Brazil playing LAZY footy since 2002. The Japanese are quick and organized. Slowmo will never break them down. |
Fiscus105:Very easy. Enterprise creation for productivity. Industrialization, industrialization, industrialization. |
Oga, the help Nigerians want is a better run economy not handouts. Your principal did not present himself for office on the basis of handouts and Nigerians know that once they start down this line of tokenism the government will feel it has fulfilled it's obligations. That is the concern. So they see such offerings more as bribes rather than concerted governance. A government that just throws money at every problem rather than understanding and application. By the way they better get busy. At a modest rate of inflation of 15 percent that N50,000 loses approximately 86 kobo per hour in real value and since she announced the grant three days ago it is has effectively reduced to round about N49,940. That is the real problem, the real reason why this dog of an economy continues to chase it's tail. Inflation remains too lava hot to boil water to make eba. It just turns to steam and vaporizes if you under what I mean. So let us quit the debate and either quickly start frying beans cakes or just......give us a better economy, that's all. |
And after all the argument I hope this akara phenom will be able to fund the loan repayments they are collecting left and right to build their concrete roads. That is the vision your government has for you. Madam is proposing thrift, Oga is not even talking about job creation anymore. The people are saying just fight Inflation and we will take care of ourselves. You don't need to tell us what to do to survive. |
mablie:They are not fools. Their technologies are the only things that will prolong human life on earth. Technology is the only thing that has enabled this world feed, house, treat, cloth, educate and power itself in the face of escalating population. You can imagine what a China will be without technology, a huge burden to the world. And that is why everyone is adopting technology. |
DomPerignon:But why can't they just use seawater to cool just like the nuclear industry, why must it be freshwater. California is just beside the Pacific, plenty of coolant. Or like Musk intends to do. Take them to space where shadow temperatures are permanently below freezing and where power is free. |
DomPerignon:'Human brain, fly brain'.....c'mon what kind of elephant talk is this. If the human brain was that good, why the need for computers in the first place. Yes, creativity, yes energy efficiency, yes adaptability but you simply cannot match a computer for volumetric processing speed, raw power of thought and action. By the way the Chinese developed AI powered mosquito zapper will soon be on the market to test whether the fly is truly 'fly'. |
Emeskhalifa:Ask Russia. Their heavy lift choppers can even carry tanks, APC's and artillery. In the US helicopters are the mainstay of the logging industry where they transport whole trees. But I think the days of the single rotor vehicles are coming to an end. Quad and multi rotor aircraft is the future. Much safer and easier to fly. |
Shocking to know that the fundamental design of the helicopter together with it's great Achilles Heel - the single rotor system has remained unchanged in more than 100 years. This important lack of redundancy in the face of new technologies particularly the galloping strides in the drone industry makes it hard to understand why it simply cannot be replaced. Sorry for the loss. |
MrPOTUS:'Retailer selling less than manufacturer'.... Very poignant. Such a pity. Three years, a whole three years after Nigerians are yet to understand or feel the effects of the gradual industrialization of that sector. Before noon you will see a defender coming out to tell us how expensive fuel is sold in Mogadishu or Bulawayo. |
What bothers me about this whole thing is that it took the market intervention of importers to open the eyes of Nigerians to lower gasoline prices, twice if I am not mistaken. So it means if we had shut our economy completely to imports price gouging will persist. This is highly, highly disappointing from our local refiners and dangerous to the economy because it will simply give fuel (no pun intended) to those who rather trade than produce, our economic bane for half a century. Too bad. Dangote, please give those who campaign for industrialization, production rather than consumpotion something to work with. |
sleek214:Na so, no more, best thing since sliced btead. Nigerians just do not know what they want and how get what they want. Just ebbing and flowing like the tides. Dangote does some business magic and they will praise him to high heavens and start fighting the regulators just as they did 'yesterday'. Funny people. |
How many times will.I tell.you folks. That there is no plan for economic revival the way you think. For job creation, Inflation and cost of living reduction or productivity for that matter. The craze for tokenism is the ultimate proof that they expect you to adjust to the economic stress and learn to live with your poverty till they leave office. What we have is merely the greatest transfer of resources in the history of this country. From the people to the government. Nigerians have had to literally empty their wallets to give this government. The question now is, to what end. |
