Fhemmmy:Na so Nigeria be o! Sanusi just used them as scape-goats to score brownie points in his new job. Though it is a good development, the way Sanusi went public about it may affect these banks terribly because their customers are now panicking. EFCC should stop all these their anti-corruption hypocrisy and arrest all the governors and presidents who are still enjoying stolen money including OBJ, IBB, Gowon, that is when we will take this their propaganda seriously. P.S. --Its a shame for those insulting Soludo, what that guy did in the banking sector is unquantifiable, the consolidation process alone saved Nigerians a lot of future financial trouble and if not for him, Sanusi would not even have the chance to make this "banking watchdog move" but all of a sudden people have forgotten, very typical of humans! |
iyeayo:Your case is like 1 in 10million and you yourself will agree that its never that easy for most people. So please don't encourage him to go into that uncertainty. did you go to Australia recently or a while back? because I know quite a few people who were living in Australia and have gone back to stay in Nigeria. btw, I hear most Australians are racist, is it true? @Poster- I still urge you to stay in Nigeria or at most, apply for jobs in Greece (or Australia) online and if you get an offer you can go but if you don't, save your airfare! |
Now that we know that they didn't even trust us enough to let us have her itinerary, I hope the pro-Americans in this thread will put this case to rest. The treatment was well deserved if indeed she didn't disclose her itinerary, they couldn't have been expecting us to put everything on hold for their arrival and btw, I don't even think she's complaining. These Americans that we are trying to be polite to don't respect us one bit so why even make Hilary's visit an issue in the first place? |
sjeezy8:this is exactly my point, when obama didn't come to Nigeria, it was as if we were gonna die, we've been liberated since 1960 but we are still colonised in our minds. So what Hilary stepped foot in Nigeria and we are suddenly blessed ![]() sjeezy8:so America is safe?? what about the suicide bombings and serial killers? how many people were killed in the recent Iraqi war when the non-existent WMDs were being searched for by America, which killings are worse than the thousands of innocent civilians and chidren that were killed and even american soldiers were involved in rape and unwarranted killings? Pls stop supporting America b'cos you've lost faith in your own country, they are not saints either but I definitely don't support the undiplomatic manner in which she was received anyway. |
I agree diplomacy must be shown at face level even if all is not well. but America deserves such treatment at times, they blab so much about the flaws of other countries when they are no better. the world has worshiped that country so much that they now think they are the savior of the world, wetin she go do for naija sef? I watched her on TV yesterday when she reacted quite rudely to a question she misinterpreted during a press conference in DRC. |
To add to oneNaija's post, many threads are so uncivil, I think people just drop their manners because its a blog and no one knows them personally. The one that disgusts me the most is the religion and the tribalism, appalling is an understatement. "So called" Christians, Muslims and atheists begin to argue senselessly about who is the rapist, pedophile and who is not God, which is quite shameful for people who want to stretch hands of fellowship to others and invite them to their religion, can we at least respect each others' religions and not swear at each other even if we do not believe in the same faith? tribalism is the worst of it all because every thread, even sports, ends up in tribalism, if yaradua does something wrong, its because he has an Hausa brain, if tinubu drops yaradua's name its because he's Yoruba, if kalu gets charged with corrupt practices its because he's Igbo, can we please see people as people and not be prejudiced? These things hurt me deeply considering it comes from us the younger generation ![]() |
I have never been to a glo interview but typical questions most corporate organisations ask entry level staff include: tell us about yourself- you'll do a brief summary of your background, education, work experience, personal aspirations and goals (this question is mostly to test your eloquence, your composure and ability to stay on track and not digress from the question, it is generally to look at the way you talk and comport yourself. However, they may ask further questions on things you've said at this stage that interests them) why do you want to with this organisation (glo)- is it the fact that it is a prestigious world class org., it is a challenging place to work, here you have an opportunity to praise glo as an org, but don't over-do it, you'll appear like a sycophant. how do you think you can add value to us?---here you have to sell yourself, I am a broad minded person, I have the ability to see the bigger picture, I am a very fast learner and I easily adapt to change and this is what orgs. need in these days of fast changing economies and businesses etc.---pls know what you are saying o, don't shoot yourself in the foot! have you ever had to work in a team, tell us about your role and achievements in the team?---make sure you focus on the team, don't blow your own trumpets, you will appear like you are not a team player. just say what your team achieved and how you contributed! they can also ask you about the project you did in University?----an overview and what your results were ----they want to know if you bought your way through university. They can ask you very personal questions about your family (which in most cases is to probe your sense of responsibility)? make them believe you love your family and they've been very supportive of you. If you've worked before, they'll definitely ask you about where you've worked and what job tasks you performed there and your achievements, awards etc?, don't lie about what you've not achieved, be truthful they'll also ask you why you left your former employer? the first rule - never bad-mouth your former employer!, you can say the job is not as challenging as you thought it would be, say you want to work in a place where you'll grow in knowledge, intellectually and career wise. Finally they'll ask you--do you have any questions for us? I'd advise you not to say no, ask intelligent questions like---if you get employed, will glo at some point allow you to further your studies?? or you can ask about a new propaganda of glo and how the company intends to retain and attract new customers. but if you aren't confident of asking a question, don't bother! I hope this helps, all the best! |
