Historically, the name Nigeria was formed from phrase "Niger area" with respect to River Niger by Flora Shaw, Lord Lugard's girl friend.

With so much resistance the rebels are having, even with enormous air raids, obviously the world powers are about to overthrow a legitimate government for few disgruntle elements, so Nigeria should watch out. They can as well overthrow FGN for MEND.
PoliticsRe: Lagos State Governorship Debate On Stv by Remii(m): 8:03pm On Mar 29, 2011
Other debaters gave themselves away with their lack of preparation and information, but the panelist were less than professional. They, especially Agbakoba, acted like working for ACN. The moderator had to call Fasola with full accolades everytime while he was either mixing up names of other contestants.

Dosumu was rellying on false information, claiming that Rivers have IPP in TransAmadi, IPP that Odili used generator to deceive OBJ during commissioning.  grin Another one would construct metro line in 1 year with foreign investors assistance, while he does not have idea of how much that would cost, he would charge toll on the metroline but he would demolish the Lekki Toll gates. lol.

British reporters are one of a kind. See how the bloke analyzed how tax payers money has been spent so far: grin grin grin

THE COST OF THE WAR

TORNADO

There are usually four Tornados in each sortie. The total cost of flying time there and back per plane is up to £210,000. Each aircraft is equipped with Storm Shadow missiles. These cost around £500,000 each - so if each plane fires two missiles the cost is £4million. So the total cost of one four Tornado sortie is almost £5million.

OTHER COSTS

Other British assets in play include C17 and C130 Hercules transport planes at £42,000 and £12,000 per flying hour. E3D Sentry AWACS radar aircraft scan the skies for enemy planes, at £33,000 an hour. Frigates HMS Cumberland and HMS Westminster cost £90,000-a-day to run.

SUBMARINE

Trafalgar class sub HMS Triumph has been firing Tomahawk Cruise missiles from the Med. The sub costs £200,000 a day to run and each missile costs £500,000, with up to 10 fired so far.

TYPHOON

There are 10 £70 million Typhoon jets which are new and cost more to run than Tornados. They fly at 65,000ft, at twice the speed of sound and costs per mission are as high as £350,000 per jet.
that is spending analysis of a counrty that has been cutting "this" cutting "that" in the name of poor economy, they really like Africans well, infact they are in love with Africans. They want to save Civilians my backside, they should tell that to the marines.

some words are difficult for some people in some areas to pronounce.

With all due respects, not mocking any tribe:

Lagos kids have problem with "r" "oi e o pe" instead of "ori e o pe".
Ibadan have theirs with "sh" that is why you hear jokes like , kini soo (show) soo suo (show sure)
Delta (Urhobo in particular) don't call "L" well, they call "Nateef" instead of Lateef
Hausa /Fulani cant call "P" , "feople" instead of people.
Some Calabar guys call "Younson" instead of Johnson

so its just accents,

Comparing this to Iraq is misleading. The bombing there was a prelude to a ground invasion and that's not the case here. Militarily, some infrastructure has to be reduced when preparing for a gorund invasion whereas in this case, it is not necessary. As I have previously stated: the West had already secured Libyan supplied of oil. By backing the rebels they are in a Catch22. They risk losing deals if the rebels win and they risk losing deals if Gadaffi wins. If oil were the issue it would have made perfect sense to sit back and let Gaddafi murder his people.

I've read links like the one you've provided there. They are also misleading. What they fail to tell you is that the US has been weaning itself off Middle Eastern oil for over a decade. It's main provider is Canada from which alone the US imports more than twice what it gets from the whole of the Middle East.
I still have my doubt that there would be no ground troops deployment. How do you a war with air strikes alone. unless you level the whole area. There eventually be something like "UN Monitoring or Peace Keeping " whatever.

I think enforcing "no Fly Zone" should mean ensure "nothing flies", why are all the war planes in the world heading towards Libya , flying over the country freely and dropping bombs over so called targets, killing innocent souls. One would think that they would shoot down Gadaffi plane if they tried to break the "no fly rule". Arab leaders have been deceived again with "Oyinbo".