Gboss247:But what people are saying is that when crude prices go up, the response is almost instant, gasoline prices sprint after it....so I ask you also....WAS IT REFINED FROM OLD CRUDE.... So your argument is invalid. Moreover gasoline prices have retreated by much .more in other countries. Do your investigation. Do they operate a different kind of capitalism. Anyway this is exactly why I had been incensed when NIGERIANS fought for Dangote to flush out unionism when they know that Dangote is the defacto NNPC refinery, that is a complete monopoly in domestic refining. Unionism amongst many things is A PUBLIC WINDOW into the operations of any organisation or industry as a whole. Through union members the internal workings of a company, the decision making, operational modalities, challenges, advantages, strategic planning, all that stuff leaks out. Making it is more visible on radar. So just as we knew NNPC's refineries were not properly maintained, were not fully operational, were blending rather than refining despite government's denials and coverups so we will have known what makes for the persistent high prices of fuel products the Dangote refinery is churning out. You simply cannot subject a country of 200 million people dependent on one gasoline tap to remain deaf and blind to what is happening. How do you begin to control what you cannot even reach. Dangote has desperately fought to make this a sellers market and with every passing day of victory and the withering of all checks and balances, Nigerians are in for a most uncertain future. |
Why are we all lamenting. Can we go back to a few months ago when marketers were battling for control....when the regulators were battling for control...when the NLC was battling for control. Nigerians took sides with chicken one party and fought all the other three in succession. Visionless Nigerians, sentimental Nigerians, ignorant Nigerians. And yours sincerely. MADE IT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that: Nigerians have removed all the safety devices that make for a safe and secure market driven industry and that whosoever won the battle to control and dominate WILL ENSLAVE EVERYONE ELSE. Those posts are not far. You can all go back and check your collective folly. |
opeldavid:You cannot do much for a people sending mixed messages. POTUS will not risk further damage to his and his government's reputation particularly in this climate of the mideast conflict. Obviously there are folks that are campaigning vigorously to the contrary and it is the citizens that have to sort all that out by themselves. .y |
So what does CAN want. They keep shifting like the sands of the Sahara. One minute they are denying Christian genocide to be one politically correct, the next minute they are accepting there are targeted killings of Christians but foreign intervention is ineffectual. Is CAN part of the problem or the solution or are they like the citizens of Iran who 'pretended' to want liberty only to present themselves enmasse as human shields to the mullahs when the bombs started to rain down. Cry wolf long enough and no one will take you seriously. America should not bother a people who cannot help themselves out of Stockholm Syndrome. |
There is a micro moment, a tiny portal into the psyche of the Nigerian, a faint and distant light in all of the darkness.... ...where the Nigerian has caught a glimpse of reality. The reality of what this country has always been about, a land of them and us, of kings and servants, a feudal state where THEY are expected to rise and rule and WE are expected to serve and sink. How dare you complain that you have no jobs, have no income, have nothing. Can't you crawl, can't you struggle, can't you beg... Because that is the only 'hope' you are going to get. So keep on being hopeful. Keep on 'renewing' your hope. We have nothing else for you. Our promises is that you will adjust to your realities. Folks, to remain sane. Just look elsewhere. It is foolhardy to think you will let them continue driving this vehicle called Nigeria to the place you think they are going. Four years will go, eight years will come and go and you will get nowhere. They have no map, no destination, no means of getting you to the place you think they were taking you. It is all about themselves. |
It appears only Tunisia failed to make it to the next round. An excellent performance by African teams at this stage and a damning indictment of Soccer Nigeria because we know we can be as good as the African sides representing. Makes the whole thing even harder to swallow. |
This is the legacy of the ruling APC. The establishment and institutionalization of poverty and despondency. If anyone had any doubt, this post trying to explain and excuse it has rather affirmed that it was a deliberate policy to subdue the people, strip them of power, of dignity inorder to guarantee their compliance, their obedience. Classic feudalism. |
SonOfDSoil01:That is a storage/management problem, not a solar problem. Decent quality solar panels are totally maintenance free and give no problems whatsoever for a very long time when installed properly. |
Having used solar energy for many years now I can sort of conclude that they both have advantages and disadvantages, inadequacies and strong points. Despite the rapidly advancing technologies on panel capacity the big disadvantage of solar is energy density. It takes so much space to match the output of an average gasoline engine generator thoughtless of a diesel equivalent. In a high density, urban area, this is a big problem. At the moment folks who live in block of flats particularly where the roof structure is not panel friendly (high pitched roofs in the tropics) are not having it easy to share limited spaces available. But all these are insignificant compared to the problems of ICE generators namely noise, emissions and the all too familiar problems of unstable fuel prices. So what I recommend is to invest in solar as a main energy source and have an ICE generator to keep the batteries fresh from time to time and when the climate becomes erratic. |
