U mean the current President is to blame for all woes of Nigeria since her amagamation about 100 years ago. why should previous leaders be excluded with all their loots and lack of sesitivity to the National development? Ironically the current President seems to be more determined for progress... put sentiment aside. Then let‘s continue.

Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Today’s Topic is “God Renews and Strengthens” Now that we are redeemed we should be renewed and strengthened in the Lord in order to live successful and victorious lives. To achieve this Christians must wait upon the Lord; Isaiah 40:31, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. If we must expect this we must soften our hearts and surrender ourselves to God’s will.

God is our Strength and He cares for us. The Bible shows God as being fair and impartial. We are all entitled to general benefits from God but closeness to Him makes the privilege. For instance, He made the people of Israel and related with them so that through them His plan for redemption of the world would be revealed. When the people were faithful to Him they enjoyed special care and attention which were not available to other nations. But when they failed in what He wanted from them they were punished, and whenever this happened He would raise a prophet to remind them what they did wrong.

When it is observed that God did not answer the way and time we wanted, we should know that He would response at the appropriate time and in the right way. When it seems that we are undergoing a time of trouble We need to encourage ourselves on what He did in the past and on that we should be confident of what He will still do. He has Promised that He would strengthen and take care of us, He has also promised to be with us and never to leave us. All we need is to be faithful and trust Him.

Christians that put faith in Christ will receive a new nature that will make them hate sins but love righteousness. Apostle Paul (Romans 6:17-23) shows that people who are slaves to sin are living to satisfy Satan’s priorities. But people who are redeemed by the blood of Jesus are given a nature that reflects God’s priorities. Whether person’s behavior serves God or Satan is shown from the results of his actions. Satan is in control of any action whenever the result is evil and destructive to others. God wants us to be holy and present ourselves for things that will be for the lifting up of others.

We should focus on a new goal which is where to end the spiritual race. Apostle Paul showed that Christian goal is to win the ultimate prize of spending eternity with Christ in heaven. If our goal is to spend eternity in God’s presence we must continue to do what He requires of us. Christians are to be inwardly renewed and present themselves as a new team of God. We cannot profess to be God’s team and continue to wear uniforms of the enemy or old team. Our new identity should conform to godly standards.

Apostle Paul encouraged believers to put on behaviors that agree with the new nature; at the same time he encouraged them to put off the old self and never to put it on again if they are to be continually renewed in order to be alive and growing for God. Also he made an illustration from his own physical condition that he was grown of age and the body was wasting away but his spirit was being renewed and replenished because he was alive in God. Our joy as Christians should be that though the physical body is heading to the grave, the inner man is preparing for eternal life. May God help us. Lesson Texts: Isaiah 40: 27-31; 41:1; Romans 6:17-23;Corinthians 4:16-16; Colossians 3:1-10.

If what we could here from them is supporting ASUU to succeed in their demands, what could have been their motives. May be ASUU will come back to help them too to secure all their full benefits.

Thanks for resending the manual without wasting time. I have just downloaded and saved the 174 page manual on my computer. It opened this time and I have being reading through the contents. Really I am learning something great. It would take some times to read through all contents because my computer stops responding for few second in an attempt to open the succeeding page after the first one. But the moment pages are opened, it is smooth to run the pages up and down for easy viewing and reading. Thanks that is a great work.

tintingz: That means Jehovah doesn't know what he is doing in old testament bible before he send his son to renewed the covenant by dieing on a cross?
God knew/knows what he was/is doing. The renewed covenant is for the man that has sinned and fallen short God‘s Glory and his needs for redemption. The old testament was built upon imperfect sacrifice to appease God and renew a broken relationship with him. The new testament is built upon a single sacrifice ordained by God to take care of the need of all.

tintingz: Are you telling us that Jehova repented for all the deeds he has done in old testament bible invading nations?

Need further explanation...I don't understand your statement "can never be supported in new testament"... Old testament and new testament god are they different? undecided
Ah ya ya... Very nice reply from you. It is so simple but it is confusion of some people like... that has made it so complex to understand NATURE of God. God renewed convent. Without His renewed covenant the world will continue in dark chasing shadow. The sacrificial blood of Christ has since renewed the covenant. And the message is good will to all, the era of glad tiding; true love of God to you and from you to your brethren. That covers all evil. To crown it all, is a wonderful blessing of everlasting life where people who are saved will see God and be like Him unto eternity. It is simple if you can decode the message.

