The fact is there is hardly any blue chip companies that has opportunities for entry level, if you are lucky to have one, it will not be because you merited it but based almost entirely on inside connections and your smarts. An engineering graduate in manufacturing for instance, will have to gain experience with many of these Indian, Chinese or Lebanese companies, and even the technical skills you get there is limited to technician job and nothing serious as they have their expertrates taking care of the important aspects, not that they are extra-ordinary but they seem to prefer it that way. To gain competetive skills you just have to dole out huge cash enrolling in over-priced skills aquisition programmes and seminars but person wey no come get nko? |
seunfly: My brother u ve missed where i said violence/nonviolence group, just put massob where it belong.actually, such a sweeping categorization has become rampant. |
seunfly: ain't u tired of crisis in this country? Our so call president is fueling crisis just because he wanted another 4 years in office.on a more serious note, people should stop mentioning MASSOB in thesame group with MEND, OPC, MOSSOP, BOKOHARAM and their likes. MASSOB is anything but violent, it is just a group of disenchanted Igbo Biafran survivors that still want out. They have made no claims of militancy or fighting the government let alone reign violence anywhere. |
i do not realy agree with the op's suggestions. |
Hafandahi: You are one of the Nigerians that do not appreciate leaders initiatives. Why must you be so wicked to discredit this very wonderful project initiated by the NYSC. You attended the program and see how much was spent just to help you overcome the unemployment problem bedeviling the country, but you cannot use your head correctly. Did you really went to school? WAP is real I am a beneficiary. I collected N250, 000 and now I can boast of capital assets of 1,000,000. If not because I lost over 400,000 recently, the story would have been different. Please stop criticizing good projects like this. With my authentication letter, I am a Postgraduate student and also secured a job with one of the highly respected Federal govt parastatals. So what are you saying? Just because you are inpatient does not mean you should spoil the name of NYSC/MDGs/WAP. If you will not wait for the loan, go to the HQ and collect your certificate. You are quite familiar with the system during new year, i.e late passage of budget into law, so why have you become a national liar. Let me tell you, if we refuse to go 'entrepreneur' then our country is at the verge of collapse, because Nigeria is producing more than its white collar job carrying capacity. Be wise and repent of this post.who is this slowpoke? Na so una full reach wey be beneficiaries, no wonder. |
hmmm. . . It appears our efforts is begining to cause a stair somewhere in the NYSC WAP leadership, my brother recieved a text from them yestarday, informing him that his name was on the list sent for approval for release of funds, that the approval process might take 2-3wks to be effected. Na wa o. . Ordinary approval takes 2-3wks, this country is ruled by mediocres and intellectually inferior people that have no business occupying their present positions. What does it take to give approval that one has to wait for 2-3wks. I even doubt the sincerity of the texts they send cos not everyone got it, i dey sure say fire don dey burn the fraudstars for nyansh cos some beneficiaries are already planning to institute a class action against them. They have met their waterloo this time with the whole backdoor runs going on, this time around, too many street smart and sound NYSC grads participated in the programme, they will not just bend over and let some greedy public official destroy them. More petrol to that fire. |
wells13: I created poverty for myselfyou are just one of the many beneficiaries of the programme that have encountered serious problems that nobody talks about solving it. The way the programme functions, it is a case of OYO levels if you encounter any problem in the process of execution. Am sure you would have seen my arguments for the inclusion of contgency plan in the MOU of the scheme if they care about truly empowering people and not just executing a programme just so they can give the impreessiom of government's efforts towards poverty eradication programme even when the whole thing is superflous and full of all manner of self-defeatist clauses. Any intelligent beneficiary or facilitator will take up the issue of "what happens to a beneficiary if he/she encouters a problem that puts him between the dilemma of repayment and overcoming the problem encountered during execution. That is why white people seem more intelligent than Black people, they don't set up a programme they have not thoroughly thought out in all rammifications, so that even when beneficiaries encounter problems, they can easily take recourse in the contigent plans of the programme to bounce back. Black man sets his own up with a narrow-minded means to achieving the stated goals of the programme and makes you feel like you are ungrateful for having the guts to want them to have realistic contigent plans after they did you a "great favour", like you should be thanking your God you are one of the few beneficiaries of the programme. Sorry o. |
