Christianity Etc › Re: Dead Man Wakes Up After Three Days by Rexyl(m):
Am committing this research to someone. From Christian perspective I think it is possible for dead man to come back to life from 3 - 4th day while all hopes should have been lost and after that up to 39th day after which his burial rites should have been completed. The first 3 days is when resurrection is highly possible compared to the other days up to 39 days . Within this period if it pleases God to make the dead alive again He can do the miracle. Within the period nobody should think of being to heaven except he receives revelation of what happens in that great beyond. It should be after 40 days of being dead that man is expected to tell the story of what heavens looks like.

Uyi Iredia: Once said I was a Christian pantheist lol. This meaning that I believed that all religion were/are an undertaking to understand God. I still think so, ergo, I think Muslims and Christians worship the same God: an infinite God cannot be put in a box of religious or philosophical rigmaroles (even the name God is ironic).

Kenny4lyfe: excellent @Op! Jesus also said in John 14:6 that; "I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father but by me". (Note the definite article used with Way, Truth and Life).
Man has (in his quest for God) created several WAYs, (what he calls) Truths and Life (a consciousness or awareness of the supernatural with which is attached fear or reverence in worship) but Jesus The Christ is saying here: "Hey! Quit your search, I am The Way, The Truth and The Life you seek!"
I pray that the Lord opens the eyes of understanding of whoever stumbles upon this thread in Jesus' Name! Amen!
IT IS NUMEROUS TO COUNT,THE CONFIRMATION OF DIVINITY OF LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST IN THE BIBLE. OLD TESTAMENT CONFIRMS IT, NEW TESTAMENT ESTABLISHES IT, WHAT THE SPIRIT OF UNRIGHTEOUS DECEPTION ( 2 Thessanonians 2:8-13) IS STRUGGLING TO CHANGE.
Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
today‘s topic 'Introduction to Spiritual Gifts'. Holy Spirit is available for believers at salvation, when man has been redeemed from forces of darkness and brought to walk in the light of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit enables believers to bear witness of Jesus Christ and live a life that is acceptable to God. He leads people to accept Jesus as the son of God, Lord and Saviour. Holy Spirit exalts lordship of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit manifests in believers by variety of gifts which makes it easier to grow in faith and serve God. The gifts of Holy Spirit are for believers to achieve success in the areas of their calling.

The Gifts of Holy Spirit come from God and they are made available to believers to accomplish His will. For Believers to receive the gifts he must have surrendered himself to be used by God for the benefit of the whole church. The gifts are to prove the power of God and manifest His presence in believers. The Bible shows that Holy Spirit distributes the following gifts among believers: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, work of miracles, prophesy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues. Holy Spirit uses individuals in the church to minister with these gifts at various positions of calling, and believer can be gifted more than more one of the gifts.

These gifts do not come by training, wisdom, insights, maturity and experience. They are purposefully given as blessings to believer’s calling so they are not property of any believer to boast of. Manifestation of these gifts is under spiritual direction, and the gifts are for believers who are yielded vessels to God. We have access to Holy Spirit because we are parts of spiritual body of Christ. Apostle Paul uses human body to illustrate relationship of Christ to the Church. He shows that Christians are unified as members of a body which head is Christ. We are baptized into one Church irrespective of denomination, nationality or background. Every member of the body is needed to work in unity to fulfill functions of the body. This means all members of a church are important, and individual should identify where to serve God as area of his calling.

God designed Church to function in combination of unity and diversity therefore believers are to work together as members of Christ’s body at various positions and while doing this our gifts and talents must be harnessed to glorify God. He wants us to promote unity by loving and caring for one another. Nobody should be regarded as being less important before God, we are interdependent therefore we should respect one another and love to see that there are always peace and harmony. All spiritual gifts should be harmonised for planting and growing to maturity of a church.

