It took eight minutes for the former Real Madrid star to score his first ever Juventus goal

Ronaldo started his life at Juventus with a bang by netting the opener against their U19 side in a friendly on Sunday.

Going into the match Juventus fans were all smiles and dancing and were not disappointed as the fans saw what they wanted; Ronaldo’ debut goal.

Paulo Dybala stole some of Ronaldo’s thunder by adding a quick fire brace before half-time as Juventus went into the break in complete control.

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh isn’t too pleased with Arik Air and she has taken to social media to call them out, tagging them destiny killers.

She took to her Instagram page to share a photo of her boarding pass with Arik Air. She complained that her flight which was scheduled for 10:30am was changed to 6pm, even after delaying the flight for one hour.

Arsene Wenger was sacked by Arsenal, says Jack Wilshere, with that decision stunning everybody at the club and leading the midfielder to make his own summer exit.

The long-serving Frenchman announced in April that he would be vacating the position in north London that he had held for 22 years.

At the time, Wenger said: “After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.”

Wilshere has now suggested that the three-time Premier League title winner was forced into that decision, rather than it being mutually agreed.

The England international told Football Focus on that decision, which came as he was weighing up his own options in the final year of his deal: “I was in the last year of my contract, and I spoke with the manager at the time, Arsene Wenger.

“And he said that they won’t be offering me a new deal and that I could leave.

“But at the time I was injured and it was difficult, because I wasn’t fit and I wasn’t playing, and not many teams wanted me injured.

“So I decided to stay and I got back into the team and they finally offered me a deal in January which was ready to sign, and then Arsene got sacked.

“It was strange, everyone was just shocked and Per Mertesacker, the captain, said a few words, and I think everyone was just in shock.

“It was strange. No-one really saw it coming, but it changed everything, and I wanted to wait to speak to the new manager.

“And I did, and he was brilliant, he was honest with me.

“He said you can stay, but you won’t be in my starting XI, so I thought it was the right time to finally leave.”

With the managerial baton having passed to Unai Emery, Wilshere found himself on the fringes of Arsenal’s long-term plans.

The 26-year-old opted to walk away as a result, with a 17-year association with the Gunners brought to a close.

After dropping into the free agent pool, the all-action midfielder crossed London to sign for West Ham on a three-year contract.

Former Real Madrid striker, Ronaldo De Lima, is reportedly in intensive care in an Ibiza hospital, after coming down with pneumonia.

The 41-year-old Brazilian is said to have been diagnosed with the illness, after being rushed to Can Misses Hospital on the island.

Respected island daily, Diario de Ibiza, said he had asked for a transfer to a private hospital called Clinica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, just before midnight on Friday day.

It quoted hospital sources as saying he was still in intensive care but he was making good progress.

Staff at Can Misses Hospital said they were unable to give out any information for “data protection reasons.”

Ronaldo owns a house in Ibiza and is a regular visitor to the island.

The 2018-19 Spanish Super cup is in danger of being boycotted and abandoned by Sevilla, who have threatened to withdraw from the match – that is expected to be played today – should their opponents, Barcelona, field what they deem “an improper lineup” made up of too many non-European Union players.


The limit for non-EU players for La Liga fixtures is three. The same limit was previously applied to — or, at least thought to have been — the Supercopa, which pits the previous season’s league and Copa del Rey winners against one another.

Since Barcelona won both trophies last season, Copa runners-up Sevilla are slated to face the Blaugrana in Tangier, Morocco.

But the Spanish football federation announced on Saturday that there were no restrictions on non-EU players as it classed the game as “not professional”.



However, Sevilla on Saturday released the following statement:

“Sevilla FC is surprised by the Spanish football federation’s statement 24 hours before the Supercopa.


“It has been stated that as many non-EU players as desired can be registered. In their last notice for the 18-19 season, only three were due to be permitted, without exception.