Diesel is now N165 per liter from N105 some weeks ago. This is happening in a country where there is no adequate power supply. Most businesses are now spending almost half of their revenue buying diesel alone. Grandmas in the villages have resulted to cooking with coal and woods since buying kerosene would take 75% of stipends from their kids.
The trick Government is using is to keep Petrol at N65 and do whatever with other petroleum products, since they know that PMS is the only one that people make noise about.

Bode George's Reception: Celebration of Criminality • 'I Was Tricked To Attend'
| Print | E-mail
Saturday, 05 March 2011

FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday said that he was tricked to attend a reception organised for former chairman of the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Chief Olabode George, who was recently released from prison.

Obasanjo, who is the chairman, Board of Trustees, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), added that his attendance at the reception was in error and described it as celebration of criminality.

The former president said this while speaking with newsmen shortly after attending a  lecture organised to mark his birthday, held at his Hilltop Mansion, Abeokuta.

Obasanjo stated that the ex-convict did not “conduct himself properly”  when he was serving as the chairman of the  NPA.

He admitted that George went to prison for criminal offence which should be condemned.

I was not part of the celebration of Bode George’s release. And let’s get a few things right. When Bode George went to prison, the first thing that I did was to find out things from his lawyer, what really went wrong. What the lawyer told me was not what I found eventually. And what I found out eventually was that as far as I am concerned, Bode George did not conduct himself properly in the task that he had been given.

“And having done that, both as an elder statesman and elderly man to Bode George and as his senior in the armed forces and as his former head of state, I have my job in putting him right.

“He sent a passionate message to me from prison, urging me to attend a family church thanksgiving.  I believe that  any family that is giving thanks in the church or in the mosque whether it is for marriage, for burial, house warming or christening a child  and he invites me, if  I am able to go there, I will go there. But when I got to the church, the atmosphere I found was more than a family affair.

“I even took the opportunity to ask the state PDP chairman that, is this a PDP affair? He told me it was not a PDP affair because I don’t see why PDP as a national party, as a party that is trying to form a government in Lagos State, as a party that formed government at the national level and in at least 27 states in the country, should be celebrating criminality.

“When I asked the state chairman, he said ‘well; you know Area Boys do hijack this thing.’ I said if it is Area Boys, leave it to the Area Boys and not to PDP.

“The reason Bode went to prison should be condemned by everybody and I have condemned it, but he did not go to prison for political offence. If he had been sent to prison for political offence, then he comes back,  all his political associates may get round him and PDP must do something noble and wholesome, but in this case, PDP as a party must dissociate itself from celebrating criminality,” he said.

On the crisis within the party and the recent pronouncement of the Federal High Court in Abuja that Chief Adetunji Olurin was the gubernatorial candidate, Obasanjo noted that the party in the state remained one big family.

He said that he had informed Olurin to constitute reconciliation committee to settle all misunderstandings within members of the party.

He said: “Don’t forget that PDP is a family; there may be a little misunderstanding but we have to go to court for adjudication. The court adjudicates but as soon as possible, the family should come together and forge ahead.

“PDP nationally is a family; zonally is a family; state-wise  is a family; local government wise, is a family; so the members in Ogun State should put behind them whatever might be their bone of contention.  I am the chairman of BOT of  PDP.

“As the chairman of BOT, I am supposed to be the conscience of the party. Whatever be the rift, I am supposed to find amicable settlement. I have done it in other states, why not in my state?

“I have told Olurin to extend his hand of fellowship to other people. I have told him to set up a reconciliation committee even before the court ruled.”

Politics and politicisation of opponent comments

In Lagos Obasanjo sang in Yoruba that he would not accept an election where his party did not win ( Lau erebe erebe lau Obasanjo ko ni gba k'a d'ibo k'ama wole o, Lau erebe erebe lau ) some people said he meant "do or die".

In Rivers Abiye Sekibo made a slip of tongue saying he would provide adequate security that would make people sleep with their two eyes open, that has become a major hitting point on Radio Rivers for PDP

In Ibadan, Jonathan used the word "rascal" recklessly.

Now Buhari advising people to protect their vote as much as possible is being overblown out of proportion, na wa for politics.
