Politics › Re: Borno Admits Error In ₦4 Billion Rail Project Entry In Budget Report by Reference(m): 12:09pm On Jun 23
Contracting with be the death of Nigeria if we cannot just put an end to that sub-culture.

The government and the people have embraced this terrible disease with so much affection they cannot see the ruin it is causing the economy and what should be the productive, investment mentality of Nigeria plc.

Everyone is into "CONTRACTS".
In some government parastatals that is all they do every waking hour of the day...contracts. Governance zero, administration, zero. Just contracts because it is the easiest way to fleece the country and empty the treasury.

It is far, far, far easier to take money to move a piece of furniture from one end of the room to the other by contracts than it is to make a pencil or fry bean cakes and take to market.

They want toilet rolls in government loos, they issue contracts. They want to clean the windows, contracts. They want to service their generators...contracts. All this while they have assistants who can do shopping, janitors who can clean and technicians who can change the oil. But in Nigeria, no.

We are earnestly looking for a leader who will pursue this disease with the same vigour as Mr.President declared, 'subsidy is gone'. Because the contracting culture should also go and give way to real productivity amongst citizens and real governance amongst government.

It is a cancer that must be excised for us to truly develop.

That of Borno was not a mistake by any means. Simply an attempt to pass contraband through customs that has been detected. I am dead certain if they went back several years they will discover many more such phantom projects for which indeed monies have been approved and 'spent'.

Hope all aspirants are learning from this. It is not only to criticize but to be prepared as a leader, a government in waiting so that when providence drops authority on your laps you won't start running around like it is some hot potato.

That is the biggest lie if ever I have heard one.
The American movie industry is the most liberal in the world. Unlike other countries they tell America as it is.

There are countless movies about the poverty problem, the drug problem, the racist problem, the natural disaster problems, the crime problem, the gangland shootings problem, the early settlers wars, the civil wars, the slavery period ...c'mon what movies or tv does your sister watch....'Real House Wives of....whatever.

They make documentaries about the school shootings, civil rights battles, UFO's and other touchy subjects, check out the latest ones on the Epstein files. You can check up anything about the US (except classified military, security and defence issues) on the net and you will get the absolute facts.

Nothing about that country is hidden. The famous movie about the saddest time about Africa, the slave trade, Roots, was made primarily in America.

Try that in Nigeria or Africa, try to make a movie about Nigeria's civil war and see if the government will allow you.

America is a very open and transparent society for anyone who approaches it without a bias. There is no organized, regulated move to hide anything to portray the country in certain light. Real civil liberties ensure that.

6 billionaires are allegedly on the Epstein list and it is only a matter of time before the names pop out.
Travel › Re: FIFA World Cup Fans Discover They've Been Lied To About The USA by Reference(m): 9:55am On Jun 23
The first thing I noticed when I first travelled to that country many years ago that explained a lot of things I read about is just the sheer size.

The US is a very large country, I mean it is massive. And I don't talk of large empty spaces. Yes they have great wildernesses but everything is just off the charts in terms of numbers and magnitude.

There is just plenty of everything. And that explains one important factor, GDP. And I think that is what creates the basis for aspirations, the magnet of the world to trade everything from skills to products.

They have a huge, an enormous market. They consume stuff the world produces voraciously and it shows.

So someone was asking the other day that why do they severely lag behind in transportation infrastructure. Why is their high speed train network so rudimentary. The fact is that they can afford air travel as equivalent to walking down the street.

They do a fifteen minutes flight what the best trains will take thirty minutes to do. Who else does that.

Talking about the world cup and stadia. Was just doing a Google search to see that the US has the most number of stadia over 50,000 capacity. A total of 90. A whooping 90 stadia have capacities over 50,000. The closest country to that, China has about half that number. No other country comes close.

And the funniest thing about all that, is that a good number of those stadia belong to colleges, some of the largest arenas in that country belong to universities....schools. What the heck.

That is what I am saying.
After the bombs, deaths and destruction people will still sit down to talk because of their sufferings.

And the worst of it all. They will end up in a worse position than where they were before the fighting.

The American taxpayer is worse off and Americans have died. Still Iran will not give up it's nuclear ambitions. They will just pause and hide and skitter and prepare for the next war.

