M0GIDI: I agree with some of the @OP's sentiments but strongly disagree on their source of funding. My own research tells me boko haram rely on their founding fathers for funding.
As you already know Buhari founded this movement to checkmate the FG, he gets his funding from other Islamist fundamentalist around the world.

Don't be deceived, the only mineral the North has looks more like 7UP, there's nothing in that barren land, why do you think they panic whenever the issue of dissolution is discussed?

Ribadu, once a promising politician has ruined himself and will now be associated with disloyalty, greed and mistrust...effectively rubbishing his political career from now on. How he was so silly not to see the trap befuddles me, he knows them too well from his stint as the anti-corruption czar, but he was too blinded by ambition to see clearly.

If not for the security risk, these patriotic Nigerians should be given arms because the BH they are going to face today is more deadly than the one they tackled before. However, their modus operandi characteristically is the use of strategic means to identifiy and apprehend insurgents, as against the use of brute force so I am confident of their relative success. Good Luck and God Bless.
Politics › Super Civilian JTF Emerges In Borno by Rawani(op): 10:40pm On Sep 04, 2014
VIGILANTES, RETIRED SOLDIERS VOW TO CONFRONT BOKO HARAM

Nearly 10,000 people, including youth vigilantes, local hunters, retired military, police and para-military operatives, artisans and petty traders today vowed to confront Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State.

They resolved to use dane guns, sticks, bows and arrows to confront the insurgents as it came in the wake of emerging reports of Nigerian soldiers retreating from the war front as a result of alleged superior powers of the insurgents.

Of recent, the insurgents have taken over many towns and villages in Borno State, including Gwoza, Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa, Bama, Banki and many others.

Reports suggest that Boko Haram insurgents are also perfecting plans to attack the state capital, prompting the resolve of the people to rise against the move.

The volunteers gathered at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri today, before they proceeded to the Palace of the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi where they sought for his blessings ahead of the operation.

They said they are ready to enter the infamous Sambisa Forest and also go to all captured towns in order to reclaim them.

The state Coordinator of the Civilian JTF, Mallam Abba Aji Kalli said they were at the Shehu's palace to seek for his blessings and fatherly advice.

He told the Shehu to beg the Federal Government to provide them arms and logistic support so that they can protect themselves and vulnerable citizens.

Speaking to journalists later, he said, “The various groups you see here have vowed to go after the Boko Haram insurgents even if we are not well armed. We are optimistic that with our Gora (Sticks in Hausa) and other local arms, we would raid all terrorists’ hideouts and kill them when given permission by the federal government.
“We have done this before when Maiduguri was a theatre of mindless killings by the Boko Haram, we chased them out of the town but they have regrouped in the bushes and are now attacking people.

Politics › Re: Rochas/kwankwaso Ticket by Rawani: 12:44pm On Sep 04, 2014
onlysose: why did you say Rochas is lacking ?
Rochas lacks leadership experience, and cannot garner the followership needed for the APC to win elections. We know politics is a game of numbers, the entire North including NC, ,and a good chunk of the SW will overwhelmingly vote Jonathan, especially as Rochas is not as popular in the NC as he is further north.

victorels: Sorry I got you confused. I never said the SE are the sponsors but posed a question in regard to your comment on ambition.

The boko haram mentioned Ihejirika and Sheriff in the Australian Report. If he mentioned all the sponsors and the sabotuers in Government, What then? The end of the jihad?

Since you said the Jihadist would clear every obstacle on their way to achieve their objective, how do you think that indicating its sponsors would help them succeed? Or are they indicating the obstacles or those that have pained them?

Politics › Re: No, Northerners Are Not Parasites. by Rawani:
DecemberIV: North-west and North-central, with well-watered stretches of land area, account for 90 per cent of crop production; South-south, with access to coastal oil and gas deposits, accounts for 91.5 per cent of oil production; South-west, with the historic ports of Lagos and lucrative land borders, account for 60 per cent of trading and commercial activities, and North-central and South-south combine to contribute another 30 per cent of this. The remaining two regions, the semi-arid North-east with immense metal ores, and the landlocked South-east with immense coal deposits, are marginalised from the existing growth processes.

