Granted, the accounts were audited, but the services of a forensic accountant will put this case to rest. |

This is exactly why they cannot be taken seriously. An organization that has its mission explicitly stated in its name only exposes itself to ridicule by requesting for the release of a convicted killer. If this organization is the LNC navigator, then I can only laugh. However electoral offences were committed, electoral laws were broken, an elections tribunal has been constituted, and a President that upholds the rule of law is about to be sworn in. Add a vindictive Ameachi and that would make an interesting cocktail you would agree, I therefore don't see your assertions seeing the light of day at this bar. |

The entire world witnessed the lawlessness, impunity and bloodletting that characterized the Rivers State elections, which were roundly condemned. Nigerians should resist the urge to defend lawlessness because of perceived kinship, because when the chips are down, these politicians will sacrifice you as one of the masses that were unfortunately cut down in their pursuit of democracy, and you end up a statistic. If the tribunal finds Wike wanting, he should be allowed to face justice, otherwise he would be profiting from the blood of the innocent. 8 Likes |

That goes without saying. The PDP instead of being a reprieve from the decades of military rule, turned out to be a civilian dictatorship of corruption and impunity. They gave us Obasanjo the corrupt, Late Yar-adua the weak, and Jonathan the clueless corrupt failure. The PDP taught us that even if you're convicted for theft in the UK, you're a guaranteed hero in Nigeria and if money is missing in Nigeria, America will know. We eagerly await the vindication of murdered Late General Azazi who famously stated that "Boko Haram is PDP, and PDP is Boko Haram". If only the corruption could make him attractive as well. Jonathan legitimized corruption and shielded convicted thieves, to the detriment of his region that can now only boast of looters, bunkerers, militants and thugs as their political and economic leaders. Is it a coincidence that this awareness was suddenly kindled upon Jonathan's loss? If GEJ had won and the SS continued to rule for a total of 10 years, add 8 years SW rule, do you realize the North (3 geo-political zones) would have ruled for only 2 years out of the 20 years of our democracy (1999-2019)? If the focus is on good governance which GMB espouses you worries about the ethnicity of elected officials would not be your primary concern. 7 Likes |

I support this move whole-heartedly. The SS has been plagued by bad leadership which has seen their true agitations being discredited as consequence of their criminal mismanagement of the region's allocations and several interventions like the NDDC, 13% derivation, ecological fund etc. The SS should be carried along in this administration. This sentiment is not alien to most northerners either, our dear General will work better in a more united Nigeria. |

GEJ promised OBJ he was not going to seek a second term, a commitment which he publicly voiced at a campaign rally. Against that background and aside from the fact that he is a constituent member of the council and has every basis to be present there, Baba must have been there to smile in the face of a defeated Jonathan who failed to make his word his bond. |

Ed Miliband has announced his resignation as leader of the Labour Party after a disastrous election defeat which saw the Conservatives win a majority. He made the announcement shortly after noon to a room full of supporters, saying solemnly: "This is not the speech I wanted to give today because I believe that Britain needed a Labour government. "I still do but the public voted otherwise last night. "I am tendering my resignation taking effect after this afternoon's commemoration of VE-Day. "I want to do so straight away because the party needs an open debate about the right way forward without constraint." Mr Miliband says he phoned David Cameron earlier to congratulate him on his victory. He then told the audience: "I take absolute and total responsibility for this result." Harriet Harman will take over the role temporarily, but says she will step down as deputy leader when the new leader is chosen.

Unlike the presidential system, parliamentary systems have a built-in mechanism that allows for the easy removal of a lousy leader, who can be removed easily in three legal ways: 1) vote of confidence; 2) removal by the party; 3) removal by the Head-of-State. Compare this with the presidential system wherein the only legal recourse is through the very difficult process of impeachment, which rarely succeeds, leaving citizens with the option of either waiting until the end of the term or forcefully removing the leader through a risky revolution or coup d'etat.