Holy Spirit determines what gifts are needed for believers to minister at a particular time. We are vessels through which He can perform God’s work. Paul advised that Christians must not envy another believer’s calling or gift, instead all gifts should be brought together to honour God and do His work. Lesson text 1 Corinthians 12: 1-31.

Popular religions should be open for debate and criticism where people will contribute freely and let see the one that will weather the storm without without being aggressive. God give opportunity to investigate his creation for possibility of creation by man. I wouldn't no why what is made for man should be kept away from being investigated. God has his way of protecting what comes from him even if man would try condemn or phase it out.

Anyone who knows and understands a good droid can NEVER buy a tecno phone. They cannot even sell anything in their country, they rely on developing countries to buy their crap. Go and check aliexpress and the likes, the prices of phones with the same specs as tecno is about 100 USD max, and most of them are 2012 (or early 2013) phones. For me to respect tecno, they shold come out with a
1) MTK6589T 1.5gHz quad core chipset
2) A display resolution in the regoin of 1920 x 1080
3) A proper battery, atleast that can last 1.5 - 2 days
4) OTG, HDMI e.t.c
5) The most important; they should start thinking innovatively and taking Nigerians seriously, not trailing 3 steps behind what a normal android phone should be.
Mediatek octa-core chipsets are already in the horizon for major and serious phone companies, i'm sure tecno would wait for about a year when that's completely outdated before they start rolling out their octacores. #teamgoodphone
correct. tecno needs to take our markets very serious by providing quality phones with correct specicifications
Incase you want to Know more concerning the apocryphal books, then i think you should consult the bible reagrding the canonical books !
For Christians who are here with us,let us go through the inspired books as against the uninspired apocryphal books i.e the quran as quoted by tbaba.

Canonical Books or inspired books :

The word “canon” comes from the rule of law that was used to determine if a book measured up to a standard. It is important to note that the writings of Scripture were canonical at the moment they were written. Scripture was Scripture when the pen touched the parchment. This is very important because Christianity does not start by defining God, or Jesus Christ, or salvation. The basis of Christianity is found in the authority of Scripture. If we cannot identify what Scripture is, then we cannot properly distinguish any theological truth from error.

What measure or standard was used to determine which books should be classified as Scripture? A key verse to understanding the process and purpose, and perhaps the timing of the giving of Scripture, is Jude 3 which states that a Christian's faith “was once for all entrusted to the saints.” Since our faith is defined by Scripture, Jude is essentially saying that Scripture was given once for the benefit of all Christians. Isn't it wonderful to know that there are no hidden or lost manuscripts yet to be found, there are no secret books only familiar to a select few, and there are no people alive who have special revelation requiring us to trek up a Himalayan mountain in order to be enlightened? We can be confident that God has not left us without a witness. The same supernatural power God used to produce His Word has also been used to preserve it.

Psalm 119:160 states that the entirety of God's Word is truth. Starting with that premise, we can compare writings outside the accepted canon of Scripture to see if they meet the test. As an example, the Bible claims that Jesus Christ has the NATURE of GOD (Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1, 2, 14, 20:28; Acts 16:31, 34; Philippians 2:5-6; Colossians 2:9; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Peter 1:1). Yet many extra-biblical texts,(apocryphal including the quran) claiming to be Scripture, argue that Jesus is not God. When clear contradictions exist, the established Bible is to be trusted, leaving the others outside the sphere of Scripture for the followers to continue in their ignorance.
In the early centuries of the church, Christians were sometimes put to death for possessing copies of Scripture. Because of this persecution, the question soon came up, “What books are worth dying for?” Some books may have contained sayings of Jesus, but were they inspired as stated in 2 Timothy 3:16? Church councils played a role in publicly recognizing the canon of Scripture, but often an individual church or groups of churches recognized a book as inspired from its writing (e.g., Colossians 4:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:27). Throughout the early centuries of the church, few books were ever disputed and the list was basically settled by A.D. 303.Hope you tbaba can see that the issue was settled long ago !
tbaba said the books were used by segments of the early churches ! See below what actually happened expecially with the OT :
Most questions about which books belong in the Bible dealt with writings from the time of Christ and forward. The early church had some very specific criteria in order for books to be considered as part of the New Testament. These included: Was the book written by someone who was an eyewitness of Jesus Christ? Did the book pass the “truth test”? (i.e., did it concur with other, already agreed-upon Scripture?). The New Testament books they accepted back then have endured the test of time and Christian orthodoxy has embraced these, with no challenge, for centuries.