They have the capacity and together with China will become the only two countries that can singlehandedly host the way FIFA is going. Unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately both countries are at the extreme sides, west and east of the meridian that defines Europe in the north and Africa in the south where football originates, and is most popular. It has been a sheer torture after a hard day's work to wait up all night to watch live matches. For this reason alone, abeg FIFA, may the USA, Australia, China and other far flung places host once in a blue moon. |
Tareq1105:Many months ago I gave a suggested solution that arid and moisture challenged places around the world adopt, dams. Enugu has two significant things going for it. One, it is located in the south so precipitation is not a problem. Two, it is a region of hills and valleys so the physical infrastructure required for water channelization and storage is partly there. Develop a master plan to terra form the state to funnel the water from various locations, storm water, streams, canals and rivers into such a dam for both water supply and electtrcity generation. |
The problem is mentality. The crude mentality of a good number of people who emigrate....economic migrants. Their mindsets are so gripped with poverty that when the opportunities of a society that trades in trust comes by they take with more than both hands just like a destitute invited to buffet. They cannot switch back to an effort and earnings mode (if they ever had one) and the thinking is either one of, if you don't take it now you lose it forever or, take it as compensation for all the years of want. Too bad. |
Ate247:Yeah. This chap knows what he is saying. Some shopping centres will not allow solar battery businesses specifically for this reason. You can imagine if this chap was not at home when the stuff went up. He will be sorting through an ash pile by now. |
obeegee:Will that do anything against a lithium fire....doubt that. The better option is to get a large cooking pot, fill it with water to boil using the fire to make semo for the whole estate.... At least everything is not lost. |
Can you see why I said on the other post that THE FIGHT is for working institutions that are upright, independent and just. If I cannot understand and agree on the way referees are appointed to a game, I cannot see the point in competing. I will want to ask the average citizen, why vote. Is it because you expect the autocrat to reform....to 'unautocrat' himself....will he do that....no. So they 'go get you PVC'.... All it does in this scenario is to 'legitimize' the process that is crooked. That is why they say, 'Go to court'. Which referee says, 'Go to FIFA'. So the battle is not in the election field or over the short weeks of election season. It is in between. Because once that biased referee blows his whistle to start the game, it is too late, it is all.....over. |
Nice. That is a small armoury. More guns than I used to clean up over the weekend in those days. That funny smell of sulphur and lube that can never leave you. |
ppogba:Don't 'personalise' things. 2 & 3. These debates we have are not about individuals, not about you and me. We have no influence whatsoever as person's. When I speak on this forum I generally speak to the collective. So using the pronoun, 'you' can apply to me, you or anyone in the audience out there who stumbles on this post. Now, 1. Everyone knows budget recklessness is simply horse trading between the two arms. An agreement to be profligate like you have when a corrupt policemen let's you through for a fee. Once again it falls in line with what I am saying. The referee and the player or two teams in a game should not be paid by the same company or there is NO COMPETITION. If WE paid THEM, and THEY are as poor as us, they will as incensed as us at graft, waste and mismanagement. It is not rocket science that referees that are paid by the 'less wealthy' FA have little regards for the players they supervise. You need a certain level, a tiny bit of 'dislike' to hold accountable. It is incumbent on every citizen to fight, fight, fight for the independence of institutions, most especially the Constitutional institutions that our democracy rests on, the three legs. In other climes this battle is fierce and unrelenting because the results s of doing nothing is autocracy and in our case in Africa the fuel that feeds the threat of military rule. Institutions DONOT REFORM THEMSELVES. |
ppogba:Hmm...citizens of this country....honestly....there is no way out of this mess. The Legislature that is captured by the Executive will now make laws according to you to weaken the institution it has used to govern without checks and balances....on your behalf....I just laugh. Oga. If you as a people will not wisen up and fight for yourselves the so called ruling class will continue to perpetuate injustice. So please see this in real perspective. Your favorite may be President today, the person you don't like may become president tomorrow and then you will wish you had more control over the government. When people advocate for good governance through institutional reforms and a culture of accountability, they are playing the long game. Democracy only works well if there isn't a person, an arm of government or any institution for that matter that is beyond control. If you cannot control a thing on this earth it is automatically an existential threat particularly if it has a mind of it's own. The institutions you refuse to build and position properly, putting them in their place today will become an albatross tomorrow. |