“The club’s legal department is studying the matter and should FC Barcelona submit a team with more than three non-EU players, it would present possible ground for withdrawal on account an improper lineup.”

Barcelona are expected to have three non-EU players in their squad on Sunday: new signings Malcom, Arturo Vidal and Arthur. Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Uruguay’s Luis Suarez both have EU citizenship.

The problem appears to lie with Philippe Coutinho, who may still be listed as a non-EU player.

Levante sign Moses Simon on five-year deal
Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has joined Levante from KAA Gent on a five-year deal.

Simon, who was previously linked with a move to Liverpool, was signed for £4.5 million.

The Spanish football club announced Simon’s signing via Twitter on Monday.

“Welcome to #LevanteUD, @Simon27Moses,” Levanted tweeted.


The 23-year-old attacker has made 20 appearances for the Super Eagles since his debut against Uganda on March 25, 2015.

He scored his first goal for Nigeria in an international friendly against Niger on September 8, 2015.

Simon was named in Nigeria’s preliminary 30-man squad for the 2018 World Cup but he did not make the final 23 due to injury.

Nigerian will now be in charge of the Taifa Stars and will attempt to get their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has been named the new head coach of Tanzania.

The 47-year-old signed a two-year deal to take over from Salum Mayanga who was shown the way out for poor results.

His first priority will be to get the Taifa Stars’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign back on track after a faulty start.

The east Africans are third in Group L having being held to a 1-1 home draw by Lesotho at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Before the appointment of the 1994 African Player of the Year, Tanzania had hired and parted ways with four different coaches since 2014.

Amuneke will make his bow when Tanzania face Uganda in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash on September 7, 2018.

Some days ago, former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye, revealed that his first nights in Lagos were spent under a bridge.

Giving further details to Sunday Scoop, Okoye said, “I had my first album done in Jos in 1995 and all the friends around me told me that it was good and record labels would pay me good money for it. As a result of that, I took a flight of N2000 from Jos to Lagos in search of a record label that would pay me for the album. I went with two empty Ghana-must-go bags because I expected that they would pay me a lot of money.


Even though I didn’t know anybody there, I went to Ivory Music to see the talent manager. But when I got to the company, they told me that he was on leave and I would have to come back the next week. That’s when reality dawned on me because I hadn’t planned on how I was going to get back to Jos. From there, I went to the Ijora motor park hoping to take a bus back to Jos. On getting there, I found out that the bus fare was N600. I didn’t have that money so I ended up sleeping under the bridge. Being that my mother was a prophetess in Jos; once in a while, I ran into people who knew her and they gave me some money.

From there, I was able to get an attachment bus ticket, which meant I had to stand all through the trip from Lagos to Jos. After that experience, I still went back to Ivory Music two months after. It was then I met Zaaki Azzay and he shared his experience with me. The songs on my album were purely hip hop and he advised me to infuse some Nigerian flavour into it to make it more marketable.

When I eventually met the talent manager, a certain Mr. Morgan, he collected the tape and told me to come back in two weeks’ time. Meanwhile, I didn’t have a place to stay for that period so I had to squat at Bright Chimezie’s boys’ quarters with his friends at Ogba area of the state. When I went back to Mr. Morgan after two weeks, he didn’t recognise me. At that point, I was frustrated and I told them to give me back my tape. Still, I didn’t give up and I released my songs in Jos.

I became a local champion because the songs were popular then. From there, I decided that maybe a music career wasn’t meant for me and I focused on my kid brothers. Then, they were just dancers and weren’t known as P-Square. I wouldn’t say I sacrificed my career for them because it wasn’t working for me anyway.”

Continuing, he said, “At a point, I also went into Nollywood and I worked with people such as Jim Iyke and Ramsey Nouah. P-Square even made cameo appearances in some of my movies then.”

