aolawale025:Most indices of a decent life and living are rapidly tanking.... Nigerians are going into extinction 'instalmentally.' |
Still has some decision challenges in the final third but the potentials are immense.... a Nigeria Argen Robben if I must say. He needs an astute tactician to guide him well. Wish he was in Holland with Ajax. |
What about those too dark to have tattoos....can they have them in white...just asking ![]() |
But you have trillions to spend on 'phantom' petro subsidies. Two things led to the industrial revolution in the west at the dawn of the 19th century, coal and steel. Without energy and a means of manufacturing steel, there is no point in trying to develop. We might just give up and embrace our primitivity. Government has no business in business and Ajaokuta remains a toxic asset which in my honest opinion should be dismantled, broken up and reconstituted as a completely new entity but in rejecting the Bill I hope there are alternate plans to have Nigeria gain self sufficiency in steel production. |
oyatz:The mods are either comatosed or Seun is complicit... so embarrassing... |
rottennaija:Government eveywhere in the world exist to be criticised. The past government was criticised day in day out. What has changed my man.... of course you are on the government side...that is what... Can you sign an agreement that when ypur principals are eventually out and a government you donot fancy comes to power you will be silent throughout...can you sign to that.... because the folks most vocal now were just like you just a few, short years ago....wondering why all the angst against their principal and shouting them down... What goes around... comes around... |
Let us talk about the racism here on this forum first. |
Don't worry, the Bourdillon bullion vans are coming to bulldoze his ambitions.... |
A monkey, plenty of trees, walkways, skyways..... and more trees.... thank goodness I didn't waste my time. The long queue of cars during the yuletide was tempting to think something was actually going on there.... well except if you are.... a primate. |
When we say restructure, you all say no..... enjoy... My kids will attend the very best anywhere in the world... I cannot sacrifice my generation to appease ethnic and religious bigotry.... Who have unity schools unified.... are their products not roaming about society like vermins. .. on forums like this making ethno-religious diatribes. |
tactius:The criticism is about the perceived hypocrisy this government is enmeshed in when it cast doubt about the subsidy in the run up to the elections to get folks like you voting them in only to pay even more in even less transparent circumstances after raising pump prices. How the government has gotten away with this fiasco without serious inquest baffles me but proves Nigerians are eith unwilling or unable to be active partners in the governance of this country. It is not simply a matter of whether each individual citizen wants subsidy retained or not. Nigerians are clearly split on this. It is the actions of this government that raises serious questions. |
MyGeneration:Eh now. That you are angry is a good thing. Humans donot come into creation except someone sheds blood and screams in pain. Developmwnt in a society bogged down by tribalism, religious bigotry, nepotism, feudalism cannot be delivered except through revolution. And the people have to suffer crushing hardship for them to let go of their pet parochial preferences holding this country down. Read about the French revolution and understand why no French politician takes his citizens for granted. And that is why sometimes it is good that we elect bad leaders not managebale ones. General Babangida once aluded to thia fact in discourse with General Obasanjo. Saying, 'a good leader knows when his people have had enough and presses on. A great leader knows when his people have had enough and pulls back..' Nigerian leaders have always successfully mixed in hardship with palliatives, sticks with carrots. That is why Nigeria has been on full retreat, terminal decline since independence. If an 'unfortunate' had gone the whole hog and crashed the economy, driving us liyerally intothe abyss overnight, Nigeria will have experienced a revolution by now and they would be history. But they give you Trader Moni, you heer, months later they increase taxes you cry and the next cycle of 'blow drying occurs...' Chief. We are a product of our desire not to take the concrete steps to develop. We say day and night that we dearly need to restructure. That most Nigerians still argue about its importance indicates 'the meat on the fire is not tender enough to eat'. When we have suffered enough and believe me the worst is yet to come, no one will tell the average Nigerian to dump his tribe and religion and unite to survive. Yes oh. I am a Nigerian, living in Nigeria, presently in Portharcourt conducting business right now, but my soul can never be like the typical Nigerian. I donot think like the greater percentile of folks who live in this country and unfortunately constitute the bulk of voters all of our failed leaders have ridden on the back of. I want this country to make it so I want its people to suffer a lot more so that their souls may be cleansed. The Holy book says he that has suffered is done with sin. Ask a Japanese man to fight his neighbour and he will simply smile and walk away. The average German doesn't want to touch a gun... why... |
backnbeta:Hahahahaha.... indeed. That is what you get from a government bereft of ideas.... just tax, tax, tax... but the silver lining here is that taxation brings about influence and empowers the 'taxee' ... to hold the 'taxer' accountable. Nigerians should understand that it is the path to development as responsibility is universally tied symbiotically to reward. So prosperity may not comedirectly and immediately from increased taxation as we are still pouring water into a basket called the Federal Government but the anger at seeing the efforts go wasting is what ultimately spurs reforms. If Ms. Zainab thinks it will all be a jolly tax and spend ride then she will be in for a shocker. This pressure will definitely catalyse revolutionary rumblings. |