amosexy:are those smileys forming a gun for the errors in the guy's english? |
ekpan:lol ![]() |
Deep Soul:haha, i think bollywood sounds better for sweet and sour romance, lol |
Dear Ex, knowing you had its good memories but dumping you was worth it because the long distance thing wasn't working and I was the only one making all the effort to keep in touch. I have found solace in the fact that my new man is always there for me and I'm sure he loves me as much as I love him! |
Deep Soul:I feel your pain, the world is tough enough but yet its tougher for women, I hope this one works out in the end. btw, on a lighter note, do you know this story would make a blockbuster in nollywood? ![]() |
firstly, what did you study and what were your grades like? maybe that's one reason why you've not been shortlisted or are you being picky with the organizations you apply to? when did you start applying for jobs? it takes a while to shortlist at times and it may help having insiders in the organizations to keep you posted. You need to also understand that because of the economic problems, most organizations all around the world have put recruiting on hold in order to cut expenses so I can assure you that you'll probably face the same problem in the UK. I think the question you should be asking yourself is where you want to be on the long run. If you want to be in Nigeria, I think its worth the wait, I believe the embargo on employment by organizations will be lifted soon, you should be on your toes checking job ads especially in the guardian newspapers and job blogs. I don't think the job situation is any better in the UK right now. |
eniolape:what did the minister of health do about swine flu? |
is it possible for someone who has so many companies listed on the stock exchange to become president of the same exchange, chei, anything is possible in this our Nigeria. anyway, no need to be suspicious sha, I think he's good at what he does so I guess we could give him a chance but who's going to be watching him now? |
GEW:I don't get it, why does this oluwole still exist? the govt has known for ages that most document fraud and forgery are perpetrated here, why is it so difficult to rid Nigeria of these "geniuses-turned-evil" or find some positive use for them? |
Its a lie, no one would execute you for being an illegal immigrant, if its true then they must have been caught with drugs or something |
Recognise:until we rid ourselves of the selfish mentality that those who get duped are stupid and deal with the perpetrators, we will never clear our image in this country, it will only get worse. Not all those who get defrauded are greedy, some of them only try to be helpful, its unfortunate we turn around and call them fools! |
alfchye:those are movies o, in real life, most other countries are simpler than we are. Do you know we Nigerians are known for flamboyance and reckless spending in the UK, America and even in South Africa down there. It is in our blood, we like to show off and this is because most Nigerians only respect and value the rich, they don't care where you get the money from. Its just a vicious cycle. A typical example is this aso-ebi thing, you see people who earn N20,000 per month buying aso-ebi for N40,000 and going hungry for the next two months. I'm just so glad most of our banks don't give out soft-loans otherwise most Nigerians will be in serious debt. |
so this story hasn't finished since that day?? |
regaltopax:haha, I dont pray to experience it too o, thank you for the selfless prayer, lol |
Life in Nigeria is fake, not just Abuja, I think Lagosians are even worse. We just like to live above our means and prove what is not so its not an Abuja thing, its a 9ja thing |
okay, now I'm officially scared |
this is the time the govt needs to act and make sure they are well prepared to manage it. It can be contacted by contact with infected persons or even by touching infected surfaces. The south african guy who died passed away after experiencing major symptoms in less than 24hrs, he had been treated for normal flu and cold and they thought he had pneumonia. and as we know, Nigerians travel a lot, we don't even have scanners to detect it at the airport, so na serious matter o, its not when people start dying that we will now be running helter skelter, we should start distributing the drugs and educating people on the symptoms. please read below for your own information: H1N1 flu and you! The H1N1 virus (initially referred to as “swine flu”) is a new influenza virus causing people to become ill. It was first detected in humans in April 2009 in the United States. Other countries have since reported people sick with the virus – many dying from it. The virus is spreading from person to person, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread. Please take note of the points below to protect yourselves. Why is this new H1N1 virus sometimes called “swine ‘flu”? This virus was originally referred to as “swine ‘flu” because laboratory tests showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. However, further studies have shown that the new virus is very different from that normally found in North American pigs. It has two genes from flu viruses normally found in pigs in Europe and Asia, but also has an avian and human gene component. Scientists call this a “quadruple reassortant” virus. Is this new H1N1 virus contagious? It has been determined that the new H1N1 virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. However, at this time, it is not known how easily the virus spreads between people. What are the signs and symptoms of this virus in people? The symptoms of this new influenza H1N1 virus in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, coughing, a sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with this virus have also reported diarrhoea and vomiting. Also, like seasonal flu, severe illnesses and death have occurred as a result of illness associated with this virus. Can I become infected with this new H1N1 virus from eating or preparing pork? No. H1N1 viruses are not spread by food. You therefore cannot get this new HIN1 virus from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork products is safe. What should I do to keep from getting the flu? Firstly and most importantly: wash your hands. Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Try not to touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Are there medicines to treat infection with this new virus? Yes. The South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) recommends the use of oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with these new influenza A (H1N1) viruses. Antiviral drugs are prescription medicines (pills, liquid or an inhaler) that fight against the flu by keeping flu viruses from reproducing in your body. If you get sick, antiviral drugs can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster. They may also prevent serious flu complications. During the current outbreak, the priority use for influenza antiviral drugs during is to treat severe influenza illness. How long can an infected person spread this virus to others? At the current time, NICD believes that this virus has the same properties in terms of spread as seasonal flu viruses. With seasonal flu, studies have shown that people may be contagious from one day before they develop symptoms to up to seven days after they get sick. Children, especially younger children, might potentially be contagious for longer periods. What surfaces are most likely to be sources of contamination? Germs can be spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth. Droplets from a cough or sneeze of an infected person move through the air. Germs can be spread when a person touches respiratory droplets from another person on a surface like a desk, for example, and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose before washing their hands. What can I do to protect myself from getting sick? There is no vaccine available right now to protect against this new H1N1 virus. However, you can take these everyday steps to protect your health: · Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and then throw the used tissue in the wastepaper basket. · Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you have coughed or sneezed. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. · Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way. · Try to avoid close contact with sick people. · If you are sick, stay home for seven days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep you from infecting others and spreading the virus further. Other important actions that you can take are: Be prepared in case you become ill and need to stay home for a week or so; a supply of over-the-counter medicines, alcohol-based hand rubs, tissues and other related items might be useful and help avoid the need to make trips out in public while you are sick and contagious. What is the best technique for washing my hands to avoid getting the flu? Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand cleaner. We recommend that you wash your hands for 15 to 20 seconds when using soap and warm water. When soap and water are not available, alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers may be used. You can find them in most supermarkets and pharmacies. If using gel, rub your hands until the gel is dry. The gel doesn't need water to work; the alcohol in it kills the germs on your hands. What should I do if I get sick? If you live in areas where H1N1 influenza cases have been identified and you become ill with influenza-like symptoms, including fever, body aches, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, or vomiting or diarrhoea, you should contact your general practitioner, particularly if you are worried about your symptoms. Your doctor will determine whether influenza testing or treatment is needed. If you are sick, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to avoid spreading your illness to others. If your child becomes ill and experiences any of the following symptoms, seek emergency medical care: * Fast breathing or difficulty in breathing * Bluish or gray skin colour * Not drinking enough fluids * Difficult to wake or not interacting * Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held * Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough * Fever with a rash. In adults, emergency warning signs that indicate urgent medical attention include: * Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath * Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen * Sudden dizziness * Confusion * Severe or persistent vomiting. |
jumobi1:If the Govt. agrees, we will never see the end of militancy in Nigeria, they want money for the arms?? like the money wasn't stolen by some ex-govt person who was/is funding them, they now want a return on their money. These people should even be grateful the govt is giving them full amnesty, do you know how many innocent people have died because of them? We all know when negotiating you must try to get as much as possible and that's what they're doing. I think amnesty is enough and if their cause was genuine in the first place, they should be focusing on what will be done for the Niger Delta people and not for them. They want three bedroom flats yeah right, the govt must build a 3-bedroom flat for every Nigerian then otherwise, we'll all take up arms and negotiate for it---do you get it? its going to bring more rebels and militants. |
If the govt agrees to exchange any amount whatsoever for those arms, I will impeach Yaradua . Was the agreement not Arms for Amnesty and focus on Niger Delta ? These guys are beginning to take Yaradua's softness for granted, what an insult! lets see what the guy will do sha. |
I use this exact model, after about a year, the remote control and the QuickPlay touch-on buttons stopped working, now I have to use it like any other regular laptop. I heard those components are not compatible with some of the windows software components, I guess you know about it, pls advise. |
