Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is now left with 29 players from which to select his team for the 2018 World Cup, after Moses Simon was ruled out of the tournament as a result of an injury.

Simon, who plays for Belgian Jupiler League side, Gent, will not feature in Monday’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, nor the subsequent game against England on June 2.

Rohr confirmed the development to Premium Times in Port Harcourt.

“It is unfortunate Moses Simon will not be travelling with the team on Tuesday because he is down with an injury.

“The nature of his injury is such that he won’t be recovering quickly enough to make the World Cup,” Rohr said.

Meanwhile, the German coach will drop four more players from the squad after the game against DR Congo

Popular Nollywood actor and producer Afeez Owo is married to actress Mide Martins,and they just celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.

In a new chat with Sunday Scoop, the celebrated thesepian opened up on the factors that almost affected his marriage sometime ago.

Recall that sometime in 2016, his wife claimed on social media that her husband had abandoned her and the kids.

Afeez Owo wo didn’t try to run away from the crisis that once rocked his marriage. But, according to him, his wife took the wrong advice from friends who wanted to cause havoc in their home.

The film-maker said:

“There will always be challenges in a home but it depends on how you handle them. Friends nearly ruined our marriage; my wife was wrongly advised. As we speak, she still regrets all those things she did or said. Couples will always fight, but they don’t need to let their neighbours know about it. We’ve made our mistakes and we have learnt from it. We don’t pray for that anymore.”

Despite being a Muslim, Owo said he would never marry more than one wife as he didn’t want trouble for himself:

“My father did not try to marry many wives because he was a peaceful person and I take after him in that regard. Though the Quran permits us to marry more than a wife, I am not interested in it. It will bring more problems for me and I don’t want it,” he stated.

On how he met his actress wife, he said:

“God just said she would be my wife. When my ex-girlfriend cheated on me then, she was one of the people who begged on her behalf but I had already made up my mind. It was after a while I started dating Mide. We have been married for 17 years. I have known my wife for 25 years. My wife is like my mother and I love her so much. She also sees me as her father.”

Ibrahim Okunola, the husband of late Nollywood actress Aisha Abimbola aka ‘Omoge Campus’, has said that although he was separated from her for seven years, he never divorced her.

Abimbola’s remains were laid to rest in Canada last week, although her colleagues in the movie industry back home held a service of songs and prayer session for her back home.

But speaking with The Punch, Okunola, who is also an actor, said his long-term separation from his late wife fuelled rumours that he had divorced her.

He said the insinuations making the rounds were misleading and erroneous.

Okunola said, “It is a lie that we had divorced. We had not lived together for about seven years but we were still legally married till she died. The reason we were separated is a family issue. I would miss her till I die because she was a virtuous mother and a go-getter. I gave her the nickname, Magic Aisha because she had a way of achieving her dreams and goals. She was someone that would give you her shoulder to lean on and her listening ears no matter what you are going through. Even when she was not in my house again, if I had any issue in life, I always called her.”

Senior National Team of the Democratic Republic of Congo, otherwise known as Simba including Africa's most expensive footballer Cedric Bakambu, flew into Port Harcourt on Thursday night ahead of Monday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Send Forth encounter with the Super Eagles.

Reports coming out of various sources close to the camp of the Super Eagles of Nigeria suggest that Kelechi Nwakali has been added to the World Cup squad of Nigeria for the 2018 showpiece in Russia.

Nwakali according to unconfirmed reports will train with the squad as a means of aiding his development and not necessarily for him to break into the World Cup team as he is not in the 30 man provisional list for the World Cup.

Unconfirmed reports has it that his display against Atletico Madrid prompted coach Gernot Rohr to add him to his squad as part of the process of integrating him into the team for their post World Cup commitments.

Rohr was impressed with the technique Nwakali used in scoring one of the two goals for Nigeria and above all his passing range during the entire duration of the game which ended 2-3 in favour of Atletico Madrid.

He can only be part of the team if one of the players in the provisional list picks up an injury ruling him out of the World Cup before the start of the tournament in June.

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has joined his teammates in camp and was welcomed by his colleague, Kenneth Omeruo in a special way.

The Tianjin TEDA midfielder was almost the last player to join the Super Eagles team that will be playing against DR Congo in an international friendly in Port Harcourt on Sunday. Though only one player is yet to join the squad and that's Victor Moses.

Upon joining the camp in Uyo, the Super Eagles captain was exceptionally welcomed by Kenneth Omeruo who tagged the former Chelsea man "legend" his upon arrival.

Somalian refugee, 24, makes history as the first Muslim female referee in the UK - and she’s already set her sights on monitoring Champions League matches
A young woman has made history by becoming the first female Muslim referee in the UK.

Jawahir Roble, 24, known as JJ, who moved from Somalia to the UK with her family as a child, is currently in her second full season as a Football Association-registered official.
After starting her IT studies at university, JJ made the decision to dedicate herself to becoming a professional referee, after being asked to referee in a local girls' league in North West London as a teenager.
JJ, who is 5ft4ins tall, said that her presence on the pitch was initially met with 'giggles' from some players, and that it took her a while to command respect, but that now she couldn't be happier in her role - and hopes to one day judge Premiership andChampions League matches.
JJ, who said stepping on to the pitch gives her a feeling of 'pure happiness', said she's determined to show girls they can 'do whatever they want'.

'Of course, football is not in my culture, no. But you know, I am here to break the stereotypes. Girls can play football, girls can do whatever they want.'

Her journey hasn't been easy, and Jawahir, known as 'JJ', has had to battle to break stereotypical attitudes both from footballers and her community
'My religion, it is part of me, and I love it,' JJ said.

'It is just being a good person, being modest and doing what makes you happy and I think I am doing all of that, but when people start mixing culture with religion, that's when it gets confusing because some cultures are super strict, and people mistake it for religion.'

Street hop crooner ‘Legbegbe’ Mr. Real, told Saturday Beats that the road to stardom was not rosy. He revealed that his family members advised him against pursuing a career in music.

He said, “I have been doing music for over 10 years now. But you know in life when it is not your time, there is nothing you can do about it. All this while, I have been working and waiting on God for a breakthrough. Once God says it is your time to shine, no man on earth can stop you from shining. Before my song, ‘Legbegbe,’ I was only doing free shows. But it is a different story now.

“There was no time I thought of leaving music despite the pressure I was getting from my family members then. For me, music is part of my existence as a human and there is nothing else I can do better than music. When I was not making money from music and things looked stagnant, my father wanted me to try other things. It was a serious issue at home. I cannot blame my father because he wanted the best for me; I am his first child. But I insisted that it was music or nothing. It was not easy to stay focused as I got frustrated by my family members. At a time, I stopped visiting family members because they were always advising me to find something better. To them, I was wasting my time and it was high time I tried other things. I felt it was better I stop visiting because I didn’t want to leave music.”

Sadly, his father died last year and could not witness the success his son had achieved through his music career. The singer said that it was one of the regrets he has had to live with in life. “My father is no more; he died last year. I feel bad that he is not alive to see my growth in the music industry, but I am certain he would be happy for me. My mother died years ago too. But I have six younger siblings to look after. Though my parents are dead, other family members, who wanted me to quit music, can at least see that my consistency has finally paid off. Once you believe in yourself, the sky is your limit and nothing can stop you,” he said.
