Woman. read my post well, I wasn't shocked, rather was happy he did. Lastly I know Gbolahan too well to be thinking "church wedding" madam!
Boy. no need to get your blood boiling. your post clearly expressed surprise. Talks about "oyinbo white gown," "native wear" shows you are surprised at the combination. Maybe you don't know Gbolahan as well as you think you do. The guy you are crediting for his dressing that seemed a shock to you, I will bet a few bucks that the dude most likely did not even have much of a say in choosing his attire and I don't know him at all. tongue

honeric01:
Even though the wife ended up wearing oyinbo white gown, it seems Gbolahan stuck to his native wear.
if this is what Gbolahan did, I throway 71 salute for am.

FamilyGuys And Ladies In Your Mid To Late 20s. by red101(op): 6:38pm On Dec 25, 2014
Earlier on in life, in my teenage years, I had dreams and hopes of what my life would look like by the time I turn 25. Well, man proposes, God disposes.. my life doesn't look at all like what I had dreamed. I am partially disappointed and feel a lot less idealistic as if I lost that sense of "yeah I can do whatever I set my mind to do." How many of you feel this way? Have you accomplished what you set out to accomplish, are you on the right path to your dreams or have your goals totally changed? How did you handle or deal with it? Please share your stories because they can be encouraging.
What makes the situation worse is that now you have facebook, instagram etc and you can see how your friends seem to have perfect lives and the feeling of inadequacy begins to take hold because you start comparing yourself...
Anybody in the same boat as me?
Are you where you thought you would be? Do you still have future goals or you gave up on creating them and are now just going with the flow grin

I know but have seen alot of men wear suit irrespective...

Btw, that the men wore native still makes it more traditional than religious, and afterall, this is not the type of dress (male) the real owner of Islam wear during their own marriage. false?
but men wearing native style for nikkah is very common so that's why I clarified that it's a yoruba muslim wedding because u seemed shocked that he was wearing a native. The 'native' worn to nikkah is usually different from the one they wear to their traditional engagement. At least for yoruba muslims. In fact, what we yorubas consider to be our language, culture, attire is heavily influenced by islam long before the arrival of the europeans. what tribe/religion are you?

look at an example from a couple:
here is their traditional engagement:

not all women have a "taste for living on the edge" so when guys complain of being shorted because they are "nice" i see it as an excuse or cover-up for some other deficiency of theirs. I'm still wondering at the allegations that men who don't sleep around don't do so because they are inconfident, hypocritical or broke. Lol, as if money is needed to straff. I go tell una my story? I have never had enough money to form big boy and I never really cared but my "girlfriend" back in secondary school was claimed to be the prettiest (unsolicited info I was given).

In the polytechnic, I don't know where they ranked her because I never really cared to ask but she was hot and fine and had two dudes proposing to her when she practically moved in with me. Didn't cost me that much. I was just a gentleman that listened when they talked, picked up the tab (and I didn't bother with impressing with classy eateries and hangouts) and moved in for the kiss when I had made her good and ready for it (not that I knew what the hell I was doing then, I was just very attentive and very observant).
if you feel that because you are willing to be nice to a hot or fine girl means that you are entitled to her, you are fooling yourself.
would you date a girl simply because she was nice to you? even if you weren't attracted to her?
friendzone is the male equivalent of side-chick. it goes both ways.you will run into all sort of problems when you are chasing after the wrong person and then saying that they are "bad" when in fact, they are simply "wrong" for you.

I think a lot of 'good/decent' guys get burnt because they are trying to attract women not like them (you know the flashy flashy of this world)cheesy. A woman can be decent and still look sweet. Bitter or not, a lot of ladies do not appreciate the 'meekness' of decent guys and mistake it for 'weakness' angry

Decent guys should know the kind of women that fit into their future and go for them. Let bad men/women roll with themselves cheesy
I 100% agree with this.
I mean, if you are decent, then you should find a partner who is decent as well and on your level. the problem arises when we are looking for something elusive or something beyond our reach then of course it's going to be hard to do so and still maintain decency without resorting to corruptible games. men and women are guilty of this.

The company just wants to create sensationalism so as to attract more customers.

Christianity EtcRe: Is JESUS Really The Decendant Of King DAVID. by red101(f):
I am not a theologian but Matthew is said to be joseph's lineage and Luke lists mary's lineage. Not completely sure though. Either Jesus is within it.

timmy2409:
The implication of a non-biological connection to David would be that the scriptural prophecies concerning the Messiah weren't exactly fulfilled. It would also mean that Paul was wrong when he said in Romans 1:3 "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;"
.
Jesus is the descendant of David in the flesh but the son of God according to the spirit. Verse 3 and 4 go together and are part of the same sentence.