The South-west gross regional output grew the most in 2012 with an absolute nominal increase of N1.4 trillion (or 21.8% nominal growth), followed by the North-west with N1 trillion (16.38%), and North-central with N800 billion (14.27%). These are to be compared to regional output increases of N123 billion (10.89%) in the South-east and N100 billion (8.19%) in the North-east.
Owing to a slight dip in oil price in 2012 after growing impressively in the preceding three years, oil-dominated South-south recorded a slight decline of about N268.9 billion (-1.69%) in regional output in 2012.

If Dr. Davis was not working for the presidency as claimed, why did Ali Modu Sherriff in his statement yesterday criticise him for revealing his findings on TV instead of submitting it to the President? What about the military aircraft alleged to have been given to him by Jonathan? Under the past administration, who mandated and led him to the militants? Can Asari Dokubo claim to not know Dr. Stephen Davies?

Agriculture › Re: Fish, Rice Imports Drop By 80% by Rawani: 6:35am On Sep 04, 2014
Sincere9gerian: The so called terminal operators should wake up and smell the coffin. The ports are for imports AND exports and not just for imports. We also need to create JOBS for our people.

Few days ago, I bought well milled, stone free, full bag (50 kg) Abakiliki rice for only N7,200 at Ogbete market. I couldn't believe it when someone told me about it initially until I gave him money to buy it just to confirm.

Likewise, the Nigeria milled Ebony rice, Stallione rice and others are taking over the rice market in Enugu.

Smuggling is definitely a problem because of our mostly ineffective custom officials but as local capacity grows, smuggling will become increasingly less profitable and gradually disappear just like is happening with rice.
Nigeria has a huge rice sector capable of earning $9 billion, this cannot be achieved without the present restrictions on importations and i agree they should be maintained. Irrigation however is a big issue with rice production as the major problem rice millers in Abakaliki are facing is that they do not produce because there is no irrigation facility in the whole of Ebonyi State. Rice Mills like Stallion which you mentioned have to source their crop from collection centres in the far rice producing states in the northern part of the country, adding transportation costs and other logistics to the final cost. The 'Fadama' irrigation programmes established in the some northern states by past administrations contributed greatly to our overall rice production figures as they provide the crop for these mills and similar efforts should be made by the current administration to make similar efforts so we can be able to fully exploit our potential.

Gbawe: My hunch is that Davis, an independent contractor, spoke at the bidding of the President
I find it interesting that you opined that the negotiator might be speaking on the bidding of the President because as much as i detest his leadership style and incompetence, he seems to be a good man who has been cornered by high-level wickedness and conspiracy in the Presidency by ill advisers/ethnic warlords like Edwin Clark and Dokubo, as well as within the ruling party. I find it difficult, though possible, to believe that Dr. Davies would independently compromise his professional relationship with the Presidency and his personal reputation, to make false accusations before informing Jonathan. Simply unlikely.

olu4life: 13volts u are so right. Once said it on NL a year ago. On getting to Kebbi for NYSC last 2years I learnt this. I will say it again, Hausas are the nicest set of Nigerians we have. Fulanis are just on the fence. But Kanuris are the major problem of the North; you dare not step on the Kanuris.
We in South and West classify everyone in North as Hausas which is very bad. Check Google for history of Kanuris and the part they are found. U will discover they are the boko areas. At this point I rest my case.
How were you able to distinguish the Hausa's from the Fulani?
Politics › Re: Your View On The Australian's Report!!! Make Your Case!!! by Rawani: 4:48am On Sep 04, 2014
victorels: I am back from my thought.

It then means that Boko Haram or the Jihadist are sponsored by an external forces since they do not take advice or instructions or support from those that would be direct benefactors should they succeed.

If I am correct, who then are the sponsors of this people? The south east that are struggling to survive?
Nobody has mentioned the South East. We should absolve ourselves of this clannish mentality, one S/Easterner was indicted and we hope he is investigated. This thought pattern is the same reason why some people think northerners are in support of BH. Only when a majority of S/easterners are indicted for sponsoring terror can such a sweeping generalization be made.

Should they succeed, the only beneficiaries are themselves and other extremists, but on their journey to success, it is their sponsors that benefit the most. Therefore while i agree they have external support, there is a lot of internal sabotage for selfish gain by their sponsors.