mmb:And the Legislature is superior to any party. It is best practice to have an independent, virile Parliament constitutionally enacted to make laws and oversight the Executive amd Judiciary. We just cannot afford to have a rubber stamp at the behest of an Executive led by a less than stellar democrat. Any precedent the APC creates will be difficult to uncreate. They should consider this very carefully as they will not be in power forever. As dictatorial and meddling as Chief Obasanjo was, it was the Legislature that stopped his third term bid and who knows if he had succeded with that he may as well still be Nigeria's President today. Remember that the PDP had the majority then and it was the PDP led Houses that stalled the crises so an APC majority House acting independently is not a new thing. It is the right thing. We have also seen what harm rubber stamp parliaments at State level have done to the democratic developmental experiences of citizens through the length and breadth of Nigeria. We have seen what disaster rubber stamp parliaments have caused nations far and wide, from those in Cameroun, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Venezuela. Where no checks and balances occur little Hitlers are founded afterall the infamous Nazi leader was duly elected but weeded out all party and ideological rivalry in the Bundestag leaving only 'yes men' whom he rallied with so called patriotoc vitriol and was in return rewarded with unmitigated power. The rest is a sad and disastrous history. Democracy where it works best always holds power in a flux. No one is to have it in excess and unchecked. There must always be some sort of opposition to goad performance and rein in waywardness. We are a nascent democracy and we need it even more as we gradually rid our psyches of decades of totalitarian military rule and when we still have the proponents and actors of such a system very much in charge. |
Dave0116:And what tribe do you suppose I am or what tribe do you suppose I post in behalf of. I rarely reply individuals on this forum so consider this a privilege. Donot attempt to drag me into your sphere of depravity. I donot recognise tribe. I speak no Nigerian language, have lived and worked in 32 out of the 36 states of Nigeria and grew up under Federal status and served this country in such. I cannot be bought by anyone's agenda or sentimental ideology. GTBank remains my principal banker and is in my opinion the best bank in Nigeria. Moreover the late CEO was a close friend of the family. That I can call a spade, a spade concerning this particular incident speaks volumes of my personal principles. It should never have been allowed to deteriorate to such levels. You on tne other hand should go and find your kind to banter with. |
Dave0116:Which part of the post was tribal, sir. |
MrMcJay:Then it will indicate that Nigeria is yet to open shop for business. I do not know of any Fortune500 company that has not experienced serious legal wranglings and has not been penalised massively for various shortcomings over the course of its history. We are all here lambasting Boeing Corp for building defective planes and many nations and airlines have cancelled orders. GTBank has been called out for defecient service and here you are playing the typical Nigerian shortsighted vindictiveness that has made this country near an ash heap. Boeing could as well say it was Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Airlines fault, that they did not have vastly experienced pilots and then the aviation world including Airbus, Bombadier, Dassault, etc will 'refuse to sell planes to those airlines'.... thereby boycotting them. This is just stupid thinking. If Innoson goes on to become successful most banks will fall over themselves to offer services. The facts of the matter are clear amd every reponsible financial industry will study them and benefit from avoiding such for the good of the industryjust as Airbus will benefit in learning from the errors of Boeing, period. We should be a civilised people, governed by laws and driven by the desire for best practices, not a nation of senseless retributive gangster mafiosos. A lecturer assaults his student and is reported and disciplined. The next thing you here Nigerians say is, 'oh, she will never get to graduate'.... 'oh she had better leave the country as no employer will offer her a job....' Just sick thoughts that lumps everyone into this pit filled with asps.... when it is entirely not true. |
Though GTBank remains my core financial institution and has been a friend of the family for many, many years and has done no wrong at all in my personal business dealings.... and has shown a very high level of consistent performance.... you will want to acknowledge and support thedecision of the apex court as a victory in many fronts. For the customer against a leading service company.... For the underdog against a mighty behemoth... For the pioneering industrial concern over the smash and grab financial industry.... For the hardworking blue collar guys over the tight upper lipped white collar slave drivers.... There are so many reasons why this is necessary to generate confidence in the economy especially to those looking from without, seeking to invest in the brick and mortar industries required to build a thriving and sustainable economy. That 'too big to fail', long standing, politically connected and finacially powerful concerns are not beyond the law. Innoson too has to play its part to ensure this event is contained and settled with minimum fallout to the greter economy from which it hopes to benefit. It is time to clean up the mess. |