NYSCMDGsWAP Recently, I am surprised by the campaign of fallacy and blackmail being sponsored and orchestrated by some disgruntle elements. They did not just want to discredit but they went ahead to describe the NYSCMDGsWAP programme as a “fraud”. What an ingenuity and ingratitude? NYSCMDGsWAP programme is designed to empower young graduates to be self reliant as part of the cardinal objectives of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The training being given to the beneficiaries and the subsequent interest free loan they received apart from other travelling and training allowances given to them has been turned as a curse instead of a blessing! As for me as a beneficiary of this great gesture, I will forever remain grateful to the initiators and coordinators of this programme. I have achieved a lot through this empowerment programme. I was able to secure a plot of land, assist my family and I am now happily married through the blessings of the loan I received. I therefore urge all castigators of this great empowerment programme to desist from their negative media campaign against NYSCMDGsWAP programme and come to terms with the relevant authority if at all they have any grudges. Abubakar Shuaibu Bello is a beneficiary of NYSCMDGsWAP programme from Bauchi State. Email: barayabello@gmail.com
blanket comments like this makes thinl that most Nigerians are small minded and careless for details before commenting or contributing to anything they get themselves involved in. What will it profit anyone to castigate the programme if actually it is done the proper way with no roforofo and gibiti inside it. What kind of help do you render to a person that will have him incapacited for almost a year? If there is going to be help then it should be rendered the right way without jeopardizing other people's future in the process. Before you come out to talk about "castigators" be sure to care about the incapacitated state of the victims of the very faulty processes of the programme. I don't care about their help if it is the type that has unseen potentials to jeopardize one's future, period |
laideabioye: I think after I have religiously gone through numerous comments on this pathetic post of my dear WAP colleague, I can make few comments too. Let me say at this point that participating in the project is not the problem but I think the problem is where is the money? The 60k I saved during my service year was spent on renting a piece of land Α̅πϑ dug the land for fish pond while believing dat the fund will come soon. I'm loosing the money on rent Α̅πϑ the pond is getting weedy cos of lack of fund to buy fingerlings Α̅πϑ feeds. Please if u can help us do don't add to d pains dat we are already battling with. ThanksYou could not have said any better. All that is important now is getting the money. I can't believe this people want beneficiaries to wait for close to eight months before releasing the funds. Na wa o |
bomee: Bitter pessimist. I know ur type. Have a nice day.excited shallow-minded goon, no wonder docile goons like you are cheated yet you don't realize it. Just hope your narrow and shallow excitement does not get you in trouble. Move on kid. |
epage: just imagine what we are thinking in this country, if the unbelivers are owning jet why cant our pastors? you dont expect them to use train, cars to travel round the world, do you? pls be sincere friends, will buy a jet if you have the means to?How old is this eeeediot! Unbelievers are defrauding the country so it is ok for your Pastors to do thesame according to your lame logic, right? With eeeediots like you in a congregation what better suckerz can a conPastor ask for? |
bomee: Pls get ur glasses. 30000 not 3000. I av nothing to prove to u. I don't even smoke my own fish except d runts n set that do not thrive well. I source 4 fish frm farms. I'm sure u reside in a remote area. U can find "bomi smoked catfish" in lagos axis n IB. Ikeja in particular. Oga keep licking ur oga ass while serious minded individuals are busy building up empires. Keep helping ur oga achieve his dreams yl ur dream keep dwindling. My 2cents.hahahah. . . So now you don't even smoke your own fish but earlier on you made claims of smoking 5 tonnes of fish. . . You make me laugh go and tell your lies to learners. And No, the name Bomi fish does not ring a bell anywhere in Lagos, not in ikeja or anywhere else. |
bomee: Oga, I've bin in biz 4 about 2years now. I started with live catfish n I ve raised over 30000 fishes till date, I'm also fully into d smoked catfish thing n I've smoked over 5 tonnes till date. I just started my poultry n I av about 200 birds. I also av 3 staffs, sooo mayb u will av a rethink of d word. "Kid" n "excited". I'm sure u are just a salary earner so u just wnt understand even if it was stashed into ur brain. All thanks to d God n d scheme it made me start small n I'm still growing.hahahahah. . . The more you try the more you sound like an excited kiddo. You must be some financial magician; raised only 3000 cat fishes, smoked "5 tonnes of catfish". . .lol. . i doubt you understand your preposterous claims and from it you were able to put two people on a payroll, wow! What a finacial genius. But Oga big man you maths does not add up, I don't see how 3000 catfishes will give you an equivalence of over 5tonnes of dry mass smoked catfish. By the way, 3000 catfish in 2yrs is a total failure, with your level of excitment one would have expected more. . Am not impressed. By the way, you did not say if you paid of your debt as well, abi your financial magic no reach there? |
