding government at the time.

PoliticsRe: Alison-madueke Undergoing Treatment In London (must Read) by Rawani: 7:00am On Jun 07, 2015
In 2006, a US Department of Justice (DOJ) study found that out of every 10,000 incarcerated women, 831 had cancer, of those, 91 of every 10,000 women behind bars reported having had or currently having breast cancer. Given that 114,979 women were behind bars at the end of 2009, this would mean that over 1,000 women have had or currently have breast cancer.

Techniques and facilities therefore exist, for carefully and effectively managing cancer in prison if a corrupt criminal is prosecuted and sentenced for their crimes. I wish Diezani a very quick recovery.