Stating that he is not ready to sign any artistes for now, Jude said, “Signing artistes is what every established entertainment entity should be doing. However, the calibre of up and coming artistes that we have today are just after being famous. They don’t even want to know whether they have what it takes to stand the test of time or not; they just want the money. Nobody wants to pay the price. I’m not saying that everybody should go through what I went through but there is a price to pay. But people just want to jump into the studio and buy big houses and cars. They then go on social media to rubbish the efforts of the people that helped them. Those are the things that discourage people. For someone like me with the reputation I’ve built, I don’t think I would let any up and coming artiste mess me up. I am not ready to sign any artiste for now.”

On whether he has hopes for a P-Square reconciliation, Okoye said, “I don’t want to talk about that. I have not made any comment on that in years and that is my decision.”

Commenting on the deal he signed with his former artiste, Cynthia Morgan, Okoye said, “I really don’t want to talk about anything that is behind me. I signed her and when her deal expired, we all went our separate ways.”

Speaking on his current projects, he said, “What I am doing now has nothing to do with entertainment. I am going to live and die in entertainment so I am not leaving the industry but the mistake I made was to make entertainment my major source of livelihood. Now, I am trying to change that.”

Alex Iwobi has signed a new contract at Arsenal, the club has announced.

Iwobi joined Arsenal at the age of 9, and had been rumoured to leave the club this summer after the arrival of Unai Emery.

Iwobi is not guaranteed a first-team place, but at the age of 22 has now committed to continuing his career at his boyhood club.

“I’m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us,” Emery said.

“He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the Academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad.”


“It’s always been my childhood dream to represent Arsenal,” Iwobi told Arsenal’s official website.

“To get an extended contract is an amazing feeling and I hope I’m doing the Arsenal family proud, as well as my family.

Argentina have named current under-17 coach, Lionel Scaloni, as interim head coach for upcoming friendlies against Guatemala and Colombia.

Scaloni replaces former manager, Jorge Sampaoli, who stood down last month after a disappointing 2018 FIFA World Cup in which Argentina were eliminated by France 4-3 in the round of 16.

“After a meeting of the Executive Committee, Lionel Scaloni will coach the future friendlies along with his assistants Pablo Aimar and Martin Tocalli,” the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said in a statement on Friday.

Argentina have had three different men in charge since Alejandro Sabella resigned in 2014 after taking the team to the finals of the World Cup. The South Americans lost to Germany in extra time.

The two-time World Champions meet Guatemala in Los Angeles on Sept 7 and then face Colombia in New Jersey four days later.

Roma president James Pallotta has joked that the club still want to sign Lionel Messi. The Serie A club named Francesco Calvo as its new chief revenue officer after he left Barcelona for the Italians.

Roma remain furious that they missed out on Brazilian winger Malcom after he joined the La Liga champions at the 11th hour.

The Italian club said in the aftermath: “Yesterday Barcelona apologised for the Malcom transfer but we do not accept their apologies unless they sell us Messi.”


And on Thursday, Pallotta quipped: “This changes nothing. We still want Messi!”

Chelsea star has signed a new deal to remain with the Premier League club for another season, according to report.

Pedro has signed a year extension contract extension, that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The Spanish joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2015 and he has made 131 appearances and scored 28 goals for Stamford Bridge outfit.

Pedro has won one Premier League title and one FA Cup title for Chelsea since his arrival in 2015.

He told the club's official website: "It is very good for me, I am really happy here in the club, with my team-mates, the supporters and the club in general.


It's important for me to continue with Chelsea, I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies.

"I want to help the team, score goals, and I repeat, I am really happy."

Dembele is believed to be concerned for his future at Barcelona after the Spanish giants spent £36.5million on Malcom, while he had a mixed first season at Camp Nou under Ernesto Valverde. He is currently on holiday after winning the World Cup with France, though has dropped a few hints on social media that have got Arsenal supporters very excited.

He has liked a number of Arsenal pictures on Instagram and last week responded to a post from Alex Iwobi of him getting the better of Alexandre Lacazette in training.

