Stop creating false symmetries even if what he said may not be the actual cause responsible.

You should be asking yourself what were they mining in a residential area that could create that level of destruction if you believe illegal mining is what is responsible. Illegal mining that none of the surrounding people know about

Foreign AffairsRe: US And UK Carry Out Strikes Against Iran-Backed Houthis In Yemen by ReubenE(m): 6:51pm On Jan 13, 2024
madridguy:
I am sure you're getting the wrong information about the Houthis and their mission.

Their point is simple and direct. If you cannot allow medical aid to come into Palestine, then we are also blocking our own water way from every ship bringing anything into Israel. It is not their water way the only way into Israel, they can sail their ship through other sea.
It is international waters that guarantees freedom of navigation. Then again, the Houthis don't have any water and the areas they occupy even is illegal. The Houthis are not the representative government of Yemen so does not have the locus to decide which ship or not should sail in the Red Sea.
The Houthis are non state actors, and I say again using the logic from your earlier comment. The Houthis should attack Israel directly as that is the root cause of their grievance.
They should not go about attacking children and grannies while the brother they have problem with (Israel) is right there.
Foreign AffairsRe: US And UK Carry Out Strikes Against Iran-Backed Houthis In Yemen by ReubenE(m): 5:38am On Jan 13, 2024
madridguy:
Truly the Houthis are the heroes of our time. They are proven to the world what they're capable of doing.

I expected the US/UK to take the fight to the Red Sea, fight the Houthis soldiers there and not taking your fighter jet to be bombing civilians sleeping at home.

If you have differences with your fellow man, fight him at the spot, going behind to fight his aged mother, wife and children is nothing but being coward.

The Houthis have been blocking any Isreali own ship from passing the Red Sea, I expected the US/UK to take the full fight to the Red sea and not to Yemen.

Now we all can see Israel is just a light weight fighter claiming heavy weight.
I think it is more proper that you direct this to the Houthis you support if you are not trying to be hypocritical.

The Houthis claim their attacks on commercial ships in international waterway is to stop Israel in Gaza. Now according to your logic, is it not more effective and a sign of boldness like you claimed about the Houthis that they shoot missiles to Israel and not commercial ships going about their business.

You say it is a sign of weakness for the US to attack Houthi military infrastructure right inside their stronghold but you consider the Houthis to be brave when then attack random civilian ships. The Houthis should attack Israel to test the limits of their courage as Israel is the one they have issues with.
Your request better fits the Houthis than it does the US

Houthis should shoot a missile into Israel to stop them from attacking Palestinians

You should be more concerned with security agencies going after the corrupt politicians using the right means. You hear of this because the one in question is a prominent man that could afford legal fees.
Security agencies while conducting their business do this and even far worse to ordinary people.

They can go after corrupt people and still do it the right way. Going after corrupt people is not an excuse for violation
PoliticsRe: “We Will Know Who Is In Charge Soon” – Wike Blows Hot, Visits APC Chairman by ReubenE(m): 4:44pm On Jan 08, 2024
jamesversion:
Ijaws have propagated the notion that Ijawness is based purely on ancestry and not language. How then can the stool of Opobo be said to be Ijaw when Jaja was clearly an Igboman. No matter the traditional rites done, you can never alter the DNA of an Igboman into an Ijaw and vice versa.

Alot of "Ijaws" today are actually Igbos because the Igbos were the readily available humans In the slave market as at then. The traditional practices that turned them from Igbos into Ijaws especially in Okrika is simply tradional and unscientific in nature, as no amount of tradition can displace the biological composition of the different races.

And going by ancestry again, a lot of "Ijaws" are actually people from different parts of Nigeria and west Africa because there is also a notion that Ijaw women are the owners of children they bore. I know persons in Kalabari especially whose paternity are traced to other ethnicities in Nigeria and west Africa at large but bear Kalabari names and claim to be native of Kalabari communities, which by extension are Ijaw, simply because of their maternity. So is the Ijaw ancestry now a feature of any parent?
@ first paragraph, nobody said Jaja don't have Igbo DNA.
Lemme give you an example. In my maternal village in Delta State, there are Igbo men and women with their families that has lived in the community for years, some even fought alongside the Ijaws when they had ethnic conflicts with other Urhobo villages. As with Ijaw culture, they are now full members of the community as Ijaw people...they can even ascend the throne of the community as full indigenes. Now in all of these, nobody denies them of their right to be Igbos if they so desire. By your assertion, if any of them occupy the stool of that village tomorrow, the stool would no longer be Ijaw because they have Igbo DNA?
The stool is still Ijaw whether it started with them or not (as in the case of Jaja) or they ascended to it down the road as the occupant must be Ijaw either by ancestry or through acculturation in the case of Jaja. Jaja was made an Ijaw man even before he founded the territory Opobo. The stool of Opobo is ethnically tied to Bonny whether Jaja a former Igbo slave boy that was made Ijaw man started it or not.
The only problem I see here is the Ijaws accepting other people easily as one of them because of their abhorrence for slavery and servitude.

