bennybuhari:For wia. It is the people that have failed themselves. Was the 61 percent vote the ousted president got for a THIRD TERM from ghosts or ghouls. Was it not 'WE THE PEOPLE' that have been supporting the Bongo monarchy for what amounts to a lifetime 'on the throne'. |
gabbasin:Not just governor's. All of Nigeria including at the centre. Can you imagine that a former president of the United States was indicted by what is the equivalent of a state government and ordered to report to a local government courthouse and his mugshot taken in the equivalent (because there is none) of a community police station due to election offences. And he cannot do anything because it is the law. Abeg we have not started our democratic journey. |
LibertyRep:So you all now agree that Nigeria is not a proper democracy but a feudal state struggling to become a monarchy. That is the path all Africans have decided to take until a junta gunshot shakes everyone awake. |
Rikze:And what about their collaborators within the citizenry who cheer them on and give them the moral support to continue in error and fail to challenge poor or bad governance..... Did the last government not receive vociferous and fanatical support and even when it was clear the nation was heading for the iceberg, hit it and began to sink the orchestra continued to play. Coups are not just against government. It is one part of society saying to the other that it is fed up with mindlessness. |
madridguy:And wrestle states away from a wishy washy federal government. As one who continued to advocate for restructuring, had it been that states operated their own reserve banks the effects of the terrible borrowings will have been constrained to the centre, inflation rates will have differed across states that care |
Just waking to hear this. Na waoh for Africa and her feudalistic governments masquerading as democracies. Truly the black man, the African is not mentally competent to found and sustain a viable society. It is clear why and how Africans were taken into slavery. A people that cannot organise themselves. |
Onefornaija24:Hmmm.... the real 'Bad Bunny'... ![]() |
It is the lack of vision and a proper governing structure that makes the issue and challenges abide till this day. IIdeally the NDDC should be an intervention agency with a time based developmental mandate and well worked out performance milestones to take the Niger - Delta from point A to B. But it appears it has become another level of bureaucracy with an open ended mandate, no particular targets and certainly no metrics by which it's performance can be measured. With the North East having their own intervention agency the structure of governance in Nigeria becomes more amorphous, more unstable and less efficient by the year. This government can do us all a favour by shaping the structure of intervention agencies and setting time and value based targets be it five years, ten years or more for them to complete their mandates, transfer whatever assets and programmes they have to the states and communities concerned before winding down. The lack of vision, focus, targets and schedules is what has made the NDDC a cesspit of the most heinous crimes of economic corruption known to mankind. And the people concerned are less interested in superintending over the so called interventions because they feel it will run forever. |
watersideboys:Find money anywhere you can and speculate. There is nothing else stocks offer in a high inflation economy. |
Juju70:Well inflation and devaluation has a lot to do with it tipping the market in favour of offshore investors in the market. The key now will be to keep them by real growth. Because if these companies begin to reel out poor results due to the state of the economy then those offshore investors will retreat. That is why moves have to be made against the poor economic numbers in Nigeria presently and bring confidence not just to the markets but the entire economy BY NIGERIANS. |
chokekachy:Now they will require a bout of good govenance to remain there. Good governance to reduce the level of poverty through job growth which will underpin those companies that specialize in banking and consumer goods. |
Another passing statement. Short of DETAILS of the HOW? How they will be 'involved and empowered' is the real essence of governance. |
Hmmm.... coming from an institution suffering a credibility crises. And that is why the people must remain vigilant to HOLD these institutions to account such that their words are their bonds and that the failure to redeem such bonds have consequences. If not, stories of woe will never end |
Nigerians will elect people who will get there only to start seeking solutions. Cart before the horse, supermarket democracy. These are the people he should have met to seek solutions when he was running for office. That is the principal purpose of campaign fundiyg. Not to bribe and buy consciences but for the candidate to hire experts to framework his government and seek solutions to the prime challenges and produce a blueprint for governace. And the candidate uses that blueprint to campaign and the citizens will know whether his offerings will work or not and vote for whose offerings are best for them. But I guess Nigerians don't care. They don't realize that the real concept of hitting the ground running means implementing the plans decided before elections. Now it is Mr Edun and co, unelected people that will decide our fortunes. Who will we then hold accountable if things don't work out. That is how Mr. Buhari and Jonathan and all the plan less governments before them 'escape' their tenures without achieving anything. |
KwuoteYourFada:So the question becomes. Who is host and who is guest. |
TheBillyonaire:This is one thing I keep on saying about the way our democracy is structured, the lack of detail, of depth, of knowledge by the operators, the so called leaders including the present one. The grave dependence on the notion of being an ace 'head hunter' as the primary quality of leadership. How can that be. How can a country be run where those who hold the top jobs know very little about what the issues are and what to do to get moving A couple if day agi I sat with some friends at the first Republican Pres. debate and despite the underwhelming performances of all the candidates tou could see that they knew what the issues were that affected America and what their own solution would be. It doesn't take a genius to then deduct that they will know what tool would make the cabinet. But here leaders rather depend on 'specialists' to find solutions and when these specialists gain power they are termed as cabals akin to the infamous domestic narrative in these parts of a house girl becoming a housewife. Nigerians must raise their knowledge about how democracy works and begin to task these people to come to present themselves as candidates only after THEY HAVE FOUND SOLUTIONS, and not before. We cannot afford to continue to live with propaganda and historical movies where we elect because HE HAS DONE IT BEFORE. Because no one of them has ever been a president before. People in sane climes elect people who come with solutions. Politicians there do their homework. They prepare like students for an examination and are approved for office after the citizens scrutinize the best solutions, the best courses of action to take their country forward. Even businesses today have changed the way interviews are conducted for critical positions. Seeking solution based candidates over paperwork to remain competitive. No one comes to learn on the job in a serious country with serious problems. That is not qualitative democracy. |
