No, the lynchers were protected because of politics. I remember even Atiku deleted his tweet condemning the incident. If the government were serious about catching her killers they would have done so, because some of their faces was captured on camera.

In any case it was a very tragic incident, I can't imagine the horror she went through in her final moments. And if there is any justice in this life or the next, I hope she gets it in full.

We are talking about the law here, not the actions of some violent individuals. Even before the establishment of Shari'a courts, mob killings on accusations of blasphemy have been happening, back in the 80's.

The crux of the mater is that there is no state in Nigeria that is governed by Shari'a. All states have a democratically elected government and law makers which make laws according to the constitution, not the Shari'a of Islam.

The Shari'a courts were established on customary laws to attend the personal matters such as inheritance and divorce for Muslims who choose to do so. Is the law perfect? Obviously not. But that is thier problem.

If you can't understand this, I don't know how to help you.

For the fact that no Shari'a court has sanctioned anyone to death doesn't mean that Muslims don't already know that according to Shari'a they can kill for blasphemy.

In their knowledge and by what their clerics have told them, Shari'a prescribes death for blasphemy and Shari'a is in effect in their states.

They are carrying out a law that is not in the constitution but is still a law. A law that is derived from the Quran and Hadiths. A law they know FROM the Quran and not from the Nigerian body of laws.

No Shari'a court has ever sentenced anyone to death. The constitution does not give them the power to do so. All criminal cases go straight to federal or state high courts. Go and study the constitution.

You said people are being "lynched" in the street. Even before Shari'a law, people have been lynching each other, not just in the North. I grew up in warri and I can't count the number of times I have seen people lynched to death on accusations of things like witchcraft or theft.

No Shari'a court in Nigeria has ever beheaded or stoned anyone to death. Moreover, criminal cases like rape and murder are not tried in Shari'a courts, they go straight to a state or federal high court.

But this time around he is right. If states with 98% Muslim population decide to adopt Shari'a for rulings on social issues such as divorce, marriages, inheritance etc. I don't see how that is a problem.

Mind you, the Shari'a law provision is subordinate to the constitution of Nigeria. Even the highest Shari'a court ranks lower than state high courts. Moreover, A non-Muslim cannot be compelled to submit to a Shari’a court.

So I honestly don't see what all the fuss on Shari'a law is about. According to the Constitution, Nigeria is a secular state (Section 10 prohibits adoption of a state religion).

The battle of Badr was a direct result of Muslims intercepting the caravan of Abu-suffyan (who was a pagan at the time) returning from Syria. Prophet Muhammad ordered them to do this knowing it would force the Quraish to retaliate and they did, exactly what he wanted.

The battle of Khandaq was a reprisal attack by the Quraish, for what happened in both Badr and Uhud. They lost a lot of their leaders in both wars.

As for fatahu Makkah, prophet Muhammad did it because he could. He has amassed a significant army, strong alliances and the Arab tribes were in disarray. He saw an opportunity and he took it using the excuse that the Quraish broke the treaty of huddaibiyya. But like I said, he only did it because he could bully his way into the city, since he had superior military strength.

This is a fact, I know as a devout Muslim you can't stand it, I was once like you.

By the way what about the wars the sahabas and their descendants continued with in Persia, Damascus, Jerusalem, North Africa and even here in Nigeria, did we all go and look for their trouble.

I studied Tafsir, tauheed, akhdari, qawa'id, ishmawi, izziyya, risala and muwatta'i Malik.

I am more knowledgeable than 75-80% Muslims in Nigeria, at least.