Confidence in the acceptance of specific books dates back to the first century recipients who offered firsthand testimony as to their authenticity.
There is an important theological point that should not be missed. God has used His word for millennia for one primary purpose—to reveal Himself and communicate to mankind. Ultimately, the church councils did not decide if a book was Scripture; that was decided when the human author was chosen by God to writeand God don't choose people to write things that will contradict HIM ! In order to accomplish the end result, including the preservation of His Word through the centuries, God guided the early church councils in their recognition of the canon and not the apocryphal like the quran and the rest of them quoted by tbaba !

The acquisition of knowledge regarding such things as the true nature of God, the origin of the universe and life, the purpose and meaning of life, the wonders of salvation, and future events (including the destiny of mankind) are beyond the natural observational and scientific capacity of mankind. The already-delivered Word of God, valued and personally applied by Christians for centuries, is sufficient to explain to us everything we need to know of Christ (John 5:18; Acts 18:28; Galatians 3:22; 2 Timothy 3:15) and to teach us, correct us, and instruct us into all righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16) and not to rely on the evidences of uninspired apocryphal books bein followed or used by tbaba and other muslims !
The bible is the only book with the authority to use as evidences and not the apocryphal quran

God help us!
THOSE HELPING SATAN TO TURN PEOPLE‘S BACK AGAINST THE PLAN OF GOD AND HIS WORD SHOULD BY NOW KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They cannot change God‘s position by volumes of erroneous beliefs.

@ thaba1234 Coming up with write-ups of historical fabrication shouldn't be an excuse that truth of the gospel has not been revealed to you. Going thru the evidences you base your faith there are lots of flaws and contradictions in them in all efforts to nail the gospel of Jesus Christ and open the gate of hell. All these cannot surprise Christians cos they were already taken care of before the adventures of people who are seeking ways not to serve God and weaken faith of others. They are doing this to divert minds from following the true way to walk with God and serve Him so that they can be made His children. All these are the works of Antichrist.
Christianity Etc › Re: Holy Ghost/holy Spirit by Rexyl(m): 6:38pm On Aug 14, 2013
Knowledge about Holy Spirit is so deep and comprehensive and understanding his presence and works is not what could be fathomed if a person has stayed away from gospel. Holy Spirit is attached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is for people that are saved and confessing that Jesus Christ is the Lord saviour. Concerning those who after knowing the truth but looked back and made u-turn, such cannot be avoided in as much as the devil is moving about. The Bible says the devil is always moving about looking for whom he may devour. Likewise the Bible warns believers to be sober and vigilant. Also cos of this The Bible warns believers to pray without ceasing, all this is cos of fierce battle he is fighting against people on the way of salvation.

Really some people after knowing the truth will turn back. Reason being that they were being constantly fought by Satan and they were overcome. Why? They relax in the days of trial. The Bible says if you relax in the day of adversity your strength is not enough. Examples of battles believers are facing: Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places“.

what makes Christians to overcome is stated thus 2 Corinthians 10: “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we
do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are
not carnal, but mighty through God to
the pulling down of strong holdswink
5 Casting down imaginations, nd every
high thing that exalteth itself against
the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ“

