Is this a joke. You can see they know they are completely discredited and are running from hole to hole seeking other institutions to hide under. The NA should not bare listen to them. They supprted an intransigent Executive to scuttle hopes of a credible election. The House should work by itself to move by laws to undermine the powers of the Executive to influence INEC and laws to reform INEC independently. Their future depends on this. If they cannot do it they should not return to the public in tears if they are ejected at the next polls under questionable circumstances. A bad system is a threat to all, both to the victims and beneficiaries. They should not be shortsighted. INEC should go and sit down. They destroyed themselves. |
germanized:Very disappointing. To redeem its image it should run as far away from politics and political activities as possible. An organization that does not understand its purpose is bound to stray and err. The Army is just one step away from political activism. Kudos to the Airforce and Navy. They appear to handle these issues slightly better. |
viktor88:Roy Keane is their grand patron. Ten years ago you'd think by now he would have won the Champions League whereas the very best today could not even melt ice cream in their mouths. |
As leader of PDP in Kano he has directed.... ![]() Who the hell does he think he is to dictate what the government will do and not do. I just donot understand what is wrong with Nigerians. Why must the next always be worse than the previous. You seek deliverance from a yoke of bondage only to take another. Kwakwanso has had his eight hears in government. He is done and shoukd stay away from governance. The deal is between the governor and those who elected him. He is responsible to them. He is accountanbe to them only. They shouls shun godfatherism. It doesn't matter hpw the givernor was elected. It doesn't matter what support he got from who. What ultimately matters is responsibility. Godfatherism is completely inverse to performance simply because he who controls will and cannot be judged and he who holds power can and will shirk accountability. A clear example: If there was misgovernace in Lagos this last dispensation who would you blame. Mr Ambode or his godfather.... think about it. Who do you hold responsible.... one, the other or both... All over the world Presidents, Prime Ministers, Governors, Senators Chairmen and women are supported by all manner of interests, sponsored to the ballot. Sent with all manner of agendas but once the ballot is cast it ends there. You simply cannot follow the bride and groom into honeymoon suite and dictate how they get along with married life. Kano should remain a society, a dynamic one where the people are the ultimate deciders and the elected the ultimate servant. Godfatherism is not progress. To pay or not to pay minimum wage is not political ideology, it is not an issue of party philosophy. It is a direct government act. It is not Mr. Kwakwanso's business. |
DMerciful:Yoi are just brilliant. You don't belong on this forum. To the topic. That is exactly what leadership is. The ability to sacrifice ones personal interests for the good of the society. To ensure systems function properly. Indeed having been a victim of all manner of electoral maladies over serveral ballots one would have expected that the very person who was a victim Mr. Buhari will have been at the forefront of making things work properly. A true, patriotic leader will nat have even waited for the Legislature to advance things. He himself will have sent Bill after Bill to the House for consideratiuin and will have aired reformist views repeatedly and done every thing in his power to ensure at the minimum, the 2019 election would be better than the one that brought him to power. That is what is called cementing a legacy. But whayy did we have. The serial victim ended up the champion victimizer. The one at the butt of police harassment turned round and used the military. The one who was robbed in courts turned round to ransack the Judiciary. Is it a black thing, an African thing or a Nigerian thing that we simply cannot beget better. We simply cannot advance things. We simply cannot organize and develop society. We simply cannot divorce mediocrity. The discourse all over the place today is not how better than the 2015 election edition is but even the most loyal of Mr President admit the.comparison to.the worst asoects if the 2015 elections. The yardstick is how many were killed in 2015 compared to 2019 as progress when the tools to make it zero casualties were sitring on his table and he refused to engage them. That is not leadership. Today many have rigged themselves to office on both sides of the political divide and gone home happily. It will be a pity if anyone citizen should shed a tear for anyone of them if they refuse to right the system when in power and then fall victim tomorrow. |