bomee: Its unfortunate u are not being objective in ur analysis. Coming into conclusion based on ur biased perception of d scheme is unfortunate. The scheme isn't meant to spoonfeed participants, its meant to jumpstart a small scale biz. If u can't manage small loan how will u manage more? Can u get this money from the bank without collateral? Even with d NYSC cert, are u of getting a decent job? Y are u so bothered about d biz failing(negative thinking). If u were given loan 4 biz frm d bank, wld d bank b responsible for what befalls ur biz? Stop being myopic, that ur uncle dint succeed does not mean others won't.The fact is not everyone in the programme will succeed and even amongst those that will succeed they will definitely encounter problems that will not be helped by the conditions that they were forced to agree to. Besides, it shows how small-minded and excited you are, comparing a social programme organized by government and the MDGs designed to empower people to banks that exist solely to make profit while helping you. Banks are not there to give you interest free loans or empower you without sharing in your profits, they exist for business not social welfare or empowerment, if you can not tell the differences, I can understand your intellectual lack. By the way, I never said my Uncle failed in his agro-business, the man's business is too big to fail just at the death of 2000 fishes, that was just one of the many occurences that sometimes can not be controlled by human efforts no matter how meticulous and brilliant you are. It is not about positive thinking, it is about have a well rounded plan so you dont have to suffer loses you can't overcome in the process. What do tou know any way, you are just an excited kid just starting out freshly with prospects though, but you will learn in the process and come to understand what my arguments realy are, I just hope you donllt learn it the hard way. |
Lamidiganiyu: Am also a Beneficiary of the NYSCMDGs WAP Loan last year march I collected 250 thousand.to be sincerity l have not paid 1kobo back has a loan repaid coz of Financial challenge the money is not enough for my Fish farming project. My Certificate is with Nysc as a collateral till the time l return or repaid the loan. This programme is very good for Youth to create more jobs and eradicate poverty in Nigeria.Your point is lost on Me. What exactly are you on about? |
i am a redeemed member. but recently,i have been thinking on d attitudes of our churches as it pertains to youth empowerment, jobs creation n the likes. i believe that there's nothing wrong in our churches floating a non interest bank which support youths with brilliant ideas n good prospects, to get established, n setting up a centre wch oversees n monitors d capital to ensure judicious utilisation. if a target of five hundred youths is set yearly, imagine d multiplier effects such will have in d society, even in d church thru attendance n how unemployment would be reduced. if govt has failed us,we cannot afford to fail ourselves. there's bound to be a healthy competition if a church starts it n congregation increases rapidly. even as we preach love to increase faith, let us also show love to brighten faces thru caring for their physical needs, let people be provided wt hook, line n sinker n bait so they cud fish.. Jesus talked abt two things a man live by when He said 'man shall not live by bread alone but.... so ,'bread' n ' word of GOd' are two things a man must live by. so a hungry man has no mind to reciv d word of God,and that was y Jesus had to feed ppl first before preaching. the high rate of crime in our country today is mostly due to poverty, these people go to churches n pay tithes n offerings(d word of God told us to pay them), but d church(95%)' have failed in their CSR. The church shudnt be a place where the rich will b getting richer n fatter n d poor will be getting poorer n wretched because they are been fed upon without any commensurate compensation for their doggedness in d house of God. as we are establishing churches at difft locations, let us also,wt d same vigour establish people so that members will be running after us n not we running after them. it's well