gbadexy: Islam would get there some day.
Perhaps when it is 2000 years.
Same thing happened in the early days of christianity.
The catholics and protestants fought brutally during the white and red rose wars with many migrating to america.
The number of people killed the during the spanish inquisition by the overzealous missionary spaniards is yet to be matched by casualties from muslim extremists rampage.
And the number of people burnt alive for suspicion of withcraft, blasphemy and heresy with the manner it was carried out is similar to the way boko haram kill clerics or people they feel blaspheme.
Many scientist/alchemists were burnt alive then and galileo had to escape being killed for saying the world was spherical and not flat like the then popularly held belief.
I condemn in strong terms activities of islamic terrorists, but I see similarity between the fight between shiatte/sunni muslims, murder by boko haram etc to the then overzealous early christians.
With more knowledge about Islam and exposure, I'm sure we too will get there.
Get out of the wood and stop deceiving your self Christianity has never been the creation of violence because that ungodly language was never supported and can never be supported in the New Testament from the Father as given to the world and all that want true peace by Christ. May be you are trying to mix politics with religion yhere. Christianity is a religion from which people in politics can learn how well to govern, and to instill the fear God in them. Christ Gospel shows that any destruction in the name of God is not of God, but caused by Satan.

Some people are called animals when what make them human beings is lacking. When they are being led by instinct rather than reasoning. Man that knows how precious and sacred life is will like to preserve it, but to animals life is like a weed to consume at any time. Until they repent and come to know truth about God, they will continue living in the Bush looking for more weed. Only when they are human beings Will life be meaningful to them.

Nonso23: who is to blame for the ''educational disadvantage'' these states are wallowing inhuh?
Every geopolitical zone in Nigeria was given a chance at getting their people educated throughout the colonial era. Why should the people who made good use of this chance be made to suffer instead of enjoy the fruits of their decision?
That certain sections have less educated individuals is not a reason strong enough to slow down the progress the more educated regions are making all in the name of ''nationality''.
I agree '' let every region be allowed to develop at their own pace''.
I wonder o. when people have enough opportunities and do not care to derive any benefits. How would people that love to handle sophisticated instruments rejected proper training. Even in the villages where parents use only crude tools they try all means to secure proper education for their children, that makes meaning to parents in the South. Mr A like something Mr D doesn't like it and view versa. By the time we get everything listed and desires of everyone noted, people will begin to see where they should go, and not where they are going

Infomizer: Don't you think both sides share the same fears - that of proselytizing? I understand your point but if each party puts her house in order, then there shouldn't be much to worry about, provided there is an improvement in the quality of education in the state..
Really the missionaries were neither myopic in reasoning nor haphazard in their actions. They catered properly for schools, hospitals and several other social amenities they provided for generations yet unborn. What they expect is upgrade of the structures and consolidation to take care of future expansion while people still retain the identity. Merger in secret plan to later destroy their heritage shouldn't be conceived at all by the govt. Christians are concerned about society that is polluted and people of faith are working on the gospel options to sanitize it in line with teachings of their scriptures. That is reason Christians are defending what is known to be right for them and the society. Interestingly many of these leaders acquired western education through missionary schools. See what they the mess they are now plowing back.

hakings: the merger is a problem to none but the myopic . if any phylosophy is not coming from the christians, it's not the best for nigeria no matter how useful or heplfull it maybe. i've always attended none islamic schools all my life wherein i performed lots of activities attached to christianity and here i am today, still an islamic monotheist. why is that you prefer to dine with the devil than to live with the muslims? it's this hatred for islam that put the economy where it is today. CAN and other corresponding christian groups did throw their weight behind jonathan to come to power and his administration now they can not defend. osun state has been the most peaceful state in nigeria in all ramifications in recent years under the stewardship of this same man whose administration you now see as a threat because of mere merger of schools. my call to the people of the state of osun! i'd rather you woke up and stir the coffee and let no group in the name of religious difference usher in chaos into your peaceful state like they did to nigeria. my advice.
We are now in the information age where eyes are wide open to all the goings - fabrications modifications and distortion of truth or lies. Point of correction... if the nose had not perceived the odour, month would not utter that something stinks. For the CAN to jointly rise against the govt decision on its education policy, something has been done wrongly somewhere. Pls get the matter right the governor has really tresspassed for taking that decision. The decision to secretly take educational system of state through a process that would later destroy identity of the missionary schools has been uncovered, and the best thing to do now is to reject it, when reasonable people will be comfortable to intervene for amicable resolution. If Churches are seeing such evil now at its early stage and keep silent, it would be like they give devil a chance to alter structure and finally destroy their heritage put together from tithes and offerings of believers to provide for needs of the society. People have learned a lot from the governor‘ s mission, He is planning for what will offer religious disharmony similar to what is disturbing peace in the North. IF he is sincere with his education policy he must not spark off apprehension against Christians. Christians foresee plans to destroy their heritage soon or later so they are not comfortable. Chief Awolowo and Bola Ige holistically revamped education structure and they were not ignorant and selfish to cause disaffection among Christians and Moslems like what is happening right now. What the govt should do is to improve and upgrade facilities in mission schools. The missionaries acquired enough land for all schools they established so that in the future what they expect is upgrade of facilities for ever increasing student population, they do want unnecessary merger by a leader that might have lost focus.