Shuku0kukobambi:But they asked for soldiers and he gave them soldiers. What else do they eant. Do they know that the military is severely compromised and damaged by their involvement in this election sequence. Do they expect the Presidnet and Cin C to completely destroy it because of one state. |
freeze001:Hmmm.... nawa.... So sad. |
GAZZUZZ: ...did you say that syndicate.... Because you assured me that syndicate was merely an exercise... |
happney65:Okay,.got it, cheers. |
happney65:It takes a certain degree of ignorance to place criticism and hate in the same compartment. I wonder why you chaps just cannot make the difference. What will make.such a man of high esteem descend so low as to hate his fellow man and senior political representative for that matter. I use very harsh words on a whole bunch of elected political office holders but I cannot for the life of me have a single fibre of hate against any one of them. Please we should learn to right size our words. |
Macauley07:At this stage (last eight) no one really fears anyone. There are no small teams left and as records show both City and Tottenham are the least experienced. They are respected, not feared. Juventus has played two for three semi finals in the last five years even before CR7 came. They have a solid pedigree even if the Portuguese is injured for instance and cannot play. |
arantess:Quite right because football remains a team sport where a tree cannot make a forest. However it could also be self motivating. Now that he has set that red line he acknowledges that it is the cup or nothing. Very risky. Very brave. How many players can promise a domestic league title thoughtless of the biggest club cup on earth. |
tsinzu:Said that much months back. That was a big momemt blunder. And now if tne man loses his mandate and his immunity come 29th May....the next test of Mr. President's will will be at hand. |
lexy2014:I did not say anywhere that the aircraft is safe. What I am saying is that it is clear those that survive have better flying skills and are probably able toreact better tothe flaws of new technology. What I am saying is that technology should never erase the need for sound basics. As a matter of fact new technologies mean a higher level of basic skills in any endeavour not less. What I am saying is that third world countires should go easy on the rush to upgrade or import new technologies when it is clear they have inadequate basic knowledge and competencies on how to troubleshoot when it comes to death and life matters. You will never be ahead of a Californian geek when the next Iphone comes. If it gets bad he will likely be able to recover faster than you. If your life depended on the phone you are better of mastering an older model. If you investigate most pilot error led crashes the bulk of them were caused by lack of situational awarenes. The pilots were just not able to grasp what the aircraft was doing and in some cases even worsened the situation by wrong remedial actions. Technology can never compensate for that. Technology gone wrong is irrecoverable in those cases. No one is absolving Boeing here. The Max 8 obviously has problems and they have not done enough to remediate the situation. But what else is out there that is potentially catastrophic. Prepare for that. Only the living can blame. |
Yeah the elections were really poor. As bad as the OBJ days but costing many times more in cash and lives. The government has clearly failed on this one. |
TheAlchemist:Because when they notice the thng is malfunctioning the just turn it off and take control. If I engage adaptive cruise control at speed and I am approaching a slower car in front and the throttle is not relaxing and the brakes engaging, do I just sit there till I hit. Whenever I am on cruise my thumb is never far from the 'cancel' button and my senses are even more at alert. Do we suppose these pilots think technology is infallible. Even if the auto systems had no bugs, it can still fail at anytime. Pilots are trained on situational awareness and emergency trouble shooting. If they could not handle a computer system failure how willthey have been able to cope with worse problems such as structural, electrical or hydraulic problems.... hmmm |
Max 8 obviously has a auto command bug but for the life of me.... just like others just turn the damn autopilot off when it begins to malfunction. These two incidents bring to the fore two very important things, one of which president trump aluded to: It appears the more sophisticated commercial aircraft are the less airlines are willing to project airmanship. In the end it takes a pilot to fly an aircraft. Technology will never be fool proof. Pilots cannot afford to lower their guards and their competencies simply because computers are getting better. The calculator should never replace the knowledge of simple arithmentic when lives are at stake. This leads to the second... I donot want to sound condescending but third world countries should take it easy with the uptake of new technologies. From the report it is clear this problem has been raging for some time and has been handled safely in Europe and America. Do I suppose the crews of Indonesian Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines were simply out of their depths when it came to raw, pure airmanship. What is so hard in disengaging a faulty device. Could it be that they were just to unfamiliar with the aircraft and flight situational awreness they could not troubleshoot in time. Airmanship is the watchword here. When you get on an aircraft you better hope your Captain is not only competent but is skillful... and familiar with technology his country or continent has no hope of attaining. |