Ah, ah Mr. Veepee. But you folks were not saying this just months ago before you came in. You folks were saying that the Buhari regime did well and had 'repositioned' (funny word) Nigeria after the PDP years. Thus you were coming to continue the 'good works'. So were those well documented quips out of ignorance, mischief, irony, or the usual political ass kissing aimed at deceiving the gullible. And if you guys can be so two faced, what makes you trustworthy now. Is this not a government of plausible deniability....chai... Nigeria.....it is well. |
discusant:Then he should provided documentary evidence stamped and signed by whoever was in office, perhaps with evidence of payment to who or what. You don't put up a multimillion naira edifice based on word of mouth or verbal agreements/approvals. With that he can seek legal redress and he will be vindicated. But I guess not. |
But when the borrowings were going on during the last regime, Mr. President backed them in well documented statements. And his supporters did likewise, comparing the state of Federal finances to that of Lagos state, the leader in borrowings amongst it's peers. How did he or who did he expect to repay those Buhari era rampant loans. Is this not a lack of foresight. A case of playing politics back then. That is why trust for politicians and office holders continues to tank. Their talk is more devalued than the naira. |
Hope in this regime the revenues reach the coffers of the state instead of being fritted away by the agency. |
Ensa777:They were able to do that because the people they claim to govern are not vigilant and are not forceful in demanding for their rights most likely because they 'love' and 'respect' (subservient, feudal mindset) those they appoint to work for them. They see themselves as too small to question authority. They see their leaders as kings with godly mandates beyond reproach. The liberty of the mindset of the average Nigerian is the beginning of a new country. |
I hope the people will hold the state government accountable for the mess and teach them a lesson at the coming polls. There must be a penalty for shoddy governance. They cannot keep a leaky umbrella and blame the rain. If the people cannot do that then they are doomed for worse governance to come. Just as with the Federal case, a non performing government that was returned and what we see today. |
Bfly:How long is a journey when you know where you are going and you are at the wheel. Nigerians just do not understand democracy. They don't understand their role Viz the role of leadership. They think it is just elections and the popular 'support' the leader. The clergy man should ask himself if his relationship with God is all about God. Whether his faith doesn't require him to 'work things out'. Whether the length of his 'wait' for salvation does not depend on his readiness to work out the salvation. Nigeria cannot get better if the citizens sit and wait on leader a or governor b. They have to work out their way to propserity. All leadership does is to organize the quest. And that is why in progressive societies you hear more of what the people are doing rather than what government is doing. The people are always striving for their freedoms because in it they thrive. Get rid of feudal mentality. View leadership as partnership and Nigeria will rise. Good things are waiting for Nigerians to work them out. |
It is clear that to continue with the prevalent security structure and operations will bring the same results. What this government should do is to study other successful nations of equal size, equal populations, equal diversity and equal challenges to find out how they overcame them with a view to creatib a framework for Nigeria. These are the things that serious leaders do in vying for office. So they get into office with a vision and only need a few days or weeks to template it over what prevails bringing quick solutions to the challenges. Why we continue to run out democracy based on hot air or empty promises despite our bitter difficulties continues to baffle one. How we elect people without solid plans IN PLACE considering the urgency of living in Nigeria. What is the value of democracy to the average Nigerian beyond sentiment..... |
Burob:If there are ideas, where are they or what are they. He had ideas of removing subsidies to stop the financial rot. It didn't take 24 hours to effect them and without a budget for that matter. Does it take a budget to set up and roll out an idea. Just admit there has not been any serious thought or serious attempt at finding solutions to the security challenges so far and stop beating about the bush looking for cupboards to hide in. Government has been spending money left, right and centre on the things it cares about. The government I have known for over forty years does not waste time in addressing things it is interested in. And will not attempt things or be slow at things that have vested interests or skewed structures. And we all know that the structure or security architecture in Nigeria is faulty. |
itsme01:So what is he elected for. Is political office no more a solutions based job?, a competitive one for that matter?. Is it a vocation or hobby.? You guys like attracting unnecessary criticism by mindless kneejerks. |
Smash and grab indeed... ![]() Newcastle in the mud. Eddie Howe completely to blame. Dead changes. But Pool should play the old squad. They are much better. |
Between Barnes and Gordon is as clear as day and night. Howe dropped the ball with that sub. |
My first Liverpool game of the season and like Arsenal yesterday I am beginning to think they did not buy well enough at this summer's window. This team does not look at par with last season's to say the least. The movement, passing, pressing Klopp's teams.are known for is flagging. This team is not sharp enough.... so far. |
crazygod:Well maybe because I am watching a different network but watch for the replay from the goalie's view you will see that he took both legs before contacting the ball. Anyway VAR reviewed as with all red cards. |
Eyaah, poor Diaz... the sacrificial lamb. |
garfield1:Newcastle is not playing anything great. Just that Pool players are acting as if on controlled substances... ![]() |