the most sensible comment from a member of the church, at least somebody is begining to use his goddamm sense to reason like a human being. Imagine the money wasted in the procurement and maintenance of a jet going into sustainable social welfare and empowerment program for young people in the church. Oyedepo or Adeboye prolly have had this kind of suggestions but did not take it seriously because it is not profitable, it wont bring profits to the church and to them, they will rather do the occassional charity that will only help the person at that instance after that they are left to go back to their poverty state. How best can you preach about love and selfless giving and sacrifices if not through holistic and in depth social programmes that give people a sense of belonging. What we see in Churches today is apalling, all you hear are different manipulative sermons about giving, yet the GO is yet to appreciate what it means to sacrifice, they don't even know what selflessness is, a person that sees using a private Jet as opposed to using normal commercial airlines is not selfless, let alone the ones that aquired upto four. A pastor that will rather set up his own private University that only caters to people that can pay high fees is not selfless even if he has 200 peoplele that he directly sponsors in thesame school, selflessness is indiscriminate and caters for all-both rich and poor, smart and unsmart. But again we are in a society whpeope generally mentally docile and enslaved to the whims and caprices of their spiritual leaders. |
mintymee: I am a beneficiary of the nysc wap mdg programme and everything the young man has said about the training process is very correct, I attended the programme and when I heard that my discharge certificate would be used as collateral I wanted to opt put but I couldn't becos they aid we would pay the training, and feeding free for d 10 days training, I went for the training oh April-may 2010 and by June when I was passing put I was given d reference letter, it was scare tho but we didn't have any choice. we waited till Jan 2011 befor we finally got d money and I started a poultry farm immediately and business has been on and fine since then till date. I returned d loan in feb this year and got my discharge cert from them. It is no scam , it jst takes time, maybe this will hasten them but I promise u it will come and u won't regret it.What! You had to wait for full eight months before getting the loan? Jesus Christ of Ngor Okpala, my Younger brother is in trouble. And you think that is not a big scam? So what are they supposed to be doing during this eight months period? My God, Nigerian youths are so docile and unimaginative, no wonder they continue to take people for a ride. It is either they stop this scam programme altogether all they review it before the next edition, you don't jeopardize people's future just because you want to 4cking help them. Don't you see it is a scam? The money is probably in a 6month fixed deposit account accruing interests for these rogues, tomorrow na them go full Redeem and Winners suggesting to buy them a jet. There is something wrong with out moral system and activism in this country. |
laideabioye: Good day! Dear Nairalanders please I need ur help this today by Reading this Α̅πϑ Act on it ASAPAnother victim of thesame programme voicing out. Seriously, these guyz need help. |
tmontee: Rhymz, I'm really struggling to get your angle here. Except you want this 'loan' to become a 'grant' I think you may be expecting too much from the lender in terms of contingencies. Contingencies (like you call them) do happen even though we hope they don't,and when they do the lender may just be benevolent enough to restructure the loan to facilitate easier repayment, but it doesn't take away the fact that you owe some money. The risks here are quite high though, especially as most of the loan beneficiaries are first timers. I empathise with the op as he has not received the money yet but a Loan is a loan and good enough it is interest free.Actually, you have unwittingly hit the nail on the head, it is a loan that has to be paid, however, the payment structure is where I find the flaws. If for instance, a benefactor did everything as directed to do and yet in the end, the business fails, the burden of payment should not be borne entirely by the unlucky or unfortunate benefactor, it can be shared 50-50 between the government and the unfortunate benefactor. Let's face facts here, there are going to be cases like that more than expected sef. |
bomee: Well I agree with u on officials hijacking the process but about eventualities I do not agree. Corp meembers that participated in d scheme willingly submitted their application, this indicates that they know what they were entering into. A top NYSC official once visited my farm(officially) to know how far with my project, he collected detailed info on all activities carried out wc was well documented. That's called follow up. At least in not all graduates that get decent jobs or r self employed. I av no intention of convincing u d scheme is perfect but its commendable. U aint a benefactor so u might not fully understand but I can tell u that d scheme sure made some of us employers of labour. 