Are you a politician? We are talking about reasons for protest against destruction of legacies and missions of the founding fathers of missionary schools. You seem to woo people to support the inglorious mission of the government. Interestingly hardly will see newly established schools with enough space and standard facilities similar to what you see in the missionary schools. Why can't the government upgrade the dilapidated infrastructure and upgrade teachers in these schools instead of the planned destruction.

Education › Baptists Protest Merger Of Schools In Osun State by Rexyl(op): 9:27am On Oct 08, 2013
Members of Baptist Churches in Iwo, embarked
on demonstration, on Monday morning, shutting
down Baptist High School, Adeke, denouncing
the new education system, just as they vowed to
resist it with all available measures.
Investigation indicated that the protest was
allegedly sparked off by the merger of some
pupils from Muslim schools to Baptist High
School, Adeke, in Iwo, a development which
heightened tension in the ancient town.
The protest in Iwo followed a similar
demonstration last week Wednesday, by students
of Baptist Girls’ High School, Osogbo, who shut
their gates against male students of Fakunle
Comprehensive High School (FCHS) who were
merged with them as a result of the new
educational policy.
As early as 7.30 a.m on Monday, protesting
Christians in Iwo, stormed Baptist High School,
Adeke of the town and locked out all students
including non- Christian students and teachers
redeployed to the school as a fallout of the
merger policy.
But, in a swift reaction, the state government
said that they had taken into consideration the
interests of all stakeholders in the
implementation of the merger, which culminated
in the re-classification of schools.
However, the Christians, who were dominated by
the Baptist members, said they had concluded
arrangements to vehemently resist the state
government’s move to merge Baptist High
School, Iwo with hijab wearing ones, expressing
reservation over the policy, which according to
them, was aimed at erasing traces of ownership
of the schools originally owned by missionaries.
Armed with Holy Bibles and hymns books,
public address systems, the christians displayed
banners with inscription that read: “Baptist Say
No To Merger of Schools”, “Baptists Say No to
Wearing of Hijab in all its schools”.
The demonstrators converted the frontage of the
school into a prayer ground, while principal,
students and staff who were supposed to resume
work at 8,oo a.m of the day were locked
outside.
One of the choruses rendered by them was “The
Lord that delivers Daniel, The Lord that delivers
Daniel from the den of lion, why can’t you
deliver us from this oppression and
humiliation.”
Following the development, some students were
spotted roaming streets of the town, while
others clustered around to discuss the matter,
wondering how the crisis would be resolved.
But, around 8.00a.m, a combined team of plain
cloth security men and policemen in uniform
arrived the scene in a saloon wine colour
Volkswagen Golf car, marked AE 969 JER to
appeal to the Christians to allow students and
staff entry into the school, but their pleas
yielded no results.
The demonstration caused traffic gridlock and
Baptist royal ambassador of the church turned
traffic warden to control movement of vehicles,
motor cycles and others to give room for the
free flowing of movements.
Commenting on the development, the presiding
minister for the 35 Baptist churches in Iwo land,
Reverend (Dr.) Bayo Ademuyiwa, said “Our
forefathers and missionaries sacrificed their
lives, resources and of course everything to
establish schools, reputable schools with morals
and values and that is why the Baptists in Iwo
land are here to protect our schools.”
He added that: “Without any doubt, the Baptist
in the state are known for excellence, decorum
and dignity. These virtues are highly cherished
by the Nigerian Baptist Convention and this is
the reason why the Baptists are making these
two submissions which are: ‘Baptists in Iwo land
say no to merger of schools and Baptists in Iwo
land say no to the use of Hijab in Baptists
schools.’
“While we welcome genuine efforts to provide
modern infrastructures and equipments in
schools in Osun State, the Baptists see merger
of schools as a step in the wrong direction as it
will rob us of our identity and bring more pains
to parents and students”.
However, the state governor, Mr Rauf
Aregbesola, while reacting to the protest said
that his administration had taken into
cognizance the interests of all stakeholders
before implementing the re-classification of
schools, just as he implored parents, irrespective
of religious beliefs, to support the new
education system.
While admitting that his administration was not
unaware of little inconveniences the reforms
could bring about to parents and the pupils, the
governor observed that such inconveniences are
just a passing phase, which will pale into
insignificance if compared to the huge benefits
of the new system, both in the short and in the
long terms.
