I know. Seems Nigerian languages wont last the next century
Those poor souls in the village who have not grasped a foreign language will shortly be holding the shorter end of the stick. The majority language always wins.

U may as well hold ur TV and start twisting till the volume is down.

when it comes to TV or radio, u tune! U don't turn! U tune to a station, u tune the volume, u tune its menu, u tune! U don't turn!

U turn ur tap open, u turn ur table upside down! U don't turn down the volume of a TV set. U tune down!

The word tune means set! When u tune the volume, u set the volume down!
Oga. The expression 'Turn down the volume' is correct. It simply means to lower the intensity. Sound, heat, vibration, etc. Anything under control can be turned 'on, off, up, down, around, inside out, back and forth...' can I go on....

They just want to feel good that they can speak English

I blame Nigerian secondary schools for not teaching many Nigerian languages grin seriously. I would have had A1 in Itsekiri and not F9 in Yoruba
And what profit is there in an Itsekiri language distinction. An itsekiri only blog. Pally the world is consolidating languages and cultures around superpowers. You are swimming against the tide.

Hmmm. 'Centuries to came...'. Okay oh.

Another example of "oversabi" and "smartass" gramarian grammar Nazi.

"tune down" is actually logically inconsistent.

You "tune" to a station but you don't "tune" down the volume. Tune applies to frequency and not volume

It actually makes more sense to "turn" the volume down. One actually has to "turn" the volume knob down to reduce the volume
Ouch!!! ....may my airbag never deploy accidentally.

Okay. No problem. Stop communicating in english (reading, writing or speaking) and see how it goes. By the end of the week you'd either be in prison, an asylum or in intensive care.

We are not from england yet we find delight in over speaking english.

How many of us can write in our native language?
We are Nigerian and speak english. That is our language not some local dialect that does nothing but breed tribalism, ethnic divisions and every evil that has plagued this country. If I had my way tribe and all its associates will be expunged from the Constitution. We battle to keep the white man out as if we are united a home.

Mister. This is simply ridiculous. How can you be paying only N 16,000 for a college degree. Are you not concerned that you are toying with your future and exposing your prospects to quackery. Please we should begin to relate cost to quality to reality in this country. I will be concerned if a primary school fee is N 16,000 thoughtless of a degree awarding institution.

As much as there're lots of people that bathe with sponges, have also come across people who don't bathe with sponges.

Quite a close friend of mine recently told me he doesn't bathe with sponge and I never knew all this while,he just gently rubs his preferred soap on his body and then washes it off with water,I was like I can never bathe without using a sponge, guess everybody's used to what they tend to always do.

But bathing with a sponge & without a sponge, which is better? Some say bathing with a sponge is better because it kind of removes more dirts by its scrubbing technique, but most foreign movies I watch,in scenes of an individual taking a bath I hardly see the individual using a sponge,it's like some use soap and some don't even use it at all, just showering, however the case may be,I will always go for sponges, how do you take your own bath?
Pally what are you scrubbing off. Are you a diesel engine mechanic or cement transloader. If not, like me soap alone does just fine. With more grime simply use soaps that are a bit more caustic with less oils.

Keshi should have quit after that WC in my own opinion.
Yes. He should have. We don't have structures to ensure long term performance. The best we can get for now are these 'flash in the pan' experiences. For a coach to stay beyond a tournament he needs a fooball house with solid foundations. This is where perhaps Keshi is right. It is not entirely his fault but the reality is likened to why Nigerians drive SUV's a lot, bad roads. A non existent institution cannot support long term planning.

What happened to promoting the non-commissioned officers carrying their rusted AK-47 (provided by the military) on the front line? Those guys should be promoted too because they are the ones actually fighting and not the commissioned officers.
Yet another. Officers fight at all levels up to Brigade status. Let us put it this way. You will only cease direct engagement with the enemy in battle once you become a 'red neck'. Every soldier, airman and sailor below that is put directly in harm's way just like the NCO's. The airforce is even more exclusive, only officers fly choppers and jets. Once again, in battle, the officers are at more risk of capture or kill because they hold more information and are responsible for planning and directing battlefield engagements. They have to be twice as competent as NCO's to survive and thrive.

So Captains and Majors donot engage in battle and don't face the enemy. Who leads these NCO's then mister. Before posting please just check up the 'organogram' of a typical armed formation. From sections right to battalions no NCO leads any team into battle. All formations are led and controlled by officers except when such officers are KIA then the most S/NCO can fill the gap temporarily. Be informed. In battle the prime targets are always the officers. Get them offline and destabilize/paralyse command and control.
