Mr Kyari also clarified that 42,000 metric tonnes of grains earmarked for distribution to vulnerable households would be at no cost.

“The 42,000 metric tonnes of food from the national food reserves is free,” he clarified. “We’re trying to crash down the prices of food and make it available.”

“So these 42,000 metric tonnes of food will be given to the needy free of charge. It would go directly to the needy at no cost at all.

“What I will not do is to set a price control board. I will not also approve the importation of food,” Tinubu said at a meeting with 36 state governors.
He is well-known to make careless and mistimed moves, then secretly reverse them when they backfire.

Don't import food, but be importing petrol and gas you hear.

Jennyclay:
first of all, these farmers don’t have the necessary heavy machinery equipment that can remove sand/stones from their rice undecided and the government don’t want to help them to improve so you won’t blame them undecided

Foreign rice will always be better than our local rice, but that doesn’t mean our local rice isn’t good. If you have time to remove the stones/sand then you can enjoy it.
from what I understand during the parboiling process, the stone usually settle down in the containers but they still somehow find themselves into the final rice because nobody wants to lost any measure of rice.
Food › Re: Checkout The Rice I Bought In A Local Kaduna Market by RepoMan007: 3:22pm On Feb 15, 2024
Jennyclay:
I know this rice, it’s nice but it has some little stones/sand in it. If you want to prepare it, first of all per-boil the rice, then you wash and filter it properly (like 6 times).
I wonder why a seller can't remove stones. No value addition. They just buy from bush market and are after killer profit. That's why they can't export it far away.

NO, you don't other wise you won't be abusing me all day long, like you do here.

You want subsidy.. Better admit it. I have no reason to make fun of you for that, because it shows you are concerened for people's suffering. I see the other side of the coin, the fact that money is too low, and talk otherwise.

I also think corruption is evil and has to be stopped.
You are well known to reply to assumptions you made up in your head so can sound intelligent irrespective of reality.
If corruption can remain, let subsidy remain too. That's my position.

Which SMEs?
stop acting ignorant. Those cheap forexes given to Dangote could have been given to small businesses to also import machineries.

Dangote has loan to repay in dollars also and must have considered that to sell to Intl buyers who can pay him forex.
What FG should push for is for Dangote to at least take Nigerian crude at prevailing rate and sell part of his refined product locally to reduce forex demands in govt. That's the best the government can get from him.