50 graduates might succeed from d selected 500 but it sure got other pips employed. Some participant wld not still succeed if they were given a loan of 1 million. You are not getting the point here young man, that is the problem with an average Nigerian youngstar, many lack the ability to be holistic and thorough in their analysis of processes. I don't get excited by the mere thoughts of prospects and positive thoughts alone, there is a thing in business called contingencies i.e in simple terms, plan B, a method of controlling a process or at least stopping a situation from getting worse. I operate a Poultry farm myself and trust me, the experiences you get from practice is nothing similar to what your instructor teaches you. For instance, for poultry experiences, there are diseases occassioned by wheather change that can kill all your birds in a matter of days, what happens then? Do you go to them and explain to them that all your birds just died like that? Who will believe you? Is it that idiot they call Prince Momoh that is so full of himself that he feels he has seen it all? Let me give you another instance, my Uncle bought 2000 fingerlings and put in his pond, after like 2wks, palm fruits from a palm tree close to the fish ponds fell into the pond and guess what? They all died? Till as I write, my Uncle and the owner of the palm tree are at it threatening fire and brimstone. Imagine such eventualities happening to a person that has only borrowed a loan to do all these things only to face these kind of stuff, you run into troubles. This goes beyond whether you signed knowing fully well the consequencies, if actually it is a government programme to help empower this people, then it should not be set up in a way that benefactors are susceptible to falling into debts and troubles just in a bid to avail themselves the opportunities. You are just starting out, don't start acting like you have got it all figured out wait until you are able to start making profits and pay off the debt. Close to 500 people attend this programme, can they boast and say in every of the batches close to 90% of these people succed? And you know what happens when you donllt succeed? You become a helpless debtor. That is where contingencie would have helped to address. You guys need to stop getting unecccessarily excited, I have been in this business long enough to know that it is not black and white as sold to you learners. When they want to get high on positivism the play videos of benefactors that have gotten the loan and kick start the business, they dont tell you if the person has been able to make profits, pay off the loan and still remain in business, do they? Starting off does not mean you have succeeded my dear, anyone can start those agro businesses longevity is the true test of success. Besides, it is most likely that very few were even able to kick start the business what about the majority that couldn't? They unwittingly fall into a vicious cycle of debt. Then the next thing, their guarantors become agents of harrassment and government intimidation. Abeg relax jor, they need to be sincere with what they hope to achieve with the scheme, with the way it is presently constituted, they are turning more youngstars to debtors than they are helping to become self reliant. If you dou t me, tell them to publish their success and failure rates, you will be shocked to your marrow how these guys are getting people into debts in the guise of rendering help. |
bomee: I benefited from the scheme as a corp member in 2011. I was given a loan of 250k about a month to d end of my service year. I think it a laudable scheme, its unfortunate ur set hasn't been paid. The scheme would benefit only those who are very willing to work for themselves although the loan is not too encouraging but it can jump start a small scale agric biz provided u r dedicated n willing to add substantial amount of ur personal money to it. I have no regret so far. About holding back of d certificate, its to encourage benefactor to concentrate on d project n to put d money into good use. Many benefactors attend d program just for the money they r paid for attending then they quickly return the loan to retrieve their cert. This "nigerian sense" defeats d purpose of d scheme. I think its a laudable scheme as getting a good job seem to be difficult, it encourages young graduates to work for themselves n b employers. Its a known fact that NYSC cert wld b withheld till d loan is paid so uninterested corp member should have opted out before the training commenced. In ur case, I wld suggest u write to the appropriate authority for release of ur cert or d loan.of course it is a very laudable scheme if well intended and planned well with all sincerity of purpose. However, some criminal officials have obviously hijacked the process, it is like they want you to be frustrated to the point you start worrying about your NYSc discharge certificate and not the loan that obviously has been diverted. Another aspect that must not be overlooked is have contingent plan for eventualities. It is very unrealistic for the organizers to assume that everyone is going to succeed in realizing the aims of the project if they do everything right. You can do everything right and still fail, that is a fact, why should participants be 100 liable if for instance if they fail due to factors they can not control or stop? It is absurd and wicked abeg. |
deandavid: I hope u guys are convinced now that wap isnt a fraud, d loan delay is jst because of the delay in fg budget approval at the national assembly. All this issues were addressed during the training, some corp members like dis op's persn was there roaming up and down, during the training or chasing babes there.Obviously you are an agent of the Fraud, soon you will be exppsed. |