Big game player. |
Is he physically fit and able to stand trial now... ![]() |
Thought corruption had ended. Thought the zero tolerance regime will scratch the back of the beast. Alas... the system thst puts 2.5 billion into the hands of one man will guarantee corruption will fontinue raging for decades to come.No amount of insecticide can save a man determined to fish in a swamp.... just drain the swamp. |
Gunning for the title of worst conducted elections since the return to democracy 20 years ago. You will have expected that in 20 years thd black man will have nade scant advances... unfortunately not. In this structure, Nigeria CAN NEVER progress. In this structure, there is only one direction... down and down and down... In this structure, in another 20 years the Nigeruan Army will have replaced INEC... and the Sergent Major will be the collating officer and the Brigade Commander the State REC. |
Jestin:That is a chicken and egg scenario that will make the dog of development chase its tail forever. Just how much carrot and stick does a black man need to move forward. |
Masterclass32:Hmmm... I think we all agree that aspect of his legacy is dead and buried. |
The desperation to make Nigeria a one party state as a first step to a full blown monarchical dictatorship is well under way. Then when you 'conquer' Nigeria then what... lower standards all around. Because Nigerians are inherently lazy thinkiers who would do everything to avoid a competition for ideas. But the enlightened folks out there should spread the word and take up the fight to ensure we donot end up a one party state. No one desired for liberty from the PDP only to be held captive by the APC. |
Khd95:Agreed. Even he himself cannot come near his performance records of his first tenure. But to answer the call of his club and put his reputation in jeaopardy shows the man cares. I commend him for that. |
MajorJeffery:Oga there are rules about dumping fuel. First you want to make sure what the problem is, then you call an emergency and tap to return to port. Then you have to find a suitable place to dump. All these take time, time you may not have if it is a critical emergency. I hope no pilot will dump ten thousand gallons of highly flammable ATK while you are crawling to work on Third Mainland bridge traffic. There are rules man... rules. |
justscorchone:I think this issue has been addressed many times over the years and the response has been constant. There just isn't a material in existence from which a big enough parachute(s) to cushion the fall of a 300 ton airplane moving with any sort of momentum. Such will be too big to carry and too complicated to deploy safely. For the same reasons had parachutes for individual passengers been discarded as an unworkable idea. Too many people, too complicated a routine and moreover no two air crashes/incidents are ever the same. It is one thing to have an aircraft run out of fuel and slowly drift to peril over several hours and it is another for an instantaneous and catastrophic failure to the airframe to occur giving little chance of escape. The world has come to accept that is it better to build better, more reliable and safer aircraft than to dwell on escape systems. Theyhave come to accept the random nature of accidents that no one escape system will work in all cases and if an airplane is in serious distress....you are essentially... done. |
ifyalways:No, they have to respond. That is responsibility and they are right. It is too early to speculate on what caused both crashes and what the airplane maker will do about the situation. Cancellations are not cheap. There are penalties to pay. |
Some sort happened to me once several years ago in Lagos when I was still driving alone. This was my vehicle docs (copies) in a dossier and they managed to remove the insurance sheet in a flash before I could meet them round the back. What is my own. I just drove it to the station and left it there for them, got home made a call and someone came to pick up another identical set at home for them to peruse. I don't have time for rubbish. If it was the days of GSM I would simply call for back up. |
Op take time oh. Do you how many hours on the field it will take me to burn off those donut calories. Thou shalt not tempt thy fellow man.... ![]() |