What will happen to those reverting Christian faith as spoken by Jesus: Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said unto him, No man,
having put his hand to the plough, and
looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

half-baked knowledge and little understanding is serious problem o. See your understanding and those historians on whom you are backed of unfolding events in the book of Act 9 verse 25-26 you cited was totally wrong. Do you know Saul was one of the greatest enemies of the first church and prosecutor of disciples of Jesus Christ. Do you know he was arrested by the power of God while on deadly mission against the gospel and he was blinded. At that crucial moment he needed deliverance and healing which he was directed to obtain thru the disciples. His first showing, bearing withness for Christ was a big surprise that made other disciples afraid cos they were not yet totally convinced of his conversion. After they were convinced he was welcomed to be an Apostle of the gospel of Christ. As it pleased God He suffered most and made the greatest exploit in the course of gospel.

tbaba1234: MKO 2005.

The focus of the write-up is about the ministry of Jesus, focus on the points. When I write about the trinity then we can talk.

Most of the evidence used are from bible scholars and biblical history.

Fact is, Jesus focus was on the children of Israel and the ministry was limited.

Unfortunately, most chtistians do not know beyond bible school knowledge.
Very interesting I love this. As Jesus was being borne the Angels announced his coming that, He is the ONE the whole world needs. Read: Luke chapter 2 : 8 “And there were shepherds living out
in the fields nearby, keeping watch over
their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the
Lord appeared to them, and the glory of
the Lord shone around them, and they
were terrified. 10 But the angel said to
them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you
good news that will cause great joy for
all the people. 11 Today in the town of
David a Savior has been born to you; he
is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be
a sign to you: You will find a baby
wrapped in cloths and lying in a
manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the
heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest
heaven, and on earth peace to
those on whom his favor rests.”

Note the words “for all people“

Also Jesus himself charged believers Mark 16:15 “He said to them, “Go into all the
world and preach the gospel to all
creation“.

Now you are knowing...
Luke 22:38 And they said,Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them,It is enough.
What's the purpose of swords?
JIHAD means to strive and struggle.Allah says fight those who fight you but transgress not the limits[Surah Al-Baqarah 2:190].If the enemies want peace, you should also incline to peace[Surah Al-Anfal 8:61].Killing of innocent souls is not JIHAD.

Just seein the above and now to dwell on Luke 22:38,in case you don't know,The prophets testified that HE(Jesus)was numbered amongst outlwas hence the need for the sword!
Isaiah 53:12b''... and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.''The scripture needs to be fulfilled before HIS death ! They were asked to pick up two swords for what ? May be for the whole 12 disciples to kill the Roman soldiers who will be comming after HIM ? Not at all. But to show you that the buying of swords was for the time been,we have to take the scripture from Luke 22:38''And they said,Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them,It is enough. Now let's see the concluding part or the scripture Luke 22:38-53''38 “Look, Lord,” they replied, “we have two swords among us.”“That’s enough,” he said. lol two sword to fight the battle ahead concerning HIS betrayal in the garden ! Definitely not !

(39)''Then, accompanied by the disciples, Jesus left the upstairs room and went as usual to the Mount of Olives. There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.”
He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” 43 Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him.He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.[a]
At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.”
But even as Jesus said this, a crowd approached, led by Judas, one of the twelve disciples. Judas walked over to Jesus to greet him with a kiss. But Jesus said, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”
When the other disciples saw what was about to happen, they exclaimed,(49) “Lord, should we fight? We brought the swords!” And one of them struck at the high priest’s slave, slashing off his right ear.
But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
Then Jesus spoke to the leading priests, the captains of the Temple guard, and the elders who had come for him. “Am I some dangerous revolutionary,” he asked, “that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me?Why didn’t you arrest me in the Temple? I was there every day. But this is your moment, the time when the power of darkness reigns.” !
Take a look at verse 49 where they wanted to know if they should go ahead and fight ! But HE said NO ! Stop the fighting that those who go by the sword(using the sword will die by it )

God help us
I told them not to just quote a verse in the Bible and base arguments on it. They will understand better when they read everything in the chapter and if possible they should include both preceeding and succeeding chapters. Now Jesus attested to no-use of sword.
