So now im now a friend 2 d akuyinli's and a bad citizen of naija cos i simply said d wedin had notin 2 do wit d nations ecönomy, wel like i said earlier,u guys shld get over it! It has hapnd, she is nw hapily maried.
@Adahna, you don't get it, do you? In which country in this world do you see public officers showing such flamboyance with so much impunity. Its nothing personal and it has nothing to do with the daughter getting married but her mother is a public officer and there's a lot going on in the Nigerian economy right now, a show-off of affluence on live TV with public office holders as invitees is just not right, lots of Nigerians lose their objectivity in sentiments, the wedding has happened and she is happily married now (good for her). But this has nothing to with the bride, its about DORA AKUNYILI's choices.

just be sure the school is accredited by the appropriate authorities , there are a number of fluke and unauthorised institutions running in the UK, be very sure, i think very few UK online programmes are accredited i.e university of london, university of liverpool smiley

If you like vampire series. . .you should try Angel, Blood ties, Buffy. . .and watching out for the new one on the CW - Vampire Diaries[/color]

btw, the "lost" series is really becoming irritating and confusing these days, they should just end it in this season 5, with the whole time travel, people waking up from the dead and seeing people that were never on the island surface after 5 seasons, i think the writer has run out of ideas, they should just end it now before they lose all their glory.

since moonlight, i became crazy about vampire series but stupid CBS stopped it after season 2, alex loughlin is so hot, his smile almost makes me pass out except I have to keep watching, lol, true blood is the only recent sensible replacement though the picture quality is quite shady but its okay!

I so totally agree with you, public officers must show some restraint please, I dont think there's anything wrong in marrying a foreigner, its a matter of personal choices and preferences and it has nothing to do with rebranding, or inferiority complex. AIT is definitely not airing it for free and even if they did offer to do so, dora should have refused knowing her position and the level of poverty in nigeria, its a slap on the faces on the nigerian people who are unemployed, impoverished and have been subjected to poor service delivery, our money, oil money, tax payers money angry
RomanceRe: Should Age Be An Obstacle Between Two Lovers? by Rebarobyn: 6:38pm On Jul 11, 2009
Love knows no bounds, but be sure to know the guy's intentions, most guys that age love younger girls (but there are always exceptions), also prepare your minds for societal and family tussles, no one is going to accept it in the Nigerian society, there is nothing wrong with it if its genuine but our society has a very strong hold on our decisions. more important, be sure its worth all the trouble, you deserve all the happiness in the world!
RomanceRe: Obama Caught In The Act! by Rebarobyn: 6:27pm On Jul 11, 2009
hillarious, the pictures are fake and even if they were real, people stare at things at times and their minds are elsewhere so lets cut them some slack,
FamilyRe: Do A Wife's Earnings Belong To Her Husband? by Rebarobyn: 6:16pm On Jul 11, 2009
Money matters can be very tricky even with couples, this question is not a yes or no matter, I'd say it depends on the nature of the relationship. Some couples are very close and can even go as far as operating joint accounts while some couples are married but yet so far apart and would not even know about each others' salaries. One thing I however believe is that no one should be forced against their will. If a woman decides not to let her husband know about her earnings or give it to him, she would have her reasons, the guy might be a spendthrift, a drunkard, a gambler or he might be very sensitive to what she earns as in getting edgy about her earning as much or more than he does (as many 9ja men are).

About the verse "a man and his wife becoming one", why does it have to be interpreted as relating to moneyhuh I think it has more to do with faithfulness, love and loyalty, I also think a man should respect himself as the head of the home by providing for the family and not trying to manage or spend the woman's money for her, its her call to spend it on the family and I believe most Nigerian women bear a lot of burden in the home. Men are so quick to say they are the head of the home but when it comes to responsibilities, they are always ready to share it with the woman, that's very selfish and hypocritical!
RomanceRe: Am In Trouble, I Dont Know My Guy's Mind Right Now by Rebarobyn: 5:58pm On Jul 11, 2009
Awowom, I'm sorry but I must just tell you the truth, what you fear most will eventually happen, its just a question of when.

This is why most ladies end up being the victim because we fear rejection. I think everyone deserves the best, a man that loves and respects you. If you are with a man that doesn't show you love and respect, then have an honest chat with him and if he ends the relationship, so be it, I don't even see any reason why you should wait for him to end it, if you are unhappy, leave him and move on, there's another man out there who is worth it. Its a painful decision but it will be worth it in the end.

I must also say that if you put up with this guy and even marry him, you risk many things, asides the heartbreak and unhappiness, what if he infects you with STDs or HIV or he keeps a mistress with kids out there, my dear, its not worth it, take that bold step, confront him and move on, HE DOES NOT LOVE YOU ANYMORE AND HE HAS ANOTHER GIRL OUT THERE!
EventsRe: Is N75,000 Not Too Much For A Wedding Gown? by Rebarobyn: 12:53am On Jul 10, 2009
I think Nigerians, especially our women, love to live above their means, my friend rented a wedding gown from one of the shops in Ikeja two months ago for N20,000 (for 3 days) and she was absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day, she lives in Abuja, they even made airport arrangements for the sending and returning of the gown to lagos. If you cannot afford an expensive brand new gown, hire one, they are properly dry-cleaned after use, its no big deal, they are practically worthless after the wedding, your kids wont even wear them cos it wont be trendy in their time. I know many brides who now want to sell their gowns but no one is interested or the price they want to pay is ridiculous. I am hiring one for my wedding and I don't see anything wrong with that, no one is even gonna know unless you tell them, besides there are other things to use money for, I agree you hair + accessories + make up is what really brings out the beauty, hmmm, make-up, that's a story for another day, those make-up artists are just rip-offs, please 100k for make-up on trad and wedding day just for the bride, I just think Nigerians like to show off by buying expensive stuff and telling their friends that their wedding gown was vera wang and it cost 5000dollars and Tara did her make up for 100k and her accessories were from american swiss, please spare me!

TravelRe: Getting Married For The Green Card (Citizenship) by Rebarobyn: 11:26pm On Jul 09, 2009
most Nigerians are lawless and they don't care, that's why we aren't respected anywhere in the world, in the UK and USA its credit cards or 419, in SA its drugs, what the hell is wrong with us, I can't believe people would openly talk about something illegal like a green-card arranged marriage and they would be proud of it, people even give advise, are you kidding mehuhhuh, and then you blame it on the government, are we the only country experiencing unemployment and poverty in the world?? there are poorer countries in Africa that have unemployment and poverty issues like Zambia but they do not need visas to go to USA or UK because they respect themselves and they respect the law, what a big shame, I'm really embarrassed, and we don't know we are spoiling opportunities for our children to come, they wont be able to even say they are Nigerians because of what we've done to that name!