miketayo:And it is a crime for Nigerians to seek legislative changes to enable them make money and move forward. Can you just listen to the nonsense you posted. Is there any country in the non Communist world where people donot seek personal liberties and prosperity. When the British called for a Referendum on their continued stay in Europe, what was the overwhelming reason.... the fear of losing their liberties, the dilution of their prosperity and the loss of their identity. They kicked from council to parliament. I am just sorry for you folks who are just too ignorant ablout how nations are built. Nigeria is begining to cleave into two distinct ideologies that are beginning to run through the mindset of its citizens. There is a camp that is firmly entrapped in feudalism. The yes sir, ranka dede people who believe you elect a conservative politician and go to bed..... expecting him to do all the house chores and deliver the batter. There is another camp that is firmly in the grip of liberal capitalism that believes government is a yoke, an anchor to the progress of this country and will throw anything and everything at it to let Nigerians build and run their own destinies. I am in this camp. I see government as an organiser of society, period, no more. I believe in democracy and that it gives citizens the right to aspire to whatever levels of success and wealth they so desire and I am beginning to sense that it is upsetting this new found feudal system and its operators who seek to be kings and emperors rather than President's and Servants in Chief. Please this is not the Soviet Union of the 60's. A young and virile democracy at the wheel of a backward country such as our needs to get all its people working and it needs to enrich them. For this to happen it needs to give up a lot of power and privileges. He should stop protecting a failed system of government and its few beneficiaries and open up fhis country. He should sign those bills. Nigeria does not belong to him personally. |
Lucid1:And you sir, have not assessed the importance of those bills and understood why the President did not assent before responding to the critics. As they criticise 'without reason'... so my friend you 'support without reason' Generally I will fall on the side of the critique for one reason and one reason alone.... Nigeria is not getting better across all major indices of life and living. This country badly needs new ideas and new inspiration. I will be shocked if any of the bills is anything but a desire of ordinary folks to move foward and off the anchor that is the Nigerian state amd its terrible, negative and overbearing influence on their daily lives. You simply cannot have wrak, dysfunctional institutions and desire to protect the status quo. I will welcome anything and everything that will wraken the government and give the people more power and more liberties. Judging by his antecedents throughout his public service life I am not surprised that any bill that will do that will be resisted and rejected by him. |
kernel001:Indeed....strange but that is how I arrived at a hypothesis about corruption several years ago and it goes like this: 'Corruption is what THE OTHER FELLOW DOES, not me.'. ... in a government that professes anti corruption....as its DNA. |
Just make sure shards of glass don't go down with it.... ![]() |
Purej:What are you talking about. The party that won the just concluded Presidential elections promised what?... and since the elections what have you seen change from what has been happening the past four years. Most folks have given up on govermance since nothing seems to be improvimg and instead focusing on polotics for elections sake. We are just running round in circles. Don't blame them. |
Why am I not surprised. |
Ibcrown:Doubt that. For his club, yes. In the league, no. |
maoolakanm:Actually none but simply cannot stop meddling. It is like George Bush pushing to decide who is governor of Texas or the President of the United States or James Cameron meddling in Theresa May's cabinet. They have honour and respect the role of institutions to protect any legacy they leave behind. I am happy GEJ did not meddle in the primaries of his party, the PDP or the Presidential electiins. He would have been thoroughly messed up by now. He has acted like a proper democrat since leaving office in 2015. Can't say same for others who claim to be political godfathers. |
Excuse me sir.... but in all the strange hysteria..... you have not told us what we are viewing.... I mean is it a museum, aircraft hangars or indoor sports complex.... then we decide whether it is an investment or divestment.... I mean we have learnt a lot from the President of Diverstmemt International, Chief Rochas Okorocha.... that projects are not synonymous with development as movement and motion are not exactly the same thing in contemporary thinking. |
Just don't know what to make of all these.... just sad. |
Glad to have a day job... |
Jessyjack:'...this guy looks...' shows your acumen is probably not better than those you crticise. How do you sense safety by sheer looks. What that means is, if he was a baby faced assasin you wil still come a cropper. My dear. Universal safety is a function of values. War is essentially risky because it is war, peace is essentially safer because it is peace. The United States is less safe than Norway or Finland because Americans love guns, period. It is the nature of a thing that makes it and governs its experiences. If you learn to live a peaceable, quiet life and your values are noble towards people you willhardly get into trouble. But most folks aften look without what ordinarily they should cultivate within. Be a person of value and people WILL COME TO YOU. Seek excellence in life and living and society will protect you, fight for you and guanrantee your peace. |
martineverest:Barcelona is like Lagos state, a one man show. No player goes there and optimises his career as long as the team is woven around Lionel Messi. That is why Argentina does so badly. They like to play for themselves instead of playing for Messi. Mbape career's will just stagnate. Real Madrid is a better 'team' especially for forwards. |
Earthquake2:Exactly. There is nothing the Executive wanted to do from 2015 to 2019 that it did not do irrespective of the Legislature and the Judiciary. Selecting who becomes leader in both Houses is just a means of sharing consequences. It is unlikely going to change the status quo. Mr. President knows that. |

you should tell him to come see you first! and how can a lady travel to see a guy with a strong face like this.... this guy looks like who picks female pants for a living!