deandavid: thats a lie sir, wap made me a better person, i have the option of going into agriculture, and still with my bsc, i was trained on animal husbandry, but am into fishery because of the fish market in my state, and i can as well go into my cattle, goat, sheep or pig rearing. Nysc mdgsWap rocks. I will advice u, just check their fb page.Guy do you mind shutting up and stop this stooopid sycophancy? What do you know about Agic business that you are yapping about? My Uncle owns a very large Agric business right opposite our family compound, I once managed the poultry section of the Agric business and I know how difficult it is to make profit and keep the business going. Until you have been able to start off the business and pay off the loan, don't come here praise singing about stuff you are just starting to do. What is the success rate of the program, how many people actually succeeded amongst the many people that enrolled for the program. If 500 people enrolled in the programmme and only say 150 people succeeded while the remaining 350 become debtors by default of the flawed MOU they signed then it is not a success, period. Go sing your praises to people that do not know what it takes to do business in Nigeria. |
Seyixyz: I was part of NYSC-MDG's..Wen i hear my certificate as collatra 4 d loan, mehn,i james bondly cut-out oh..Na wetin?Hw much b d money self?Unless you did not attend the training you can't just "james bond" after recieving the training, T.F allowance and the feeding. |
Warlord3000: Its pretty obvious that the clauses sef get "K-Leg"ok, my younger brother is a victim as well, so I can confidently comment about this issue, I saw the two memoradum of understanding that were given to him and I also have the letter of refernce in my Laptop that was given to them in place of their "seized" discharged certificate. The first problem with the MoU was the very obvious lack of contingent plan in the event the agric business fails. It is folly for the officials to assume that everyone that attended the programme must succeed in practice when they are eventually handed over this "fictitious loans". Even great business men and entreprenuers fails at some of their business endeavors let alone youngstars that have nothing besides a 10-day training and an expected loan that obviously has been diverted. In a way, giving how the MoU was structured, there is a very high tendency for the participants to get in a vicious debt, should anything go wrong during the execution of the business he has been trained for, he has no option than to succeed by hook or crook means (little wonder many of them do sth else with the money) yet the programme is supposed to be for empowerment and self-reliance. Another flaw in the MoU was the siezing of participants discharge certificates. This is the height of wickedness. If the business fails, you are ruined, you have to worry about paying back the debt, reasons for the business failure is immaterial to these people, as if that is not bad enough, you cant get a decent job without the NYSC discharge certificate, so in a way, the programme is an entrapment. Before I forget, there is a clause in the MOU that threatens the guarantor with legal actions if the guaranteed defaults on payment, na guaranto must pay for the person wey im dey guarantee. . .lol. . Scam. And up till now, no news, no more money and no NYSC discharge certificate. I understand that the previous batch is yet to get as well. These are people that promised to release this funds once the MOU was submitted. This country is full of Fraudstars. |
saxywale: why are u talking bout what you know nothing about. sherperd one is just an international call sign of ANY plane carrying the pope.funy enough, they spew their lies with stupifying confidence like they have the facts at the back of their hands. |

GraceBestowed: I agree! When you have to be in ten different countries in the space of six or seven days, being able to determine your own travel schedule is necessary.Madam, do you realy believe that his schedule or itenary is such that he has to travel to 10 countries in a space of one week? Are you high on his fart or sth? What kind of ilogical exaggeration is this? Even Obama with a way busier and important schedule can't make such a claim. Besides, why do these MOGs like to give the impression that have to be in all of their branches every now and then, na wa o. . .person wey never finish covering the branches dem wey dey naija dey claim 160 worldwide. . Lol. . It is expected that he would defend such obscenity and lack of sensitivity. God's work like say say it is neccessary for them to have branches in every nook and cranny like say na bank. These people are all scam, period. |

Moderators pls find a way to get this topic to the front page it is a very serious issue. I have seen similar posts on FB about this same issue of government officials using NYSC corpse members to access funds only to use the funds for their personal businesses while the people it is meant for continue to wait and lose opportunities because their discharge certificates had been used as collateral for funds that have been diverted. Abeg anyone with connections to EFFC should also look into the matter. |
