FreeStuffsNG:So what are you saying. That his failure in the Delta FA is the reason why the league is crawling and had been crawling for a generation. So if he was a success and a genius in Delta State it will make the NPFL equal to the PFL. You still do not realize what is wrong with this country. Nigerians love to pretend. |
jrusky:But when will grow. South Africa did not have a practical, national soccer league throughout white rule and it's teams were no where to be found on the continent when the likes of Enugu Rangers, Leventis United and Abiola Babes were consistently playing CAF matches. But today their teams are winning CAF tities while ours scrape the bottom of the barrel losing even to two bit west coast amateur clubs you have never heard of. One year our league is on telly, next year it is not, one step forward then three steps back, endless bickering and litigations and every ill reflective of our societal lapses.... Let us just admit that Nigeria is not cut out to be an administrative success in any way, shape or form. And this affects sports. A country of this size and with the resources we have (manpower I mean, not money) should be way ahead of the rest of Africa in commercial success, in hosting international events, and in culturing far more successful sports people and sporting teams. Our biases, sentiments and plain old greed will not permit the the solidarity that underpins that. |
iamoyindamola:That is changing. Last season was not true to type. However attraction to creative/performing arts is critical in establishing commercial value. Thus there cannot be a case for patriotism or buy Nigeria here. Music, books, film, sports and leisure, etc will rise and fall, be commercially successful or not by content not compulsion. |
arantess:Hmm.... that is serious. |
arantess:Yes. |
Hire him, set him up for life imprisonment or be blackmailed perpetually. |
6ixT8:Sorry, I forgot Trossard for a moment. |
Banbanna:There is no shame in admitting a purchase is not working well. There is no manager in soccer that has not got 'bad market'. They can uae him exclusively for European matches since he will be competing with teams that are less pacy and at a lower tempo and against defenders that may be more generous. |
6ixT8:Exactly what I would say. I forsee Fabio Viera benching Kai very soon if the German does not radically up his game. The only down side to Viera is his size and physicality.which is comparable to Odegaard on the other side. |
marsup:Spot on. The league has woken up to the duo. Arteta has to evolve his tactics. |
arantess:Kai... ![]() |
'Sunday worship at the Emirates....' These commentators eh.... ![]() Next image is 'Jesus' with both hands in the air in thanksgiving, prayer? The Premiership. Drama par excellence. That is why we love it. |
Tianamen1:And what are those things. |
Ebubu3:Not renovated. Upgraded. Concrete is fantastic sub base material but not the nicest finishing material. Ebonyi has very poor ground conditions and Umahi's decision to use concrete for roads and pavements all those years ago was a good one. |
Yeah, concrete is harsh on tyres and poor with aquaplaning. |
9jahotblog:United are experienced oh. The game can go any way. Don't put money on this match. |
phemmyfour:That goal was not stopable. Onana is a good goal keeper. Cameroun has a long tradition of excellent goalies. NFF should harvest some for the Eagles if they are wise. |
Can anyone tell me what Kai Havertz brings to any team, any game. Arteta and co. should swallow their pride and realise early that this is another Pepe blunder. Reserve him for the Champions League if they feel he is a Euro-esque player but in the Premiership the guy has not played anything since coming to England. |
Thank goodness. Managed to find NBCSports on this damn decoder... ![]() 1-1....as expected. |
ideynl1:Don't mind them. They always sound like children or adults with low IQ, worthy to be ignored. |
It is those that cannot take the corrections of criticism, and be tamed by the opposing forces of civil advocacy but believe in autocratic rule that divert from the principles of democracy that are the threats to it. Play the game according to the rules and it will be embraced by all and sundry. Any talk of jettisoning democracy is a reaction to past misdeeds and shows the failures of the operators of the past and the serious task ahead of the operators of the present to steer it back on course. No one bails from a ship except it is sinking. |
blesdman:So who was there then. Which government, which President, which party, which citizens, which supporters. How did this all happen. Who was sleeping on duty when the roof fell in? Nigerians like to find excuses, dodge reality, lament after the fact, but in the heat of the moment, when the tragedy is being cooked, their minds are sealed like Esau's, who will not sit back and think of the consequences. There was more than enough warning by well meaning citizens that the government was over leveraging, well documented warnings that the CBN was over printing, well documented warnings that government should cut back spending. But no. The vocal support always found a reason to ride over reason. 'It is Mr. President's right...' to do, they said after all even America borrows. Okay na. |
Benwallt:The very man you all were hailing then, describing Mr. President as doing very well and I quote, 'repositioned the country'..... Can't forget that irony of all time. You guys need to rewind this forum to just six months ago and you will be amazed at your total volte-face. Anything 'enjoyed' in Nigeria today is as a result of historical, communual self deceit. 8 years of hypocrisy and pretense, of calling cancer a headache. Bringing out nonsense statistics today when it is too late to head off the fallout. Shebi reckless borrowing is no longer good. And why not call out Mr. Lawan and his cohorts who gave express permit to every indiscretion. They are all hiding today. Nigerians and short term, attention deficit memory. |
Strike for what. Haven't they given you the rice and beans you asked for? |
sulaak:I just tire for Nigerians. Just accustomed to suffering, failure and mediocrity. This is a man that has coached the team perhaps more than any Nigerian in history with absolutely nothing to show for it. Where is the respect he will get from the players, where is the fear they will have of him.... And on your second point, absolutely spot on. The management of the team from salaries to training and tours can be financed exclusively by sponsorship. All it takes is creativity, hardwork and consistent integrity. Football is ultra popular in Nigeria and the people are just begging for some sort of purposeful structure and they will open their wallets. Who loves soccer in Nigeria abeg step up and chase these charlatans out of the way. Tired of all these nonsensical merry-go-round. |
FreeStuffsNG:What is patriotic about mediocrity. This sounds to me like favouritism. Will you keep a guard dog simply because it is loyal and licks your face or that it can bark and chase away burglars. Excuses day and night, management country. |
Eguavoen again........haba... ![]() Is he the majority shareholder in the NFF? |
sylve11:The Premiership is a hard competition. When you change your entire squad and bring a host of foreign players it will take time for them to adjust. They will do well with time. The players are good and age is on their side. |
Angelfrost:Best business this window of all Premiership teams by a country mile. The guy is reborn. Levi finally struck gold after years of dry holes. |
Abdulmumin412:Is half a billion no longer 500 million that was allegedly spent by the Blues this window, and multiplied by 900 naira to a dollar should be 450 billion or so.... |
Half a billion dollars.... 450 billion naira spent in just this transfer window alone. Kai.... |
Hehehe... Michael Jackson, over the bar. |