Reports also claim he remains in contact with Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat following their time together at Dortmund. And now Dembele has been pictured enjoying dinner at Aubameyang’s home in London alongside three more Arsenal stars.

Aubameyang’s father uploaded a snap to Instagram on Thursday evening of his son alongside Dembele, Lacazette, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matteo Guendouzi.

Dembele played alongside Aubameyang at Dortmund and struck up a strong relationship, while he knows Lacazette from their time together with the French national team. Predictably, the sight of Dembele – who cost Barca £97million plus add-ons just a year ago – alongside so many Arsenal players sent fans into a meltdown.

Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, has left Leicester City’s camp in Austria, to seal a big money move to Saudi Arabia side, Al Nassr.

According to his representative, the Premier League side has accepted a fee of £14.8m with several add-ons, which will see the deal rise to as high as £25m.

“He will arrive Saudi Arabia tomorrow morning. A fee was agreed yesterday but he had to tidy some of his belongings before heading out to Saudi Arabia. The deal is too good to turn down,” his representative told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“Al Nassr are getting him at his prime. He has regained his confidence at the World Cup with Nigeria and towards the end of last season he was one of the key men for CSKA Moscow during his loan spell,” he added.

Former Arsenalmidfielder Samir Nasri has had his doping ban extended from six to 18 months by UEFA.

This was made known on Wednesday by the European football’s governing body.

Nasri was suspended for six months in February after receiving an intravenous drip treatment at a Los Angeles clinic in 2016, contravening World Anti-Doping Agency rules.

Everton have announced the signing of Richarlison from Watford.


The 21-year-old Brazilian has joined for an undisclosed fee after agreeing to commit to a five-year contract.

Mesut Ozil has announced his retirement from international football.

The Arsenal midfielder, 29, was made the scapegoat for Germany's World Cup disaster this summer in Russia, as the 2014 winners of the tournament failed to make it out of their group following two defeats and a win.

Spanish Supercup will be held outside Spain for the first time this year after the RFEF confirmed plans to stage the match in Tangier, Morocco.
La Liga and Copa del Rey champions Barcelona will take on Sevilla, the cup runners-up, in the traditional curtain raiser for the season on Aug. 12, with a kickoff time of 9 p.m. CET at the 45,000-capacity Tangier Stadium.



Sevilla had rejected the proposal made by both Barca the federation (RFEF) to play the Supercup as a single game and instead wanted a two-legged affair as it has always been the case since the competition’s creation in 1982.
With no agreement reached between the clubs, the RFEF’s executive committee ruled that the final should be played as a one-off game.



“It has been a unanimous decision made by the committee to play the Supercup as a single game on August 12 on a neutral ground,” RFEF president Luis Rubiales had said in a news conference this week. “The most likely venue will be Tangier [Morocco]. Rebellious Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic has rejected a World Cup runners-up medal gifted him by his team-mates and coaching staff.

Kalinic did not play a minute at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic had sent him home after the country’s opening game against Nigeria after he refused to come on as a substitute in their 2-0 win, citing fitness issues.

The League Management Company (LMC) Monday announced an indefinite suspension of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) which was scheduled to resume from the World Cup break on Wednesday, July 18.

A letter informing the clubs of the decision attributed the suspension of the league to prevailing adverse circumstances in the administration of football in the country.



The letter signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar and addressed to all the participating 20 clubs read in part:


Kindly be informed that the League Management Company (LMC) has reached a decision to postpone the resumption of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) indefinitely.


“The decision is based on the current adverse circumstances in the administration of football in the country as a result of which sponsors, partners and service providers have expressed strong concerns and are reviewing their involvement in the league
“There is therefore the need to engage them further in this regard in order to mitigate against any possible adverse outcome. Furthermore, organizing matches of the NPFL under the current circumstances might cause irreversible damage to the League brand”, the statement noted.