When Paul talks about "the flesh" it is referring to the human point of view or something that contradicts the holy spirit or something in contrast to the holy spirit so you shouldn't assume that Paul made a mistake there.

Romans 1:3-4
"Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead"

timmy2409:
I must be blind. Where does it say "supposed"?
Please stop being dishonest.
yeah, you must be blind. what bible translation do you use?
I have the kjv and the nrsv and they both have "supposed" in them when they list the genealogy in Luke 3:23
you can open the bible and read the verse to see for yourself (or google it). You haven't disputed Matthew 1 either. It states that "joseph is the husband of mary who is the mother of Jesus". and this is the explanation of how Jesus falls into the lineage of David.
Nowhere did it say in the genealogy that jesus is the biological or DNA son of Joseph.

timmy2409:
But my contention here is, if you had taken a sample of Jesus' DNA at conception, could you trace him by blood back to David?
when talking about lineage, the bible is referring to the social family lineage not DNA. clearly Jesus wasn't born of joseph biologically. this is very clear in the bible. I really don't understand what exactly your argument is.

Christianity EtcRe: Is JESUS Really The Decendant Of King DAVID. by red101(f): 2:02am On Nov 10, 2014
^ Did you read the verses? if so, you will identify how the bible wrote the geneology differently when it came to the point of Joseph.
in matthew, it didn't say joseph begat Jesus. it says "jospeph was the husband of mary who begat jesus"
in luke, it says Jesus was the "supposed" son of joseph.

Both Matthew and Luke explicitly attribute their different genealogies to Joseph
unless you don't know what the definition of "explicit" is. because the bible put it implicitly.
Christianity EtcRe: Is JESUS Really The Decendant Of King DAVID. by red101(f):
timmy2409:
Both Matthew and Luke explicitly attribute their different genealogies to Joseph, implying that he was either born of two fathers, or that one or both of these writers had no idea what they were talking about.
Not true. Both Matthew and Mark very clearly pointed out the fact that Joseph was not the biological father. Read the bible for evidence.

Matthew 1.1-17
"Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the father of Perez....and Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations."

Luke 3:23-38
"And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,
Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph"

Romans 1:3-4
"Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead"

Prophesies about Jesus' Birth:

Jesus will come from the line of Abraham. Prophecy: Genesis 12:3. Fulfilled: Matthew 1:1.

Jesus’ mother will be a virgin. Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14. Fulfilled: Matthew 1:18–23.

Jesus will be a descendent of Isaac and Jacob. Prophecy: Genesis 17:19 and Numbers 24:17. Fulfilled: Matthew 1:2.

Jesus will be from the lineage of King David. Prophecy: Jeremiah 23:5. Fulfilled: Matthew 1:6.

He will be great, hand will be called the Son of the Highest; and ithe Lord God will give Him the jthrone of His father David. Luke 1:32
Christianity EtcRe: What Is Your Take/opinion On Christain Women Who Wear Trousers? by red101(f):
TheLight001:
Deuteronomy:22:5 says: "A woman shall not
wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God."
trousers are unisex.

If you think about it, many of those laws in deuteronomy are not very christian ex stoning people to death, polygamy etc. They are old jewish laws (similar to modern sharia laws) not christian laws.

My opinion therefore is that what you wear does not matter before the lord except what is in your heart.
EducationRe: Privatize Public Schools And Distribute Their Shares To The Masses by red101(f):
Wallie:
Also, one of the quintessential things taxes are used for is to fund public schools. In the States, you can only attend public schools in the county/city (local government) you live in. Every local government gets some money from the state to fund public schools but majority of the funding comes from extra taxes paid by each local government resident by way of property taxes. Some areas pay over a $1000 per month in property taxes. The taxes are determined based on county-accessed value and the size of your house. The tax rate varies highly from county to county.

This means that people who invest more money in education (read: pay higher taxes) will typically have better schools because they can afford to pay the best teachers and buy the most modern equipment. As a result, people with school age kids shop around for the county/local government area to live in, which also means that demand for houses in that area will increase.

In the US, if you want your kids to go to a good school, you will have to buy or rent a house in a relatively expensive area so that you can send them to a public school or buy a house in a cheaper area and send them to a private school.
great point