Your last two paragraphs, I will ignore.

Do the people of Opobo speak igbo or not. Maybe the problem is the tribe nomenclature, however jaja was the founder of opobo. And yes, he was an igbo slave who later became the traditional rulers of ijaw and the richest man in the Niger as at that time. It's not obsession, it's history.
Nobody said people in Opobo don't speak Igbo alongside Ijaw.
I only called your attention based on your claim that Jaja is the founder of their tribe. Jaja is the founder of the territory Opobo and not the tribe

43Ronin:
The founder of their tribe -King Jaja was an igbo man. Till this day people of opobo speak both igbo and ijaw fluently and have igbo names
wrong, not the founder of their tribe but the founder of Opobo. Their tribe/ethnicity has long being in existence before Jaja the slave boy was even born.

Does it even make sense to you that you said their "tribe started with Jaja". Jaja that just existed few hundred years ago. Don't confuse the language they speak as their tribe. Jaja did not give birth to everybody in Opobo and Opobo does not have only the Jaja family. He left for Opobo from Bonny with people, not just himself and those people other than himself have a tribe.

Side note: Jaja was bought as a slave and made a free Ijaw man so y'all obsession with sneaking Igbo into Opobo Ijaw affairs in Rivers is concerning. The stool of Opobo is Ijaw so that alone should be enough to discontinue the petty sentiments

Do those countries with high fuel price have a high unemployment rate? How much is their minimum wage?
Do they refine fuel abroad and import back into their country to sell?
Do they have months of blackout like Nigeria?
A whole opec country cannot boast of a functional refinery.
The media is even helping to drive this wicked move by Tinubu and Akpabio after sending prayers to lawmakers mailboxes.
Na that fuel go explode for inside that Una convoy
You are just disturbing yourself with many other factors.
Look at the oil producing countries like Nigeria in the report and look at the prices attached to them.

Iran sells gas N26, Libya, Venezuela etc sell less than N40. You'll not see the so called Nigeria government and their merchants talk about that but compare themselves to a tiny place like Hong Kong that sell over 2k because that's where their interest lie in doing same thing here

Sorry to divert the topic. I want to ask about something pls. Is it true that police don't help someone collect debt. Because I took some that owed me close to half a million to police station, d case has been dragging for like 6 month now. So yesterday, when I got to station to vent my displeasure about how d case is handling, they boldly told me that I should be patience because is not police job to help someone collect debt, but they are just helping me. Pls police is the house, how true is this? And if is true, won't there be chaos in d land because many people will be taking law to their hands.
That's what they usually say that it is not their job to retrieve debt. But when they eventually do, they will still collect 10% from the whole sum for the stations that are still considerate

I trust you paid some even before they took the case

Atican is okay not because it ticks all the boxes. The sand is clean, the water is okay and you can take your stuff there unlike Landmark.
The only downside is the distance and roads around that axis is not very good.

I love beach noise and loud music so I still go to Oniru more often than others. It is easier for me to commute to and fro and manage the traffic unlike that Lekki axis since I live on the mainland.

It is obvious you don't know what the law says about "division" in a political party hence this your comeback.

How is disobedience to law or refusal to enforce the law a judicial precedent to justify another wrongdoing in the case of Umahi that you mentioned. He is there because no one approached the courts to reprimand him for his wrongdoing.

To your first point again. It is bemusing that you referenced a court order restraining one certain individual from parading himself as the secretary of the PDP as division in the part. If you are the attorney of the former 26 lawmakers, they would be disappointed if this is what you come up with in their defense

It’s only a Court of Law with relevant jurisdiction that can pronounce that the 27 members of the House of Assembly have lost their seats……not the PDP. Anyone with open eyes can see that the PDP has been divided since their Primaries where they chose Atiku as their Presidential candidate. They went into the elections as a divided party….that’s why they lost woefully.
Let the Courts decide whether the legislators have lost their seats or not…..that’s the job of the Judiciary….to make pronouncements according to Law and the Constitution! cool cool
The PDP divided into what exactly?

There is no leadership division in the PDP both at national and state levels. Section 109 paragraph (g) did not provide for throwing tantrums as division for defection so you are trying to be clever by half.
Those former lawmakers cannot even defend what they did cause it is clear to all and sundry including them that they are wrong. They only relied on manipulating our weak judicial system to get a pass and not because there is a valid ground for their action according to law

PDP is daft, how can suspended members declare the seats of 27members vacant?
Their seats are not just vacant because of the declaration of those you are pointing at, their seats are vacant because of the action of the 26 members.

The law is clear, if the current speaker had not declared their seats vacant, the law empowers the platform upon which they were elected (PDP) to approach the courts for the same declaration. In fact it extends to any of their constituents approaching the courts to declare their seats vacant if their defection is in contravention of the law.

You might want to find out the facts from our national law book before calling people names so you don't become that yourself