The Iranian citizen is worse off than he was before the war. Thousands dead. Destruction everywhere no compensation can cover and have placed themselves in an ever greater crosshairs for future wars that will be even more devastating. Countries in that region will become even more militarized, more hostile towards it, plan to avoid the straits by building pipeline elsewhere leading to even greater economic losses in future.

For Israel, Hezbollah will become even more militarized, regroup to plan future strikes and the whole cycle of wars and vengeance will continue in a few months, not even years....

Mankind never, ever, ever learns.

Sellers here in the North rebag it into small transparent Nylon and sell it for ₦50-₦200 only because of the size.

A lot of parents here buy it for their Children because it is very cheap.

When you mix it in water it tastes like baby powder mixed with groundnut oil and sugar.

Peak milk Refill is now ₦4,000, very expensive and it won’t last up to 1 week for my family of 9

The US govt have initiated a kil switch in modern aircrafts to take over an aircraft remotely following 9/11 in the event of a hijacking

Boeing who manufacture these aircrafts are also military contractors ..
I have a couple of laptops on my desk. One connected to the internet and one not connected to anything. Who in this world can hack into what is not connected.

Modern aircraft have at least three separate computers. One for flight, one for communications and the third for inflight entertainment, etc.

The three are not connected in any way. And in any case there is no flight computer designed for 100 percent self automation. Everything is on the flight deck. The pilot can choose to turn off anything at anytime. He takes the final decision on flight operations.

With a simple switch he can turn off transponder, kill communications and override the autopilot systems anytime he wants. You simply cannot fly a plane from the ground.

Worst comes to the worst, if some CIA spy operation has installed physical devices to do that (you need physical devices to control an aircraft 100 percent) the pilot will simply cause a power failure by turning off the engines and everything shuts down. Abi is it not when you can communicate you can control.

My friend if it were possible no one, I repeat, no one will buy that model of aircraft. No airline will touch it.

PS: If you say interfere like jamming communications or spoofing the radars or other electronic interference I can agree that is possible but control, absolutely not.

It's rumoured that a chip designer was onboard that aircraft and he was taking his chip design to china.

So the US had to take him out on board that aircraft.

Modern aircrafts can be remotely controlled just like every car that has been manufactured in the last past ten years.

The aircraft was hacked and flown into the deep southern Pacific where even mariners dare not sail through because of the rough seas.

And from there crashed into the ocean.
Fairy tales.

You cannot 'hack' an aircraft.
The flight controls are not integrated into any network. The computers operate a closed system.

All these hack a vehicle and drive it away are the stuff of movies. No manufacturer will put such a product on the market. No one will buy it

That should bother you a bit.

Because as a lover of technology, it tells me that there are still limits to our human technology, science and knowledge.

It tells me that the air and ocean is older and deeper and more powerful than our technology.

What if they were taken by aliens?

There are still things on this earth and the universe at large far beyond our knowledge and understanding as humans.

It teaches me to be humble and to never stop seeking for knowledge. We don’t know it all and can never know it all.

239 is not just a number today. It is 239 individual heartbeats that stopped somewhere over dark water on a Friday night, and every single one of those heartbeats had a name, a face, a home, a person who loved them and has been waiting for an answer that has not come.

The world may have moved on. As the world always does. New things to talk about online and react to and forget.

But somewhere in Beijing tonight, a wife still sleeps on one side of a bed.

Somewhere in Malaysia, a child has grown up with a photograph instead of a father.

Somewhere at the bottom of the southern Indian Ocean, in water so cold and so dark that no human hand has ever touched it, may lie the answer to one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of our time.

And the world, busy and distracted and endlessly moving as it is, has not yet found it.

Maybe one day it will.

Maybe one day a ship will lower something into that darkness and pull up the truth.

Until then, the story of Flight MH370 remains exactly what it has always been.

A plane that took off on a Friday night.

239 people who trusted the sky.

And a silence so deep that ten years later, the whole world still has no answer to give to the families who are still asking.

What happened to the passengers on Flight MH370?

What do you think could have happened to them?

I hope we find the answer someday.
Someone, somewhere knows what happened but will probably never tell for one reason or the other. You only have to dig a lot, lot, lot deeper.

Start by secret surveillance of everyone associated with that flight from air few, passengers, baggage handlers, immigration officers, air traffic controllers, the whole lot. Spy on them, wiretap, the whole 9 yards.

