PoliticsRe: South Africa Request Nigerian Teachers by Rebarobyn: 5:59pm On Oct 24, 2009
"I must disclosed that a lot of African countries depend on us to lead in the education sector, for instance the curriculum we developed, especially in technical and vocation courses attracted many countries in the West African region

what an irony- we have a good curriculum and we have good teachers that are needed all over the world but we have a very terrible educational system, Sam Egwu just judged his tenure as minister and shot himself in the foot.

I guess this is a personal decision for the teachers- if they think the pay is worth it and the South Africa govt guarantees their safety, they should give it a thought after all patriotism isn't gonna pay the bills.
TravelRe: Safe To Travel To Nigeria This Christmas? by Rebarobyn: 5:42pm On Oct 24, 2009
I actually meant - why do igbo people go to the village even when their immediate families live in the city centers like lagos? and the reason why I mentioned this is because people are more likely to be kidnapped when they are in areas where there is less security (i.e. the village or small towns).

In any case, the ball is in your court, if you really have to come home and you can afford to hire an escort, please do so for your own safety. but also bear in mind that recently the police force recalled all its officers that were not assigned to core police functions (such as those guarding the houses of civilians, escorts) so I would suggest you make concrete plans before coming. I hope you find this helpful.

I think its a honest move by nollywood and I hope they use it wisely in expanding their opportunities and get us at the centre-stage of world entertainment.

tribalism=ignorance

if you like whine from now till tomorrow about the yoruba people, out here we are all Nigerians, no one knows us by tribe so the earlier you grow up and out of your tribal sentiments the better for you, because I can tell you that Igbos dominate the retail drug business but in all honesty we all know that there are lots of honest and hardworking igbo people so no need for stereotyping, pls grow up!

lol, good for you, its not just south africa o, even in the UK and USA and Europe, many people would rather stay there in the name of "I am abroad" than work harder and honestly at home, there is no place in this world where there is no hardship, but if you tell our naija people they will think you are an enemy of progress,
TravelRe: Safe To Travel To Nigeria This Christmas? by Rebarobyn: 3:42pm On Oct 24, 2009
the rate of kidnapping is really scary these days, its just like the demon of kidnapping was unleashed on Nigeria this year,

if you think it is unsafe in your hometown, I think you should just stay in the city where there is more security or don't bother coming, its not worth the risk honestly, btw, why do Igbo people have to always go home during Xmas? a lot of things happen but people cant seem to just stay away,

Foreign AffairsRe: Why Nigerians Don't Tap Into South African Market? by Rebarobyn: 3:37pm On Sep 24, 2009
true, it gives me great concern how the SA people complain about illegal immigrants and crime being committed by "foreigners" and your govt is not doing anything about it, i.e. the drug retailers- we know SAPS arrests them everyday but somehow they still get released because their files or evidence goes missing, why? its simple, the SA law enforcers- SAPS, immigration, border patrol etc are corrupt. Unless SA purges its law enforcement of corruption, illegal immigrants will continue to flood your country and drug business will flourish.

This thread is not about Nigeria being a small brother or SA being a big brother, neither is it about Nigeria being overrated. It is about the reasons why Nigerians don't tap into the SA market. it is people like you that start all these SA-Nigeria arguments.

You said SA peeps know how to bring Nigerians to the earth, I'm in shock lipsrsealed, please enlighten me by telling me howhuh

@ Rebarobyn

No one is defending Nigeria, i know there are Nigerians committing crimes in South Africa but this is not peculiar to Nigerians. Your claim of 2 million Nigerians in SA is laughable, and where did u get that from. How did Nigeria dominate the drug trade in South Africa? That is a big fat lie. Does Nigeria also dominate the drug market in Mexico? Don’t be fooled my dear, South Africans are the once doing drugs with few foreigners among them just the way it is in every drug zone.

They are intimidated by the whites and you know Intimidation is next to loyalty. They consider themselves free because they can now join the whites in their play grounds, take their kids to traditional white school and shop in a white supermarket, this is where insecurity comes in; they feel other Africans are trying to come take their place (Next to the whites). When I say South Africans, I mean the blacks.

I guess this explains the protest where they killed black Africans for taking their jobs; you can imagine that. Think if that can ever happen in Naija
Mr. man, you are just a clown grin, did you even read this thread before jumping? I never mentioned anything about anyone defending Nigeria, I never said anything about Nigerians being the only criminals in SA, I never even came up with the 2million stats, I was only commenting on what someone had said that only 40000 Nigerians were legal amongst the 2million Nigerian population in SA.