Someone will let slip some day.
But I guess that is all too much, too costly for the simple answers sought by the world. Answers that are on a clock.

And for aircraft manufacturers why can't they simply incorporate floatation devices to the black boxes that will enable them break the ocean surface and immediately transmitt the GPS position of the crash site before ocean currents carry them away while still transmitting signals for months not weeks courtesy of our new found love for all things solar.

Politics › Re: Why Power Supply May Never Improve In Nigeria. by Reference(m):
nairalanda1:
So recently, Peter Obi made a comment that he was going to improve our power supply by 10000mw, which would take us up to 32000 mw...which should be enough for us to get light 24/7 (subject to the Siemens project working)...and the response was tinubu supporters making fun of Obi as a man without ideas, while Obi supporters praised their man as being wisdom incarnante.

Except that Obi did not tell us how he plans to do it.

Which essentially begs the question, how do we vote for a guy who promises us something, but does not tell us how to do it.

Which leads me back to Tinubu. IN 2023, tinubu said...if you vote me and I do not give you constant power supply, vote me out in 2027.

Naturally tinubu supporters were praising their man as being a tough minded leader, etc, etc....while Obi people are now calling in the receipts. Man has not done as promised so he should be kicked out.

Which leads me to my point.

Tinubu and obi never/have not told Nigerians how they intend to improve power supply.

The truth of the matter is, we have a plan, laid out by the experts, about power supply. A decent , strong plan....cost reflective tarrifs, ending power theft, and rolling out metering.

But neither tinubu nor obi, nor even atiku or any potential candidate would mention that because it does not win votes. (Sowore would probably announce a plan to give 24 hour light a day at N1 per kwh).

Nigerians , regardless of political party, like hearing populist language. If a leader came into office and started doing the things the experts have said we should do, he would be voted out. Or chased out. You will see the Fulani herdsmen marching with the Igbo farmer, the Yoruba trader marching with his Hausa counterpart, and there would be riots.

And the leader would be voted out.

That is why whoever takes office, won't be allowed to improve power because Nigerians think that electricity should be free of charge.

When in reality, it is not possible.

Electricity costs money. If you won;t pay for it in cost reflective tarrif, you will pay for it in generator and inverter monies. That is what Band A taught us.

And on that Band A, the idea of tinubu was not original. India has a similar system, present for decades, that commercial and industrial properties would pay a cost reflective tarrif and the profits would be used to pay for subsidising the poor farmers and rural people

And after doing that, has power supply in India improved? (No.).

Infact India is planning to make everyone pay cost reflective tarrfs in five years time.

SO, if it didn't work in India, how e go work in NIgeria?

The only way we can get free power is to take massive loans totalling nearly 2/3rd of our budgets for the next ten or more years...and while it may give us enough light, it would also put us in heavy debt for it.

In 2025, Prof Barth Nnaji, who is definetly not a Tinubu supporter put it well

SAUCE : LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPER

I have been saying the above for years, but people here abuse me, so I may as well quote the actual expert, who is a qualified engineer, a former ministar of power, and an owner of a GENCO.

And he is not the first or the last to state that this needs to be done. PwC have said it, several experts have been saying it, a BBC report said it, and so forth.

Yet, Nigerians and their candidates choose to believe the fiction of corruption or some evil Western zionist overmind does not want to give us light.

It is easier to believe conspiracy theory fiction

Like NIgerians, like candidates.

Good afternoon.

I expcet to be abused and to be told about other countries that somehow magically give free power(the macs won't add that those countries pay for it with heavy taxes, or heavy debt).

I wonder what his supporters think about this.
If you say you want to take the country in a different direction you should show them from a 'map' not just where they are, but where you are leading them.

That is leadership.
You inform, you educate, you inspire.
And the more detailed your submissions the more realistic you can make them and the more 'sellable' they will be.

And even those things that are highly challenging and require sacrifice will be easier to absorb and support than if it fell from heaven.

So this idea in our polity that leaders expect the people to exercise 'faith' is absolutely wrong. Faith concerns the divine. The insurance being that God cannot fail. You however are human, laden with all manner of limitations so you need solidarity to deliver and solidarity runs on the fuel of clear understand of the where, why and how. On clear metrics.