don't even say what you dont know cos I can tell you don't know zap. Nigerians, precisely my igbo brothers, dominate the retail drug market in SA (this is not in any way prejudice towards igbos and I am not saying there are no honest igbos in SA), but this is something I am 200% sure of. In the city centers, you see them roaming around in twos and threes waiting for junkies who need a quick fix. They have even added pimping to the biz, they keep young SA girls under their roofs and love-vendor them out to customers, at the same time, they get the girls addicted to drugs so that they will use their entire income to buy drugs from them, at the end, these girls are forever indebted to them cos they cant foot their drug bills, so they remain the guys' personal properties cos they are addicts and they need income to buy drugs. You'll have no idea of what some 9ja peeps in SA do until you stay there.
EventsRe: Wedding Receptions Venues In Lagos by Rebarobyn: 12:14pm On Sep 19, 2009
I was just passing by this thread and I saw all the prices of these venues, what the hell shocked huh how in the world do you pay up to 2m for a venue? and close to 10000 per head for food and drinkshuh lagos is such a fake place for fake people, it is because of status and forming of levels that these hotels and venues have hiked prices, why would you even want 2000 guests in the first place. in abuja you'll get a very decent hotel venue for even less than 100k and it'll seat at least 100-120 people, neat and secured gardens/parks for no more than 40k, lagos is just ridiculously expensive!!!
Christianity EtcRe: Whats Your Opinion About Jesus, The Christian God by Rebarobyn: 2:40am On Sep 19, 2009
Abuzola:
why don't you defend your jesus, can god ever die ? whether you like it or not jesus is a muslim
I don't need to defend him or get into any argument about him, he is what he is irrespective of anyone's opinion. all these questions about God dying etc, there's no point explaining anything to you because you have read the entire bible but yet you don't understand, it is beyond normal human comprehension, it takes an inner conviction. so i can explain from now till next year, it won't change anything about what you think and I know this because I read a lot of your threads which are solely aimed at defaming christianity.

p.s.   Jesus is not a muslim. You are the one living the illusion that you are followers of Jesus. The person who you guys are assuming is Jesus is Isa, but he was never even called Jesus in the Quran so stop trying to fit islam into christianity, it is not the same thing. abi which kain by force marriage be dis?
Christianity EtcRe: Whats Your Opinion About Jesus, The Christian God by Rebarobyn: 12:18am On Sep 19, 2009
@abuzola
I see you converting to Christianity very soon because I can't understand your obsession with the christian faith. 90% of your threads are concerning the christian faith and in most of it, you try to compare the bible and the quran or you try to fit Jesus into the quran and explain how christians/the bible are wrong and the worst sinners and how muslims are saints and also followers of Jesus. Islam and christianity are two different faiths and I'm still trying to understand why you find the need in your heart to compare them. you are even supposed to be fasting this period, why don't you face your faith and your relationship with your God rather than trying to mind other people's faiths and starting arguments over unnecessary things?? whether you like it or not, just as you cannot accept the christian way of life, christians also cannot accept Islam, so stop trying to cause religious tension amongst nairalanders.

It's no secret that Nigerians dominate the drug trade in South Africa. Why so defensive? Are you totally oblivious to the news that comes from there?? One thing stopping Nigerians from opening businesses there is the fact that most are illegal immigrants. I once read there are an estimated 2 million Nigerians there, but only 40,000 are legal. shocked shocked shocked
that's definitely false, there aren't even 1million Nigerians in SA and though I agree that a significant number (especially the drug lords) have expired papers, it can't be 40,000 that are legal. A lot of Nigerians also operate small businesses there but black south africans are xenophobic, lazy and envious. Once they see that your business if progressing, they either say your things are too cheap and you are stealing their customers, or you are taking away their jobs, some occasionally call the cops on you to check your papers, they even arrange for robbers to rob you or kill you, most victims are ethiopians and somalians. the chinese and indians operating businesses there are south africans by origin and so they face no victimisation.

truth be told, south africa is not a place for fellow africans to do business, they prefer white investors and get irritated by fellow africans. Haven't you heard that south africans say white visitors are "tourists and investors" while other black fellow africans are "foreigners, asylum seekers or kwere-kwere"?

Latest updates - Apparently, the SA officials had unofficially tested her before she left for berlin and the doctor advised them to withdraw her from the competition because they realised she had male hormones etc but they refused and went ahead to berlin with her. Now they are alleging racism and threatening war when they should have done the right thing in the first place, must the black man pull out the race card on every issue?
CareerThe Future Of Bank Marketers In Nigeria by Rebarobyn(op): 7:34pm On Sep 17, 2009
It is no news that anyone who studied anything can be a marketer in Nigerian banks. So many medical doctors, vets, pharmacists, lawyers etc have become marketers because commercial banks are the major employers of labour in Nigeria and their pay is very attractive.

However, the CBN shake-down on banks and the world economic recession brings a lot of concern regarding job security and the future of "marketers". Many banks have begun downsizing and retrenchments and most of the victims are marketers, this shows that no marketer is indispensable and the axe can come down on anyone anytime. What does the future hold for retrenched marketers now? a pharmacist who has not been able to practice his profession becomes jobless, where does he start from? what pharmaceutical organisation would be willing to accept him when he has no relevant experience?

Is it time for people to begin to think of their long-term careers rather than just immediate need for good pay because most marketers will get to a point in their careers where a question mark arises as to which way forward? Should people who have become bank marketers out of the need to survive start looking outside marketing and thinking of the career they've always wanted, something with a better job security or should they just go with the wind and follow their marketing path for immediate survival?
